Good morning.
This is my story.
Before LCA...
Year 1.
All I really knew is that I wanted to draw pictures and get payed for it.
What I thought were my strengths “_Illustration _Presentation?! _Attention to detail - Aesthetical choices? _Digital software
What I wanted to learn “_The fundamentals of graphic design _How to work professionally _How the industry works _How to talk about my work _How to be the best at what I do
I didn’t realise at the time, but I learnt absolutely blaady loads.
_Design Skills _Design Process _Design Principles
There was a lot of bad graphic design...
But some that I was happy with too.
End of year statements about me as a designer. “_I love Illustration _I like editorial design _I like product & packaging design _I like my work to be fun/playful/humorous _I am versatile
Year 2.
I still didn’t really have a clue.
Design for Print.
Design for Web.
Responsive.
End of year statement “I am a graphic designer and illustrator working throughout various sectors, including food and drink, retail, art & design and entertainment industries. My practice takes a focus within brand & identity, illustration and product & packaging.
Year 3.
Context of Practice.
Changed the way I thought about design and branding.
The 5 key things I believe should circulate graphic design...
Intuition
Originality
Creativity
Pride
Honesty
I also have developed a very strong dislike of much of the marketing and advertising that we see today and would absolutely love to know what goes through the heads of the people who create it. “Hi i’m Barry F*cking Scott”
So who am I now?
‘I am a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. My practice focuses primarily on image-making, brand identity design and product and packaging, but throw any creative challenge my way and I will be ready to give it a go.
Go on I dare ya!
