Watercolor Collage on Canvas

Explore your creative side with watercolor and collage! Artists will learn different paint techniques, create stunning works of art with materials such as watercolor, paper, acrylics and many more. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Arts & Crafts from Around the World

Get your passport ready! We will explore different regions of the world by creating a variety of arts and crafts. Get inspired by the rich cultures from far away lands. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Holidays from

Around the World

In this camp, campers will learn about different cultures and holidays around the world such as Chinese New Year, Day of the Dean, Mardi Gras, Children’s Day and Christmas in the Holy Land. Then they will learn how to make a variety of fun crafts that go along with them. 1 to 4 p.m.

June 22-26 Indigo Dyeing Around the World

Natural indigo dyeing is one of the oldest methods of coloring cloth in the world. In this camp, we will explore traditional Japanese Arashi Shibori, West African Malinke and North Carolina Tuscarora techniques of indigo dyeing. Each camper will dye two yards of cotton muslin divided into six fat quarters and three silk scarves. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Painting Party

Come create masterpieces celebrating all the things we love about summer! We will create paintings with brushes, fingers and even paper towels while learning basic art principles. You will design, sketch and paint original works of art and have a blast while doing it! 1 to 4 p.m.

Story Book Art

Do you love story books? Every day, we will read books and then make crafts to go along with them. Books will include: What Makes a Rainbow, Rainbow Fish, Elmer, The Dot, The Lorax, The Hungry Caterpillar, Where the Wild Things Are, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Beautiful Oops, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. 1 to 4 p.m.

“Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids”

“Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids” is a weeklong theater experience and includes producing, singing, acting and dancing in a musical theater production at the Boykin Center. Auditions will be held to determine your role. For all ages. Camp is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Performance is June 27 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person.

July 6-10 Two Bite Treats

Campers will get to spend the week creating various bite-sized desserts — ranging anywhere from cake pops and truffles to mini cupcakes and tarts. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Basics of Painting and Drawing Create your own masterpieces while learning basic painting and drawing techniques and how to build a painting step by step. You will also participate in small art activities that are sure to get your creative energy flowing! 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Cupcake Cuties on Main Street

Campers will create “cupcake art” each day that is related to different themes of downtown Wilson such as Flowers (The Flower Pot), dance (Dance Studio “B”), whirligigs (Whirligig Park), etc. At the end of the week, people from downtown will come to judge, and eat the projects. 1 to 4 p.m.

July 13-17 Musical Crafts from Around the World

Learn how to make your own musical instruments inspired by cultures from around the world. Campers will create projects such as paper maché maracas, rain sticks and drums — plus lots more. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Earthenware Adventures Down Under This camp will explore the decorative motifs of Australian Indigenous Art as we discover techniques used to hand build wonderful clay projects. In the studio, we will use slab, coil, and pinch pot sculpting methods to create unique ceramic masterpieces! This class is for students with no previous clay experience, but all are welcome. Class includes all materials and firings. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Cupcakes on Main Street

Campers will create “cupcake art” each day that is related to different themes of downtown Wilson i.e. Flowers (The

July 20-24 Where the Wild T hings Are Around the World

Let your imagination soar with delight as we read, Where the Wild Things Are and make clay creatures. We will paint and embellish our “wild things” with beads, feathers and baubles. Verbal interaction and role-playing will be encouraged. No previous clay experience needed, and all are welcome. We will dress up and paint our faces on the last day of camp and dramatize the story with our “wild things.” Class includes all materials and firings. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

True Elements of Carving taught by the Masters

Join the Wilson Woodcarvers for a fun class that teaches the basics of woodcarving. We will be using age-appropriate and safe materials that will teach the techniques of carving. Campers will then create their own works of art. The joy of creating things out of wood will be an enjoyable pastime that can last a lifetime. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Fun with Fondant

Campers will get to work with one of the more complicated decorating techniques in this camp. Throughout the week they will work with store-bought and homemade fondant and experience the differences in decorating cookies, cupcakes, and cakes with fondant icing. 1 to 4 p.m.

July 27-31 Summer Crafts

Celebrate summer with fun crafts like making bubbles, bubble wands, bug catchers, play dough, puffy paint, sharpie tie-die, sidewalk chalk, painting a flower pot, making garden stones and even your own snacks! You don’t want to miss this fun! 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Book Art: Creating your own books

Learn different methods of paper folding to create your own books and stories. Then fill the pages with your own art using a variety of mixed media techniques. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Cookie Creations

Campers will learn to make and decorate a wide array of cookie creations throughout the week including decorated sugar cookies, cookie cakes, and homemade versions of some of your store-bought favorites. 1 to 4 p.m.

Nature Art: Sticks, stones, and Leaves

Art utilizes many media: paint, graphite, pastel, or clay. But did you know art can also be made from nature? Land Art is a movement exploring the connection between art and nature. It is also a unique art process that uses nature as its medium—rocks, soil, sticks, leaves, moss, etc. Campers will explore the earth works of contemporary land artists such as Andy Goldsworthy, Patrick Dougherty, Robert Smithson, and Jean-Claude and Christo. After a brief introduction to Land Art, campers will create their own earth works! Be sure to bring your messy clothes because we will be playing in the dirt! 1 to 4 p.m.

Disney’s Winnie the Pooh Kids

Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, and Owl but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the mysterious Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship, and sharing snacks. Auditions will be held to determine your role. For all ages. Camp is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Performance is August 1 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person.

Basketball Fundamentals Camp is offered in two sessions: June 15-18 and June 22-25, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. Camp is for boys and girls age 7 to 16, excluding high school graduates. Cost is $105 per session. Basketball Shooting Camp is offered in two sessions: June 15-18 and June 2225, Monday through Thursday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Camp is for boys and girls ages 10 to 16 (excluding high school graduates). Cost is $75 per session.

Offered July 6-10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Campers will learn all about space through the use of Starlab and Science on a Sphere. Cost is $75 for members and $90 for non-members.

Cat Scratch Fever

Programming for Kids is July 15-19 from 9 a.m. to noon. Scratch is a programming language that allows children to program and share interactive media such as stories, games and animation. Cost is $75 for members and $90 for non-members.

Camps for ages 8 to adult F iber Camp: Spinning and Weaving

Fiber Camp is July 13-17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Learn the basics and history of textile production in this hands-on adventure. Campers will learn to spin wool yarn and weave cloth. Cost is $85 for members and $100 for non-members. There is a $10 supply fee for this camp.

A Pirate’s Life for Me is July 20-24 from 9 a.m. to noon. Campers will learn about pirates through hands-on and other activities. Cost is $85 for members and $105 for non-members.

Time Travelers is June 29 to July 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers will step back in time to explore North Carolina history. Cost is $185 for members and $215 for non-members.

Earth & Environmental Science

Offered July 13-17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Aquatics, wild life, soils and forestry activities Most classes will be held outside. Cost is $85 for members and $100 non-members.

Chemistry Concoctions

Chemistry Concoctions is July 13-17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Campers will learn all about the periodic table, the scientific method, forming hypothesis, testing and lab safety. Cost is $110 for members and $120 for non-members.

Basics

RPi301: Beyond the Basics is July 20-24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students will code and create a “traffic light”, use stepper motors, port expanders, and logic level shifters. This class will be self-paced. Cost is $100 for members and nonmembers.

Camps for ages 12 and up Anatomy & Physiology

Offered July 27-31 from 9 a.m. to noon. Explore the world of internal organs, bone structures, and muscle tissue. Campers will be performing animal dissections. Cost is $120 for members and $150 non-members.

Teen Synrgy

This class provides teens with a great workout as they move through a series of stations on the Synrgy equipment that is designed to elevate their heart rate and challenge their muscles. Offered June 23 - Aug. 13 on Tuesdays from 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. Cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members for the first participant.
