Disney’s Winnie the Pooh Kids

Masked T heatre Camp

Disney’s Winnie the Pooh KIDS is a delightful show based on the beloved characters of A.A. Milne and the 2011 Disney animated feature film. Featuring favorite songs from the film, as well as new hits by the Academy Award-winning Robert and Kristen Lopez (Frozen), this honey-filled delight is as sweet as it is fun. Participants will be given a role, taught acting and other performance techniques. Campers will perform a show on June 25 at 2 p.m. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Grades K-8

In the first week, campers will spend time with Barton College Art Student, Kim Hennes, creating theatrical masks that reflect their personality. In the second week, students will work with the Arts Council of Wilson’s Performing Arts Director Christopher A. Ballance on different performance techniques incorporating the masks they made the week before. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Grades 3-12

Learn about various artists’ styles and create original works of art using similar techniques. Art teacher, Lori Robbins, is one of our most popular instructors. She will guide students using acrylic and watercolor paint, oil pastels, chalk pastels and more! 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Grades 3-8

In this summer camp, kids will build stories using LEGO® Education StoryStarter kits unleashing their creativity and imagination. Then campers take photos of their builds and write comic books using StoryVisualizer software. This is a great camp for LEGO® loving storytellers. July 5-8 Mascot Performance Camp

This performing arts camp, taught by Performing Arts Director Christopher A. Ballance and the Wilson Tobs mascot, Slugger, will be focusing on movement techniques, storytelling, and comedic improvisation. Camp runs from Tuesday, July 5th up until Friday July 8th culminating with a birthday celebration at Historic Fleming Stadium with Slugger and his friends that evening at the Tobs game! 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Grades 3-12

July 11-15 Chocolate, Chocolate and More Chocolate!

Learn how to make delectable chocolate goodies and candy-making techniques from pro, Amy Kelly! If you love chocolate and want to know how to create beautiful, yummy treats, this camp is for you! 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Grades 3-8

July 18-22 Painting Party

Come create masterpieces celebrating all the things we love about summer! July 18-29 Junie B. Jones: T he Musical

It’s Junie B.’s first day of first grade and a lot of things have changed for her: Junie’s friend Lucille doesn’t want to be her best pal anymore. On the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament, a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal” and first grade has never been more exciting! Participants in this camp will be given a role and taught acting and other performance techniques. Campers will perform a show on July 30 at 2 p.m. **Camp fee is $250/$220 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Grades K-12

Barton College Basketball Camp

Basketball Fundamentals Camp is offered in two sessions: June 20-23 and June 27-30, from 9 a.m. to noon. Camp is for boys and girls age 7 to 16, excluding high school graduates. Cost is $105 per session. Basketball Shooting Camp is offered in two sessions: June 20-23 and June 27-30, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Camp is for boys and girls ages 10 to 16 (excluding high school graduates). Cost is $75 per session.

Visual & Performing Arts Camp Participants will enjoy daily classes in both Visual Arts and Performing Arts taught by current Barton faculty. On the final day of the camp, the participants will perform selections from Kids Take On Broadway and will present their artworks in an exhibition in the Barton Art Galleries. For ages 7-18. Camp Peace The Peace Church camp includes field trips, arts and crafts, special snacks and cooking, games, technology, science experiments, fun in the water and more. Summer camp is offered to rising kindergarten through fifth-grade students. Camp

The CCS summer camp is designed to stimulate and entertain campers while providing them a safe place in a loving, Christian environment. Summer Camp is always very organized in a clean facility with great teachers. Offered July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to noon. Scratch is a computer programming language designed for children that allows them to program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation. As children use Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically. In this camp, your child will learn how to use Scratch to create a character (called a sprite), set the stage for their sprite, and put their sprite into motion.. Cost is $90.

Camps for ages 5 to 10 A Pirate’s Life for Me

Camp is July 18-22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Join the crew as we explore the world of pirates! Campers will learn about real and fictional pirates then develop their own pirate persona. Other pirating activities include map reading, ocean navigation, and much more! Cost is $105.

Fly Me to the Moon

Camp is July 25-29 from 9 a.m. to noon. Blast off with Imagination Station as we explore the cosmos! Campers will learn the science behind rocketry, galaxies, planets, moons, the Sun, constellations, and more! Cost is $105.

Museum Safari Camp

Camp is Aug. 8-12 from 9 a.m. to noon. Welcome to the ever expanding inventory of Imagination Station’s animals! We are opening our doors to campers so they can learn more about our floor animals, as well as creatures we keep behind closed doors! From alligators to tarantulas to snakes, we’re sure to have your favorite animal for you to see up close and touch! Cost is $105.

Camps for ages 8 to Adult F iber Camp: Spinning and Weaving

Camp is July 18-22 from 1 to 4 p.m. Where do our clothes come from? Learn the basics and history of textile production in this hands-on adventure. Campers will learn to spin yarn using both a spindle and a spinning wheel. We will also weave cloth on the museum’s 100-year-old loom, as well as on a modern floor loom. In addition, campers will learn to weave narrow bands on an inkle loom. By the end of the session, campers will have completed a handspun, hand-woven bag or pillow to take home. All supplies are included in the price. Cost is $100.

Camps for ages 10 to 14 Summer in the Dirt Summer in the Dirt is June 13-19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spend a week exploring natural and human history by studying just what’s beneath your feet. In this camp we will explore the fields of geology, paleontology, and archaeology. Campers will be able to get hands on experience in each field as we perform a variety of activities at the ISSHM, go on field trips to meet professionals and learn how to curate your own fossil collection after we go fossil hunting in Greenville. Cost is $215.

Escape to Nature Camp

Camp is June 20-24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come join us on an adventure as we escape to nature that’s right in downtown Wilson! We’ll find critters in ponds, learn more about the dirt beneath our feet, meet the museum’s animals, and even have a hike in the woods! Everyday will be a new venture into nature, whether it’s on animals and habitats to all about water; each day will focus on an essential aspect of the outdoors. Cost is $215.

Forces in Motion

Camp is Aug. 1-5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Explore the science of moving objects! Design your own roller coaster track. Build a catapult. Experiment with projectiles and falling objects. In this camp, students will solve a variety of hands-on challenges while learning about motion and force. Cost is $215.

Survival Camp

Camp is June 27-July 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. Do you have what it takes to survive in the wild? Learn to brave the elements and how to survive without the use of the everyday luxuries we depend on for day to day life. Students will learn how to make rafts, distill water, how to make a fire, first aid and more! Cost is $100.

CSI Camp

Camp is July 25-29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn about crime scene investigation techniques and the science of forensics! Using their observation skills, students will investigate a mock crime scene. Through hands-on activities including fingerprint analysis, blood sample analysis, hair analysis, and more, they will compile evidence to ID the criminal. We will also learn about CSI in the real world. Cost is $215.

T he Science and History of Comic Illustration

Camp is July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come and learn about the history and science behind comic book illustration through hands-on, step-by-step instructions on the basics of the creation of comic book illustrations and trading cards. This camp is taught by professional comic book illustrator Louis Small, Jr, who has drawn for Marvel, DC Comics, and dozens of other comic book and trading card companies since 1992. Go from stick figures to “Action Figures” all in one week. Cost is $165.

Wilson County 4-H Day Camps

4-H will be offering day camps for youth ages 5 to 19 this summer with camps running from mid June to mid August. Volunteer opportunities for teens are also available. 4-H Camp

Weeklong 4-H camp is July 10-15 at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center in Reidsville, NC and is for ages 8 to 14. Cost is $410; scholarships are available. Open for all youth. Call the local 4-H office at 237-0113 for more information.

Gymnastics Summer Camps for ages 4 to 5 (including kindergarteners) will be held June 20-24 from 3 to 5 p.m. Cost for members is $55 and $65 for non-members per session. Children in first to sixth grade attend and July 18-22 from 3 to 5 p.m. Cost is $55 for members/$65 for non-members.

Swim Camp

Swim Camp for ages 7-10 will be held June 20-24 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $70 for members and $90 for nonmembers.

Swim Lessons

Group swim lessons are offered in four sessions: May 31-June 23 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, June 28-July 21 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, July 5-14 on Tuesday-Friday mornings for the first week and Monday-Thursday mornings for the second week, and July 18-29 on Monday-Thursday mornings. Cost is $35/$50 per session. Private lessons are available. Cost is $20/$30 for 30 minutes.

Wilson County Sheriff’s Office P.A.T H.S Providing Alternative THinking Strategies is a community based program developed at the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office to prevent gangs, illegal drug use, and violence before it starts, among young people ages 11-13. P.A.TH.S takes an educational and awareness approach to preventing youth violence and crime through academic instructions, scenarios, and youth interaction. The vision of P.A.TH.S is that moral and successful youths can achieve their full potential as connected and contributing members of thriving violent-free families, schools and communities.

Wilson Police Department Sports Camps The Wilson Police Department will hold several sports camps this summer including Soccer, Football and Cheerleading, Girl’s Field Hockey, Fish with a Cop, Softball, Baseball with the Tobs, Youth Academy, and Tennis.
