computer AI will be created that grows exponentially in its power to compute/create. So in my stories the world has reached the Singularity and the population now have nothing really to do as the computer constantly evolves and invents things almost on a daily basis, running the world for them. One invention is the mapping or cataloging of a person's mind into a digital format. In my story the technology exists to save or record a persons life in order to one day install those memories into a new vessel, essentially creating a form of immortality. Both stories deal with the moral idea of recording a mind digitally and whether it would be inevitable that people would edit those digital files to add or remove memories. Do we need sorrow for happiness to exist as a contrast? With Imogen and the pigeons the story revolves around Imogen editing her memories in order to bring back her daughter who died in a car accident after being in a coma. The Singularity of Kumiko is a prequel which is about Imogens daughter Kumiko who has been placed in a coma with a virtual

environment as her dream which she lives within. Her boyfriend Iktomi can send her messages, and his focus is to convince Kumiko to give her consent to have her mind archived as they think she might die within this coma. Essentially by the end of the story Kumiko is not sure if she wishes to leave her virtual existence for the "real" world which to her is more shallow than her virtual life. The new work uses experience tools and some fairly elaborate lighting, materials and graphics. Caer Balogh and Wolfur Windstorm were instrumental in helping me with the scripting hud and in making Mr. Zippers into a pathfinding wonder. WM: I noticed the experience hud and in fact most of your exhibitions are interactive and immersive. How do you come up with ideas for exhibits? What are your inspirations? BRYN: For all my work I try to introspectively look at my life and the things within it that I feel the need to express. I find there to be a type of beauty in melancholy and so many of my works come from the 39

from last year. We still keep to our original offerings of music, art, shopping and fun. However this year, we have extended to having nine days of music with lots more live performances. We are welcoming back the marvelous Bryn Oh and we have Cica Ghost and Hill participating. Our sponsor designers will create a 'scene' at the shopping area of the festival grounds. The idea here is to allow festival goers to hang out and use the scene area as photo ops. About 70 designers will be showcasing their products, so it's going to be fun! We're bringing back the poetry reading session by Lyrical Cafe as that was very well-received last year. Also for fun, we have The Quiz Show as well as Prim Charades, which is similar to playing charades except you build with prims instead of using gestures. We're hosting the Penumbra Fashion Show on Saturday, the 16th of July. The one we are most excited about are the weekend theatre performances by Guerilla Burlesque and the workshops during the weekdays. The acts are specially created for Indie Teepee and they are going to be fabulous!

WM: Are there plans to have an Indie Teepee in other grids? SCARLET: Organizing Indie Teepee is time-consuming. I'm afraid, doing one event of this scale is all I could muster. I've also never ventured to other grids. I am however very curious to see if Indie Teepee would fare better with Project Sansar. The mantra of Windlight Magazine is to help the arts, particularly 2D and 3D artists. Our gallery for the past year has show over 144 artists and has expanded from one gallery, to three galleries. As a part of our one year anniversary, we have decided to show you what we really are about—the art and artists. This section in our July issue will show you some of the amazing artwork of 40 of our artists that have exhibited in our various gallery shows the past year. We hope that you continue supporting Windlight Magazine and most importantly the arts in Second Life. Without further adieu, I present The Artists of Windlight.
