YEMEN
It has been called the “crossroads of Asia.” Strategically located between the East (China) and the Middle East (Iran), the war-weary nation of Afghanistan has for centuries been a center of conflict.
A
fter a decade-long struggle against the Soviet Union, it fell victim to the Taliban (Islamic fundamentalists), then saw liberation through the intervention of Allied troops. With the battle against Taliban forces ongoing, the nation is now quickly approaching another crossroads. President Hamid Karzai’s term of office ended on May 22. Elections will be held August 20 to determine the next leader. The United Nations envoy to Afghanistan, Kai Eide, was relieved that the election date was not moved up to April, as suggested by President Karzai. He expressed concern, however, about the possibility of the process being rigged. Unless the elections are held in a “credible and organized way,” Eide stated, the political stability and security of the nation could be at risk. Afghanistan’s future would seem to be hanging in the balance. If the elections are deemed fair and voters accept the outcome, a strong leader could continue to cooperate with Allied forces, driving the Taliban, its severe version of Shari’a (Islamic) law, and the terrorist groups associated with these militants (such as Al Qaeda), out of the region. Problems with the election might unleash a new wave of violence, rioting, even civil war – all of which would benefit the Taliban. Christians in Afghanistan are watching, waiting, and praying that the outcome will not make their situation worse. The nation is already number four on the Open Doors World Watch List 2009 for Christian persecution. Believers face discrimination and excommunication from family and community, as well as assaults and even death at the hands of Islamic extremists. “It is a very, very fragile community of Christians…” a member of Christian Solidarity Worldwide recent-
June 2009
ly reported to the U.K. edition of the Times. “Converts are very vulnerable to being hunted down as apostates.” This is indeed a very, very fragile situation for the entire region. Where will Afghanistan go from here? What will happen to the tiny but growing Church? That answer depends upon God… and us. He’s looking for someone to build a wall and stand in the gap on behalf of this troubled nation, its unreached people, and His suffering Body. PRAYER: ✚✚ Pray the Kingdom of God will be firmly established in this land. The Bible (Matthew 6:33) ✚✚ Pray for God to raise up the person He desires to lead Afghanistan. Pray for the elections to be free of corruption and manipulation, and for the citizens to accept the outcome. Pray for the new leader to humbly serve the people of Afghanistan, seeking to provide freedom to every group and religion. The Bible (Daniel 2:21; Psalm 63:11; Proverbs 11:2) ✚✚ Pray for God to strike the Taliban with His mighty fist, break the stronghold of wickedness operating behind this group, and liberate Afghanistan from the demonic oppression of violence and Shari’a law. The Bible (Ezekiel 7:9; Ephesians 6:12) ✚✚ Pray for the Holy Spirit to remind them each day that He will never leave them or forsake them. Pray for them to be empowered to fight the good fight, finish the race well, and keep the faith. The Kingdom of Cambodia, formerly known as Kampuchea, is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of nearly 14 million people. The country borders Thailand to its west and northwest, Laos to its northeast, and Vietnam to its east and southeast. In the south it faces the Gulf of Thailand. The geography of Cambodia is dominated by the Mekong River and the Tonlé Sap, an important source of fish. Much of Cambodia sits near sea level, and consequently the Tonle Sap River reverses its water flow in the wet season, carrying water from the Mekong back into the Tonlé Sap Lake and surrounding flood plain.
Terrorism:
Cambodia’s ability to investigate potential terrorist activities was limited by a lack of training and resources. An absence of comprehensive domestic legislation to combat terrorism also hindered the government’s ability to arrest and prosecute terrorists. Cambodia’s political leadership, however, demonstrated a strong commitment to take aggressive legal action against terrorists. Porous borders and endemic corruption could make Cambodia vulnerable to a terrorist presence. The Cambodian government believed that the Cambodian Freedom Fighters (CFF), which carried out an armed attack in November 2000 that killed eight people, are still capable of carrying out attacks in Cambodia. The leader of this group was arrested in California in 2005. The Cambodian government was working with the FBI to bring the leader of

the CFF to trial in the United States. The Cambodian government has also cooperated fully with U.S. requests to monitor terrorists and terrorist entities listed as supporters of terrorist financing.
1975. The following years saw one the most brutal and savage slaughters of the 20th Century. Under Pol Pot’s leadership one in eight of the population died through warfare, starvation or execution.
Religion:
The Vietnamese army kicked the Khmer Rouge out of power in 1978, but civil war raged on until 1991 and the Khmer Rouge continued to fight guerilla warfare. The Khmer Rouge surrendered in 1998, but the country’s stability remains fragile. The Khmer Rouge wanted to totally eliminate all religion― killing 90% of Buddhist monks and most Christians. More recently, government policy and practice contributed to the generally free practice of religion. Despite re-issuance in June 2007 of a ban on door-to-door proselytizing, foreign missionary groups generally operated freely throughout the country
A citizen of Cambodia is usually identified as “Cambodian” or “Khmer,” though the latter strictly refers to ethnic Khmers. Most Cambodians are Theravada Buddhists of Khmer extraction, but the country also has a substantial number of predominantly Muslim Cham, as well as ethnic Chinese, Vietnamese and small animist hill tribes. Cambodia’s population is approximately 82.6% Buddhists and only 1.2% of its citizens are Christians.
Challenges for Christians:
The extreme Marxist Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia in

and did not encounter significant difficulties in performing their work.
Prayer Points:
✚✚ Pray for the Cambodia government to have the training and resources to investigate potential terrorist activities and implement comprehensive domestic legislation to combat terrorism. ✚✚ Thank God that since 1990, there has been an open door for Christians to share the Gospel in Cambodia. More and more churches are being planted in Cambodia. Pray that Christians would be discipled. ✚✚ The terrible massacres of 1975-79 have left the country emotionally scarred. Pray that people can find healing and peace from their suffering. Pray also for those who are caring for the millions of orphans and widows who lost their families. ✚✚ The sex industry in Cambodia is growing- a third of all prostitutes are children. Pray for God to break through this industry and deliver children prostitutes. ✚✚ Pray for the Church in Cambodia, which has survived through the worst persecution. Pray for support and cooperation between those in leadership of different churches.

PRAYER Points June 2009
Day 1
India- The nation’s month-long election process is over, but India’s political future remains uncertain. According to an Associate Press report, tens of millions of votes were cast and the results suggest that a “shaky coalition government” will be in place by the June 2 deadline. Despite heightened security, violence broke out at a number of poling stations and protesters were arrested. Pray for God’s peace to blanket India. Pray for voters and politicians to accept the results of the election and work together in humility. Pray for God to continue the mighty and awesome work He is doing in India – drawing people from every caste and segment of society into relationship with His Son. Pray for this ongoing revival and awakening to spill into Pakistan, bringing an end to that nation’s violent struggle. (Psalm 34:11; Psalm 133:1; Psalm 68:32) Mauritania- The first freely elected president in decades was ousted by a military junta in August 2008. Since that time, the nation has been ruled by the commander of the army. A new vote will be held in June. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come to this volatile, Islamic nation. Pray for Him to raise up leaders who will rule with integrity and justice. Pray for peaceful and fair elections. Day 2 Sudan- President Omar al-Bashir had the opportunity to hear the Gospel message just hours before a warrant for his arrest was issued by the International Criminal Court. He is accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Darfur conflict. In response to the indictment, the President expelled 10 humanitarian aid agencies from Darfur, but the government has now allowed some of these organizations to return. Thank God the Good News of Jesus Christ has reached the man many consider the “worst dictator in the world.” Pray for His Mercy and Grace to be understood and received. Pray for peace and healing to flow from God’s heart into the hearts of the displaced and often neglected people of Darfur. Pray justice will be served quickly to those who have violated the human rights of millions. Afghanistan- The United Nations has reported that 350 women are being held in Afghan jails for “moral crimes.” In a perversion of justice, these women have actually been the victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence. In April 2009, a new law was passed making conjugal relations on demand a requirement in marriages. This is expected to give rise to even
June 2009
more abuse and violence. Pray for God to supernaturally protect these and all women. Pray for Him to be their Advocate. Pray for the women to find their refuge in God and be provided with an escape from this horrific situation. Day 3
Kuwait- Although non-Kuwaiti Believers are allowed to worship in this Islamic nation, converts from Islam often face persecution in the form of harassment and abuse from their families. Conversion from Islam to Christianity is considered apostasy and is not tolerated. Pray for expatriate Believers to be bold in sharing their Faith with Muslim Kuwaitis. Pray for Muslim Background Believers to endure and remain faithful to Jesus Christ. Pray for the Gospel to penetrate hearts, minds, and destroy the dark stronghold of Islam. Bangladesh- Another powerful cyclone hit the nation in April 2009. It was rated as a six (out of ten) on the strength scale. Bangladesh has a long history of deadly storms. In l99l, a cyclone killed l40,000. Cyclone Sidr killed 3000 in 2007. Pray the government leaders will allow on-going humanitarian support into the country. Pray for relief efforts to reach those who have been displaced or left homeless. Pray for Christian workers to use this as an opportunity to share the Gospel and bring God’s Kingdom to those who are physically and spiritually suffering. Day 4 Japan- This nation has been among the hardest hit by the recent financial downturn. Experts say that Japan’s economy is now in its deepest recession since World War II. Pray for these events to cause people to question the meaning and significance of their lives and seek something greater than material possessions. Pray for God to draw their attention from temporary wealth to eternal riches in Christ Jesus. Pray for Revival in this land with multiple thousands accepting the Lord as their Savior in the next thirty days. Guinea-Bissau- Since the brutal assassination of President Joao Bernardo Vieira in March 2009, the nation of Guinea-Bissau has been in shock and mourning. An election to find President Vieira’s successor will be held on June 28. Pray for peace to reign before, during and after this important event. Pray for a man or woman of righteousness to be placed into the presidential office by God Himself. Pray for the Lord to guide and heal Guinea-Bissau. Pray for His Kingdom to

(Guinea-Bissau continued) come and for His Son to be exalted above every private interest, personal desire, and political agenda. (Proverbs 8:15; Genesis 15:6; Philippians 2:9-11) Day 5 Bhutan- A microscopic virus is threatening to plunge this already impoverished nation into even greater economic hardship. The disease is striking oranges - the main cash crop – killing the entire tree and is causing a sense of panic and hopelessness to sweep through Bhutan. Pray for God to display His Power, stopping this plague in a miraculous way that brings Him Glory. Pray His Kingdom is firmly established in Bhutan. Saudi Arabia-A court case involving the marriage of a 60-year-old man to an eight-year-old girl is calling attention the Islamic tradition of arranged marriages. Some of these contracts are made by the bride’s father in order to gain a dowry in what observers call the selling of daughters. Pray for God to arise on behalf of the girls and women who are being sold and traded like property, and for an immediate end to this practice. Pray that men will find it unacceptable to lust after and desire young girls. Pray for the hearts and minds of fathers to be transformed by the liberating power of Jesus Christ to stop allowing their under aged daughters to marry. Pray everyone will value girls and women and start treating them the way God designed and planned when He created Woman. Day 6 Guinea- The military leader who assumed power through a coup in 2008 has announced that he will contest this year’s election. Instead of standing down, as promised, he now says that he intends to be among the presidential candidates. Pray for God to set up the leader He has called and purposed to bring His Kingdom to Guinea. Pray for a peaceful election and for a smooth transition of power. Pray Christians in this land will rise up in unity, praying for the salvation of their nation. Thailand- Conflict between members of the nation’s two principle political groups - the red-shirts and the yellow-shirts - has created an atmosphere of instability. The main issue of disagreement involves a coup in 2006 that sent the president into exile. Violence erupted in April 2009, leading to the attempted assassination of a yellow-shirt leader. Pray for God to breath His peace over this volatile nation, restoring order and driving out the spirits of division and disharmony. Pray for the people of Thailand - no matter their political leanings - to seek and find hope for the future in Jesus Christ. Pray for Believers as they gather on June 7 to ask God to pour out His mercy and grace on the nation.
Justice (MNJ) and the Niger government have reached a peace agreement. At issue was the ownership of the region’s uranium reserves. Other rebel groups have also stated their desire for peace. Pray for God to use this move toward reconciliation to illustrate the reconciliation He has provided between Himself and mankind through the sacrificial death and Resurrection of His Son. Pray for many to be drawn to and receive Christ in this Islamic nation. Krygyzstan- Though the government of Kyrgystan has allowed the United States to use one of its airports as a base for military forces since the September ll, 2001 attacks, President Bakiyev announced its closure in January 2009. Observers believe this could have been motivated by a new $2 billion loan from Russia. Pray for God to keep corruption and greed from guiding the leaders of this impoverished, former Soviet nation. Pray for the people to place their hope in Jesus Christ rather than in politicians or the promises of other countries, and God will provide all their need according to His riches in Glory (Philippians 4:19). Day 8 Iran- Iran will be holding presidential elections on June l2. This is a pivotal event not only for this nation, but for surrounding nations – especially Israel. The re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has vowed to wipe Israel and America off the map, could lead to war in the Middle East. Pray for God to capture the heart of President Ahmadinejad. Whether this leader is reelected or not, ask Jesus to reveal Himself to him in mighty dreams and visions. Pray for God to transform Him from a vicious Saul into a compassionate Paul who will work to ensure peace in the Middle East. Pray for the Lord to place in office those men and women He has ordained to govern at this time in history. Pray for God’s sovereign protection to cover Israel on every side, along every border. (Daniel 2:47; Esther 4:14; Psalm 122:6-9) Burkina Faso- This impoverished nation continues to lack the resources it needs to combat terrorism. It has fallen victim to the lies of both Islam and tribal religions. The Burkinabe (as the residents are called) find themselves not only enslaved to poverty and false gods, but living in fear of the growing threat of terrorists groups. Pray for God to scatter the host of enemies that have invaded Burkina Faso, and release His warring angels to fight on behalf of His will for this nation. Pray the kingdom of God will be firmly established in this nation. Pray for Him to draw the Burkinabe into His loving embrace and reveal His unique purpose for each of them.
Day 7 Niger- Thank God, the Movement of Niger People for

Day 9 Mali- In February 2009, hundreds of Tuareg rebels turned in their weapons and agreed to join the government army. This move signaled an end to a decades-long struggle for control. Pray for God to continue to rid The 10/40 Window Reporter 10
(Mali continued) this land of the spirit of pride and bring a sense of unity to its people. Pray for great openness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and for harvest workers to be strategic in how they reach the lost in this land, as they preach the Kingdom of God among the unreached Muslim population.
them, comforting them in their suffering and reminding them His lovingkindness is better than life.
Azerbaijan- While there have been fewer arrests of Believers in this predominantly Islamic nation during the past year, the government continues to closely monitor Christian activities. Those gathering for worship and Bible study run the risk of having their meetings raided by police. Pray for these brothers and sisters to persevere and boldly live out their faith. Pray for the joy of the Lord to be their strength and for their witness to impact and transform government powers and authorities.
Western Sahara- According to the latest surveys, Western Sahara is 0.00% Christian. Its Muslim residents, especially those of the Algerian-based Polisario Front, are anxious to gain complete independence from Morocco. Pray for the Gospel to reach and permeate every area of this remote and sparsely populated nation. Pray for God to destroy the darkness of Islam with the Light of Jesus Christ and His Blood. Pray that workers who preach the Good News to these unreached groups will have Divine strategies that will quickly transform this nation to one that totally serves the Lord. Pray for the people of Western Sahara to find their God-given purpose in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Day 10
Day 12
Benin- Though census takers report that Benin is nearly 43% Christian, the practice of voodoo is prevalent and permeates the society. Missionaries have even been physically and spiritually challenged by voodoo priests. Pray the missionaries remember the God-given authority they have in the Blood of Jesus, the Word of God, and the power of their testimony. Pray for the power of voodoo to be destroyed in this nation, and for its hold on the people never to return again. Pray for the complete and total freedom of those living in fear of curses and spells in the name of Jesus. Pray for Believers to boldly take their godly authority over the spirits of darkness, and for the Light of Jesus Christ to radiate throughout every corner of Benin.
Egypt- An Egyptian court was expected to yield a favorable decision for a Christian attempting to change his religious affiliation on official identification papers. However, in a recent hearing on the case, opposing lawyers argued that the man should be charged with apostasy and sentenced to death. Pray for God to protect Believers in Egypt and give them favor in dealing with authorities. Pray every Egyptian’s heart will be open to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the Christians will be equipped to minister the Kingdom of God and the message of Salvation to them.
Indonesia- According to the Indonesian election commission, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s Democratic Party won l48 seats in parliament in the April 9 elections. This amounts to 20.58% of the vote and is considered a victory for Susilo and his party. Presidential nominations, at the time of publishing The 10/40 Window Reporter, were expected to be announced on May l6 with elections to be held on July 8. Pray for God to move in and through the elections taking place in Indonesia, bringing about His Will and raising up leaders who will rule with integrity. Pray for His Purpose to be accomplished in the midst of the political process and for His Kingdom to come in power and authority to Indonesia. Pray for this to be a season of positive change as God’s Spirit shines the Light of Jesus Christ throughout the nation and sets free every one imprisoned by Islam. (Proverbs 10:9; I Corinthians 4:20; Isaiah 42:6,7) Day 11 Laos- The last year has been very difficult for the people of Laos - especially so for Christians. During 2008, Believers were detained, arrested, and ordered to sign statements renouncing their Faith in Jesus Christ. Also in August of 2008, the nation experienced the worst flooding in memory. Pray for these faithful Brothers and Sisters to stand firm against political, physical, and spiritual opposition. Pray for God to be with
June 2009
Uzbekistan- This former Soviet nation ranked in the top ten in terms of Christian persecution in 2008. It was also listed at 59th in the world in terms of poverty. The population is predominantly Muslim and the president, considered a dictator, has been in power since l990. Pray for the salvation of President Karimov, as well as the members of his administration. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Uzbekistan, freeing this nation from the debilitating effects of Islam and poverty. Pray for the few Believers who are courageously living for the Glory of Jesus Christ. Day 13 Nepal- God has been answering the prayers of those who have faithfully interceded for decades on behalf of this mostly Hindu nation. Though Christians in Nepal are still a minority and live in danger of persecution, their numbers are growing rapidly. Pray for God’s Kingdom to continue sweeping through this ancient land, toppling false gods and spreading the Light of Christ into every dark corner of this nation. Pray for political and cultural leaders to have the opportunity to hear and accept the Gospel. United Arab Emirates- This nation, which began as a confederation formed by the British to combat piracy in the Persian Gulf (l820), is now one of the wealthiest in the world. The discovery of oil in l950 transformed it from a collection of fishing states into a powerful force in the international oil industry. Though the citizens are Islamic, more than three-

(UAE continued) quarters of the population is made up of expatriate workers. Pray for the hearts of the UAE people to be set free from the love of money and for their eyes to be opened to the eternal riches found only in Jesus Christ. Pray for open doors for the expatriate Believers to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrate the Kingdom of God. Day 14 AlbaniaUnfortunately, in modern times, Albania has become synonymous with organized crime. The Albanian Mafia is believed to be involved in global counterfeiting, as well as drug and arms trafficking operations. An outgrowth of the culture’s clan system (called Fis), the mafia has produced bloody “family” wars and is now one of the chief instruments in the worldwide black market. Pray for members of this system to be set free by the power of Jesus Christ. Pray for the spirits of greed, crime, and lawlessness to be defeated by the firm establishment of the Kingdom of God in Albania. Pray for an end to a centuries-long tradition of illicit activities. Pray for revival to break out in this land with multiple thousands of new Believers accepting Christ in the next thirty days. Morocco- Five missionaries were expelled from this closed, Islamic nation in March 2009. All were expatriate women and were accused of trying to “convert” Muslims. Though supposedly tolerant of other religions, the Islamic government refuses to allow Christians to evangelize or meet together for worship. Pray for God to open the heavens over this stronghold of darkness, rending the curtain of Sunni Islam powerless, and shining forth the liberating Light of Jesus Christ. Pray for the nation’s secret Believers and expatriates to remain faithful to the Lord, and that He will give them Divine strategic ways to share the Gospel. Day 15 Iraq- Even as the physical struggle for control of this country continues to be waged, the spiritual struggle for control of hearts and minds grows more intense. Reports of both increased persecution and an accelerating harvest are reminders that Iraq is truly a war zone. Pray for the lost and unreached to be drawn to the Lord and for Believers to boldly proclaim the Kingdom. Pray that God will keep this door open until the entire population has been impacted by the Good News. Thousands of civilians are trapped in the northern tip of this island nation where Tamil Tiger rebels have been cornered by government troops. The government has rejected efforts by the United Nations and others to broker a cease-fire to allow these innocent citizens to escape from the war zone. Pray for the safety of those who have been caught in this violent conflict. Pray for Christian humanitarian organizations to reach them with clean water, medicine, and food. Pray for these actions to be seen as a demonstration of God’s love and

for many Sri Lankans to permanently place their faith in Jesus Christ. Day 16 Israel- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, elected in 2009, has not agreed to the formation of a Palestinian state and recently issued a demand that the Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish state before engaging in further talks. The Palestinian Authority responded by stating that Netanyahu was not interested in peace. Pray for the Prince of Peace to bring His Everlasting Peace to this war-torn region. Pray for God to fulfill His plan for Israel and use the leaders on all sides of the conflict as instruments for the advance of His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven among Jews and Arabs. Tajikistan- Now deemed the poorest nation in Central Asia, Tajikistan continues to suffer the aftereffects of years of civil war. Many residents are unable to feed and clothe their families. Some mothers have resorted to selling their babies for as little as $l00 in order to survive. Pray for God to intervene in this on-going, long-term crisis. Pray for the aid from Christian and humanitarian organizations to reach the people who are in need, along with that which is necessary for eternal life – the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for the present hardship to be used by God to turn attention toward His Son, Jesus Christ, and that all would accept Him as Lord and Savior. Day 17 China- In what observers are calling “an uncertain political and social climate,” Chinese authorities are fighting change by waging war against Christians. In recent months they have increased their already zealous attempts to discourage or arrest all Believers worshipping outside of the stateapproved church system. Scores of house church leaders have been imprisoned in this campaign. Yet the number of Christians continues to grow explosively. Thank God for His amazing power and ability to transform even intense persecution into fuel for the fires of revival. Pray for Chinese Believers to rejoice as they share in the sufferings of Christ and for their faithful testimony to convict the Chinese authorities. Pray the persecutors will be brought to justice quickly, and that Believers will be able to freely worship God in this land. Pray the persecutors will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Djibouti- Located at the juncture of the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, Djibouti is strategic to the flow of shipping traffic in the Middle East. It is also quite strategic to reaching this region with the Gospel. Though it ranks number 39 on the 2009 Watch List for persecution, the nation is relatively open in terms of evangelism, the population is hungry for more of the Bread of Life. Pray for workers to take the news of Jesus Christ - His life, death, and resurrection - to the waiting people of Djibouti. Pray for God’s purposes for this carefully

purpose for Taiwan and establish His Kingdom in this island nation and unto the ends of the earth.
Day 18
Bahrain- Division, disharmony, and tension have recently arisen in this tiny island nation as the majority Shia Muslims contend against the ruling Sunni Muslims. Protests have been staged in the streets and police have reportedly fired on demonstrators. Pray for God’s peace to be released into this volatile situation. Pray for the eyes of both sides of the conflict to be drawn from their differences to the unifying Love of Jesus Christ. Pray revival will come to this land and that all people of Bahrain will be saved.
Yemen- Nearly l00% Islamic, the tribes of this nation have a long history of kidnapping civilians and expatriates in order to extort money from their governments. Though the victims are usually released without harm, the practice speaks of the lawlessness that is rampant throughout the region. Pray for God’s Spirit to drive out the spirit of lawlessness, replacing greed and violence with His peace, and an unyielding desire to help those in need. Pray for a softening of hearts in this hard, spiritually resistant nation. Pray for the Gospel to pierce the veil the enemy has draped over the eyes of the people of Yemen, and revival will break out in this land with multiple thousands of new Believers coming to the Lord in the next thirty days. Vietnam- The enemy is working hard to deceive the people of this nation through a popular false religion called Falun Gong. Already banned in China, it has reportedly found a “new breeding ground” in Vietnam. It has attracted many because of its alleged health benefits and pretends to teach followers to be “good people.” Pray for God to expose the lies of this growing movement and reveal to the Vietnamese that “all have sinned and fall short” of His glory. Pray for them to realize that no amount of meditation or even good works can outweigh their sin. Pray for the indescribable gift of Jesus Christ to be made known in Vietnam, and every Vietnamese would accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Day 19 Taiwan- The trial of former president, Chen Shui-bian illustrates the identity crisis this nation continues to face. Accused of political wrongdoing, the case pits rival parties against each other. One seeks closer ties with China (which considers Taiwan one of its provinces) and the other seeks independence. Pray for this conflict to be used to remind the Taiwanese people that they can only find true independence in the saving sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Pray for God to fulfill His
Day 20 Brunei- Thanks to its sizable oil and gas reserves, the citizens of Brunei now enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the world. The Prime Minister, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is said to be among the wealthiest men in the world. Pray for God to reveal these riches as fleeting and worthless in terms of Eternity. Pray for the Holy Spirit to communicate the reality of death and judgment to the people and for godly repentance to sweep through the land. Pray for a nation-wide revival. Pray for the vast resources in Brunei to be used for the expansion of God’s Kingdom. Lebanon- Parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7 will not only effect Lebanon but its neighbor Israel. The Israeli government is worried election results could fuel support for Hezbollah – a terrorist group based in Lebanon, reportedly supported by Syria and Iran. Pray for God to move sovereignly in these elections, setting in place those men and women He desires to use in leading Lebanon. Pray for the Hezbollah to lose both financial and popular support. Pray for these terrorists to be physically disarmed and spiritually transformed into humble servants of the Most High God. Pray for the Holy Spirit to flow through the Lebanon like a mighty river, sweeping away every enemy barrier and drawing every heart to Jesus Christ. (Proverbs 8:15; I Timothy 1:15; Isaiah 59:19) Day 21 Qatar- The first Christian church in this nation was inaugurated just last year. Though some of the Wahhabi Musilm residents

(Qatar continued) have criticized its presence, it has been surprisingly well received. Pray for this to be the first of many churches planted in Qatar. Pray for Christians in the nation to be bold in sharing the love and joy of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Pray for the hearts of the Wahhabi Muslims to be prepared to receive the Word of God, Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. Turkmenistan- President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov was instrumental in the adoption of a new constitution in 2008. This effectively did away with the People’s Council (made up of 25,000 tribal elders) and increased the size of the parliament by l00%. Elections held in December were seen as a step toward greater democracy. Pray for this new political openness to usher in true religious freedom in this land. Pray for God to break into this strategically located former Soviet nation, flooding the region with the marvelous Light of His Glorious Son, with multiple thousands of new Believers accepting Him as Savior in the next thirty days. Day 22 Ethiopia- The government recently completed the disposal of more than 54,000 landmines. This was in keeping with an international treaty requirement. Despite this action, however, Ethiopia remains one of the most heavily-mined nations in the world. Many of these, like those destroyed, are aimed at maiming people walking through border regions. Pray for the government to continue to comply with treaty obligations and work to make its borders with Eritrea and Somalia less hazardous to civilians. Pray for God to minister healing and provide hope to the scores who have been injured by these mines. Myanmar (Burma)- The military regime of this country is reportedly carrying out a violent campaign of abuse against all Christians, but specifically targeting those of the Chin minority group. The Chin are already impoverished, some facing starvation. In an effort to escape arrest and torture by authorities, tens of thousands have fled across the border into India. Pray for General Than Shwe and the members of his regime to stop persecuting Christians immediately and to have a powerful, life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. Pray for Believers in Myanmar to put their hope in God and not give in to despair. Pray for the Lord to remind them of His promise never to leave them or forsake them, and to protect them. Day 23 Chad- Chad ranks as the world’s most corrupt country, has been racked with internal conflict in recent years, and is severely impoverished. The mostly-Muslim north and Christian/ animist south continue to clash in a violent struggle for control. Pray for the transforming power of God to come to this troubled land. Pray for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to reach every corner and every people group, and all will accept Him as Lord and Savior. Pray

for the Kingdom to be proclaimed and demonstrated openly in Power, restoring Chad and making it a source of glory and praise to God the world over. Algeria- Elections held in April ushered President Abdelaziz Bouteflika into his third term of office. Opposition parties called the results a fraud and have accused Bouteflika of rigging the outcome. Pray for God’s peace to encompass this Islamic nation. Pray for corruption to be exposed and for Truth to prevail. Pray for an awakening of hearts and spiritual eyes to be opened to see that He is the only lasting peace and unquestionable Truth. Day 24 Libya- President Muammar al-Gadhafi became the chairman of the Africa Union in 2008 and has stated that his vision is to join the nations into a United States of Africa. Since al-Gadhafi is also an ardent proponent of Islam, this is cause for concern. Pray for God to supernaturally reveal Himself to President al-Gadhafi, changing his heart and transforming this passionate Muslim into a passionate Christian who will lead many influential leaders and mind-molders to the Lord. Pray for the Arab Libyans who have never heard the Gospel to experience the saving power of Jesus Christ. Pray for the members of the African Union to exercise wisdom and seek God concerning the future of their Continent, and to allow true religious freedom here. Malaysia- Though Malaysia seems to have made the transition from Third World to industrialized nation, its advances do not include the area of spirituality. The majority of the population is Islamic, followed by a sizable minority of Buddhists. Only 4.1% are believed to be evangelical Christians. Pray for God to destroy the long-standing strongholds of false religion that keep the people bound up in darkness. Pray for Jesus Christ to be exalted over every petty god and idol, and for this seemingly vibrant nation to be released into the destiny God has set for it. Day 25 Oman- When members of the procommunist guerrilla group, Popular Front for the Liberation of Oman (PFLO) swiftly took control of the Dhofar region of this nation in l960s, the Sultan was unprepared. After the conflict was finally resolved with the help of the British, the Sultan determined not to let it happen again. He then formed the Sultan’s Special Forces (SSF), an elite force that still patrols the region today, often assisting other nations in counter terrorism activities. Pray for the Sultan’s Special Forces to be effective in keeping terrorists and insurgents from using Oman as a training grounds. Pray for Sultan Qaboos bin Said All-Said and his people to be prepared not only for militant attacks, but for the day they will face God in judgment. Pray for Jesus Christ to be made known and received in Oman. Kazakhstan- Despite not being ranked on the Open Doors Watch List, this former Soviet republic is leaning closer and

(Kazakhstan continued) closer toward full opposition to the Church. Legislation continues to be put forward that would ban Christian worship, evangelism, and even restrict children from attending services. Pray for God to open the door in Kazakhstan for the proclamation of the Gospel, and unending religious freedom in this land. Pray for His Kingdom to come, His will be done in a land the enemy is zealously trying to claim as his own.
supply of provisions. This directive comes as an estimated 9 million people are in urgent need of food. Pray for God to arise and scatter the enemies of war, greed, and manipulation. Pray for an open door for aid to reach those who are facing starvation. Pray for President Kim Jong-Il to see the suffering of his people, respond with all the resources at his disposal, and be delivered from the bondage of satan.
Day 26
Day 28 Tunisia- Like much of North Africa, Tunisia was home to many Christians until the Islamic invasions of the 7th century. More than a millennium later, it is still nearly l00% Muslim. Pray for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to invade this historically resistant nation and destroy the darkness of Islam. Pray for the Lord to rise up on behalf of those imprisoned by the lies of the enemy and set the captive free.
Cambodia- With tensions rising along the border with neighboring Thailand, Prime Minister Hun Sen recently stated that he does not want the sporadic violence to escalate into war. At issue is a highly valued Khmer temple. Though it was awarded to Cambodia by an international court in l962, the area surrounding it remains a point of contention. Pray for God to lead Hun Sen in his peacemaking efforts and to use this conflict as an opportunity for him to accept the Prince of Peace as his personal Lord and Savior. Pray for the people of both Cambodia and Thailand to have their eyes opened to see that the temple is just a building and cannot offer them lasting joy. Pray for the Good News to be shared with them in a way that turns their attention from the temporal to the eternal, and by accepting Christ as their Savior would lead them to everlasting life. Day 27 Turkey- Prime Minister Erdogen and his administration continue to push for a move away from secular government toward the imposition of Islamic law in this spiritually conflicted nation. It is ranked at 39 on the Open Doors Watch List for the persecution of Christians. Yet God is moving in powerful ways, awakening Believers and drawing Muslims out from darkness, into His liberating light. Many are joining a nationwide campaign of 24/7 prayer that is sure to powerfully impact Turkey. Thank God for the great and marvelous work He is doing even as the enemy conspires to close the country to evangelism. Pray all of the enemy’s attempts to keep the Gospel of Jesus Christ from being preached in this land will be defeated. Pray for Prime Minister Erdogen and his staff to hear and respond to the Gospel and lead the transformation of this nation. Pray for Believers to be strong and of good courage, establishing and extending the Kingdom in this land. North Korea- According to Open Doors, the recent long-range missile test conducted by North Korea in April 2009 is just one of several signs that the government is preparing for war. Field sources say citizens are being ordered to stock a l5-day
June 2009
Somalia- Somalian pirates have made a business of hijacking ships off the coast of this lawless nation. In 2008, they “earned” $30 million. Approximately 30% of this is believed to have been used to bribe government officials in the region. Pray that the principle Somalia clans committing these crimes - the Eyl, Garad, Hobyo, Hardheere, and Mogadishu - will be captured and quickly brought to justice. Pray that the government will restore order and that Shari’a (Islamic) law will not continue to be used to oppress the citizens. Pray for this nation and its inhabitants to operate according to Biblical principles, and pray for an immediate end to all lawlessness and corruption. Pray for this hurting nation to be loosed from the grip of chaos and ushered into the peace and joy of God’s Kingdom. Pakistan- In April 2009, President Asif Ali Zardari signed a resolution that places the Swat Valley region (in the northwest, near the border with China and Afghanistan) under Islamic Shari’a law. The intention, the government stated, was to bring peace with the Taliban, but many fear it will only encourage the extremists to greater campaigns of terrorism. Pray for the president and other officials to take a stand against terrorists and not bow to their threats of violence. Pray for God to intervene, bringing peace to this war-torn nation and especially to the Swat Valley. Pray for Him to protect Christians living in the region and for the Pastors to have Divine wisdom on how to minister to the Believers. Pray the hearts of Taliban leaders will totally embrace and accept Jesus Christ, and they will live for Him. Day 29 Nigeria- After the vicious and deadly violence against Christians in December 2008, many hoped the militant Islamic attacks would come to an end. But as they celebrated the Lord’s resurrection in April 2009, hundreds of Muslim youths assaulted Believers and set their churches on fire. Pray those who are responsible for this lawlessness will be quickly brought to justice. Pray for these Brothers and Sisters as they persevere in serving God in a hostile land. Pray for the Father to comfort those who have lost loved ones and enable them to rejoice in the midst of persecution. Pray for them to forgive their persecutors and for their faithfulness to turn many to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Maldives- The new president of Maldives, Mahamed Nasheed, is concerned that global warming could be causing the sea levels to rise. Because that could spell disaster for this island nation,

(Maldives continued) he has begun searching for a new home for the Maldivian people. Pray for God to reveal true salvation to this Muslim nation, calling them to His Son. Pray for Him to show them their identity in Christ and reveal to them the purpose for which He created them. Jordan- Jordan is unique among the Arab nations of the Middle East for a number of reasons. It borders both Israel and the West Bank, has made peace with Israel, is an ally with a key Western nation, and does not have any known oil reserves. Pray for God to use this unique and ancient nation to bring Him glory. Pray for Jordan to become a staging area for the Kingdom of God to be declared throughout the Middle East. Pray for the Muslim citizens to see the emptiness of their religion and the wealth of joy and life found in Christ. Pray for the unity of the Church in Jordan, and for an immediate end of the Jordanian government’s attempts to divide the Church, and cause mistrust amongst the Christians leaders in this land. Senegal- This impoverished nation is working hard to promote tourism as a means of generating income. Former slave ports have been transformed into coastal resorts. However, the global downturn in the economy, along with reports of child prostitution in beach towns, have kept vacationers away. Pray for God to give the government of Senegal creative ideas for combating poverty, and for an immediate end to child prostitution. Pray for deliverance for every man who has hired a child prostitute. Pray for the plans of the wicked, who are so quick and eager to promote prostitution, drugs, and other illicit activities, to be defeated. Pray for God to give this country’s leadership Divine wisdom to greatly improve their economy in ways that bring Glory to God and expand His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. Day 30 Eritrea- According to Human Rights Watch, the government of Eritrea is turning the nation into a “giant prison.” Citizens are being detained without charges and refugees are being forced to return, only to face arrest and torture. Eritrea continues to be one of the worst persecutors of Christians, ranked 9th in the world on the Open Doors Watch List. Pray for President Afworki and the leadership of this small nation to encounter the living Christ. Pray for the government to forsake its paranoid behavior and its violent treatment of the citizens. Pray for an immediate release of all Believers who are in prisons of any kind- including those who have been locked in metal containers in unbearable heat. Pray the Lord will supernaturally feed Believers who are, in some cases, eating leaves in order to survive. Pray for Believers - especially the thousands who have been imprisoned - to be strengthened by the joy of the Lord and continue to be witnesses for His glory. Tibet- In March 2009, Tibetans around the world took to the streets to protest the 50th anniversary of China’s control of the region. The government in Beijing believes it liberated Tibet. Many citizens, however, are desperate to be set free from what they consider oppressive rule. Pray for Tibetans to become desperate for God - passionate to find Him and be set free from sin. Pray for peace between China and Tibet.
June 2009
Pray for Believers to remain faithful to God in the midst of this political turmoil and be effective witnesses of Christ to the Buddhist majority. Syria- The recent premier of “Damascus” (a film depicting the life of the Apostle Paul) in Syria is a sign that God is moving in this Muslim nation. The movie and its story were well received by both government leaders and journalists. Pray for God to continue to call the hearts of Syrians, and for them to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. Pray for the Gospel to be clearly communicated and result in a bountiful harvest of souls within the next thirty days. Mongolia- After gaining independence from the Soviet Union in l990, Mongolia was rewarded not only with freedom, but with grinding poverty and unemployment. Though the region is rich in natural resources - especially mineral deposits - the economy has failed to grow. A major factor is the presence of corruption in government and industry. Pray for God to expose those who are dealing wickedly with the citizens, stealing from them and causing them additional hardship. Pray for new industries and opportunities to be revealed in order for the nation to prosper. Pray for God to receive glory for their success. Pray for people to turn away from idols and worship the only True and Living God. Pray for God to continue the spiritual revival in this land. Day 31 East Timor- In l999, after a bloody, 25-year conflict with Indonesia that resulted in more than l00,000 Timorese deaths, the nation finally gained independence (it was formally declared in 2002). As is often the case, however, this newfound freedom brought with it a season of violence and poverty. Ten years later, U.N. forces are still in the country to maintain security. Pray for God to sovereignly heal the wounds that keep the people of Timor from experiencing true freedom. Pray for Jesus Christ to be proclaimed and exalted on East Timor, drawing the divergent parties and people groups together. The Gambia- Human rights agencies are concerned over government attempts to silence opposition party members through arrests and torture. Pray for these evil, hidden deeds to be exposed and brought into the open (Mark 4:22). Pray for God to raise up leaders who fear Him and will lead the people with compassion and integrity. Pray for Believers to demonstrate God’s love and righteousness in both their actions and their words. Gaza Strip- Israel’s new prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu recently stated that he will not entertain the idea of a separate Palestinian state. He has also demanded that Palestinians diplomatically recognize Israel before he will engage in peace talks. Pray for the tenuous ceasefire between Israel and Gaza to be maintained. Pray for the Prince of Peace to bring His rule to this turbulent region, turning hearts of both Muslims and Jews to the true and Living God. West Bank- In April 2009, a British playwright compared the barrier separating Israel and the West Bank with the Berlin Wall. While Israel argues that the fence is a necessary defense

(West Bank continued) against suicide bombers and Palestinian terrorists, world opinion is increasingly turning against them. Pray for God’s will to prevail in the Middle East conflict. Pray for the protection of civilians who are living in this hazardous war-zone. Pray for Believers to be light in the darkness, lifting up Jesus Christ as the only mediator of true and lasting Peace. Window International Network Pray for God to anoint the WIN staff with the ability to communicate His heart for the nations of the l0/40 Window. Ask Him to remove personal opinions and attitudes, brushing aside any and every pretension that seeks to oppose His Will. Pray for God’s compassion and love for the lost and unreached to be clearly expressed through WIN. Pray for Him to use His ministry to call His People to pray, give, go, send, and bless the l0/40 Window. Pray His Kingdom will be established in the 10/40 Window nations , glorifying His Son, Jesus Christ above all else. (Psalm 105:l)
INDIA: THE “X FACTOR” Many feared Hindu fundamentalists would prevail in India’s recent elections. Experts and pollsters predicted a sure win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After a year filled with violence against Christians, even some Believers were convinced that the BJP would dominate the election. Instead, voters surprised everyone (except One) by handing 262 parliament seats to the Congress Party – the “secular party known for its advocacy for minorities and sensitivity to social issues.” Another surprise involved the reelection of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He is the first full-time prime minister to be elected to a second term in 40 years. “The enormity of the defeat is such that there will have to be serious, honest, and widespread introspection of every issue…” a BJP strategist told The Washington Post. Journalists, political observers, and members of various parties are at a loss to explain these events. Some have begun crediting the amazing results to a mysterious “X Factor.” Dr. Richard Howell of the Evangelical Fellowship of India is quick to point out that the “X Factor” is none other than God. “God does hear prayer and delivers,” Dr. Howell said. He and the Evangelical Fellowship of India are now calling on Indian Christians to pray for their rulers. Please join these precious Brothers and Sisters in giving thanks to God for His wonderful answers to the prayers of His people. Pray for the new leaders of India to remain humble and to be faithful to the voters who elected them. Pray for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as he sets out on a new term. Pray for God to grant him wisdom and the ability to govern with righteousness. Pray for Believers to grow in unity and boldly share their faith throughout the land. Pray for God’s Kingdom to so overwhelm India that it will become known as a Christian nation. Sources: Evangelical Fellowship of India, World Christian Ministries, The Washington Post

Global Harvest of Souls
I
t is 2000 years since the Church was born. The Day of the Pentecost is the birthday of the ekklesia. It was marked by:
1. Ten days of dedicated Prayer. 2. Anointing with speaking in at least 14 new languages 3. Apostolic teaching, call to repentance and the promise of anointing for our families. 4. Baptism of 3000 souls 5. Their flocking, maturing, rapid growth, multiplication and dispersion through house church movement. The seeker driven New Testament ekklesia (one which actively seeks and saves the lost) continued the process with discipling, baptizing, flocking, equipping and mentoring multiethnic, multi-generational Believers resulting in multitudes being added “every day” and the ekklesia grew in faith and in numbers daily. Acts 2:46,47;1; 16:5) These are the “greater works of the Holy Spirit” that Jesus had promised (John 14:12-17). The Lord said to Adam, “Be fruitful and multiply, subdue the earth and have dominion over it” (Genesis 1:28). In complete rebellion to The Lord’s command, Nimrod built the tower of Babel so that they may not be scattered abroad. Many of us suffer from Nimrod syndrome and build our towers to keep church members in bondage. The Pentecost changed everything. The Lord poured out His Spirit on all flesh: on men, women, Jews, Gentiles, Parthians, Medes and on people from Mesopotamia, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia and from every tongue, tribe and nation under heaven. They broke bread from house to house with one accord without gender, class, social or racial asymmetry. Thousands of new Believers went to the ends of the earth, preached the Gospel, made disciples and planted churches. Mary, Lydia, Priscilla, Phoebe, Junia, Nympha and other women then fuelled the explosive growth of the Gospel. Jewish orthodoxy did not allow priests to touch women, not even eye contact, so women baptized each other (Acts 1:14; 2:5-11, Math. 5:28). In the today’s expression of the Pentecost at the Azusa Street in 1906, the revival was started by a Black woman named Neely Terry, in a church led by a woman pastor named Julia Hutchins. Later it shifted to Ruth Asberry’s house until it collapsed and shifted to Azusa Street. Their Black leader William Seyamour, spoke in tongues for the first time in Ruth’s house church. After his death, Jenny his wife, became the pastor of the Azusa Street church. Men, women, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Chinese, rich and poor freely worshipped as one Body. There were no choirs, musical instruments, sermons or collection boxes. Hundreds came every day. A core group of 18 African-American women led the movement. They are now the biggest and the fastest growing church worldwide with 500 million Pentecostals and Charismatics. Women’s empowerment is the key to rapid acceleration of saturation church planting movement.

The Father’s will is that none should perish but come to know the truth and be saved (2Pet. 3:9; 1Tim. 2:4). Sadly millions of Christians are stuck in the wilderness of Prayer cells, Bible
study classes, endless meetings and fruitless church programs. What use are all these activities if we do not move to the next level and convert the harvest into lasting fruit (John 15:16)? The Father has given a promised land and people, to each Believer (Ps. 2:8). We need to repent and replicate the Pentecost model and convert unfruitful Christians into champion disciple makers and baptizers. Then only the four billion people on the planet who have not been baptized can be saved from eternal Hell. Jesus was accused of baptizing more people than John the Baptist (John 4:1). Peter opened his account with 3000 baptisms. To delay baptism is unbiblical (Mark 16:16). Everyone in the New Testament was baptized on the day of their accepting the Lordship of Jesus. Jesus, Peter and Paul, relegated dunking to their juniors (1Cor.1:14-17). No Believer was ever baptized by a priest in a baptistry in the New Testament. Jesus was baptized in a river, the Ethiopian treasurer in a pond and the Philippian jailor in the prison tank. Many Diaspora merchants and craftsmen who were present on the Day of Pentecost went and evangelized the greater part of the East travelling as far as Persia (Iran), India and China via the Silk Roads (Acts 2:5-11). Arbela and Edessa in northern Mesopotamia, Urfa in Turkey, Baghdad in Iraq and Cananore in India were all trading cities that provided a strategic springboard for the spread of Christianity. By AD 225 there were twenty bishoprics throughout the lands of the Magi (wisemen from the east). The Western Jewish Persia (Iraq) converted to Christ until Khadija, a merchant woman married Mohammed, the founder of Islam, in the 7th century AD and changed the religious and political landscape. The church’s insistence on using Syriac, a Semitic language, rather than using the local language, and its orthodoxy, ritualism, intolerance and ruthless exploitation, the Islamic Sharia (law) came as a relief. The sons of Ishmael (Muslims) then overran the Bible lands including Jerusalem (AD 638) and decimated the followers of Isa Bin Maryam (Christians) for a millennium (Habak.1:5-11). Praise The Lord that the Bible lands of Abraham, Daniel, Esther, Nehemiah, Joseph such as Iran, Iraq, Mongolia, Turkey, Afganistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan and others are once again on the boil as tens of thousands of children of Ishmael, the son of Hagar, are now seeing dreams and visions and becoming followers of Jesus Christ. It is time to bless the other sons and daughters of Abraham born of His wife Katura and the concubines whom he sent eastward, to India, China and beyond (Gen 25:1-6). India needs to give Bath of Purification to 100,000 people per day (presently 5000) and the rest of the world needs to baptize one
June 2009
million people (presently 180,000) every day to catch up with the birth rate and the backlog. Pentecost (fifty), is the name given by the Christians. The Jews call it Shavuot (Weeks) or more appropriately, Hag Ha Katsir, “The Feast of Reaping and Gathering the harvest” based on Exo. 23:16. “And the “feast of harvest”, the firstfruits of your labours, which thou has “sown in the field”: and the “feast of ingathering”... when thou has “gathered” in thy labours out of the field.” Jews believe that The Lord gave the Torah (Law) on the Pentecost on Mount Sinai. The Book of Ruth is studied all night as her life was related to gleaning the harvest. It is a day when people like Ruth, a despised Moabite, should be saying to us, “Your people will be my people and your God will be my God.” (Ruth 1:16) Thousands of people gathered from all over the world in Jerusalem with animals, grains and first fruits to offer as sacrifice on the day of the Pentecost. Jesus changed it into a day of gathering the harvest of souls. After being anointed with the Holy Spirit, the disciples did not stay inside the building shouting Hallelujah, Praise the Lord and speaking in tongues but burst out among the people in the city and shared the Gospel with them in their language, brought them to repentance and baptized them in the nearby pools, all on the same day. Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to the ekklesia to “reap and gather a rich harvest of souls”. Sadly many churches continue in the old dispensation and selfishly gather harvest of money. Jesus did not ask us to go and get baptized and decorate the pews. He commanded us to go and make disciples and baptize. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit; teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. (Math. 28:19) Every seeker driven church and indeed every Believer should celebrate the Day of Pentecost as the Global day of Harvest of Souls with discipling and baptizing thousands of souls. Praise the Lord for His marvelous ways and work in Kazakhstan!
od listens when we pray for presidents and prime ministers. He answers even when those rulers are opposed to His Will and Kingdom. Recent events in Kazakhstan reveal God’s power and authority over such men and His ability to direct them as He pleases. President Nursultan Nazarbaev, the authoritarian ruler of that Muslim-majority nation, recently decided not to challenge a court ruling that overturned a restrictive religious law. The Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan decided that the law violated the constitution. Amazingly, Nazarbaev agreed! Human rights groups saw this as a victory. Believers should see it as yet another reason to praise God for His faithfulness in responding to prayer. Barnabas Fund and other organizations that call attention to Christian persecution point out that there is still much oppression taking place in Kazakhstan. Unregistered Christian activities have been banned, members of unregistered churches are not allowed to share their faith, and outreach activities are extremely limited. These and other laws resulted in Kazakhstan being ranked 50th on the Open Doors World Watch List 2009 of worst persecutors. Despite this, the number of Christians in the Islamic nation continues to rise. God is moving powerfully. He desires Kazaks to be well represented among those worshipping before His throne in Heaven for all eternity.

JOSHUA PROJECT “J
oshua Project is a research initiative seeking to highlight the ethnic people groups of the world with the least followers of Jesus Christ.” This organization is working to fulfill the Great Commission. By gathering, compiling, and organizing the latest statistics about the world’s people groups, Joshua Project is playing a central role in making Matthew 24:l4 a reality: “This Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Joshua Project was founded in l995 as part of the AD2000 and Beyond Movement. In 2006 it became a ministry of the U.S. Center for World Missions. Its goal is to focus attention on those people groups that require evangelism, church-planting, and Bible translation work in order to be reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Perhaps the greatest service this organization provides is helping Christians, churches, ministries and missions organizations consider the question: “Where is the greatest need?” They supply the answer through an assortment of maps, graphs, pictures, and profiles. All of this data calls attention to three basic facts: l) the task is not finished, 2) there are thousands of unreached people groups still waiting

Salam! My name is Abbas. I live in Yemen, a country on the bottom of the Arabian Peninsula. Last week my life changed forever. Because of Jesus! It all started, as I was sweeping out the spice shop where I worked. [Even though I am only nine years old, I have to work – all Yemeni children are taught to work when we are very young.] While I was sweeping, I became very tired and hungry. But I could not stop to rest or eat. The shop owner would think I was lazy and might fire me. Since I didn’t have a family, I needed the job. Without it, I would have nowhere to go. Suddenly I noticed a hummingbird perched in a nearby tree. He told me his name was Hymnie and said he would pray for me – asking Jesus to help me. “God loves you, Abbas,” he said. Then, he flew away. I thought, What a nice hummingbird! He was so kind and colorful. But I was a Muslim boy. I had never heard of Jesus. I didn’t know what he meant about Jesus helping me. As I continued sweeping, I grew more and more tired. I kept thinking, “If only I could sit down for a moment and rest my eyes.” I finally took a burlap bag from the spice shop, folded it into a pillow, and stretched out under the tree where Hymnie had been humming. The cool shade from the tree covered me and I quickly fell asleep and began to dream. In my dream, I saw Jesus. He told me He died on the Cross so that I could live in heaven with Him for eternity. He told me not to worry about anything. He said He was going to help me. All I needed to do, He said, was believe He was my Savior and Lord. When I woke up, I felt… different. It’s hard to explain. My heart was happy. In my mind, I kept seeing Jesus’ loving face and hearing His words. As I was returning to my work, the shop owner came outside. He saw that I had stopped sweeping and began to shout, telling me how lazy I was. Somehow, his mean words bounced off of me like a rubber ball bouncing off of a wall. I could see his angry face and hear his voice, but the things he said did not hurt me. I could still see Jesus’ face and hear His voice. And that made me happy. As the owner turned to walk away, a man approached. ”Sabah el kheer [“Good morning!”], the man greeted. “I have come to take my son home.” The shop owner frowned at him. “Your son??” “Yes. This little boy is my son,” the man said. “He was stolen from us years ago by evil men who wanted to make money. We have been searching for him ever since. He is not an orphan. He has a family.” The man looked at me. “And we miss him very much.” The shop owner opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say. He just stood there as

this man – my father! – took me in his arms. I began to cry and my father did too. The shop owner muttered something and went back inside. “Do you know how I found you, son?” my father asked. I shook my head. “It was so strange. A little hummingbird came and led me to you. He said he knew where you were and that Jesus was going to bring us together today to show us how much He loves us. I don’t know very much about Jesus, son, but I do know only the True God could find you and bring me to you. Jesus must be true. And Jesus must be God.” He held my hand. “Let’s go home.” I left my broom lying on the ground in front of the shop and started up the road with my father. As we walked, Hymnie swooped down from the sky and rested on my shoulder. After a long time in the hot sun, we came to a place that seemed familiar. I saw a woman standing by the road and I knew at once it was my mother. I ran to her and tears of joy ran down both of our faces as we hugged each other. With a quick wink, Hymnie flew away—his job was finished. That’s my story. So far. I have a family – a father and a mother – and we are learning about Jesus together. And we had made a decision: as for us, we will always serve the Lord.
