Praise Report

“ We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.”–The Bible, Psalm 75:1

Nigeria The Fellowship of Churches of

Christ in Nigeria is planning a number of small business and agricultural projects which they hope will foster peace between Christians and Muslims. Violence in the north has been fierce and ongoing, with Muslims attacking Christians. Homes and businesses are often destroyed. “We believe that projects jointly owned by Christians and Muslims cannot be destroyed because they belong to them,” the coordinator of the program said, “and [would] bridge the relationship gap between them.” Proposed projects include farms, water wells, and skill centers to train youth and widows. Give thanks to the Lord for this idea and pray for its success. Ask the Lord to give Christians opportunities to share the love of Christ and for Muslims to be drawn to Him in great numbers.

reportedly exposed. Praise the Lord for Mr. Jun’s release and ask the Lord to heal and strengthen him. Pray for the church in North Korea to stand firm in the Lord. Petition the Lord for the salvation of key leaders in the North Korean government.

WIN Harvest Of Souls Global Prayer Meeting Christian Brothers and

Sisters from at least nine different countries – eight of them 10/40 Window nations – gathered together via the internet on June 15 to pray. Hosted by Window International Network, the team of intercessors spent three hours agreeing together for a great harvest of souls in the final frontier of missions. Praise the Lord for this tremendous event and give thanks for the impact it will have in reaching the lost and unreached of the 10/40 Window. Continue lifting these nations before the Lord, asking for multitudes to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

The Lord’s name is very near, as the following praise reports testify.

Window Sunday October 2, 2011

A special opportunity to focus prayer on a region of the world that is home to: ®® the majority of the world’s Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists ®® the majority of the world’s least-reached people groups ®® the poorest of the poor (more than eight of every 10 impoverished people) ®® 45 of the 50 nations where Christians are most persecuted

When? The first Sunday of every October. This year, 10/40 Window Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday, October 2.

Where? In your home, with your small group, at church…. Anywhere Christians gather to seek the Lord.

Why? Because the 10/40 Window is the “final frontier” of world missions. In order to finish the task given to the Church, we need to pray! “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you….”–The Bible, Matthew 28:19,20

How? Mark Sunday, October 2 on your calendar. Tell your friends, family, small group, pastor…. Plan to join with Window International Network and countless Christians around the globe in interceding for the 10/40 Window.

You don’t have to wait until October. Start praying today! Visit us at www.WIN1040.com for nation profiles, prayer points, and to learn about how you can get involved in reaching the people of the 10/40 Window.

The World’s Oldest Professi According to the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women, the median age for entering prostitution worldwide is 14.

I

t has been called the world’s oldest profession. But women who sell their bodies to men for sexual purposes seldom consider it a vocation or a career. Neither do they engage in it because it is highly profitable. They do it because they are struggling to survive. They do it because they have to. As one young prostitute admitted, “No one would really choose this as a way of life. No one.” That’s the case for untold thousands of prostitutes in the world today. Many of them are victims of human trafficking. They were lured with false promises of job opportunities or even kidnapped and forced into the sex industry. According to the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW), the median age for entering prostitution worldwide is 14. Those under 12 are almost all sold into sexual exploitation by family members. Despite these facts, there are some (a very, very few) women who are

6 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

working in the sex industry by choice. They see it as a means of achieving a goal and often have no skill or education to turn to as an alternative. A 22-year-old in Cambodia admitted that she had been “rescued” twice but both times returned to prostitution. She stated that she had “no intention of leaving the trade – a least until she becomes ‘too ugly.’” Women and girls are driven into prostitution by a variety of causes, says CATW, including gender inequality, globalization, poverty, racism, migration and the collapse of women’s economic stability. But underneath all of this is a single, simpler cause: demand. “Male demand for a supply of women and children is the root cause of prostitution and trafficking,” explains CATW. This demand, the Bible reminds us, is driven by sin. Man’s fallen nature is what motivates the desire for illicit sexual relationships. Lust and the love of money fuel the industry and account for its continued growth.

www.WIN1040.com

In battling prostitution and human trafficking, we must attack the roots. The perpetrators (men seeking sex), traffickers, and victims all desperately need a Savior. Only as they are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ will this cycle of abuse, violence and greed be broken. “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever, who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food for the hungry. The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners. The LORD opens the eyes of the blind; the LORD raises those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous. The LORD watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; but the way of the wicked He turns upside down.” -The Bible, Psalm 146:5-9. Eve Teasing

That phrase can be deceiving. Eve teasing has nothing to do with playful teasing and everything to do with physical and emotional assault and violation. It is actually a euphemism for sexual harassment. Eve teasing is most often committed by youths. Traveling in packs, they converge on women, making sexual comments, touching them, and even groping them in public. Some say

Eve teasing gets its name from Eve in the Bible. Teasing, they explain, comes from Eve being a tease and tempting Adam to disobey God and eat the forbidden fruit. Those men who practice it often consider it innocent fun. Women, however, have described it as a “little rape. Though Eve teasing is common in India, it can also be found in the 10/40 Window nations of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. Pray for the passage of laws and for better prosecution of perpetrators. (The Bible, Proverbs 21:15) the Lord to protect the women in these countries from abusive men. Pray for Him to be their refuge and fortress. (The Bible, Psalm 31:2)

magine if women in your nation had to be accompanied by a male guardian – her husband, brother or father – when they ventured out of their homes. Imagine if women were not allowed to appear in court without a man. Imagine if they were banned from driving cars. Imagine if women had to be covered, head to toe, with loose-fitting fabric. In Saudi Arabia, the women don’t have to imagine. These and other restrictions are imposed upon them on a daily basis. They are not, however, the result of

an oppressive regime or a Communist government. The plight of women in Saudi Arabia is the result of a false religious system. Namely, Islam. Shari’a law and tribal customs in Saudi Arabia dictate what women can and cannot do. Religious police (known as mutawaa’in) are charged with “promoting virtue and preventing vice.” They do this by patrolling and accosting any women who violate the strict code of dress and behavior.

The effect of this supervision and control can be seen in a growing discontent and frustration. “Why was I born a girl?” a 13-year-old was heard asking her mother. “This is a country of men and I would like to be one.” Though the laws – whether formal or cultural – are supposedly in place to keep women safe, some Saudi women believe they allow men to shirk their responsibilities and maintain control.

Pray for the tearing down of the strongholds of Islam in Saudi Arabia. (The Bible, II Corinthians 10:4)

Petition the Lord to make the Gospel known throughout this Muslim nation. Pray for the strongholds of Islam to be torn down and for the people to be set free by the truth of Jesus Christ. South Sudan Independence Day

Š 2011 Window International Network

July 2011

On July 9, South Sudan will officially become an independent nation. After years of conflict with the mostlyMuslim North, the mostly-Christian South voted to secede. While there are still many details to be taken care of (such as the border between North and South), the process is in motion and has been approved by Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir. Breaking free from its northern neighbor will be difficult – not simply because of the violence that has and could continue to break out, but because of a host of other very serious challenges. “The biggest [challenge],” writes SouthSudanNation.com, “is a shocking lack of public services. At the moment southerners are loyal mostly to belligerent tribal chiefs, not the nascent government that led the fight for independence. That government will win the trust of its citizens, and with it permanent peace, only when it starts visibly caring for them. Ever lasting

Treasure “Any temporal possession can be turned into everlasting wealth.” A.W. Tozer

The Bible tells us that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil and has even caused some Christians to stray from the faith (The Bible, I Timothy 6:10). But it never says money itself is evil. Money can be used for a variety of purposes. It can be held loosely or with tight, stingy fists. It can be spent frivolously or invested wisely. Money can be a powerful tool for blessing or a weapon of destruction. What does God expect us to do with our money? As His stewards, we need to carefully consider this question. Our goal is faithfulness (The Bible, I Corinthians 4:2). How can we be faithful with the resources the Lord has entrusted to us? The reason God gives us earthly treasure is so that we can store up heavenly treasure. We do that by using it to advance His Kingdom.

“As base a thing as money often is, it yet can be transmuted into everlasting treasure” A.W. Tozer

They met in a closed country. Would they be attacked? Each person came knowing they might not return home alive. Boldly, 7,000 Christian men, women and children gathered in this Muslim nation to pray for the 10/40 Window. Pastor B,* the organizer of the event, invited WIN president, Beverly Pegues, to pray with them via SKYPE. Together, they cried out to God for a great harvest of souls. In 2008, Pastor B had no compassion for Muslims and refused to pray for them. However, a generous WIN partner enabled him to attend WIN’s leadership Summit. God transformed his heart at that Summit. Now, Pastor B brings Christ’s love to those he once hated. Using the training he received from WIN, Pastor B held three seminars in 2009 and four more in 2010. WIN sponsored one of the seminars in 2010, empowering 191 leaders!

by Praying Openly for the 10/40 Window The leaders Pastor B has trained have gone to their villages and cities, held seminars of their own, and trained more leaders. The effect is exponential! This year, the WIN Leadership Training Summit will be held in Indonesia from September 5-11. And you can be part of it. Back in 2008, the Summit radically changed Pastor B’s life and ministry. Why? Because someone like you helped him get there. Please consider sponsoring a leader like Pastor B with a financial investment of $2,500, $100, $50 or $35. Rally your friends, family, small group or church to change a leader’s life and impact the 10/40 Window.

Iran According to “Operation World,” Iran is home to the fastest growing evangelical Christian population in the world. This may seem strange since it is an Islamic nation with an oppressive government that actively tracks down and arrests Christians.

In December 2010, about 120 Christians were arrested after the government learned about a network of house churches and deemed them a threat to the state. While about half of those arrested have been released, some are on bail, which “can range between a few thousand dollars and the deed on a house.” What is taking place in Iran today is a modern illustration of Matthew 16:18: “…On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” The Church in Iran continues to grow despite fierce opposition. There is also beginning to be division within the government. In May 2011, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei engaged in what has been called a “feud.” Khamenei publically rebuked Ahmadinejad and observers predicted the president would either be impeached or forced to resign. Somehow, he survived. 32 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

One of Iran’s top clerics has stated publicly that he believes President Ahmadinejad has been put “under a spell” by his chief of staff. “I do not know if it is hypnotism, a spell or relations with yogis,” the cleric said. “But there is something wrong.” An Ayatollah added that there is a “deviant current” around the president. Despite this disunity and suspicion, the government of Iran continues to intently pursue the development of nuclear weapons. It has been reported by a German newspaper (“Die Welt”) that Iran signed a secret agreement with Venezuela to build a missile instillation in South America. The goal, the newspaper reported, is to “establish a New World Order that will eliminate Western dominance over global affairs.” According to a report by the International Atomic Energy Commission, Iran could be less than two months away from creating a nuclear bomb. God is at work in Iran. That much is certain. But the enemy also seems to be quite active in this nation and among its leaders. How do you feel when you hear about children in 10/40 Window nations who are in danger because they believe in Jesus Christ? Are you ever afraid of being treated badly just for praying to our Lord, or telling people about Jesus? It would take a lot of COURAGE to pray and share the love of God, wouldn’t it? Your faith in Yahweh would have to be very STRONG. Your faith in Jesus would have to be more important than anything people might say or do to you. Over the next thirty days, friends, Hymnie wants you to be THANKFUL for the freedom you have to worship God without “persecution” (being treated badly). Are you thankful you can go to church without getting in trouble? Are you thankful your family is safe at home when they sing worship songs and pray together? Wow! That really is something to think about. Hymnie wants you to do two things this month – with the help of your parents! First, every day, thank God for the freedom you have to worship Jesus. It truly is a blessing! Second, memorize this Scripture verse: “ Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 5:10 Let’s remember those in the 10/40 Window who face persecution for believing in Jesus Christ.

Here is a little game to help you begin to memorize Matthew 5:10. Print off this page and use it to help you to hide this Scripture verse in your heart!

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 5:10 Now fill in the blanks!
