Praise Report

“ We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.”–The Bible, Psalm 75:1

SOMALIA Most reports coming out of Somalia in recent months have involved terrorism and violence against Christians. So it is wonderful to finally hear some good news: In December 2010, a football (soccer) tournament was held by the Somalia Football Federation. “Holding a football tournament with teams from 15 regions of Somalia is an achievement in itself,” IRIN News reports. “The footballers taking part in the tournament have never known a unified Somalia.” The goal of the tournament was to boost peace and reconciliation. This was the first football event since 1987. The opening ceremony brought tears to many of the more than 300 players and coaches. “There were a lot of people crying,” one participant said. “Mostly the older people who could remember [a unified] Somalia. We all felt like true Somalis.” Give thanks to God for using sports as a means of bringing unity to a very divided and broken nation. Pray for this to be a starting place for peace and to truly bring reconciliation between groups in Somalia and also between Somalis and God through Jesus Christ.

India More than 500 Christians were murdered and thousands displaced in Orissa, India in July 2008 when Hindu extremists

went on a killing spree. In the aftermath of this great tragedy, something rather strange has been happening. “In recent months,” one 2009 report stated, “herds of wild elephants have begun to storm villages that are home to some of the worst persecutors of Christians during the troubles. Gaining momentum, [the elephants] rampaged through other non-Christian homes, demolishing gardens and singling out the homes of persecutors, leaving Christian homes untouched.” While this report is unconfirmed, it has been widely circulated and is causing many – especially Hindus in Orissa – to wonder if perhaps God is behind the phenomenon. Praise the Lord for His great and awesome works. Give thanks for His power over all creation. Pray for Him to comfort Christians in Orissa (many of whom are still recovering from the physical and emotional damage of the attacks), and reveal Himself in glory to the Hindus. Pray for a great harvest of souls in Orissa.

MOROCCO Six members of a terrorist

cell were captured in Morocco in late December 2010. According to CNN, they had “considerable experience” in making explosive devices. Authorities say the men were part of a network planning to “attack

‘hot spots across the world.’” Praise the Lord for the capture of these terrorists and for bringing an end to their attempts to control and manipulate through intimidation. Pray for more of these arrests and for extremist groups throughout the 10/40 Window to be exposed and defeated.

AFGHANISTAN The general mood among

the citizens of this war-torn nation is reportedly rather bleak. “There is a general sense of hopelessness prevalent throughout the population,” writes one missions worker. “In spite of this lack of hope, God seems to be building up a small group of individuals who are seeing the light – seeing that real hope can only come through the Lord and Savior, alIsa Massiah! Amidst the chaos and insecurity, God is raising a new generation to form the New Afghanistan – one that would be formed by the plans and purposes of His Kingdom!” Give thanks to God for this good news and for the many wonderful and mysterious ways He is working in Afghanistan. Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue drawing the people of Afghanistan – one by one, family by family,

village by village, clan by clan. Ask the Lord to keep harvest workers in this nation safe and give them new and inventive ideas for reaching Afghanistan with the Gospel.

Iran A man accused of “harboring

Christians and allowing his home to be used as a home-based church” was released after being detained for a month. The release is, however, temporary, and came only after he was forced to post $15,000. Give praise to the Lord for the release of this courageous Christian Brother. Pray for his safety, the safety of his family and home church, and for all of our Church Family in Iran. Also in Iran, according to Smyrna Ministries International, “A Christian couple met for discipleship with believers, and each time they met, they were joined by family. In the process eight more family members came to Christ.” Praise the Lord for the marvelous things He is doing in Iran!

The Lord’s name is very near, as the following praise reports testify.

A New Thing

Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. -The Bible, Isaiah 43:19 Our God is a God of new things. He creates, gives birth to, and accomplishes deeds that astound us. He also seems to take great delight in confounding our expectations. “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” (The Bible, Isaiah 55:8).

So we can rest assured that what He is doing will result in the salvation of souls. Perhaps He is making a Way in the Arab wilderness, providing a River of Life in the desert of a false religion. Maybe the unrest in places like Tunisia, Egypt, and Lebanon is going to result in Muslims being set free from the bondage of Islam. We can certainly pray for this.

So we shouldn’t be surprised by what has been taking place in the 10/40 Window in recent weeks – especially in North Africa and the Middle East. Though we could not have predicted the street protests and the toppling of governments, the LORD not only knew this would happen but was and is in control of the situation. What is He up to? We might not be able to provide specific answers to that question, but we do know this: the LORD is good, faithful, and all-powerful.

Tunisia has been hailed as a model of good government and moderate Islamic practices. It was once considered the future and hope of Africa. But all that changed on December 17, 2010 when Mohamed Bouazizi set himself on fire.

This act of protest – known as “self-immolation” – sparked riots throughout Tunisia and launched a revolution that forced President Zine el-Abedine Ben Ali to flee the nation. Demonstrations continued, calling for the rest of the government to be replaced. On January 30, the leader of the most powerful Islamist movement in Tunisia returned to the country after 22 years in exile. He was welcomed by a crowd of thousands and rallied the people to “unite on a path to ‘democracy, justice, and equality.” The instability in Tunisia quickly spilled over into other North African nations, as well as the Middle East. Several copy-cat acts of selfimmolation were committed in Algeria, Mauritania and Egypt.

Bouazizi was a street vender whose sole source of income was selling fruits and vegetables from a cart. Although permits are not required for this activity, police reportedly confiscated his equipment and knocked over his cart, saying he needed a permit. “After he failed to find redress through the government,” one news source reported, “Bouazizi doused himself with paint thinner and lit himself on fire. He died of his severe injuries January 4, 2011.”

the Lord to orchestrate these events, protecting the citizens of Tunisia from government oppression and rooting out corruption on all levels. Pray for the people to cry out to the Lord for help. (The Bible, Job 35:9) this turmoil to be used by the Lord to provide new opportunities for the Gospel to be proclaimed in Tunisia. Pray for the hearts of the people to be soft, fertile ground for the Word of God. (The Bible, Romans 10:13-15; Matthew 13:23)

Though the first two nations have thus far avoided an escalation of violence, Egypt has experienced a massive wave of revolt that has put the government in jeopardy. Lebanon is also feeling the repercussions. The United Nations is sending a team to Tunisia to investigate allegations of human rights violations. Officials are calling for calm, saying the revolution is over. “Tunisia is not in crisis,” they claim. Sourced: REUTERS, NY Times, Tunisia Online News

the salvation of Muslims in Tunisia. Ask the Lord for a great harvest of souls in this nation. (The Bible, I Timothy 2:4) the Lord to keep Christians in Tunisia safe. Pray for them to boldly proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. (The Bible, Psalm 91:1,2; Ephesians 6:19) the Kingdom of God to come to Tunisia and all of North Africa. Pray for signs, wonders, miracles, dreams and visions to draw people in this region into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. FROM THE

FIELD “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” (The Bible, Isaiah 61:1) What impact do your prayers and donations have on the 10/40 Window? The following account from one of our many contacts inside this region provides a powerful glimpse. My Gospel journey started after traveling seven hours on taxi. [I] started having fellowship and God worked wonders. Young in faith people not only received the truth of the Gospel but also saw God’s healing power. God also enabled people to renounce their old nature and come to repentance fully. From the first stop there was hardly [a] motorable road so [I] started walking and in the evening sharing [the] Gospel, during the day taking [the] Gospel to the new people who do not know our Creator. 10 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

Beloved, God gave me strength to walk days on foot and take the Gospel to many. At the end of my travel, I found that God took me to ten house fellowship, [I] spoke with more than 100 people, and today 99% [are] committed to the Lord. Three local leaders were trained to care [for] the flock and more than 10 people who never got the Gospel decided to be [in] God’s family. Praise God! Our Scripture mentioned above is true and God is doing [that] even today. Hallelujah! www.WIN1040.com

It is all because of your prayers and gifts. Romans says doer and giver share equal blessings therefore you are equally blessed. As soon as New Year is over again your son will be in the field in another part of my country. Let’s all do something to enhance His coming faster so that we will be with our Maker and Savior forever. God bless you for all your concern, prayers and help.

SUDAN The birth

A

fter nearly half a century of civil war and the loss of millions of lives to starvation and violence, the largest country in Africa may soon split into two separate nations.

separate from the North, it will indeed be independent, yet without the infrastructure necessary to survive. Schools and health care are two of the many issues that have yet to be addressed. There is also an ongoing controversy regarding control of the oil-rich Abyei region along what will be the border between the two nations.

The referendum vote held in January 2011 allowed the citizens of South Sudan (mostly Christian) to decide whether or not to remain part of North Sudan (mostly Muslim). The votes were tallied in February, but even with the majority choosing independence, the future of Sudan – both North and South – is filled with uncertainty.

This is a volatile but exciting time for Sudan. The North has the opportunity to participate in the birth of a new nation and watch as God strengthens and guides it. Or they can attempt to control and manipulate South Sudan, possibly even declaring war again.

of a nation?

Sudan became a nation in 1956 after gaining independence from Egypt and Britain. What followed was the First Sudanese Civil War (1955 to 1972), a conflict pitting North Sudan against South Sudan. In 1983, the Second Sudanese Civil War broke out. During this struggle, Colonel Omar al-Bashir led a coup and took control, assuming the presidency. Approximately 2 million people were killed in this war. A peace agreement was finally reached in 2005. It made South Sudan an autonomous region for six years, to be followed by a referendum vote on independence. While the people of South Sudan voted overwhelmingly to secede from North Sudan, much remains unresolved. If the South does 14 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

P O I N T S March 2011

Day 1 INDIA, SOUTH ASIA

Discrimination against Christians continues in Orissa. In December 2010, Hindu extremists prevented a family from cremating the body of a Christian man and chased them out of their village. “News of the incident has raised concerns among Christians in Kandhama District,” says Spero News, “the same who suffered during the 2008 anti-Christian program that left hundreds dead.” Christians in Orissa say the attacks on their faith are not only dangerous and stressful, but are keeping some interested Hindus from converting. Pray for the Lord to glorify His Son, Jesus Christ in Orissa, and throughout India. Petition Him to protect His people and give them courage to stand against the schemes of the enemy. Ask for the salvation of the most radical Hindus and that this would be a testimony to the Lord’s great power and love. Pray for multitudes of people in India to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

MAURITANIA, NORTH AFRICA

According to recently leaked security reports, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) is “gaining a foothold in the Sahel, a lawless region in the Sahara desert.” Trying to defend against 16 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

AQIM and stop their growth is a top priority for the government of Mauritania. “This al-Qaida affiliate and kidnapping activity is very worrisome,” an international observer said, “because it has turned into a significant revenue stream, and millions and millions of dollars have been paid in ransoms. …This results in the group being able to keep operating, continue the kidnapping and possibly even move money to either other parts of [AQIM] or to other parts of the alQaida network.” Pray for an end to this cycle of terrorism, violence, and extortion. Ask the Lord to intervene, giving the Mauritanian government wisdom and new ideas to fight this threat. Plead for the salvation of AQIM members. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in their hearts and draw them into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Petition the Lord to stop the flow and growth of Islamic extremism and keep the people of Mauritania safe. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Mauritania.

Day 2 SUDAN, NORTH AFRICA

The referendum vote in South Sudan resulted in the birth of a new nation. South Sudan has chosen to become independent. But political independence will only come if the North allows it. And if it is www.WIN1040.com

achieved, South Sudan must still deal with the daunting challenge of building schools and medical facilities to support their people. Pray for the Lord to guide leaders in North and South Sudan, giving them wisdom and discernment in moving forward. Ask Him to prevent a civil war and bring an equitable solution in dividing this nation. Pray for Christians to be strong and courageous, not fearing the threats and taunts of extremists Muslims. Pray for the Lord to provide the resources needed to construct schools and offer medical care. Invite the Kingdom of God to come in glory in Sudan, as it is in heaven.

AFGHANISTAN, SOUTH ASIA

“Resolving the problem of terrorism in Afghanistan is impossible without dealing with the issue of drug production in the country,” a Russian official recently stated. “Drug production in Afghanistan causes the spread of terrorism….” Afghanistan is the leading producer of opium in the world and it is believed to be a principle source of funding for al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. Pray for the Lord to bring an immediate halt to the drug industry in Afghanistan. Pray for the crops to fail and for drug production and smuggling networks to be discovered and destroyed. Ask for the salvation of the people of Afghanistan – common citizens, leaders in government,

members of terrorist groups…. Pray for the Gospel to be preached and demonstrated throughout this nation and for a great harvest of souls.

Day 3

Day 4 KUWAIT, ARABIAN PENINSULA

With riots erupting in Egypt and protests taking place in Lebanon, the nation of Kuwait finds itself in a precarious position. The entire Middle East is being shaken. Pray for this time of instability to be a catalyst in Kuwait, causing citizens to consider death, God, sin, and other matters of eternal consequence. Ask the Lord to move throughout this region, maintaining peace but bringing change to hearts and minds. Pray for a great harvest of souls in Kuwait as Muslims put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Petition the Lord to establish His Kingdom in Kuwait as it is in heaven.

BANGLADESH, SOUTH ASIA

The United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), a radical political group, threatened Christians in multiple churches in December 2010 and kept them from celebrating Christmas. Members of the UPDF told Christians they couldn’t play instruments or even worship silently. Their goal is for Christians to return or convert to Buddhism. Pray for the evil stronghold of Buddhism to be torn down in Bangladesh and throughout South Asia. Ask the Lord to open the eyes of those blinded by this false religion to see the Light of Christ. Pray for those Christians who are facing persecution to be comforted and strengthened, and to respond to their enemies in March 2011

love. Petition the Lord for many in Bangladesh to turn from their sins and seek Him. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to this nation.

JAPAN, EAST ASIA

The government of Japan issued a new defense policy in December 2010. The National Defense Program Guidelines took into account the rise of China’s military power, North Korea’s threats of using nuclear weapons, and global terrorism. The new policy is expected to improve the nation’s ability to respond to security challenges. Thank the Lord for this effort to protect the citizens of Japan and pray for its success. Ask for the Holy Spirit to be poured out on this nation and for people to look to the Lord for their security. Pray for a great spiritual awakening in Japan. Plead with the Lord for a tremendous harvest of souls.

GUINEA-BISSAU, WEST AFRICA

The nation of Guinea-Bissau is now considered a key nation in a huge drug smuggling operation that is helping fund al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups. Drugs flown in from South America (especially cocaine) are moved through Guinea-Bissau into Europe. Pray for this gateway to be shut and for Guinea-Bissau to be set free from the violence and destruction of terrorism. Pray for the government to act decisively to stop the flow of drugs and money. Ask the Lord to make the Gospel known throughout Guinea-Bissau and for multitudes to respond, putting their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Day 5 BHUTAN, SOUTH ASIA

It will soon be illegal to proselytize in the Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan. An “anti-conversion” law has been endorsed by the legislature and will penalize violators with fiveyear prison terms. Pray for the people of Bhutan to be set free from the lies and bondage of Buddhism. Plead for their salvation. Intercede on their behalf, asking the Lord to demonstrate His love to them and draw them into relationship with His only Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Bhutan with great power, bringing forth a tremendous harvest of souls.

SAUDI ARABIA, ARABIAN PENINSULA

Members of the Iraqi National Coalition have accused Saudi Arabia of financing and supporting terrorists operating in their nation. “Some religious authorities in Saudi Arabia,” the coalition added, “issued a fatwa that permits killing the Shia people, who make up the majority of the Iraqi population.” The statement also charged Saudi Arabia with trying to overthrow the Iraqi government. Pray for Saudi Arabia to stop supporting and funding terrorists. Ask the Lord to expose those in the government who are engaged in these activities. Pray for this Islamic stronghold to be penetrated with the Light of the Gospel of Christ. Plead for the salvation of the Muslims in Saudi Arabia. Invite the Kingdom of God to come in great power, with signs, wonders, dreams and visions. The 10/40 Window Reporter | 17

Day 6 GUINEA, WEST AFRICA

Guinea and other nations of West Africa are quickly becoming “user” nations, according to a recent news report. Latin American cartels are using them as a “corridor” to transport drugs into Europe – and many of the citizens are getting addicted. Is it possible to hold a mini-Global Day of Prayer every day of the year? Dr. Victor Choudhrie, a church planting leader in India, thinks so. Which is why he has issued a summons to the Body of Christ to pray in harmony each morning and has even provided an outline to help make it happen. 3@6 invites Believers the world over to spend 3 minutes praying for global evangelism at 6 a.m. every morning. Choudhrie’s suggestions for utilizing this time include the following:

1st minute Pray for the harvest. Ask the Lord to reach the unreached, seek and save the

lost, and for the Gospel to be preached in every nation, among every tribe, tongue, and people. Pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send workers into His harvest field.

2nd minute Pray for the fields. Ask the Lord to open doors to closed nations, open hearts

and minds, and remove the veil from the eyes of those in bondage to Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and ethnic religions. Pray for tentmakers, undercover missionaries, and members of the underground Church to be protected and encouraged, to have opportunities to share the Good News, and for their efforts to bring forth abundant fruit.

3rd minute Listen. Ask the Lord to reveal His strategies and plans to pray for and evangelize the

10/40 Window. Allow Him to place a specific nation or people group on your heart. Ask Him to show you how to intercede on their behalf and to help you adopt a “watch and pray” attitude that will keep you open to His guidance throughout the day.

It’s an incredibly simple, yet potentially powerful way to finish the task (The Bible, Matthew 24:14; 28:18-20; Revelation 5:9). The question is: Can we spare 180 seconds of our day to see God’s most passionate desire fulfilled?

Pray for Christian Believers to be strengthened and encouraged. Pray for them to choose to trust the Lord rather than be fearful. Ask Him to surround them with His mighty warring angels. Intercede on behalf of Pakistan, inviting God’s Kingdom to come in this nation.

Day 29 NIGERIA, WEST AFRICA

Christmas Eve 2010 and another 18 died in January 2011. Pray for peace between Christians and Muslims and an end to the killing. Petition the Lord to soften and capture the hearts of radical Muslims – such as members of Boko Haram (a militant Islamic group operating in Nigeria). Pray for Him to enable Christians to love their enemies and pray for those who mistreat them. Ask for a great harvest of souls throughout North and South Nigeria.

MALDIVES, SOUTH ASIA

The coastguard of the Maldives recently teamed up with the Sri Lankan navy in an attempt to “eradicate piracy, drug trafficking and human smuggling.” They will also partner to fight the war on terrorism. Cooperation between these two island nations is considered essential in keeping their borders safe. Thank the Lord for the growing international sense of urgency and importance regarding these issues – and for the realization that unity is a key in defeating terrorism. Pray for these efforts to be effective. Ask the Lord to give the government of the Maldives wisdom and new strategies for protecting their people. Plead for the hearts of the Maldivians. Petition the Lord to tear down the strongholds of Islam in this nation and lead multitudes into relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.

JORDAN, MIDDLE EAST

Jordan joined other Middle Eastern nations in condemning the New Year’s Day bombing in Egypt that killed at least 21 people. King Abdullah “underlined Jordan’s commitment to supporting March 2011

Egyptians in combating all forms of terrorism and those that stand behind it.” Not many days later, Abdullah was forced to “dismiss” the government after street protests in Egypt spawned similar protests in Jordan. Pray for Abdullah’s promise to fight terrorism to be kept. Ask the Lord to continue moving the hearts of leaders in the Middle East, encouraging them to stand against extremism. Pray for the salvation of King Abdullah. Petition the Lord to pour His Holy spirit out on Jordan, restoring peace and setting free all those held captive by Islam. Pray for many to be led into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to Jordan as it is in heaven.

SENEGAL, WEST AFRICA

Two hundred former soldiers marched for peace in the Casamance region of Senegal in January 2010. Casamance has been “plagued by a separatist rebellion for three decades.” Pray for the government to take the separatist violence and the protest march seriously. Ask the Lord to give them direction in facing this issue. Pray for the salvation of key members of the Senegalese government. Petition the Lord to begin a great spiritual awakening in this nation that will sweep through West and North Africa. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come and for the Lord Jesus Christ to rule and reign in this region.

Day 30 ERITREA, EAST AFRICA

President Isias Afwerki’s

administration has been accused of supporting the Tamil Tigers – a rebel group in Sri Lanka. Because of this, Eritrea may be added to the international list of nations that sponsor terrorism. Pray for Afwerki’s regime to renounce all involvement with terrorist groups. Intercede on behalf of Christians who are being badly mistreated in Eritrea – arrested, detained, imprisoned, tortured and killed. Ask the Lord to comfort and strengthen them, giving them hope and joy in the midst of hardship. Petition the Lord to enable them to love their enemies and display the love of God in their words and actions. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in this nation, turning the hearts of Muslims away from the lies of the enemy and toward the Truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for a great harvest of souls in Eritrea.

TIBET, SOUTH ASIA

Human rights groups say Tibet is still being punished by the government of China for the uprising that took place in 2008. China is accused of violating civil rights by trying to extinguish the Tibetan language, committing civil liberty infringements, imposing religious restrictions, and engaging in cultural discrimination. In 2010 there were 831 known political prisoners in Tibet. Pray for the leaders of China to repent of their sins against the people of Tibet and give them the autonomy they are seeking. Ask the Lord to share His wisdom with Tibetan leaders. Pray for an end to the political and cultural conflict. Plead for the salvation of the Tibetan leaders (especially the Dali Lama as he prepares to step down from political power) and people. Pray The 10/40 Window Reporter | 29

for the Light of Christ to shine into this nation. Petition the Lord to spread the Gospel throughout Tibet and bring forth a great harvest of souls.

SYRIA, MIDDLE EAST

One news source recently described Syria as “a veritable way station for the region’s garden variety terrorists, including the missilebrokering thugs of Hezbollah.” State sponsorship of terrorism, the article said, is “second nature” to Syria. Pray for an immediate end to this long-standing support of evil. Ask the Lord to speak to the hearts of the leaders of Syria and turn them from thoughts of destruction, to a vision for peace and security in the Middle East. Pray for their salvation. Ask for the Gospel to be preached throughout Syria and for the people – even members of terrorist groups – to put their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

MONGOLIA, NORTH ASIA

Mongolia is expected to have one of the fastest growing economies in the world in the next five years. It has also been one of the most productive harvest fields in the 10/40 Window. In 1990 there were only 500 known Christian Believers. In 2010 there were an estimated 40,000. Give thanks to the Lord for what He is doing in this nation. Pray for His favor to rest on Mongolia and for an even greater awakening. Ask the Lord to open the eyes of the spiritually blind and lead them to the Light of Jesus Christ. Pray for multitudes to put their faith in Him as Savior and Lord. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Mongolia. 30 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

GAZA STRIP, MIDDLE EAST

Day 31 EAST TIMOR, SOUTHEAST ASIA

“People smuggling” is a major problem in East Timor. Even the trafficking of children, reports say, is increasingly common. Pray for an immediate end to this destructive and illegal practice. Ask the Lord to expose all those involved in human trafficking. Pray for the government of East Timor to take this problem seriously and act decisively to capture and prosecute those involved in it. Pray for the safety and freedom of slaves – especially children. Ask the Lord to be present with them, comforting them and protecting them. Pray for Him to heal their minds, hearts, and emotions. Petition the Lord to give Christian Believers opportunities to share the Gospel with slave masters and slaves, as well as be instrumental in bringing justice to these situations. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to East Timor and all of Southeast Asia.

THE GAMBIA, WEST AFRICA

The Gambia is investing resources in its navy in order to bolster national security. “Whether we are delivering humanitarian assistance… fighting terrorism, or conducting search and rescue at sea,” an official said, “we can only overcome the challenges of our times by coming together.” Pray for the Lord to bless these efforts and help protect the people of the Gambia from terrorism and other threats. Ask Him to pour out His Holy Spirit in this small but strategically located nation. Petition Him to make the Gospel known throughout the Gambia. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come in power. www.WIN1040.com

According to one news source, “In the past nine years, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza have launched more than 11,000 rockets and mortars at towns in southern Israel. The root of the problem lies in the weaponry, money and personnel that are constantly being smuggled into the Gaza Strip through tunnels that have been burrowed underneath the border separating Gaza from the Sinai Peninsula. The Gaza Strip has been ruled by the Iranian-backed Hamas since its coup detat against Fatah in 2007.” Pray for an end to the rule of terrorists in the Gaza Strip. Ask the Lord to protect the people from the violent, evil actions and policies of Hamas. Pray for Him to provide food, shelter, clean water, education, medical care… for those who are still struggling to survive after Israeli attacks. Ask the Lord to establish peace in this region. Pray for the Gospel to be preached to every man, woman and child in the Gaza Strip and for many to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

WEST BANK, MIDDLE EAST

A senior Hamas leader was arrested in the West Bank in January 2011 because of his suspected involvement in terrorism. Praise the Lord for this and pray for more members of Hamas to be found and arrested. Pray for the West Bank government to refuse to support or harbor terrorists. Ask the Lord to lead members of Hamas into relationship with Jesus Christ. Pray for the Gospel to be preached throughout this region and for Muslims to be set free from the lies

Window International Network Ask the Lord to provide the staff of Window International Network with new and inventive strategies for reaching the people of the 10/40 Window with the Gospel. Pray for them to be empowered by the Spirit to carry out all that God has in His heart. Pray for the Lord to impart to them His vision for these nations and peoples. Ask for their eyes and ears to be open to the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit. Pray for their protection from schemes of the enemy intended to disrupt, delay, distract and discourage. Pray for unity among team members, humility, and a willingness to serve. You’ve probably heard the phrase – Human Trafficking. But what does it mean? Below are a few working definitions to help us as we focus prayer on this demonicallyinspired, global epidemic. Human Trafficking – illegally trading, selling, or moving human beings for commercial purposes such as sexual exploitation and forced labor. A form of modern-day slavery. The United Nations defines human trafficking as “the transport of persons, by means of coercion, deception, or consent for the purpose of exploitation such as forced or consensual labor or prostitution.”

The human part of the equation is simple enough to understand. It often means women and children. Trafficking, according to the United Nations includes “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of the position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments and benefits.” Exploitation is “the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery… servitude….” Sourced: United Nations, “Operation World” (Jason Mandryk, 2010), humantrafficking.org, “NOT For Sale” (David Batstone, 2007)

Human trafficking is now the main activity of traffickers, replacing drugs and firearms, and is one of the great blights of our time. —Jason Mandryk

27 million – the estimated number of people enslaved around the world $32 billion – the profit generated by global human trafficking each year #2 – the rank of human trafficking in terms of profits among criminal industries (following drugs) #1 – the rank of human trafficking among growing criminal industries 50% – the percentage of children among those trafficked 80% – the percentage of women and girls among those trafficked 70% – the percentage of women trafficked for sexual exploitation 1.2 million – the number of children in the worldwide sex industry 600,000 to 800,000 – the number of people trafficked across international borders each year 75% – the number of internationally trafficked people used for the sex trade

the victims of these crimes (mostly women and children) to be set free. Pray for their physical, emotional, economic, and spiritual healing. Ask the Lord to be their refuge and fortress. (The Bible, Isaiah 61:1,2; Psalm 91:2) governments to take action against human trafficking. Invite the Lord to orchestrate cooperation between countries to help stop this illegal, abusive and destructive industry. (The Bible, Proverbs 3:13; Psalm 33:5) the salvation of those who are committing these atrocities. Pray for the Holy Spirit to convict them of their sin and lead them into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, I Thessalonians 1:5) Christian humanitarian agencies and ministries to have the opportunity to rescue men, women, and children from human trafficking and modernday slavery. Pray for the Lord to provide them with resources and wisdom in confronting this problem. (The Bible, Psalm 31:2; Psalm 65:9) the Church to take a stand against human trafficking. Petition the Lord to give Christians His heart for the oppressed and a passion to demonstrate His love to them. (The Bible, Psalm 82:3; 9:9) even this horrible situation to be used to bring God glory. Pray for the Name of Jesus to be lifted high above the sinful acts of mankind. { Some call it a “trade.” Others refer to it is an “industry.” Whatever the term used to describe human trafficking, it is flourishing in Thailand. “People are bought and sold – children too. It’s a terrible situation,” one Thai woman told WorldNetDaily. “It seems at times as though there isn’t a single decent man left in the world. I thought men were supposed to protect women and children, not exploit them.”

neighbors like Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. Many victims are teenage girls who end up in prostitution.” “Transit” involves the transportation of human beings. “A number of women and girls from Burma, Cambodia, and Vietnam transit through Thailand’s southern border to Malaysia for sexual exploitation….”

According to agencies involved in tracking human trafficking, Thailand is considered a source, transit, and destination country.

A “destination” country receives people trafficked from other parts of the world. Thailand is a destination country for people from Burma, Cambodia, Laos, the People’s Republic of China, Russia, and Uzbekistan.

Being a “source” means people from Thailand (especially women and girls) are bribed, tricked, or forcibly recruited to go to other nations. “Major trafficking routes run between Thailand and

In 1997, the government of Thailand passed the Prevention and Suppression of Trafficking in Women and Children Act, making it illegal to traffic for sexual exploitation. Despite

the threat of prosecution and long prison sentences, the practice of human trafficking is rampant – and quite profitable – in Thailand. It is known as a “Disneyland for Pedophiles,” with as many as 400,000 prostitutes under the age of 19. One of the many destructive effects of sexual exploitation in Thailand is the spread and prevalence of AIDS. According to the United Nations, “Trafficking… contributes to the spread of HIV by significantly increasing the vulnerability of trafficked persons to infection. Both human trafficking and HIV greatly threaten human development and security.” Among the root causes for this problem in Thailand and throughout the world are lust, greed, and poverty. The demand for sexual slaves is driven by

the Lord to bring conviction to the hearts of all who are abusing men, women and children for the purpose of financial gain. Pray for them to repent and surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. (The Bible, Romans 2:4; Acts 3:19)

mankind’s fallen nature and unbridled desires for sensual pleasure. Supplying this demand is quite profitable. To do so, human traffickers take advantage of the underprivileged and impoverished. Parents sometimes sell their daughters – and even their sons – into prostitution for financial gain. Girls and women are lured by promises of work and then forced into slavery. Not all human trafficking in Thailand is for sexual purposes. “Children are trafficked for… forced labor in begging, fishing, and fish processing. Sometimes entire families [are] trafficked for forced labor in sweatshops.” Part of the answer to this social epidemic is aggressive political

and judicial action by the government. But Paul reminds us that the battle isn’t against flesh and blood. It is against principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this age, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places (The Bible, Ephesians 6:12). Bringing an end to human trafficking in Thailand will require intense, ongoing prayer, and the spread of the Gospel. Only as the Kingdom of God comes in power, transforming hearts and lives, will the victims and perpetrators be set free from this demonic activity. the victims who are suffering, trapped, and hopeless. Pray for the Lord to deliver them from this oppression. (The Bible, Psalm 69:33; Isaiah 42:6,7) the people (mostly men) who are satisfying their own lusts at the expense of the physical, emotional and spiritual health of others (mostly women and children). Pray for them to turn from their sin and seek forgiveness in Christ. (The Bible, Isaiah 45:22) the government of Thailand to continue to take serious steps in shutting down this destructive industry. (The Bible, Proverbs 21:15) the Gospel to be preached and demonstrated in Thailand, setting free all who are in bondage to human trafficking, as well as false religions. (The Bible, Isaiah 61:1,2) this nation to no longer be a “Disneyland for Pedophiles,” but a place where the Kingdom of God is present in power. Ask the Lord to pour His Holy Spirit out on Thailand and bring transformation. (The Bible, I Corinthians 4:20; Acts 2:17) a great harvest of souls – snatching from the fire those who have been ensnared by and blinded by the enemy. (The Bible, James 1:22,23)

PRAYER JOURNEY POWER!!!

+

PRAYER a solemn request addressed to God JOURNEY the act of traveling from one place to another Why can’t we pray for the 10/40 Window from our homes? Do we really need to go “over there” to pray? Doesn’t God hear and respond to our prayers no matter where we are? Does being “on-site” in a 10/40 Window nation make a difference?

Let’s take those questions in order. Yes, we can and should pray for the 10/40 Window from our homes. No, we don’t have to be “over there” in order to pray for the people living in that region of the world. Yes, God does promise to hear and answer our prayers no matter our location. As for being on-site making a difference… Yes! It makes a huge difference! Think of it like this: While you are at work, you learn that your child is sick. You could check on them and comfort them via telephone. If you had the chance, though, you’d go home and be with them – praying for them, caring for them, meeting their needs. Being with them would 38 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

change things too. Instead of just hearing about their ailment, you could look them in the eye and know, as only a parent knows, how serious the illness was and what action to take. Going into the 10/40 Window on a prayer journey has the same effect. It will not only change the spiritual atmosphere of the nation(s) you visit, but will undoubtedly change you. God will use it to give you unique insights into the residents and their needs, as well as teach you more about Himself as you step outside your comfort zone. You’ll see, hear, taste and feel the culture, and have the opportunity to look into the eyes of the people www.WIN1040.com

you’re interceding for. As you do, the Lord will share His heart with you, providing greater compassion, understanding and discernment. He might even call you to be a missionary to that nation. Or have you rally Christians back home to adopt, pray for and minister to that particular people group. “Praying on-site with insight.” That’s what someone once said about prayer journeys. Those who’ve been on them testify to their power and effectiveness in breaking down enemy strongholds and barriers, and in bringing forth the harvest among the lost and unevangelized.

Below are a few of the comments made by individuals who have ventured forth on prayer journeys in the 10/40 Window: “Apart from the great privilege of being there to pray, the other outstanding impression was the great pain in that country.”

“We arrived shortly after a national strike was declared against the government by its opposition to purposefully try to paralyze a nation in crisis. Ultimately, the strike worked to our advantage because we were pedaled around the city streets in rickshaws. This gave us a more effective way of praying throughout the city.”

“Our prayer team was able to minister to several missionaries…. One missionary who has been praying specifically for people to come and minister to the children was greatly encouraged….”

“Row upon row of little fetish houses greeted us as we prayerwalked throughout the… village. [They] use witchcraft against those who have converted to Christ but they are not able to stop the growth of Christianity.”

“Because we were able to meet with Christians, we could see the growth in them personally and in the Body of Believers since our [last] visit. This time people were more receptive to the Gospel.” Are you ready to add a journey to your prayer and see God move in power? YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITHYOU “You can’t take it with you… but you can send it on ahead!” Those who have repented of their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord know where they’re headed when they die. Praise God for the salvation He has provided for us in the death, resurrection, and ascension of His only Son! But that doesn’t change the fact that you can’t take anything with you to heaven. All earthly treasures will have to stay here when you depart to be with the Lord.

Good news, though:

you can send treasure on ahead! When we pray, serve God, and give our finances to advance His Kingdom, we are adding to our heavenly treasure. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,” Jesus said, “where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matthew 6:l9,20). It’s like a savings account. We make deposits by being obedient to God in fulfilling the Great Commission and by generously investing in His work. So the next time you’re faced with a decision regarding how to spend your time, energy, or money, consider this: earthly things get left behind; Kingdom things get forwarded to heaven.

How is your eternal account looking? For an opportunity to “send it on ahead,” advance the Kingdom and, most importantly, honor God with your finances, go to www.WIN1040.com/donate and make a contribution to Window International Network. It’s guaranteed to be waiting for you – with untold dividends! – when you reach heaven.

China Hymie: Hello, Friends! Last

month, Tai-Yu was telling us about one of China’s most popular holidays, the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival. This month, Tai-Yu is going to tell us what it is like to be a Christian in China. Tai-Yu: Ni Hao, WindowKids! I am so

honored to tell you more about my country and share stories about our brothers and sisters in the Christian Church. Friends, China is a communist country. That means the government has almost complete control over the people. The government tells them where to go to school and what they must learn. They tell them what they can be when they grow up and what they

can’t be. The government even makes decisions about what churches people can attend. It is very difficult to introduce new ideas to China’s political leaders. The Chinese government only allows Christians to meet together in public buildings if they register. The government wants to know who is meeting and what is being preached. In order for Chinese Christians to worship freely – without being watched and monitored – they are often forced to meet “underground.” That means they meet secretly in houses without registering with the government. Underground house churches are against the law in China. If the government suspects someone is a member of the Underground Church, they can be taken away from their family and thrown into prison. Another punishment the government enforces is the Black List. The Black List is a list of people the government considers “Enemies of the State.” If your name is found on this list, you can be turned down for a job, turned away from school, and sometimes even refused medical care.

Hymie: WindowKids, it is very

WindowKids, it may seem impossible to worship God and share the Gospel of Christ in China. It certainly is dangerous, but not impossible. Our God is more powerful than any government! As Christians in China meet secretly and pray for their neighbors, family members, and friends, thousands are putting their faith in Jesus Christ each day! Some believe there are over 120 million Christians in China now. That means there are more than 120 million people praying for their country and spreading the love of Jesus Christ. Can you imagine over 120 million people willing to lose everything for the sake of Jesus Christ?!

important that we pray for the people of China. China is one of the fastest growing Christian populations in the entire world. We need to keep praying for our Brothers and Sisters to stand firm as they face persecution, and for many more men, women and children to come to know Jesus. Pray for their safety. And let’s pray for the Lord to do a miracle in China, transforming the government and making it possible for Christians to worship freely. Isaiah 61 is packed full with promises for believers! Read the first three verses of this chapter below, and then try to find the UNDERLINED words in the puzzle above. Have fun with this word search, and remember that God will protect His precious Chinese children. The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has ANOINTED me to proclaim GOOD NEWS to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the BROKENHEARTED, to proclaim FREEDOM for the captives and RELEASE from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s FAVOR and the day of vengeance of our God, to COMFORT all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a CROWN OF BEAUTY instead of ashes, the OIL OF JOY instead of mourning, and a GARMENT OF PRAISE instead of a spirit of despair.
