Praise Report

“ We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.”–The Bible, Psalm 75:1 Egypt Several reports have described

Christians and Muslims working together to guard their neighborhoods during the protests and violence in Egypt. One noted that despite the many hazards – gun-battles, curfews, cash and food shortages – there were “also answered prayers, a complete breakthrough from fear in the country, incredible deepening of relationships with friends, serving in the community, sharing the gospel, and more.” A picture posted on Twitter even showed Christians linking hands to protect Muslims as they bowed in prayer. “This was remarkable,” says SAT- 7. “Christians are a clear minority, and often persecuted. …This image shows love as they protect their fellow Egyptians.” Christian Aid also noted that “the events that have happened have created good links between Christians and Muslims. This enabled [Christians] to share the good news of Christ’s message.” Praise the Lord for working powerfully in what are sometimes dangerous and confusing situations. Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue moving in Egypt. Ask the Lord to give Christians boldness and opportunities to share the Gospel.

for providing Dr. Zacharias with this unique opportunity. Pray for these teachings to be used by the Holy Spirit to reach many Turks.

sentenced to one year in prison for “creating chaos at a religious gathering” was exonerated in March. “Some fundamentalist Muslims became very angry with him for selling the Christians books near a Muslim gathering,” his attorney said, “so they harassed him by handing over to the mobile court.” Praise the Lord for this man’s release. Ask Him to use this evangelist to spread the Gospel in Bangladesh. Pray for the tearing down of the strongholds of Islam and for a great harvest of souls in this nation

The Lord’s name is very near, as the following praise reports testify.

Zacharias recently spoke in Istanbul, Ankara and Ismir, Turkey on topics that included: “Can Man Live Without God?”, “Do All Religions Lead to God?” and “If God is Good, then Why is There Evil?” Give thanks to the Lord

Ministries, tens of thousands of Christians in India, China, and many other nations are praying for Iran. Using a 30-day prayer guide, they are interceding for the suffering church in Iran and for the Lord to open up new ways to reach the people of Iran with the Gospel. “Operation World” notes that the fastest growing evangelical population in the world is in Iran. Praise the Lord for what He is doing in this nation. Pray for Christians in Iran as they face intense persecution. Pray for the Church to grow and for the Gospel to spread throughout this region. re they a religious group, a political party, or a terrorist organization? Are their goals peaceful or are they part of the global Islamic jihad? “Despite some skeptics,” writes Jennifer LeClare, “many Islam watchers report that the Muslim Brotherhood is an extremist group – and no friend of Israel.” The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928 by a 22-year-old teacher named Hasan al-Banna. Al-Banna started the organization in an attempt to revive Islam after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Seeing the need to unite Muslims and believing Islam to be a way of life rather than just a religion, he established the Muslim Brotherhood. “The Brotherhood grew as a popular movement over the next 20 years,” explains the Intelligence Resource Program, “encompassing not only religion and education, but also politics. It blamed the Egyptian government for being passive against ‘Zionists’ and joined the Palestinian side in the war against Israel; and started performing terrorist acts inside Egypt, which led to a ban on the movement by the Egyptian government.” The Muslim Brotherhood was responsible for killing the prime minister of Egypt, Mahud Fahmi Nokrashi, in 1948 and also attempted to murder President Nasser in 1954. Nasser’s successor, President Anwar Sadat, “promised the Brothers that shari’a would be implemented as the Egyptian law and released all Brotherhood prisoners.” However, Sadat was assassinated by the Muslim Brotherhood after he signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979. May 2011

Today, there are more than seventy branches of the Muslim Brotherhood. They have an intricate financial network that is believed to provide funding for a number of terrorist groups, including Hamas (Gaza), the mujahideen (Afghanistan), and al-Jihad (Egypt). Following the collapse of Egypt’s government in 2011, Sheik Yusuf al-Qaraawi (a prominent Muslim Brotherhood leader known as the Theologian of Terror) returned from exile and gave a speech to the huge crowd in Tahrir Square, “calling for war against Israel and a takeover of Jerusalem.” The Muslim Brotherhood also quickly formed a political party for the first time in its existence. They are now preparing to take control of that nation without having to use force. “…Rather than all out hijacking the revolution in Egypt as many expected,” writes LeClaire, “the Muslim Brotherhood has essentially walked through the open door of political upheaval.”

the South would remain part of the North or become independent, the Muslim Brotherhood issued threats of violence. In a statement posted on the internet, they warned that if the South chose to separate from the North it would constitute a crime and punishment would be delivered. They argued that all of Sudan belonged to Islam and that it was the gate for this false religion to “spread to the rest of Africa.” Whether the international community designates the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group or not, it is clear that this organization’s agenda is violent, involves the control of multiple nations, and includes the destruction of Israel. “The Muslim Brotherhood is starting to show its true colors. They have shown their sharp teeth,” explains pastor Shaddy Soliman. “The maneuvers of the Muslim Brotherhood should be a key area of prayer.”

As Sudan approached the referendum vote to decide whether

Pray that the trouble they are planning will return upon their own heads. (The Bible, Mark 4:22; Psalm 7:16) their efforts to promote extremist Islam and the global jihad to be ineffective. Pray for their members to be scattered. (The Bible, Psalm 68:1)

the Lord to reveal the true agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood. (The Bible, Psalm 92:9) the salvation of key members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Pray for them to have a powerful encounter with the Living Christ and put their faith in Him as Savior and Lord. FROM THE

FIELD What impact do your prayers and donations have on the 10/40 Window? The following account from one of our many contacts inside this region provides a powerful glimpse.

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” (The Bible, Isaiah 61:1)

I arrived just last night from another remote trip. …Our Lord is really preparing His Bride to take them home. God in a miraculous way united seven local groups which were disunited because of wrong beliefs and understanding. Although it is twelve hours by road then twelve hours by foot… we managed to reach there by His strength alone. …

Seven or eight families were suffering from throat problem, unable to eat and drink…. Holy Spirit immediately reminded me it is curse from the demons. We let all the people gather together and started praying and rebuking the demons along with the Gospel message. From His Word we started looking into the authority we have in Him over evil forces.

…Next day we along with some congregation members went up in the mountain where we can see the valley. We read from the Scriptures and started redeeming the land in Yeshua’s name. In the afternoon, we visited those that were sick and called them together for prayers at the house gathering. To God be the glory and honor all these sick who attended that evening meeting got healed.

PULLING DOWN STRONGHOLDS

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds….” (The Bible, II Corinthians 10:4)

Every year millions of Muslims visit the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia as part of the hajj. This is more than a pilgrimage to a holy site. It is one of the “pillars” of the Islamic religion. According to the Hadith (Islamic holy book), the hajj originated long before Muhammad, in the time of Abraham. Every year, various tribes would journey to Mecca to visit the Kaaba, a black cube filled with pagan idols which the Qur’an says was constructed by Abraham and Ishmael. In 631, Muhammad took his followers to Mecca, where he cleansed the Kaaba. The hajj (literally “to set out of a place,” in this case Mecca) then became one of the five pillars of the Islamic faith. If at all possible, a Muslim must visit Mecca at some time during his or her life.

In 2010, an estimated three million Muslims made the hajj. After participating in this event, men take on the title, Hajji. The hajj is yet another reason Saudi Arabia is considered the capital of the Islamic world. Muhammad not only founded Islam in this nation but made it an obligation for all Muslims to come here to perform this ceremony. Sources: Islamicity.com, Wikipedia

Day 1 INDIA, SOUTH ASIA

The chairman of the All India AntiTerrorist Front recently called for the political parties in India to cooperate in eradicating terrorism in that nation. The government is also working with Bangladesh to eliminate cross-border terrorism between the two countries. Praise the Lord for these efforts and pray for them to be successful in stopping extremists groups operating in this region. Pray for the salvation of key leaders in these organizations. Ask the Lord to continue pouring His Holy Spirit out on India. Pray for Christians to be bold in sharing the Gospel. Petition the Lord for an even greater harvest of souls in this nation. (The Bible, Ephesians 6:19)

MAURITANIA, NORTH AFRICA

In February 2011, members of terrorist group al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) were killed as they attempted to enter the capital city of Nouakchott. They set off a truck loaded with explosives, injuring 13 soldiers. Just days later, two AQIM members were confronted by Mauritanian military troops near the border with Senegal. As they attempted to take the men into custody, one of them set off a bomb. “No one questions that [AQIM] poses a threat,” one journalist 14 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

recently noted, “and that the fight against it must be led by the countries in which it operates.” Pray for Mauritania and other nations in North Africa to take this threat seriously. Ask the Lord to guide them in seeking out and defeating AQIM. Pray for AQIM funding to be cut off and for recruiting efforts to fail. Petition the Lord to move powerfully in Mauritania, making the Gospel known and drawing many into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Mark 4:22)

Day 2 SUDAN, NORTH AFRICA

Although the referendum vote has made it possible for South Sudan to secede from the North, there are many issues that still need to be addressed – such as adequate water, education, and medical care. Pray for the Lord to supply the needs of the people of South Sudan. Ask Him to protect Christians during this time of transition, unite them in prayer, and grow the Church in Sudan. Invite the Prince of Peace to rule and reign in Sudan as North and South prepare to separate. Pray for the hearts of Muslims to be softened and for them to hear and respond to the Gospel. Ask the Lord for a great harvest of souls in Sudan as His Kingdom comes to this nation. (The Bible, Matthew 13:23) www.WIN1040.com

AFGHANISTAN, SOUTH ASIA

With South Sudan scheduled to secede from North Sudan in July 2011, conflict between the two nations is heating up. South Sudan has accused the government of Oman al-Bashir of arming militias and instigating attacks. Hundreds have reportedly died in these clashes in recent weeks. Some observers are predicting another Sudanese civil war. Pray for the Lord to restore order and peace in Sudan. Pray for attempts by the North to bully and intimidate the South to fail. Ask the Lord to encourage and protect Christians in the South. Pray for them to stand in the gap for their nation. Petition the Lord to keep groups like the Muslim Brotherhood from gaining control. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed in both North and South Sudan. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come in great power and glory in both of these nations. (The Bible, Ezekiel 22:30)

Day 3 KUWAIT, ARABIAN PENINSULA

Shia and Sunni Muslims in Kuwait to be reached with the Gospel. Ask the Lord to soften their hearts and set them free from the lies of false religion. Pray for many Kuwaitis to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to Kuwait as it is in heaven. (The Bible, Matthew 6:10)

BANGLADESH, SOUTH ASIA

Relations between Bangladesh and India have reportedly “improved significantly” as the two nations have attempted to work together on eliminating terrorism along their common border. “We have decided to continue mutual cooperation on all security-related issues,” Border Guard Bangladesh said. “We have exchanged lists of insurgents, terrorists and miscreants and their camps….” Give thanks to the Lord for these efforts and pray for them to be successful in stopping terrorism in this region. Pray for extremist groups to be exposed and for their plans to fail. Ask the Lord to set the people of Bangladesh free from the lies of false religions. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed in this nation and for multitudes to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Colossians 1:13)

Day 4 JAPAN, EAST ASIA

This nation is still reeling from the huge earthquake, tsunami, radiation leak, and volcano catastrophes that struck in a matter of days in March 2011. More than 22,000 people were killed or are still missing. Pray for the God of all comfort to comfort the Japanese as they struggle to recover from these May 2011

deadly events. Ask the Lord to use this time of loss to soften the hearts of the people toward the Gospel. Pray for Christian humanitarian groups to provide for their physical needs and demonstrate the love of God. Petition the Lord for a great harvest of souls in the aftermath of these disasters. (The Bible, II Corinthians 1:3,4)

GUINEA-BISSAU, WEST AFRICA

Drug traffickers are using this nation as part of a trade route reaching from West Africa across the Sahara to East Africa. Cocaine and Afghan heroin are smuggled through what is referred to as “a free economic zone.” Together with the UN, the government of Guinea-Bissau is seeking to “build peace and security” in the region in order to “benefit women, men, families and children who live in fear of becoming victims of drug traffickers.” Pray for the government to be successful in shutting down the drug trade. Pray for the lawlessness and corruption in West Africa to be rooted out and put to an end. Ask the Lord to pour His Holy Spirit out on GuineaBissau. Pray for the people to have the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to this nation and for many to trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Romans 10:9)

Day 5 BHUTAN, SOUTH ASIA

Prime Minister Jigme Thinley recently called for a collaboration among nations in South Asia to more effectively fight the “menace of terrorism.” He also announced that he will host a conference in

August 2011 on ways to “enhance cooperation against the threat of terrorism.” Pray for this awareness of the problem to be turned into actions that will bring an end to terrorism in Bhutan and throughout South Asia. Pray for this Buddhist nation to open up to the Gospel. Ask the Lord to strengthen Christians in Bhutan and use them to declare His only Son, Jesus Christ. Petition the Lord for a great harvest of souls in Bhutan as the Kingdom of God comes with great power. (The Bible, John 4:35)

SAUDI ARABIA, ARABIAN PENINSULA

Pro-democracy protesters in Saudi Arabia recently called for a “day of rage,” like those held in other nations. But security forces cracked down on demonstrations held in the days leading up to the event. This effectively kept people off the streets on the “day of rage.” Pray for an end to the oppression in Saudi Arabia. Ask the Lord to set the people of this nation free from the bondage of Islam. Pray for the light of Christ to shine into the darkness. Petition the Lord to make the Gospel known throughout this closed nation. Pray for the tearing down of strongholds and for the Kingdom of God to come with signs, wonders, miracles, dreams and visions. Plead for the souls of the Saudi people. Ask the Lord for multitudes to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Acts 2:17)

out a campaign of security reform. The new program is considered essential after the “explosion of violence” in 2009 when “soldiers shot, raped and attacked hundreds of civilians, killing at least 150.” Pray for these reforms to be effective in maintaining safety and security in Guinea. Ask the Lord to root out corruption and raise Christian leaders to positions of authority. Pray for political peace in Guinea, as well as peace between God and man. Pray for the Gospel to be preached throughout this nation. Plead with the Lord for a great harvest of souls as the people of Guinea hear and respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come powerfully. (The Bible, II Corinthians 5:18)

THAILAND, SOUTHEAST ASIA

Seven antigovernment “red shirts” were released from jail in February after being charged with terrorism and sentenced to nine months. Four other protesters who were arrested recently, were also released on bail. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva then announced that elections would be held later this year – earlier than expected, possibly in June or July. Exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said the election

will “test the strength of Thai democracy.” Pray for the Lord to raise up leaders in this nation who will serve the people with integrity and humility. Pray for peaceful and fair elections conducted without rigging or manipulation. Ask the Lord to move powerfully in this nation, pouring out His Holy Spirit and drawing many Thais into relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Thailand as it is in heaven. (The Bible, Psalm 45:4)

Day 7 NIGER, WEST AFRICA

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) is thriving in the northern part of Niger. As western companies are increasingly drawn to Niger for its uranium, AQIM considers them easy targets for terrorism. The Global Post noted that AQIM “can operate with virtual impunity” in Niger. Pray for an immediate end to this demonically-inspired organization. Ask the Lord to cut off their funding and cause their recruiting efforts to fail. Pray for the salvation of AQIM leaders. Petition the Lord to move in the hearts of the people of Niger. Pray for a great spiritual awakening in which multitudes put their faith in

Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Acts 20:21)

KYRGYZSTAN, CENTRAL ASIA

According to the deputy chief of security, “Drug trafficking threatens Kyrgyzstan, along with terrorism and extremism.” He said smuggling drugs was becoming a popular activity, especially among members of low-income communities because the profit is so high. Pray for this illegal industry to be stopped. Ask the Lord to set the people of Kyrgyzstan free from greed and their addiction to drugs. Pray for the Gospel to be preached in this nation and for many to be delivered from crime. Petition the Lord to pour out His Holy Spirit upon Kyrgyzstan. Pray for a great harvest of souls as God’s Kingdom comes. (The Bible, Proverbs 5:22)

Pray for the Lord to protect Christians in this nation and give them opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to continue the harvest that is already taking place and cause it to grow. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Iran in power. (The Bible, I Corinthians 4:20)

BURKINA FASO, WEST AFRICA

This nation has become a source, transit and destination for the trafficking of women and children for both forced labor and sexual exploitation. They become slaves in gold mines and stone quarries, and are smuggled into other West African nations as agricultural laborers and prostitutes. Pray for this illegal and immoral practice to be brought to a swift end. Pray for the victims to be set free and healed of their emotional scars. Ask the Lord to expose trafficking rings and bring leaders to justice. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed in Burkina Faso and for those who hear it to respond by putting their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Petition the Lord

for a great harvest of souls and pray for revival to spill across borders, encompassing all of West Africa. (The Bible, Romans 10:8)

Day 9 MALI, WEST AFRICA

The government of Mali estimates al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has “200 hardcore members with several hundred others providing support.” They say the group is growing and has strengthened links with South American drug cartels. As much as 80% of the cocaine that reaches Europe is believed to be smuggled through this region. Pray for the Lord to give the government of Mali wisdom and strategies in combating AQIM. Pray for their funding to be cut off and for drug smuggling rings to be broken. Ask the Lord to make the Gospel known throughout Mali and to set the people free from the lies of false religions. Pray for many to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Mark 13:10)

AZERBAIJAN, SOUTHWEST ASIA

The government of Azerbaijan has been accused of supporting terrorism

and even sponsoring it. Western nations are currently working to promote reforms that would increase the nation’s capacity to combat terrorism. Pray for leaders in Azerbaijan to take a strong stand against all extremist groups and avoid using intimidation to control and manipulate. Pray for corruption to be rooted out and for the government to truly serve the people. Ask the Lord to communicate the Gospel to Azeris in a way they can understand. YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITHYOU “You can’t take it with you… but you can send it on ahead!” Those who have repented of their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord know where they’re headed when they die. Praise God for the salvation He has provided for us in the death, resurrection, and ascension of His only Son! But that doesn’t change the fact that you can’t take anything with you to heaven. All earthly treasures will have to stay here when you depart to be with the Lord.

Good news, though:

you can send treasure on ahead! When we pray, serve God, and give our finances to advance His Kingdom, we are adding to our heavenly treasure. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,” Jesus said, “where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matthew 6:l9,20). It’s like a savings account. We make deposits by being obedient to God in fulfilling the Great Commission and by generously investing in His work. So the next time you’re faced with a decision regarding how to spend your time, energy, or money, consider this: earthly things get left behind; Kingdom things get forwarded to heaven.

Pray for the government of Mongolia to use wisdom in dealing with Iran and other nations that might seek to take advantage of them. Pray for them also to avoid partnering with governments who support terrorism. Ask the Lord to continue pouring His Spirit out on this nation, drawing people out from Buddhism and into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Proverbs 1:7)

Day 31 EAST TIMOR, SOUTHEAST ASIA

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stated recently that “the sources of conflicts around the world were no longer confined to ideological differences, territorial and border disputes or fighting off secessionist rebellions.” Because of this, the president said, partnerships and mutual cooperation are essential. Pray for these partnerships to be effective in defending East Timor and other nations in southeast Asia from the threat of terrorism. Ask the Lord to give President Yudhoyono wisdom and discernment in defending his country and its people. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in www.WIN1040.com

East Timor. Petition the Lord to display His love and mercy in this nation and to establish His Kingdom. Pray for multitudes to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Psalm 6:9)

THE GAMBIA, WEST AFRICA

Illegal migration is such a problem in the Gambia that the minister of Interior has described it as a “social menace.” Many people, especially youths, set out for “greener pastures at the expense of their lives,” he said. Pray for the people of Gambia to seek their satisfaction in the Lord. Pray for their journeys to lead them to people who love Jesus Christ and can share the Gospel with them. Ask the Lord to set Muslims free from the lies of false religion. Pray for a great harvest of souls in the Gambia as people put their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Invite God’s Kingdom to come and to be established in all of West Africa. (The Bible, Acts 8:4)

GAZA STRIP, MIDDLE EAST

Tensions are rising again in the Gaza Strip after more than 100 rockets were fired into Israel by Hamas members in one week in March. Observers now believe a major Israeli ground invasion might be coming. The last invasion left more than 1,400 dead and thousands homeless. Pray for peace in the Middle East. Pray for the Lord to protect the people of the Gaza Strip from conflicts between Hamas and the Israeli military. Pray for Hamas to lose support and power. Ask the Lord to provide food, shelter, clean water, and medicine to those in the Gaza Strip who are still suffering from the effects of the last invasion.

Libya

Showdown T

he unrest that began in Tunisia seemed to pass by Libya as it raced across North Africa to Egypt and then up, into the Arabian Peninsula and the Middle East. But by February 2011, it had erupted in Tripoli. Despite appeals by leader Muammar al-Qadhafi and his family, demonstrations continued. Violence began to break out after Qadhafi blamed the turmoil on terrorists, drug addicts, western 32 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

nations, Israel…. He then ordered military troops to fire on protesters. This resulted in an exodus as thousands of Libyans fled across the borders into Tunisia and Egypt. As the humanitarian crisis mounted and untold numbers were murdered by Qadhafi’s troops, a rebel force formed and took control of several coastal cities. Qadhafi responded by taking back some of the cities and cornering most of the rebels in Benghazi. www.WIN1040.com

On March 19, NATO allies took the first step in securing a no-fly zone in an effort to bring about a ceasefire. Fighter jets attacked and hundreds of missiles were fired at strategic Libyan targets. At this writing, Qadhafi is still refusing to step down, despite national and international demands. Before this turmoil, Libya was one of the most closed countries in the world in terms of the Gospel. It

“ Imagine if the hearts of Christians around the world were recaptured by the self-giving example of Christ’s love being poured out for us on the cross. What might that kind of radical Christian giving look like…?” —Stephen Grabill, Kingdom Stewardship

Imagine laying your time, talents, hopes, dreams, and finances at the feet of Jesus. Then imagine leaving them there – where they belong. Imagine what that would look like in practical terms. It would certainly look very different from the “gimme-gimme” attitude practiced by much of the world and would stand out dramatically from the selfishness and greed that drives most people. Radical Christian living and giving would cause many people – even some Christians – to stop and stare. If we dare to take up that challenge, the world will see the love of Christ illustrated through us. What an opportunity! And what an honor: to follow the example of our Lord and Savior by pouring ourselves out for His glory. Instead of simply imagining what radical Christian giving might look like, why don’t we try it and find out. Let’s start today – right now – by surrendering everything to the Lord. And let’s ask Him what He wants us to do with the resources He has entrusted to us. Invite Him to show you the role He wants you to play in reaching the people of the 10/40 Window with the Gospel. Go to www.WIN1040.com to explore ways to pray and give toward the advance of the Kingdom of God in the “final frontier of missions.”

The

Generosity Movement

T

here is a new movement afoot. Or at least, there could be. If we choose to join in.

A Generosity Movement has been proposed by certain segments of the Body of Christ. It calls for a return to Biblical standards in terms of giving. A movement like this would involve: Christians being good stewards of God’s resources attentive obedience to God an appreciation of and openhandedness with all that God has given us – including money, but also life, breath, relationships, time… generosity as a fundamental part of what it means to be a disciple all believers “excelling in” the privilege of giving

What is keeping the Generosity Movement from taking hold in the Church? “God blesses Christians with vast resources,” says Dr. Sas Conradie, coordinator of the Resource Mobilization Working Group (RMWG). “Unfortunately, Christians are keeping the blessing for themselves instead of sharing it in God’s mission in the world. We need a movement of whole life disciples of Jesus Christ who give and share freely, abundantly and joyfully the financial resources God has entrusted to them.” The Lord Himself gave us a mission to perform (The Bible, Matthew 28:18-20). We know He has provided the resources, yet the job hasn’t been finished. Why? What impact would a Generosity Movement have on completing the Great Commission?

At Window International Network, we are seeking to reach the least-reached nations and people groups on planet earth. We do that by mobilizing prayer for the 10/40 Window and by raising up and equipping leaders inside this region who will effectively evangelize, plant churches, and disciple others. It’s a big job. And that’s why we need your help. Join the Generosity Movement today by investing the resources God has entrusted to you in His Kingdom. Prayerfully consider giving generously to the work WIN is doing in the final frontier of missions. Sources: “Consultation Document” RMWG

PRAYER JOURNEY Preparation One of the most common questions about prayer journeys is, “What will I be doing?”

Y

ou have realized the importance of “praying on-site with insight.” You’ve been seeking the Lord and He has given you the okay. You’re in the Word, in prayer, in fellowship. Now what? The next step in your prayer journey is to find out what your assignment is. You could just head out to a destination of your own choosing. But that would most likely be fruitless at best, reckless, even dangerous at worst.

Part II

The Lord has specific plans and purposes for the nations and peoples of the 10/40 Window. And He desires to use us to accomplish them – if only we will surrender to Him.

It’s decision time. Surrender is what needs to happen. And as you submit to the Lord’s desire, you will be setting yourself up to be a useful member of the prayer journey team.

That’s what it will take to get you from “I want to go and I’m prayed up,” to “Here I am, Lord, send me.” Ask the Lord where He wants you to go. Start looking into prayer journey trips.

One of the greatest assets – a quality sure to add to the effectiveness of your trip – is submission to authority. Decide now, before you’re in the streets of a foreign capital, that you will submit without question or hesitation to the Lord. And take that same attitude toward your team leader and

ns fellow members. Choose now to go as a servant (The Bible, Mark 10:45). After the Lord identifies your assignment, start praying for that nation. Do some research (go to www.WIN1040.com for profiles or to download the Praying Through the Window 9 prayer booklet). Find out if any of the people from that country have migrated to your area. You’d be surprised how many members of unreached groups are walking the streets of our hometowns. May 2011

Start praying with your team. The Lord will begin to reveal insights, direct your focus, and even provide prophetic words to get you ready for your trip. With where and when out of the way, you can begin to deal with practical preparations. Sourced: Praying Through the Window IV: Practical Manual for Prayer Journeyers and Home Based Intercessors

Syr

hings have not changed in Syria in many decades. In 1963, emergency law was enacted. This banned all public demonstrations, suspended constitutional rights, and gave the government great control. It has not been suspended. In 1970, the Assad family took control – first Hafiz al-Assad (30 years), then his son, Bashar (since 2000). After 40 years in power, they continue to rule. But things are finally starting to change in Syria.

Propelled by demonstrations that have shaken the rest of the Arab world, Syria finds itself having to change. As unrest gave birth to street protests, President al-Assad agreed to make reforms. But that was not enough. On March 29, the president accepted the resignation of the government. Yet protesters are still calling for the president to step down.

Tens of thousands have participated in the pro-democracy demonstrations. They are clearly tired of living in a nation where the president is elected by a referendum – running unopposed. They want multi-party elections. And they want human rights violations to end. According to Human Rights Watch, the government of President al-Assad arrests members of the opposition, will not allow Syrians to leave the country, and arbitrarily detains and tortures citizens. “It also grants leniency for so-called honor crimes.” Foreign embassies are reportedly guarded by secret police to keep Syrians from seeking asylum. Although Islam is not the state religion, the constitution insists the president be a Muslim. Perhaps the president will listen to the people and step down. Perhaps 48 years of emergency law and 40 years of Assad control will soon end. We can only watch and pray. Sourced: The Jerusalem Post, CNN 38 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

Praying Through The Window 9

Global Terrorism and World Religions Prayer Calendar

You prayed and the Lord is answering. God is moving powerfully in the 10/40 Window. Terrorists are being apprehended and subdued. People who have been blinded by false systems of religion are seeing the Light of Jesus Christ. The harvest is accelerating. Much of the 10/40 Window is in turmoil. Change is in the air. Governments have fallen. Others are in jeopardy. Nations are being birthed. Which is why we have produced the new, 2011 Praying Through the Window 9 (PTTW9) calendar. We haven’t changed our focus – we are still targeting the issues of global terrorism and world religions inside the 10/40 Window. But we have updated the information to help you pray more accurately and strategically.

Is it possible to hold a mini-Global Day of Prayer every day of the year? Dr. Victor Choudhrie, a church planting leader in India, thinks so. Which is why he has issued a summons to the Body of Christ to pray in harmony each morning and has even provided an outline to help make it happen. 3@6 invites Believers the world over to spend 3 minutes praying for global evangelism at 6 a.m. every morning. Choudhrie’s suggestions for utilizing this time include the following:

1st minute Pray for the harvest. Ask the Lord to reach the unreached, seek and save the

lost, and for the Gospel to be preached in every nation, among every tribe, tongue, and people. Pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send workers into His harvest field.

2nd minute Pray for the fields. Ask the Lord to open doors to closed nations, open hearts

and minds, and remove the veil from the eyes of those in bondage to Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and ethnic religions. Pray for tentmakers, undercover missionaries, and members of the underground Church to be protected and encouraged, to have opportunities to share the Good News, and for their efforts to bring forth abundant fruit.

3rd minute Listen. Ask the Lord to reveal His strategies and plans to pray for and evangelize the

10/40 Window. Allow Him to place a specific nation or people group on your heart. Ask Him to show you how to intercede on their behalf and to help you adopt a “watch and pray” attitude that will keep you open to His guidance throughout the day.

It’s an incredibly simple, yet potentially powerful way to finish the task (The Bible, Matthew 24:14; 28:18-20; Revelation 5:9). The question is: Can we spare 180 seconds of our day to see God’s most passionate desire fulfilled?

Japan Hymie: Hello, WindowKids! I am

here today with a prayer alert for our friends in Japan. On March 11, 2011, a terrible earthquake struck this nation, and it created a deadly tsunami. The enormous waves and monstrous flooding hit the northeastern coast of Japan near the city Kesennuma. Many people lost their homes, their friends, and their family members in this disaster. Yurika is one little girl who experienced these events.

Yurika: Hello, Hymnie and WindowKids Friends. I am from Kesennuma. It is a lovely town that sits just minutes from the northeastern coast of Japan. My school is in the middle of Kesennuma. I love my school, my friends, and my teachers. I have so many good memories of wonderful days in Kesennuma. Several weeks ago, the teachers started to plan a graduation ceremony for us because we will be moving into the next grade level. Everyone was very excited about the celebration. These ceremonies always have music, special treats, and all the families come to join in the fun. In Japan, it is a special honor to graduate to the next level, so there are even presents that day. Everyone looks forward to Graduation Day! Because of the earthquake and the tsunami, our school leaders had to decide whether or not to have the graduation ceremony. Several of the students had lost friends and some lost their families. WindowKids, do you know what the school did? The school decided they wanted hope to fill the halls once again. They decided there were still many things to celebrate and be thankful for. Everyone at the school came together as a family and began to look for missing teachers, students, and family members.

And guess what? Several people were found! Money, food, and supplies were gathered for those who needed help. Friends, I think we can learn so much from the generosity of the Japanese people. They honored the lives of those that were affected by the earthquake and tsunami. They came together to share what they had with one another. They give thanks for the lives that were spared in the midst of tragedy.

Hymie: The Bible tells us, “Greater love has no one than this, than one lay down his life for his friends” (The Bible, John 15:13). WindowKids, as the Body of Christ, we are told to love others and help our friends when they are in need. Let us pray for the people in Japan. Ask the Lord to keep them safe and for many there to hear about Jesus. Pray for our Brothers and Sisters to be cared for and used to care for others. Let’s ask God to help Japan recover quickly from this disaster.

Sources: www.channel4.com; news.yahoo.com;

www.thesun.co.uk; www.akronohiomoms.com I’d love to hear how your prayer groups are going. You can write and tell me at myhymnie@windowkids.com.

God promises in His Word that He will call His people from the Nations. As you think of the WindowKids in Japan who are recovering, remember Jeremiah 31:33. God loves and cherishes the people of Japan. “ But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Jeremiah 31:33 Take a few minutes to journal a prayer for the lovely people of Japan. When we pray the Word of God, our prayers become “SUPER-POWER” prayers. Try to use Jeremiah 31:33 as you write out your prayer. [Parents/Teachers: If your WindowKid(s) is/are too young to write it out, take some time to pray together out loud, remembering Jeremiah 31:33.]
