Praise Report

“ We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.”–The Bible, Psalm 75:1 AFGHANISTAN According to “Operation World,” Afghanistan has the lowest percentage of Christians of any nation in the world. However, it also has the second fastest growing Evangelical Christian population in the world. Give thanks to the Lord for what He is doing in this nation. Ask the Lord to strengthen and encourage Christians in Afghanistan. Pray for Him to give them boldness to share their faith. Petition the Lord for a great harvest of souls in Afghanistan.

THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA While the

Iran Iran is number two on the Open Doors World Watch List 2011 of the world’s worst persecutors of Christians. It is also number eleven on the list of the nations with the fewest Christians. However, God is powerfully working in Iran: it has the fastest growing evangelical population in the world! Praise the Lord for this. Pray for the Christian in Iran to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Ask the Lord to continue adding to His Church in this nation.

The Lord’s name is very near, as the following praise reports testify.

governments of most Islamic nations in North Africa and the Middle East forbid missionary work, SAT-7 is reaching them with satellite television broadcasts. Launched in 1996 (three years after the first Praying Through The Window prayer initiative began), SAT-7 started with two hours of weekly programming. Today it consists of five satellite channels watched by at least 15 million people in this region. “Several years ago,” writes SAT-7, “an authoritative survey concluded that more than half of all

believers in one North African country had come to Christ as a result of watching SAT-7!” Give thanks to God for this and pray for Him to continue to use this ministry and others like it to penetrate the Middle East and North Africa with the Gospel. Pray for multitudes of Muslims to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Who will lead the country? Who will write the laws? Who will make the decisions? Will the voting be fair? Will there be violence? Will the outcome reflect the will of the people? Elections can change the course of nations. As you consider those scheduled to be held this month: Pray for fair elections free from rigging and manipulation. Ask the Lord to raise up men and women who will serve with integrity, righteousness, and justice. Pray for an end to corruption and graft. Invite the Lord to appoint those of His choosing and fulfill His purposes in the nations of the 10/40 Window.

But that wasn’t the enemy’s plan. The enemy tried to deceive Samir and bring him into bondage to the false religion of Islam. When he was a boy, Samir’s parents took advantage of an opportunity to provide him with

a free, quality education. That meant sending him away to the northern part of their nation. The nation was Sudan and the strategy was being carried out by the Muslim North in an effort to conquer the South. “The plan of the North,” Samir explains, decades later, “is that as a child living among other Muslim children, by interaction with them and the Islamic teaching, we are getting from school, one day we will become Muslims. They believe in 20 years to come, we will be leaders in the South and hopefully we will already be converted to Islam, and they will build a bridge to bring Islam to South Sudan.”

But two things happened to disrupt this plan: 1) God’s people prayed and, 2) God responded. Instead of becoming a Muslim, Samir put his faith in Jesus Christ. He is now the pastor of a large denomination and a WIN associate. Samir and his former classmates are leaders in South Sudan and they will play a key role in the future of this new nation.

Your prayers and financial support are making a huge impact on the final frontier of missions. Thanks to you, leaders like Samir are being raised up and the Kingdom of God is advancing in places like South Sudan.

Day 1 INDIA, SOUTH ASIA

The government of India met with leaders from Bangladesh in July 2011 to discuss ways to cooperate in the war on terrorism. “India and Bangladesh are committed to fighting terrorism as it is not possible for one country alone to uproot it,” one of those in attendance told the press. Give thanks to God for the realization that cooperation is needed to defeat extremist groups. Pray for this partnership to be effective. Ask the Lord to continue moving powerfully in India, opening blind eyes to the Truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for a great harvest of souls in this nation. Petition the Lord to pour out His Holy Spirit and draw men, women, and children from every people group into relationship with Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, Psalm 146:8)

MAURITANIA, NORTH AFRICA

The Mauritanian military launched a counterattack against al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) in July 2011. Twenty members of the terrorist group were reportedly killed and nine were captured. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Mauritania in power. (The Bible, Psalm 145:13)

Day 2 North SUDAN, NORTH AFRICA The government of North Sudan violated part of its agreement with South Sudan in July 2011 by issuing a new currency. Ask the Lord to tear down strongholds of Islam in North Sudan. Pray for Muslims to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Petition the Lord for a great harvest of souls in North Sudan. (The Bible, Proverbs 11:13) www.WIN1040.com

Pray for these and other conflicts to be settled. Pray for the Lord to arise and do battle on behalf of South Sudan. Ask the Lord to protect this new nation from North Sudan’s attempts to take advantage of them or even harm them. Pray for peace between these nations. Though laws are reportedly being considered, the nation has failed to “issue laws for domestic laborers and against human trafficking.” Pray for the government to focus their attention on this problem. Ask the Lord to protect children – especially girls – from exploitation. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in this nation, convicting hearts and leading Kuwaitis into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come to Kuwait as it is in heaven. (The Bible, Matthew 6:10)

Day 4 JAPAN, EAST ASIA

The yakuza crime network has positioned itself to take advantage of Japan’s recovery plan. Yakuza was one of the first sources of help after the disaster, but observers believe they were attempting to win the favor of local governments in order to gain construction contracts – which help fund their illegal activities. Pray for this crime syndicate to be exposed and for their efforts to steal relief funds to fail. Ask the Lord to protect the people of Japan from those who would take advantage of their situation. Pray for this time of rebuilding and recovery to also be a time of heightened spiritual hunger. Petition the Lord to pour His Holy Spirit out on Japan and draw multitudes of men, women, and children into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, John 6:65)

GUINEA-BISSAU, WEST AFRICA

Protests broke out in GuineaBissau in July 2011. Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets to call for Prime Minister Carlos Gomes Junior to step down. Child marriages (adult men marrying girls as young as12) have become so common in Saudi Arabia that the ministry of justice is now working to outlaw this practice. Global Terrorism and World Religions Prayer Calendar

You prayed and the Lord is answering. God is moving powerfully in the 10/40 Window. Terrorists are being apprehended and subdued. People who have been blinded by false systems of religion are seeing the Light of Jesus Christ. The harvest is accelerating. Much of the 10/40 Window is in turmoil. Change is in the air. Is it possible to hold a mini-Global Day of Prayer every day of the year? Dr. Victor Choudhrie, a church planting leader in India, thinks so. Which is why he has issued a summons to the Body of Christ to pray in harmony each morning and has even provided an outline to help make it happen. 3@6 invites Believers the world over to spend 3 minutes praying for global evangelism at 6 a.m. every morning. Choudhrie’s suggestions for utilizing this time include the following:

1st minute Pray for the harvest. Ask the Lord to reach the unreached, seek and save the

lost, and for the Gospel to be preached in every nation, among every tribe, tongue, and people. Pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send workers into His harvest field.

2nd minute Pray for the fields. Ask the Lord to open doors to closed nations, open hearts

and minds, and remove the veil from the eyes of those in bondage to Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and ethnic religions. Pray for tentmakers, undercover missionaries, and members of the underground Church to be protected and encouraged, to have opportunities to share the Good News, and for their efforts to bring forth abundant fruit.

3rd minute Listen. Ask the Lord to reveal His strategies and plans to pray for and evangelize the

10/40 Window. Allow Him to place a specific nation or people group on your heart. Ask Him to show you how to intercede on their behalf and to help you adopt a “watch and pray” attitude that will keep you open to His guidance throughout the day.

It’s an incredibly simple, yet potentially powerful way to finish the task (The Bible, Matthew 24:14; 28:18-20; Revelation 5:9). The question is: Can we spare 180 seconds of our day to see God’s most passionate desire fulfilled?

Although East Timor is a mostly “Christian” nation, many of the traditions are not. In July 2011, a long running conflict between rival gangs near the capital city was settled with a dance, a prayer, and sacrifice of a goat and a pig. This ceremony, known as the Tara Bandu, is usually led by the person who is in charge of the “spiritual performance” of the area and is believed to be “close to the ancestors.” This person, called the Lulik Nain, takes part of the sacrificed animal and offers it in a sacral house, calling the ancestors to participate, and declares a magic formula, complete with a curse. The three-word title of this article is enough to cause controversy. The term “Palestinian Territories” came into use after the Six-Day War of 1967. Before that time, the West Bank was occupied by Jordan and the Gaza Strip was occupied by Egypt. Today, both are occupied by Israel.

The Gaza Strip The West Bank More than 2.5 million people live in the West Bank. The majority of the residents (approximately 75%) are Palestinian Arabs who practice Sunni Islam. Before World War I, this region was part of the Ottoman Empire. It wasn’t until after World War II that the United Nations designated the West Bank area as part of what they proposed to be a Palestinian state. After the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, Trans-Jordan (now Jordan) took control of the area. Jordan did not formally hand it over to the Palestinian Authority (PLO) until 1988. Today, the West Bank is governed partially by the Palestinian Authority (Fatah) and partially by Israel. Palestinians in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are seeking independence. Many desire for these “territories” to become nations. In September, the United Nations will be voting on the statehood issue. September 2011

Despite its size – just 25 miles long and varying between 4 and 7.5 miles wide – the Gaza Strip has a population of more than 1.5 million. That makes it one of the highest density areas on planet earth. According to BBC news, “The majority of Gaza’s residents are from refugee families which fled or were expelled from the land that became Israel in 1948. Most Gazans live in eight refugee camps to which the United Nations delivers health, education and other humanitarian services.” Access to the Gaza Strip has always been restricted, but, when Hamas took over governmental leadership in 2007, Israel imposed a stricter blockade. “Only basic humanitarian items have been allowed in, and virtually no exports permitted, paralyzing the economy.” The citizens of the Gaza Strip are suffering the effects of Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist group. Hamas continues to fire rockets into civilian populations in Israel. These attacks along with many suicide bombings have resulted in Israeli deaths.

Hamas In Arabic, the letters H-A-MA-S stand for Islamic Resistance Movement. The organization was formed in 1987 when the first Palestinian uprising (intifada) took place in protest of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It has a military branch (the Izz al-Din Qassam Brigades) and a social welfare branch. Hamas refuses to recognize Israel and is dedicated to not only a Palestinian state, but jihad (holy war) against Zionists (Israel). Hamas is part of the Muslim Brotherhood and is considered a terrorist organization by Israel and several western nations. YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITHYOU “You can’t take it with you… but you can send it on ahead!” Those who have repented of their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord know where they’re headed when they die. Praise God for the salvation He has provided for us in the death, resurrection, and ascension of His only Son! But that doesn’t change the fact that you can’t take anything with you to heaven. All earthly treasures will have to stay here when you depart to be with the Lord.

Good news, though:

you can send treasure on ahead! When we pray, serve God, and give our finances to advance His Kingdom, we are adding to our heavenly treasure. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,” Jesus said, “where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matthew 6:l9,20). It’s like a savings account. We make deposits by being obedient to God in fulfilling the Great Commission and by generously investing in His work. So the next time you’re faced with a decision regarding how to spend your time, energy, or money, consider this: earthly things get left behind; Kingdom things get forwarded to heaven.

How is your eternal account looking? For an opportunity to “send it on ahead,” advance the Kingdom and, most importantly, honor God with your finances, go to www.WIN1040.com/donate and make a contribution to Window International Network. It’s guaranteed to be waiting for you – with untold dividends! – when you reach heaven.

Nigeria is a nation divided... ...the North mostly Muslim, the south mostly Christian. Where these two regions meet has seen great violence and many casualties. For instance, in 2009, many Christians were killed in Bauchi state. Approximately 500 were displaced and churches, schools, homes, and businesses were burned by Muslim rioters. According to Voice of the Martyrs (VOM), 12 of the northern states have enacted Shari’a law. Much of the violence has involved a desire to impose Shari’a throughout Nigeria. “In some cases,” says VOM, “young women are kidnapped, compelled to convert to Islam and forcibly married to Muslim men. The kidnappers are then protected by Shariah courts.” In the latest wave of violence, Christians have been abandoning their churches, and have been driven from their homes by attacks from the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram. In Borno state, Compass Direct reports, “Christians have been streaming out of Malduguri, about 540 miles northeast of the Nigerian capital of Abuja, where some of the worst-hit churches are located. Churches are shutting down as many of their members have lost their lives in attacks….” Boko Haram (literally: “Western/non-Islamic education is a sin”) is seeking to impose Shari’a law throughout Nigeria by force. Some believe they are affiliated with al-Qaeda. The group has declared jihad (“holy war”) and is attacking Christians and bombing churches. In at least one case, members of Boko Haram pretended they were interested in converting to Christianity in order to enter a church and destroy it.

Pray for

Christians in Nigeria to be strong and courageous in the Lord. Pray for Him to empower them to stand firm, love their enemies, and pray for those who mistreat them. (The Bible, Joshua 1:7) Boko Haram and every other Islamic terrorist group to be defeated. Pray for the government to take immediate action against these wicked organizations. (The Bible, Psalm 37:10)

Israel Avi sat with his brothers and sisters in the bathroom of their apartment. They could hear the siren wailing, warning families to take cover. Avi was the oldest of 5 children. He knew he had to be brave for his little brothers and sisters. But on the inside, he was afraid. Whenever the sirens went off, it meant there was a missile attack from terrorists across the border in the Gaza Strip. Most of the time, nothing happened. But sometimes they could hear explosions.

Eloheynu, Adonai Echad.” (Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is One.) Despite the lump in his throat, Avi joined in: “Shema, Israel, Adonai Eloheynu, Adonai Echad.” Then his brothers and sisters began to say it too: “Shema, Israel, Adonai Eloheynu, Adonai Echad.” Suddenly Avi realized the siren had stopped. His father noticed too. After listening for a moment, his father said, “Now it’s over.”

When Avi’s mother and father came to the bathroom, Avi asked, “Is it over?” The siren was still screaming, which meant it was not over. But Avi hoped maybe the siren was wrong. “Not yet,” his father said as they sat down with the children. One of Avi’s sisters began to cry.

Before Avi and his brothers and sisters could hurry out of the bathroom, his mother exclaimed, “Thank Yahweh!” His father nodded. “We give thanks to You, Yahweh for our safety – in the name of Yeshua Ha-Mashiach, (Jesus Messiah) Amen.”

His father patted her head. “Say the Shema with me,” he said. And he began to recite Deuteronomy 6:4: “Shema, Israel, Adonai

under the threat of missile attacks. They are the target of terrorist who want to destroy them. So they must call on God for their safety. Let’s pray for them this month. Ask the Lord to be a refuge and strength to those who follow Yeshua (Jesus). And pray for all who do not know Yeshua to hear the Gospel and put their faith in Him as Messiah. Pray also for the salvation of the terrorists. Ask the Lord to draw them into relationship with Yeshua.
