WELCOME I hope you have had an enjoyable winter season. At Windsor, we have enjoyed several exciting events including the reopening of our Robert Trent Jones Jr. links-style golf course. After an extensive renovation that began in April last year, the course reopened in December to much fanfare. See page 3 for a recap of our ceremonial ribbon-cutting with Windsor founders The Hon. Hilary and Galen Weston. The fifth biennial Windsor Charity Polo Cup took place in February and was a resounding success. Presented by PNC Bank, the family friendly event drew nearly 2,000 people to Windsor and featured a roster of world-class players in a fast-paced high-goal polo match. It has been an active season for real estate with numerous sales and the welcoming of new Members to Windsor. We currently have a diverse offering of homes available for purchase from intimate Row Houses to grand Country Estates. We recently announced a major community expansion to include 34 to 36 homesites in a new North Village development. County approvals are expected in the fall with sitework commencing immediately thereafter. We are excited about sharing more details on this new residential phase being designed by Windsor’s original planner, Andrés Duany of Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company.

RIBBON CUTTING ROBERT TRENT JONES JR. RENOVATED GOLF COURSE OFFICIALLY OPENS A large gathering of Windsor Members and guests met at the Clubhouse in January to celebrate the official reopening of Windsor's legendary golf course. The course had undergone a renovation during the 2019 off season to become more sustainable and to create an even more exciting playing experience for Members. There was much cheering and applause as Windsor co-founders the Hon. Hilary and Galen Weston cut the ceremonial ribbon, declaring Windsor's golf course officially reopen for play. Windsor’s Director of Golf Jeff Steele hosted the event in conjunction with Bruce Charlton, President and Chief Design Officer of Robert Trent Jones II, the course’s original designers. Charlton oversaw the renovation alongside Windsor’s Golf Course Superintendent, Jason Schoonover. Steele welcomed everyone to the event which was relocated from the first tee to the Clubhouse patio due to rain. Gord Nixon, Windsor Member and Chair of the Club's Golf Committee, congratulated the project team, gave a heartfelt thanks to the Westons and presented them with a gift on behalf of the Windsor Membership. “Galen and Hilary, this new golf course has been built to your standards and I can speak for all Members in saying that it is a great course – one of the best in Florida – and the Membership cannot thank you enough for your willingness to ensure it remained so,” Nixon said. Charlton thanked the entire team involved and also discussed the nuances of the project and significant reinvestment in the course. He described the Westons as gutsy for agreeing to enhance an already fantastic course.

“We just can’t thank you enough for that support," Charlton said. "Believe me, it was a pleasure, an absolute labor of love, to come back and kind of dress it up and polish it." Charlton presented Mr. and Mrs. Weston with a gift on behalf of Robert Trent Jones Jr. in the form of a signed memoir. As the rain subsided, Windsor Member, professional golfer and tour champion Paul McGinley had the honor of being the first to tee off on the new course. Upon conclusion of the festivities, attendees were invited to the Clubhouse patio and bar for cocktails in celebration of the momentous occasion. The recent course renovation included grass replacement on all playing surfaces and practice areas, including greens, tees, fairways and roughs. Also, tee surfaces were enlarged and repositioned, while original hole locations and bunker shapes were reinstated. The team reestablished the vegetation diversity around the natural planting areas, introducing more drought-tolerant Bermuda grass for fairways and rough, and reduced the areas that needed to be mowed. A new state-of-the-art Rainbird irrigation system was installed to offer better coverage while reducing overall water consumption. A new sub-air system was placed under all greens to help with drainage. A reduction in areas that need to be mowed has also reduced the overall carbon footprint of the course. With no tee times and pristine natural beauty, the newly refreshed course remains a treasured and accessible amenity for all Members and their guests.

LUXE HOME TOUR POPS OF COLOR AND INCREDIBLE LIGHT

10590 ETON WAY 7 BEDROOMS, 8 FULL A ND 4 H A LF BATHS – $9,950,000 This magnificent oceanfront home offers three levels of living space and sweeping sea views from almost all main-floor rooms. Elegant indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces, relaxed informal rooms and an expansive terrace with an ocean-facing infinity pool provide inspiring settings for every occasion.

When Vero Beach designer Rod Mickley was called in to refresh the interior of a home at Windsor, he knew right away what he would do: Lots of color. The end result was an eclectic style with an eye-catching mix of color and texture that Mickley describes as having both simplicity and complication. The new design caught the attention of editors at Luxe Interiors and Design magazine, which seeks to be a guide and resource for design, decorating, architecture and renovation. The home was featured in the November 2019 edition. The article uses powerful photos and vivid descriptions to show readers the beauty of this refreshed Windsor abode.

10570 ETON WAY 7 BEDROOMS, 6 FULL A ND 3 H A LF BATHS – $8,000,000 Comprehensively renovated in 2019, this property offers magnificent oceanfront living. At the second level of the home, where panoramic beach and ocean views are at their most exceptional, a remarkably expansive great room and open-plan kitchen and family room open to two covered porches.

The home is a mix of classic southern and island architecture although the cantilevered balconies and expanses of glass lend it a modern touch. Like most homes at Windsor, this residence was designed for homeowners who enjoy an indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

Mickley took note of the wonderful light pouring in through the huge windows and 10-foot-high doors. What he saw as he studied the scene – blue skies, sunshine and nature – would be his inspiration. He chose patterned fabrics in gold, red and turquoise. He added woven area rugs and sun-bleached wooden pieces.

THE FARMERS’ MARKET FRESH PRODUCE AT YOUR WINDSOR DOORSTEP Every Wednesday afternoon, rain or shine, during the Windsor season there is a flurry of activity under the shade of the black olive trees on Windsor Boulevard as setup begins for the Farmers’ Market. Conceived more than 10 years ago, the market has a loyal following of Members and their guests who show up each week for the array of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and much more. From 3 to 5 p.m. the market is abuzz with socializing and shopping. Pure Produce, one of Windsor's anchor vendors, sets up a display of heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and assorted fresh hydroponic lettuce heads so beautiful they could model for a still life painting. Schacht Groves, a family run citrus farm, brings fresh raw citrus juice, unprocessed grapefruit and oranges. Vickie's Seafood pulls up to the market with a refrigerated trailer filled with an assortment of seafood and meats. Members climb aboard to look through coolers to see what will be for dinner this week. Another favorite vendor, Marion's Orchids, tempts buyers to bring their own containers and choose from among a beautiful collection of orchids. The small but dynamic Windsor market is noted for its customer service. Friendly local vendors carry packages to Members' golf carts, take orders for special delivery and assist Members in planning menus for large family gatherings based on what items will be at their peak. The market offers much more than the basics. Members can buy homemade jams, quiche, coffee, spices, fresh eggs and goat cheese. Also for sale are non-food items including lavender products, candles, essential oils and pet supplies. “There is a science to the success,” says Melanie Atkins, the market’s coordinator. “Kindness and courtesy are the hallmarks for our vendors. We try not to duplicate offerings creating unnecessary competition. We offer a full selection of products that complement Windsor’s Village Store and could keep you out of the grocery store for a week if necessary.”

THE WINDSOR CHARITY POLO CUP A PROUD DAY FOR WINDSOR AND VERO BEACH

Nearly 2,000 people gathered at Windsor in February for an exciting day of fun and festivities that culminated in an exhilarating polo match with top-notch international players. Presented by PNC Bank, the fifth biennial Windsor Charity Polo Cup was co-hosted by Windsor co-founder The Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, grandson to the esteemed Italian footwear designer and CEO of Il Borro, the family's Tuscan hotel and estate. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the three benefiting charities, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, the Literacy Services of Indian River County and the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County in support of their respective causes. Windsor raised $333,000 in net proceeds to be divided equally between the three charities. At the February 15 charity match, two teams competed in one of the highest scoring matches in the event’s history. With goals coming in waves from both sides, the final score was 11-8 with team Hawthorne PNC Family Wealth, captained by Ferragamo, emerging victorious. Although the PNC team, captained by Justin Taylor, gave it a valiant effort, they could not stop Ferragamo from notching his first win in the event. South African polo player Nachi Du Plessis was awarded Most Valuable Player while Showboat, owned by Charlie Armstrong of the famed King Ranch in Texas, was honored as the Best Playing Pony. Both teams were awarded fantastic prizes from this year’s event sponsors and donors. “As many of you know, Galen and I founded Windsor, our ‘village by the sea,’ 31 years ago, with polo and equestrian pursuits at the very heart of our community,” said The Hon. Hilary M. Weston during her welcome remarks. “I hope all of you agree that Vero Beach is a very special place – volunteerism is alive and well here – and it is an honor to co-chair this wonderful event,” she added to a rousing applause from the guests at the luncheon. Even before the polo match, attendees found much to keep themselves entertained. More than 800 enjoyed an elegant field-side luncheon that began with champagne and a selection of passed canapés. Windsor Executive Chef Robert Meitzer also designed a tantalizing menu of Beef Tenderloin and Maine lobster. John Walsh, a regular supporter of the biennial event and TV host of ID’s In Pursuit with John Walsh served as the luncheon’s Emcee. Other spectators viewed the match from grandstand seating or enjoyed picnicking in the field-side tailgating area.

Charity raffle winners took home extravagant prizes donated by participating sponsors including rare wines donated by Bryant Estate and Il Borro, international travel packages, jewelry and more. One lucky winner took away the featured prize, a beautiful Paul Morelli 18K yellow gold equestrian necklace, valued at $16,000, donated by the event’s Luxury Jeweler Co-Sponsors, Belle Cose and Paul Morelli. A busy Specialty Retail Village featured a curated selection of pop-up boutiques. Among the luxury retailers were high-end clothing brands Ala von Auersperg, Keehn Deutch, J. McLaughlin and Stick & Ball; jewelry from Paul Morelli and Tamara Comolli; equestrian artwork from featured artist Carrie Nygren; and more. At the center of the Specialty Retail Village was the Chateau d’Esclans' Whispering Angel pop-up bar, a popular addition to the shopping experience. A portion of the proceeds from the Specialty Retail Village were donated to the benefitting charities. A themed tailgate competition was co-judged by National Media Sponsor Town & Country Editor-in-Chief, Stellene Volandes, Vero Beach Museum of Art Executive Director/CEO, Brady Roberts, and Everyday Elegance interior decorator, Alex Papachristidis. They awarded tailgate attendee Leslie Bergstrom with the Best Abstract Version of a Painting prize for her creation of “The Last Tailgate,” a nod to Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper. Best Reproduction was awarded to Val Kratky for her recreation of The South African Paintings of Marianne North. The People’s Choice Award was given to Katy and Jim Dyreby for Renoir’s Luncheon of the The Boating Party. Also on the schedule was an impressive junior match with a roster of talented young players on the Windsor junior team, including Graydon Weston, grandson of Hilary and Galen Weston. The afternoon also included a luxury automobile concours by The Space Coast Region of Porsche Club of America, and a performance by members of the Vero Beach Pipe & Drums during the half-time Divot Stomp. The 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup was supported by both national and local sponsors. Luxury brand and corporate sponsors include PNC Bank, Torwest, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Audi of Melbourne, CBRE, Laurent-Perrier, Chateau d’Esclans, Casa Dragones, Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Co., Sysco, Town & Country magazine and Vero Beach Magazine, among others.

ROSE WYLIE: LET IT SETTLE BIG, BOLD AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, The Hon. Hilary Weston hosted an exclusive weekend with an impressive guest list of leading members of the local, national and international art world. Although the artist was unable to attend, her two children, Luke and Henrietta Oxlade, were there to represent her. A short, colorful video of Tim Marlow in conversation with the artist was played at the opening of a panel discussion he led, with expert commentary by Jari-Juhani Lager and Melissa Blanchflower. The conversation was followed by a celebratory dinner hosted by Mrs. Weston at the Weston Guest House. Rose Wylie: Let It Settle is on display through April 30, 2020. Admission is free but visitors may choose to support The Windsor Charitable Foundation with a suggested tax-deductible donation of $10. The Gallery is open to the public by appointment. The Gallery is taking reservations for docent-led tours. Small groups of 12 can book tours Tuesdays through Thursdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tours can be accompanied by a luncheon in Windsor's Clubhouse dining room. Contact The Gallery at gallery@windsorflorida.com or 772 388 4071.

The thought-provoking and engaging Windsor exhibition of works by British artist Rose Wylie has the art world talking. Wylie has enjoyed much recent exposure in the United Kingdom in shows at Tate Modern, the Serpentine Gallery and Turner Contemporary, but the solo exhibition at The Gallery at Windsor is a special opportunity to showcase her work to a wider audience in the United States. Rose Wylie: Let it Settle opened January 28. This is the third annual exhibition at Windsor presented in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Arts in London as part of a three-year curatorial partnership launched in 2018 and it is the first exhibition in the program by a female artist. The previous two Royal Academicians hosted there as part of the partnership with the Royal Academy were Grayson Perry and Sir Michael Craig-Martin. The 13 artworks currently on view at Windsor were carefully chosen by curators Rodolphe von Hofmannsthal of David Zwirner and Jari-Juhani Lager, the artist’s longtime representative. The collection of whimsical, often large-scale compositions in exuberant colors, sometimes with text, reflect the artist’s interest in history, pop culture and royalty as well as Wylie’s own autobiography. The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue published by Windsor Press and Royal Academy Enterprises, including an interview with Tim Marlow, a foreword by Windsor co-founder and Creative Director for The Gallery The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, a letter by Christopher Le Brun and an essay by actor and contemporary art collector Russell Tovey.
