Welcome

I hope the new year is off to a wonderful start for you and your families.

At Windsor, we have embarked on a busy season and are enjoying a diverse roster of events and sporting activities.

In this issue we recap an informative Town Hall talk presented by award-winning journalist and CNN Chief Climate Correspondent Bill Weir. As part of our Sustainability Series, Weir’s presentation included insights from his fascinating experiences traveling the world meeting people who are thriving amidst a changing climate. Many of these stories of resilience and hope are instilled in his new book Life As We Know It (Can Be).

Windsor’s Beach Club, situated on a peaceful beach along a pristine stretch of the Treasure Coast, is a beloved amenity at Windsor. Re-imagined a few years ago by leading designer Alessandra Branca in collaboration with our co-founder The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, the Beach Club with its various dining venues is the ideal setting for casual to more formal affairs. See page 11 for more information.

The tranquil environment of the North Village, our final phase of development, is enhanced by a neighboring conservation area, Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. See page 5 for details on an exciting new amenity planned for the North Village. The observation tower, rising above the treetops, has been designed to provide Members with a birds-eye view of Pelican Island and its surrounding 5,400-plus acres of protected waters and lands.

In this winter edition, we also feature a selection of our properties currently on the market. If you are interested in learning more about the vibrant lifestyle and real estate opportunities at Windsor, we welcome you to experience Windsor firsthand. Please contact me or one of our Sales team associates listed below to arrange a visit.

Wishing you and your families a safe and happy winter season.

Sincerely,

Left Hand, Right Hand

CHRISTOPHER LE BRUN & CHARLOTTE VERITY

An exciting 2025 exhibition at The Gallery at Windsor offers a rare opportunity to view recent works by two major British artists on display side by side for the first time in the United States.

Left Hand, Right Hand showcases some of the largest-scale paintings to date of Sir Christopher Le Brun and Charlotte Verity, who met in 1974 at London’s Slade School of Fine Art and married in 1979. Works on view at Windsor will highlight the artists’ closely connected yet contrasting careers, both characterized by a continuing spirit of invention and renewal.

Le Brun held a solo exhibition at Windsor in 2017 when he was president of the Royal Academy of Arts. Windsor is delighted to have him return for a special show alongside Verity.

“We look forward to seeing Charlotte and Christopher’s work on display together at Windsor,” said The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, co-founder of Windsor and Creative Director of The Gallery at Windsor. “Curated by the artists’ friend Robin Vousden, this unique show promises to be full of personal observation, profound connection and aesthetic ingenuity.”

Left Hand, Right Hand opens January 25 with a private preview and evening reception for Windsor Members and guests, who will gain valuable insight about the works on display when Vousden joins the artists in conversation.

Also illuminating the artists’ works will be a fully illustrated catalogue accompanying the exhibition, with a foreword by Mrs. Weston. The book will re-issue lyrical and personal essays about each artist written by Edmund de Waal, first published in 2014 and 2016 by Ridinghouse, London. Also featured will be a new text on the artists’ work by Vousden, who explains that both artists “are painters of light, with all its flickering instability, motion and repose.”

memory and nature that is at one and the same time classic and romantic. Their painted language is one of truth to history and to the present.”

The Gallery at Windsor is currently taking reservations for docent-led tours of Left Hand, Right Hand, which runs through April 25. Public tours take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning January 28.

Tours are limited to 12 guests and include lunch in the Clubhouse. Price for tour and lunch with wine is $55 per person. This includes the suggested donation of $15 towards the Windsor Charitable Foundation. This $15 gift is tax-deductible and is designated to support arts nonprofit organizations. For questions or reservations, please contact The Gallery at 772 388 4071 or via email to gallery@windsorflorida.com.

Entranced by the works that will be on view at Windsor, Vousden writes: “Different as their paintings appear to be at first light, the work of Le Brun and Verity expands and extends an imaginative response to the landscapes of art, The Gallery at Windsor is open to the public by appointment. 3335 Abercrombie Way

7 BEDROOMS | 9 FULL AND 3 HALF BATHS | $11,500,000

Designed by critically acclaimed firm Jacobsen Architecture, this 19,000+ square foot assemblage of three lots features a main home, summer house and two separate guest cottages arrayed around extensive central lushly landscaped gardens and a 40-foot swimming pool. Masterfully designed with contemporary sophistication, this family compound provides the perfect balance of indoor and outdoor living, spaces for gathering together with friends and family and spaces for all to enjoy restful privacy. Featuring seven bedrooms, the home boasts magnificent views over the lake and Equestrian Centre and excellent proximity to all the amenities in Windsor’s Village Centre.

The North Village

LUXURY MEETS SUSTAINABILITY

Situated between Windsor’s charming residential village and the permanently protected habitats of the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, the 47acre North Village will be a seamless expansion of the existing picturesque community, with an increased focus on environmental conservation. More than half of the site is reserved for parks, native hammocks, and aquatic habitat.

Windsor plans to restore and enhance the natural landscape by selecting and placing native plants with a mix of colors and scents chosen to suit the barrier island’s unique climate. This pleasing tapestry will benefit wildlife, require less water than typical landscaping, and be a feast for the senses.

Amenities in the North Village will take advantage of the neighborhood’s idyllic setting adjacent to the Indian River Lagoon. Homeowners will enjoy a network of scenic trails designed for walking, biking and horseback riding excursions. Kayakers and paddlers will appreciate the boathouse with equipment storage and lagoon access.

Windsor’s arts program will expand into the North Village with permanent and temporary outdoor sculpture installations. An estuary will become home to an “Art Island” where architect- and artist-designed works will create an inspiring environment for quiet contemplation.

Another exciting amenity, planned for the northwest corner of the property, also will offer Windsor Members a tranquil spot for moments of meditation as well as social interaction. Rising above the homes and treetops, the North Village Observation Tower will blur the distinction between the natural and built environment, the ground below and the sky above.

Designed by architect Luis Van Cotthem, the tower will evoke historic structures once used for monitoring Florida’s citrus fields, a fitting homage to the citrus groves that once inhabited the site. At top, homeowners will enjoy panoramic views of the neighboring refuge, which includes Pelican Island and its surrounding 5,400-plus acres of protected waters and lands. The three-acre Pelican Island is a vital nesting ground for pelicans and other birds and wildlife.

Also located in the North Village will be the new 13,000-square-foot Fitness and Wellness Centre with studios for cardio, strength and flexibility training. The spacious facility also will house spa treatment rooms and relaxion spaces. To facilitate a connection to nature, areas for outdoor recreational activities will be located within the new complex and fitness programming will extend into the outdoors. The Fitness and Wellness Centre will be accessible to the entire multigenerational Windsor community.

As far back as the 1990s, Windsor pushed the boundaries of what an ideal development might be by embracing forward-thinking ideas that help people connect with each other and with their natural surroundings. As the community has evolved, it has intensified its eco-centric approach. The North Village, with its mix of 34 single-family residences and six Row Houses, is a special opportunity to reimagine how luxury residential communities can be stewards of the environment as well as highly desirable places to live.

The Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation

CREATING COMMUNITY THROUGH THE LITERARY ARTS

Since the 1990s, Windsor has shown a strong commitment to supporting the Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation (LRJF), which is dedicated to creating community through the literary arts.

The Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation was formed in 1992 by a small group of passionate preservationists interested in saving the author’s “cracker-style” historic home.

Today, LRJF continues to preserve the home and supports the legacy of Laura (Riding) Jackson by nurturing a passion for the written word through a variety of educational offerings for writers. Writers’ groups, summer camps, workshops, and poetry festivals offer lifelong learning opportunities for all ages.

The historic home and garden, now located on the campus of Indian River State College in Vero Beach, serves as an example of environmentally sensitive Florida architecture and horticulture and as a valued emblem of Laura’s significant contributions made in a life devoted to language and literature. The downtown 14th Avenue Writing Center, opened in 2017, offers a place for writers to meet, study, and socialize.

Each season, the Windsor community partners with LRJF. This year, The Gallery at Windsor will host LRJF poets on two occasions: on March 19, a group of adult poets will discuss the form known as Ekphrastic Poetry and read original works from that genre. On April 16, as part of the Gallery Finissage, a group of student poets will perform their original poems inspired by a tour and their impressions of the works in the exhibit Left Hand, Right Hand. These children will represent

just a small portion of students across Indian River County who will have access to free creative writing activities, groups, and summer camp thanks to financial support from Windsor.

More information about the Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation can be found at lauraridingjackson.org.

Windsor Executive Chef Justin Schreiber

FEATURED IN VERO BEACH MAGAZINE

No two days are alike for Chef Justin Schreiber.

One day Chef Schreiber may be challenged with fashioning artful appetizers for the opening reception of a world-class exhibition at The Gallery at Windsor. Another day he might be preparing small plates that enhance the wine, drinks, and mocktails served at Windsor’s more relaxed Spring Fest party.

Chef Schreiber talked about his culinary work at Windsor when he was featured in the January 2025 edition of “The Dish,” Vero Beach Magazine’s monthly entertaining column written by Chris Fasolino.

Readers learned that Schreiber accumulated invaluable knowledge about global cuisines and the art of fine dining as a student at the Florida Culinary Institute in West Palm Beach. During his career he has gained experience working at country clubs in Boca Raton and Boynton Beach, a Colorado hotel and an acclaimed French restaurant in Washington, D.C.

At Windsor, Chef Schreiber is tasked with planning imaginative menus for each of the community’s exceptional dining venues as well as creating inspired dishes for popular social gatherings.

One challenge Chef Schreiber especially enjoys is preparing seasonal dishes that pair perfectly with world-class wines for one of the Windsor Wine Association’s events. Throughout the season, the WWA hosts several walk-around wine tastings and dinners featuring world-class wineries. Club members enjoy informative presentations by winemakers accompanied by sumptuous dinners expertly prepared by the Windsor Beach Club culinary staff.

One of the advantages Chef Schreiber enjoys most at Windsor is the wonderful local seafood and fresh produce available in Indian River County and the surrounding area. The bounty of seasonal choices inform his menus at Windsor.

Town Hall Sustainability Series

FEATURING AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST BILL WEIR

During a December 2024 presentation at the Town Hall, award-winning journalist Bill Weir assured a Windsor audience that we can remain optimistic when discussing climate change.

As CNN’s chief climate correspondent, Weir has reported extensively on people and communities around the world who are thriving in the wake of a changing climate, and he says we can learn much from them about how to adapt.

Instead of fear, he said, why not focus on knowledge and hope?

Weir visited Windsor to discuss his latest book titled Life As We Know It (Can Be), which has been described as an inspiration for communities to galvanize around nature and each other as the best way to prepare and plan for what’s next.

The informative book highlights groundbreaking innovations in clean energy, food and water sources, and housing and building materials. It also touches on how happiness, resilience, and health should be part of the conversation around climate change.

In his hour-long Windsor presentation, Weir shared his first hand experiences traveling the globe and noted that a healthy ecosystem and healthy people are connected. He said it is possible for people to rally around nature and shared values, and to rethink how we build in the future.

“Windsor is a beautiful example of New Urbanism,” he said, “and the North Village, I know, is a great project that’s even going to take it to the next level … (with) passive homes that are more efficient.”

Weir was invited to Windsor as part of this season’s Town Hall Sustainability Series. The next talk in the series will be a February 5 presentation by landscape architect Claire Agre, who will speak about the evolving role of botanic gardens in conservation. Agre, co-founder of Unknown Studio Landscape & Architecture & Urban Design in Baltimore, Md., will share recent work at gardens around the country and discuss plans for the garden terraces at the Vero Beach Museum of Art’s expansion and renovation project.

Windsor is a beautiful example of New Urbanism and the North Village, I know, is a great project that’s even going to take it to the next level … (with) passive homes that are more efficient. ”

Perfect Beach Days

WINDSOR’S BEACH CLUB BECKONS

Among Windsor’s beloved amenities is its Anglo-Caribbean style Beach Club, a welcoming yet intimate space uniquely designed to encourage relaxation, social connection and culinary enjoyment.

In 2022, Windsor co-founder the Hon. Hilary M. Weston collaborated with designer Alessandra Branca to reimagine the Beach Club’s Salon and Bar. The renowned Italian-born designer added a dose of whimsy to the luxurious setting, creating a refreshed space perfect for pre-dinner beverages or nightcaps.

Upstairs, the elegant waterfront restaurant serves fine regional cuisine under a soaring raftered ceiling. Here, Windsor patrons are invited to slow down and savor the moment, with thoughtful service, imaginative dishes and meaningful shared experiences. Although the Veranda may be a serene extension of the gracious restaurant, it is its own distinct open-air dining venue with a coastal Italian menu and intoxicating views of the Atlantic shoreline.

Branca also was responsible for the soothing ambience of the open-air secondstory Cabana Bar that opened in 2021. Designed by architect Clem Schaub, the relaxed space, with long views across the 25-meter pool and out to the ocean beyond, is a favorite destination for refreshing drinks and small plates.

The Beach Club is an ideal setting for Member wedding receptions and other celebrations. In the Salon and Bar, Windsor Members regularly congregate for cocktail receptions and other special events. A deep loggia, also thoughtfully decorated with Branca’s artistic eye, is a perfect spot for small to medium sized gatherings.

The Beach Club offers Windsor Members many layers of enjoyment. An elevated boardwalk, designed to preserve the natural dunes, provides beach access from the pool area, where towels, chairs and umbrellas are available for Members and their guests. A private tunnel offers convenient pedestrian and golf cart access from Windsor’s Village Centre to the oceanside amenities.

Windsor’s pristine beach is part of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge that stretches 20 miles along Florida’s east coast in Brevard and Indian River Counties. The refuge is known as the most significant area for loggerhead sea turtle nesting in the world, as well as the most important spot for green turtle nesting in North America.
