WINDSOR MATTERS NOVEMBER 2021
WATCH OUT FOR
PORCH PIRATES
For many, the holidays signal the start of a busy online shopping season but in reality, year-round package delivery is becoming more and more commonplace. The Windsor Police Department wants to remind residents to be vigilant during the holiday season and throughout the year as packages arrive. Consider following these tips to thwart package thefts: • Ask a neighbor to pick up a package if you're away from home • Offer to pick up a neighbor's package for them • Request for packages to be sent to your post office or another participating mail delivery location • Share surveillance video of package theft with the police It’s important to note that Nextdoor, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are not replacements for our local police department. If you fall victim to porch pirates, please report it by calling the Windsor Police immediately.

HOLIDAY COOKING REMINDER
KEEP FATS, OILS & GREASE OUT OF THE DRAIN Once in your wastewater system, fats, oils and grease can harden in your pipes and clog drains, causing costly home repairs.
Scrape cooled grease and food scraps into the trash for disposal to prevent grease from damaging pipes.
Degreasing your drain DOES NOT prevent clogged pipes and creates a greater environmental problem.
Fats, oils and grease are bad for your plumbing and the town’s sewer system.
