CELEBRATING THE 4TH

Independence Day at Boardwalk Park!

Celebrate America's 246th birthday this July 4th with the Town of Windsor's annual Boardwalk Park fireworks display. Weather permitting, this dazzling show will begin shortly after 9:15 p.m., so be sure to find your spot early and enjoy the holiday in Windsor!

In addition to fireworks, this year’s celebration includes vendors at Boardwalk Park from noon until 9 p.m. There will also be a special free concert with a good mix of rock, jazz and country music provided by the 101st Army Band starting at 5:30 p.m.

Keep in mind that tents and other structures are not permitted, but feel free to bring your blankets and lawn chairs, pack a picnic, and get ready to sing along with some patriotic music. Park visitors are asked to make sure all trash is picked up prior to leaving the park.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

PARK INFORMATION BOARDWALK PARK RULES To ensure a safe Fourth of July celebration, the public is asked to respect the following: • Glass is not permitted in town parks.

• Charcoal grills are prohibited, as well as gas grills more than 300 square inches and tanks weighing more than 1 pound or 16 ounces.

• Tents and portable shelters are prohibited after 6 p.m.

• Pets must be on leash at all times, though it is recommended to leave them at home during the fireworks display.

• Parking on Hwy. 257 along Windsor Lake will be prohibited beginning at 7 a.m.

• After the fireworks show, the Windsor Police Department will be directing all vehicles in the area to make right turns only to assist with the flow of traffic.

• Cross railroad tracks at designated crossings.

BOATING ON WINDSOR LAKE July 4 is a non-motorized boating day. Boaters using personal watercraft can be on the water until 8 p.m. All personal watercraft outside of the swim beach must have a current Town of Windsor permit to use the lake. Watercraft rentals on Windsor Lake will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

CLOSURES The north section of the Dr. Tom Jones Trail at Windsor Lake, including the dog swim beach, will close at 8:30 p.m.

Sunday evening, July 3, for fireworks setup. The trail will reopen Tuesday, July 5.

DISABILITY PARKING Fifth Street will be reserved for those with visible disability permits starting at 7 a.m. Turn lanes on 4th through 7th streets will close at dusk. Additional disability parking will be available in the Boardwalk Park parking lot off of Birch Street.

The newer #2 Ditch Trail extension between the Dr. Tom Jones Trail at Windsor Lake and the Great Western Trail was constructed last winter and served to close a gap in the town's trail connectivity.

BIKING TO BOARDWALK ON THE FOURTH Fourth of July is right around the corner, and many folks are already planning their celebrations. For those living in town, bicycling to Boardwalk Park is a terrific option to avoid the holiday traffic. This year, bicycle connectivity is easier than ever! In the last two years, new sections of trail were constructed, improving how visitors and residents move from one area of Windsor to the next, by way of a well-connected trail system.

If you are looking to bike to Boardwalk Park from Windsor's northeast, look no further than the Great Western Trail. The trail connects Windsor and Severance and is a mixed-use paved trail built on the abandoned rail bed of the Great Western Railroad. Previously, there was a disconnect between the Great Western Trail and Boardwalk Park, but a new section of trail was completed over the winter, improving connectivity.

The Poudre River Trail serves as another option for heading to Boardwalk Park. The trail serves a central tie connecting Windsor's eastside with its westside. If headed to Boardwalk Park by way of the Poudre River Trail, take it to Eastman Park and then head north on 7th Street, using the on-street dedicated bike lanes that were repaved and restriped in 2021.

The #2 Ditch Trail is another east-towest connection that can be used as a way to get to Boardwalk Park on the Fourth of July. Thanks to a new section of trail that was completed near High Hops Brewery in the last two years, the #2 Ditch Trail extends from Colorado Blvd. all the way to Boardwalk Park.

WATER FUN ON THE 4TH!

Watercraft Holiday Rental Schedules Boardwalk Park Boat rentals will run on an extended schedule at Boardwalk Park during the holiday. Rentals will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Users are asked to be out of the water at Windsor Lake by 8 p.m. Rental prices vary. Eastman Park River Experience* Tube rentals at Eastman Park will be available during normal hours, which are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tubes can be rented for $15/day per tube and are available at the Eastman Park pavilion concession stand. This Fourth of July, make it a safe holiday...

DON'T FOOL WITH

FIREWORKS As with many other communities in Colorado, personal fireworks are prohibited within the Town of Windsor. Using anything that explodes or leaves the ground is not allowed and can result in a $525 fine.

More importantly, personal fireworks pose a serious fire and safety risk.

Even sparklers, which can burn anywhere from 1800°F to 3000°F—which is hot enough to melt gold—are dangerous, especially to children. While most people love fireworks, Windsor Police and Windsor Severance Fire Rescue ask that you leave them to the professionals.
