Roadway Improvements Underway in Three Major Corridors WARM DAYS BRING DELAYS
Road construction is a regular part of any infrastructure improvement plan. This summer, there are three roadway projects budgeted in the 2024 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) that are going to impact north-south travel in town.
Hardening improvements will make bicycle and pedestrian crossings safer and more permanent at the intersection of 7th St. and Walnut St. to make it more comfortable for all users. Construction includes installing a hardening diverter at the intersection and adding corner gateway improvements to the intersection of 7th St. and CO 392 (Main St.). Learn more at bit.ly/7thWalnut
Improvements include enhancing the town’s multimodal connectivity with the addition of new bicycle lanes, sidewalks, crossing opportunities, traffic calming and intersection upgrades along the corridor. In addition to roadway construction, there will be additional bike lane signage, pavement marking changes and raised medians. Stay updated at bit.ly/11thStMM
As the new Windsor Police Department and middle school near closer to completion, widening improvements are necessary along N. 15th St. (Weld County Rd. 15). Once the roadway is complete, residents will see that it’s been widened, with added bike lanes, and will be connected to the new Windsor Lake Rd. (WCR 70) extension between the new police facility and middle school. More information: bit.ly/N15thSt
LG Sonic Buoys Installed in Windsor Lake to Improve Water Quality
As one of several initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of local water bodies, Windsor Lake is now home to four LG Sonic MPCBuoys, which are designed to minimize the occurrence of harmful algae blooms. Using advanced sonar technology, the buoys eliminate the bacteria responsible for these blooms, causing the algae to sink to the lakebed where it dies off.
This eco-friendly solution poses no harm to humans, wildlife or the surrounding ecosystem; though boaters are advised to exercise caution when navigating the lake, paying close attention to signage and hazard buoys in the water.
