Arbor Day 5K Run/ Walk Easter Eggstravaganza

Eggs, eggs, and more eggs. Come join the Easter Bunny for the 9th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza. There will be open gym activities for you and your child to enjoy together along with a gigantic Easter egg hunt all around the Community Recreation Center, so bring your Easter basket! Easter egg hunt starts at 11:15am.

The hunt will be held outside if weather permits.

The Town of Windsor Tree Board will host the 10th Annual Arbor Day 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 18th. The race will start and finish at Boardwalk Park and follow the Windsor Lake Trail. Proceeds will go towards planting trees throughout the community. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Pre-register at the CRC or on race day beginning at 7am. Fee includes a t-shirt (while supplies last). Awards will be given to the top runners/walkers!

Each year, the Town of Windsor offers a great selection of trees to Windsor residents at discount prices. These trees grow well in the Windsor area and are to be planted within town limits (for clarification on residency, please check your property tax statement). Arbor Day Tree Sale

Student Advisory Leadership Team is a selfsustaining group made up of local middle school and high school students who want to make a difference in their community.

S.A.L.T. is credited with creating over a dozen safe activities a year for teens and the community. The goal is to provide fun, safe activities that students will want to participate in. S.A.L.T. holds meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 6pm, where new events are planned and ideas are discussed to better the community. The Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) hosts this Expo. $15 at the door grants you access to the show floor where exhibitors include lodges, retail stores, manufacturers, bookstores, non-profits and fly tiers. There are free casting demos, free fly tying demos, free destination theater presentations and free educational seminars. New this year is the Women’s Fly Fishing Showcase which will also be a free opportunity for customers.

We also feature $80 classes each day. Be sure to bring your own tying vise, tools and lamp for fly tying classes. Bring your own rod, reel and line for casting classes. Beginners are welcome but be prepared for more than basics. Classes fill quickly so be sure to call ahead to register in advance. An $80 fee is separate and on your own. Call 866-4812393. Snow Sculptures (Breckenridge) In Breckenridge each year, blank canvases of snow become works of art. From a whimsical bouquet of enormous flowers, to thought provoking abstract shapes, sculptors form these masterpieces before thousands of spectators over the course of five days in the heart of town. Artists from all over the world will come together to present intricate, aweinspiring snow sculptures. These artists will carve twenty-ton, 12-foot-tall blocks of snow into pieces of art using only their creativity, inspiration, own two hands and permitted hand tools. Infinite Monkey Theorem (Denver) Opened in 2008 in Denver, Colorado, The Infinite Monkey Theorem is an urban winery operated by one mad scientist working out of a back alley in the RiNo Art District of Denver. They buy the best grapes and make ridiculously good wine. When they started the winery, it was decided to focus on the variables that really mattered: using the best grapes, harvesting them at their peak, nurturing each batch of juice as it became wine, and getting to know the people who drink it. They also decided to get rid of the variables that don’t matter: the vineyard location, the rolling hills, and the tasting room covered in granite and marble. Travel back in time on a special behind the scenes tour of Denver’s historic Daniels & Fisher Tower. Built in 1911 as the focal point for the Daniels & Fisher Department Store, it endures as one of the most recognized icons of the city. On the guided tour, hear the story of this landmark and of those who built it to those who saved it from the Urban Renewal wrecking ball. Masters Swim Team Whether you are training for your first triathlon or Ironman, wanting a whole body workout that is easy on your joints, need to cross train, never learned how to swim, or need to get motivated to get in the pool, a faster, more efficient freestyle makes swimming much more fun and effective!!

Games consist of two 20 minute halves.

Players must be 18 years of age or older.

The league is designed for teams that have average skilled players. Players should not have college experience. High school experience is acceptable. Teams should not have more than two players over 6’4” tall.

This USSSA sanctioned league combines the interest of both men’s and coed softball teams in the community for friendly competition and sportsmanship. Number of teams per night is limited so register early!

A 4 class session for kids ages 3-5 using smaller nets and foam balls making the game of tennis more fun for this age group. Please bring your racquet if you have one, if not Kelly can provide them during the class.

A great way to introduce the game to kids or brush up on their tennis skills. The workshop will be filled tennis instruction by a certified tennis pro, Kelly Madson, and fun games to help kids learn more about the game of tennis. Will be held in the gym using smaller nets and softer tennis balls made just for kids. If you have a racquet please bring it, if not Kelly can provide one during the workshop.

Recreation Girls Softball Indian Peaks League Windsor Parks and Recreation girls ages 10 & under, 12 & under, and 14 & under, will participate in the Indian Peaks Girls Softball Association League (IPGSA). This ‘C’ level recreation league has been serving girls along the Northern Front Range for over 20 years by providing friendly fast pitch competition.

IPGSA teams can play in a tune-up tournament, play 10-to-12 league games, a round robin tournament, and can qualify for a post-season tournament. League season runs from May 1 - June 30. Coaches Certification Trainings NYSCA Parent Meetings Parents Assoc. for Youth Sports & Sport Specific Info. The PAYS program helps parents and youth leagues work together to provide the best possible sports experience for children. If you have previously attended the PAYS portion of the Parent Meeting, you do not need to attend again. Concussion training starts at 7pm.

This training educates parents about the signs and symptoms of concussions while emphasizing the seriousness of head injuries.

If you have attended the concussion training you are not required to attend again. The sport specific portion of the meeting starts at 7:30pm which covers season schedules, rules and more.

National Youth Sports Coaches Association

NYSCA training teaches coaches their responsibilities and holds them accountable to a strict code of conduct. It is mandatory for youth coaches to come to one of the scheduled meetings during the year! Coaches must stay for the entire two hours.

Located adjacent to Laku Lake Road, along the Poudre River Trail, south of Eastman Park.

Treasure Island Demonstration Garden (TIDG) is a partnership between the Town of Windsor and the DiGGers, a group of committed volunteer master gardeners. TIDG is a Plant Select® and vegetable demonstration garden. All food grown at the garden is donated to the Windsor Food Pantry. Reduced Fees

Eligible participants in our Reduced Fee Program can receive a discount off the registration fee. Applications are available at the Community Recreation Center or online at www.windsorgov.com. Please see page 26 for information.

After initial registration, a refund request is required in writing a minimum of five (5) days prior to the start of any class or program to receive a full refund unless otherwise noted. Four (4) days prior to the start date and through the first week of the session, 50% of the registration fee is refundable. No refunds or transfers will be allowed after the first week of the session unless circumstances, stated in writing, warrant consideration. Refund request forms are located at the Community Recreation Center or visit www.windsorgov.com.

Waiting lists are a source of contact and do not guarantee you will receive a call back. We will contact you only if a space becomes available.

Waiting lists for a closed class or sport provides us with a name and phone number in the event of a cancellation or if a new class is added. It does not limit you from registering for any other open class.

Minimums/Maximums:

Class sizes are limited to assure class quality and safety. Minimum participation numbers must be met or programs may be cancelled.

Team Selection:

The Parks, Recreation & Culture Department’s goal is to provide participants opportunities to form new friendships, and have a fun recreational atmosphere with teams as balanced as possible.

Special requests are not taken. Only the head coach and one assistant coach’s children are placed on teams together. Teams are randomly selected by computer or by assessments, separated by skill level, age or grade and gender if applicable.

Participants must recognize that all classes/ activities of a physical nature involve some risk and by registering for a class/activity of this nature, there is an assumption of risk by the participant. Every effort is made to ensure the safety of the participants and to provide them with first class recreational facilities, activities and parks.

In the event of a serious accident or illness, it is the policy of the Town of Windsor to: 1. Call 911 for emergency personnel for first aid.

2. Reach the parent or guardian as soon as the situation allows.

Each registration must have a waiver signed by either a parent or legal guardian.

Arbor Day Tree Sale

Each year, Windsor Forestry teams up with the Windsor Tree Board to help keep Windsor green!

There will be a great selection of trees that grow well in the area provided at a discounted price! Trees are available for Windsor residents to be planted within the town limits.
