2016 RARE & FINE WINE AUCTION FEATURED WINEMAKER: ROBIN DANIEL LAIL Robin grew up among the vineyards of Inglenook, founded in 1879 by her great-granduncle, Gustav Niebaum, who pioneered fine winemaking in the Napa Valley. Inglenook was passed down to Robin’s grandfather and then to her father, John Daniel Jr., a true innovator (he was the first to put ‘Napa Valley’ on his labels, and pioneered varietal labeling) and wine industry leader who produced legendary wines. While Robin was not curried to work in the wine business in her youth, she was surrounded by it, and touched by her dad’s passion and focus on tradition and excellence. In 1964, two years after Robin graduated from Stanford University, her father sold Inglenook. It was not until 1970 and her father’s death that she began shepherding the remaining estate vineyards. Seven years later she launched her vintner career as Robert Mondavi’s personal assistant, who became her mentor in the wine business. While at Robert Mondavi Winery, she directed the creation of the first Auction Napa Valley. In 1982 Robin co-founded Dominus with Christian Moueix, and in 1983 co-founded Merryvale Vineyards with Bill Harlan, where she served as president for twelve years. In the mid-nineties, Robin sold out of her partnerships with a vision of bringing her family’s exciting legacy into the 21st Century. Her dream of creating her own extraordinary wines set flight in 1995 when she and her two daughters, Erin and Shannon, set out on their own by launching Lail Vineyards. Today, the venture carries forth the stories and patina of over 135 years of winemaking in the Napa Valley. The family continues its passionate quest to produce legendary wines from the blend of its ingredients – the land, the seasons, the team, and the spirit of the generations who led the way. 4

follow through to a full, dense palate, but it’s very fine. The bead is so, so fine. The texture is like silk. Truly superb. I love the contrast between richness and freshness. It builds slowly on the palate and finishes so long and rich.

Full bodied, biscuity and round on the mid palate with plenty of depth. At the same time, the Champagne is light, focused and beautifully balanced. Fairly long finish. Joy in a bottle.

Penner-Ash Wine Cellars Tour and Tasting for Six and Signed Magnum of Willamette 2012 Pinot Noir In 2005 Lynn and Ron designed and built their sustainable, gravity-flow estate winery surrounded by estate vineyards, a building that seems to spring from the land itself and is a reflection of their values, spirit and winemaking philosophy. Over the years, Penner-Ash has achieved impressive growth, going from 125 cases of Pinot Noir in 1998 to 15,000 cases of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Viognier and Riesling in 2015.

Peter Michael 98-Pointers 1. ( 3 btls in a box) 2013 Peter Michael Winery Les Pavots Estate Red, Knights Valley, 750ml Rated 98+ by Robert Parker
Full-bodied and opulent, it shows loads of tannin, a hint of unsmoked cigar tobacco and plenty of black and blue fruits.
2. (3 btls) 2014 Peter Michael Winery Belle Cote Chardonnay, Sonoma County, 750ml Rated 98 by Robert Parker
The oldest Chardonnay vineyard Peter Michael uses is Belle Côte. The 2014 Chardonnay Belle Côte, from old Wente clones of Chardonnay planted in 1990, shows notes of créme brülée, orange marmalade, crushed rock and white peach. It has stunning richness, full-bodied intensity, and a long, long finish. There’s nothing that this winery does that is not admirable. Consider that they work with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, they produce world-class wines from all of these varietals, and they do it from Knight’s Valley and the Sonoma Coast.

Jeroboam (5L) 2005 Amuse Bouche Vin Perdu, Napa Valley Jeroboam (5L) Etched. 2005 Amuse Bouche Vin Perdu, Napa Valley 3-D Holographic Label. Signed by winemaker Heidi Barrett Beginning in 2005 and each year when the stars align, Vin Perdu is blended from scratch (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot). At liberty to create something unique and exceptional, using an astounding palette of ingredients, Heidi only produces Vin Perdu when she can craft a wine for which she can be proud. And so the very first of the series, the 2005 Vin Perdu is a work of art, inside and out. A true centerpiece for the cellar.

Dusty, mineral-accented aromas of lime, quince and lemongrass, with deeper pear and honeycomb notes in the background. Concentrated, clean and brisk, with restrained citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a slow-building iodine note. Very grown-up chardonnay with a long, mineraldrenched finish.

6. 2012 Anaba Chardonnay Dutton Ranch, 750ml Rated 94 by Robert Parker
The 2012 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch exhibits hazelnut and buttery citrus notes in the aromatics, and a saturated light gold color. This complex beauty is very French-like, although the purity and ripeness are clearly California. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
7. 2012 Anaba Chardonnay Sonoma Wente Clone Denmark, 750ml Rated 94 by Pinotfile
This was striking in every way. Aromas of lemon curd, butter brickle, poached pear and apple draw you into the glass. Delicious flavors of citrus, Granny Smith apple, peach and pear with a slight buttery tone. Very harmonious and bright, with perfectly engaged acidity. There is some stony minerality in this wine for want of a better description. The finish is silky and pleasing with a lasting impression of lemon créme. This wine reminds me of a very fine Meursault.
8. 2012 Sbragia Family Vineyards Gamble Ranch Vineyard Chardonnay, 750ml Rated 96 by Robert Parker
“…boasts a spectacular perfume of unbuttered popcorn, caramelized citrus, white peach and honey. This gorgeously textured, opulent, full-bodied chardonnay offers terrific freshness, precision and length.”
9. 2013 Blue Farm Chardonnay Laceroni Vineyard, 750ml Rated 90 by The Wine Advocate The 2013 Chardonnay Laceroni Vineyard reveals loads of lemon oil, tropical citrus, subtle oak, medium to full body and great acidity and depth. This is a beauty and should age nicely for 5-7 years.

2012 Schrader Beckstoffer Four Pack 1. (2btls) 2012 Schrader Cellars Beckstoffer La Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley Rated 95 by Robert Parker
This is deep, rich, full, backward and not quite as easy to access as its sibling, although at some point the Schraders and Thomas Brown thought these were the best barrels from Las Piedras. It seems to share much of its siblings opaque purple color, lots of coffee, blackberry and cassis fruit, charcoal and graphite, but seems to also require more bottle age to round into shape.

Sleek and well-structured, with a braid of exotic smoke, currant, green olive and herbal flavors that drape together nicely, holding a tight focus and showing how ripe, supple tannins can integrate without dominating. Finishes with a dash of mocha and spice. – 1995 California Cabernet retrospective.

9. 2012 Favia ‘Cerro Sur’, Napa Valley, 750ml Rated 97 by Robert Parker
Very harmonious, with tannins that are chewy and strong, yet the core of dark berry, crushed rock and cedar flavors works well with the potent if measured oak influence. Impressive on the finish, where the fruit and tannins merge.
10. 2012 McGah Family Cellars ‘Scarlett’ Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, 750ml Rated 95 by Robert Parker
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Scarlett Estate is the superstar of this trio. Winemaker Mike Smith has fashioned a beautiful Cabernet revealing lots of crème de cassis, cedarwood and spice box intermixed with a subtle hint of oak. Full-bodied as well as elegant, it reminds me of some of the great BV Private Reserves from the 1950s and 1960s. Multilayered with sweet tannin, this concentrated blockbuster is remarkably elegant and complex.

9. #9: 2012 Clos Fourtet, St.Emilion, 750ml Rated 94 by Wine Spectator
Gorgeous, with a pure, unadorned violet aroma giving way to very ripe and stylish plum, boysenberry and blackberry fruit. Offers a suave mouthfeel, with anise and tobacco hints filling the background. A finely stitched chalk note extends the finish. Not shy on depth, and sneakily long.
Rich and unctuous, yet superbly racy, this offers a gorgeous panoply of dried apricot, fig, mango and quince flavors, underscored by a lively blood orange note and backed by a long, ginger- and green tea—filled finish. Youthfully tight, this should cruise for some time in the cellar. Muscat de Frontignan.

In celebration of Schramsberg’s golden anniversary, this is a special, limited bottling of the 1999 J. Schram. With this beautifully aged offering, we honor Jack and Jamie Davies, Jacob and Annie Schram who founded the estate in 1862. With nearly 15 years of contact on the yeast, in the bottle, in our historic Diamond Mountain Caves, this sparkling wine has developed exquisite richness, depth and complexity. Extensive aging “en tirage” enables savory, nutty and seasoned attributes to evolve with fruitful caramelization, density and creaminess on the palate.
2. 1999 J. Schram LD 50th Anniversary, 750ml Rated 97 by Wine Enthusiast 3. 2012 J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon, 3L Rated 95 by The Wine Advocate
The Davies family, proprietors of Schramsberg Vineyards in Napa Valley, presents its 12th vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon produced from the historic Diamond Mountain vineyards they purchased in 1965 and replanted to Bordeaux varietals beginning in 1994. A beauty, with raspberry, blueberry and even blacker fruits, the wine has a lusciousness, with silky tannins and real charm. If Cháteaux Margaux made wine on Diamond Mountain it might well taste like this beauty. This is first-growth all the way: beautiful purity, symmetry, harmony and an ethereal lightness in spite of the richness and intensity.

1990 Giuseppe Quintarelli Recioto della Valpolicella Riserva Rated 98 by Antonio Galloni
I went back and forth as to which of the two Reciotos [’83 and ’90] but it was an impossible task as both wines were extraterrestrial…. The immortal [1990] Recioto flowed with the essence of rich cherries, violets, chocolate and minerals in a regal style fit for kings and queens.… incredibly rich, seamless and opulent, all while somehow staying light on its feet. The 1990 had a touch more depth than the 1983 Gran Riserva but perhaps a shade less overall complexity. No matter, both wines were profound. The torrone dessert was delicious, but in the end I chose to spend a few last contemplative moments with these two masterpieces from Giuseppe Quintarelli.
1992 Dalla Valle Maya Rated 100 by The Wine Advocate
It reveals a saturated purple color, as well as an intense fragrance of black-raspberries, cassis, flowers, and minerals. The wine possesses great fruit, superb density, wonderful purity and balance, and a compelling extra dimension both aromatically and texturally. It is destined to be one of California’s legendary wines.
1985 Dunn Howell Mountain Rated 96+ by Antonio Galloni
Dunn’s 1985 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a real bombshell. Dark, sensual and beautifully layered in the glass, the 1985 is one of the more voluptuous Dunn Cabernets of this era. Graphite, smoke, licorice and graphite add nuance, while silky tannins add to an overall impression of finesse. This is another dazzling wine from Randy Dunn. The 1985 will continue to provide thrilling drinking for another two decades. The 1985 rarely fails to deliver. On this night, it is pure magic.
2008 Sine Qua Non Grenache THE Line Rated 97+ by The Wine Advocate
The 2008 Grenache The Line explodes onto the palate with a rush of dark fruit, licorice and leather. It is a plush, muscular wine endowed with endless layers of flavor that build towards the multi-dimensional, eternal finish. I especially like the way the wine gains freshness and vibrancy as it sits in the glass. This is a striking, breathtaking wine from Sine Qua Non.
2009 M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Blanc Les Granits (Magnum) Rated 98 by The Wine Advocate
This 100% Marsanne cuvee exhibits an amazing honeyed, orange marmalade character intermixed with notions of crushed rocks, spring flowers, quince, and white currants. Full-bodied and unctuously textured yet remarkably fresh and vibrant, it should drink nicely for 15-20 years.
2012 Aubert Cix Estate Chardonnay Rated 99 by The Wine Advocate
The 2012 Chardonnay CIX Vineyard is one of the more focused wines in this range. There is plenty of Aubert richness in the glass, but the style is a bit more structured and broader on the palate, with a phenolic sense reminiscent of a red wine.
2007 Mas de Boislauzon Quet CDP Rated 100 by The Wine Advocate
Deep ruby. Sexy, expansive aromas of red and dark berry preserves, smoky herbs, potpourri and exotic apricot; the smoky character reminds me of the northern Rhone. Mineral-driven raspberry and blackcurrant flavors are alluringly sappy and open-knit, with notes of candied flowers and fruitcake adding complexity. This very sexy wine is extremely complex right now.
2013 Saxum Paderewski Vineyard Rated 99 by The Wine Advocate
Offers sensational notes of Bing cherries, blueberries, peppery herbs and lots of chalky minerality, full-bodied richness and a
sexy, seamless and ethereal texture that carries plenty of building tannin. I underlined “Awesome Texture” three times in my note.
2007 Clarendon Hills Astralis Rated 97 by The Wine Advocate
Glass-staining purple. Smoky, mineral-laced boysenberry and blueberry on the nose, with sexy oak spice and floral qualities coming up with air. Rich, fleshy and smooth, offering sappy dark fruit flavors and a wild array of floral and spice accents. For a rich wine this possesses uncanny balance. The endless, spice-accented finish features firm but harmonious tannins and leaves sweet vanilla, cola and dark berry liqueur notes behind.
2003 Pavie Rated 96 by The Wine Advocate
Dark ruby-red. Sexy aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry pie, woodsmoke, vanilla and flinty minerals. Then big, rich and suave in the mouth, with concentrated flavors of ripe dark and red cherry, blackcurrant, truffle and cocoa. The long finish features a licorice quality and smooth tannins. The cool limestone soils of Pavie Macquin really came through in the furnace-like conditions of 2003: although this is undoubtedly a very opulent, mouthfilling wine, it is also amazingly refined and suave for the year--anything but over the top.
2012 Lail Vineyards J Daniel Cuvee Rated 100 by The Wine Advocate
A ripe, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon John Daniel cuvée bursts from the glass with a rush of intense dark fruit. Spice and mocha overtones add nuance, but the 2012 is very much a wine of the vintage. A crescendo of intense, dark fruit builds to the round, explosive finish. The 2012 is undoubtedly striking.

Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in about three-fourths new French oak. Just under 1,000 cases are produced. The 2013 comes across like a Napa version of the famous Cháteau Montrose in Bordeaux’s St.-Estephe. Earthy notes intermixed with chocolate, blackcurrant liqueur; grilled meats and spice are all present in this opaque purple wine. Graphite and floral notes are also present. It is full-bodied and ripe with beautiful purity and superbly integrated acidity, alcohol, wood and tannin. This wine needs another 4-5 years, as it’s less dramatic and flamboyant compared to the 2012. It should evolve and age beautifully for 30+ years.

1. 2012 J. Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon, 3L Rated 100 by Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Absolutely perfect and one of the monumental wines of my long tasting trip in Napa is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvée. I didn’t see this from barrel last year. Aged 20 months in 75% new French oak and representing 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from three vineyard sources: one in Calistoga, one in Oakville and one in Howell Mountain. Robin Lail and winemaker Philippe Melka hit pay dirt with a wine that has an inky purple color, an almost amazing bouquet that reminded me of 1989 Chateau Montrose when it was young. Sweet almost truffle-infused earth, graphite, forest floor, blackcurrant and black cherry notes are followed by a full-bodied wine with a hint of mocha and licorice. Superb purity, an incremental, yet full-bodied mouthfeel, and an extravagant, layered texture and finish make for the finest wine Robin Lail has produced to date at her winery. Drink it over the next 25-35 years.
2. 2013 J. Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon, 3L Rated 99+ by Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvée is probably the qualitative equivalent of the 2012, but slightly more backward and coiled tight. Coming from three vineyards that Robin Lail uses in Napa Valley: one in Calistoga, one in Oakville and the other on Howell Mountain. This is 100%

1959 Domaines Barons de Rothschild Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac 1959 Domaines Barons de Rothschild Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, 750ml Rated 99 by Robert Parker
The 1959 is unquestionably the greatest Lafite-Rothschild that has approached full maturity. It remains to be seen whether vintages such as 1982, 1986, and 1990 will reach a similar height. The super-aromatic bouquet of flowers, black truffles, cedar, lead pencil, and red fruits is followed by one of the most powerful and concentrated Lafites I have tasted. Medium to full-bodied, velvetytextured, rich, and pure, it is a testament to what this great estate can achieve when it hits the mark. Drink until 2024.

This is about as alluring as it gets aromatically, with singed alder, juniper, bay and charcoal notes out front, hinting at power but turning beguiling as they flow into the core of steeped red currant and black tea.

Sine Qua Non 1. 1999 Sine Qua Non The Marauder Syrah, Central Coast, 750ml Rated 95 by Robert Parker
The outrageously rich ‘Marauder’ (100% Syrah) is tightly structured but crammed with blackberry and cassis fruit infused with subtle notes of camphor and licorice. Full and rich, it is a candidate for graceful evolution to 2020.
Wine List: 1996 Henriot “Cuvée Enchanteleurs” (Magnum) Rated 97 by Wine Spectator
“... an immediate impression of the sea, before forest floor and citrus.”
2005 Vinos de Benjamin Romeo/Bodega Contador, Contador Rioja Rated 100 by Robert Parker
Opaque purple/black, it has a great brooding nose of crushed stone, truffle, pencil lead, black cherry, and blackberry. Rich, layered, and opulent, on the palate the wine is dense, thick, and tightly wound. Impressively long...

2010 Marcassin Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard Rated 98 by The Wine Advocate
3. 2007 Sine Qua Non Pictures Grenache, Central Coast, 750ml Rated 97 by Robert Parker
2009 Foreau Domaine du Clos Naudin Vouvray Moelleux Réserve Rated 97 by The Wine Advocate
The 2006 ‘Raven’ Series Syrah spent just under two years in French oak. Offering a desnse purple color, gorgeous fruit, and a sweet perfume of graphite, blackberries, blueberries, charcoal, licorice, tar and new oak, it is a dense full bodied, well-endowed, beautifully layered Syrah that should drink well to 2024.
The 2007 ‘Pictures’ Grenache has wonderful floral notes intermixed with black raspberries, black cherries, licorice, graphite and some camphor. In the mouth, white chocolate notes appear, along with meatiness and some silky tannins. Its great purity, density and richness make me think this wine might flirt with perfection. This stunning wine should drink nicely to 2026.
Donated by: Janet & Jack Roberts Estimated Value: $1,750
Crushed flowers, herbs, dried cherries, tobacco and anise abound in the 2010 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard. I am a bit surprised by how forward the flavors are. A distinctly floral/savory character dominates, while fruit expression, freshness and textural richness are much less evident. It’s hard to see the 2010 drinking well for more than a handful of years based on the bottle I tasted.
The golden yellow 2009 Vouvray Moelleux offers an awesome rich bouquet of a full basket of super ripe white and yellowfleshed fruits with pure and mineral highlighted aromas as well as colored blossoms, yellow paprika, ginger, coriander, white pepper, toasted peanuts and speck. Bottled with 80 grams of residual sugar, this is a full-bodied, complex, and very elegant almost perfect moelleux à la Foreau, a really rich, ripe, sweet and perfectly balanced wine of great finesse and a persistent freshness due to the lingering salinity and piquancy.
2009 Mollydooker Velvet Glove Shiraz Rated 97 by The Wine Advocate

with accents of licorice and toast, marmite and blueberry pie. Very spicy, rich and full-bodied in the mouth, it has a bright acid line, medium-firm, grainy tannins and a long and voluptuous length on the finish.
2008 Bond Vecina Rated 95 by The Wine Advocate
The 2008 Vecina is a huge, strapping wine bursting with dark fruit, leather, licorice, smoke, minerals and tar. It possesses striking mid-palate depth and more than enough fruit to stand up to the firm, imposing tannins. Iron, graphite, smoke and minerals are layered into the dark, brooding finish. This is an impressive showing.
2007 Mas de Boislauzon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée du Quet Rated 100 by Wine Advocate Deep ruby.
2006 Tenuta dell’Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia Rated 97 by The Wine Advocate
The 2006 Ornellaia flows from the glass in a profound expression of ripe, dark fruit. With time in the glass layers of minerals, cassis, tar, sweet herbs and French oak emerge, adding further complexity. This harmonious Ornellaia combines the richness of the vintage with superb freshness and awesome balance. Today the wine’s sheer density almost manages to hide the tannins, but they are there, and the wine will ultimately benefit from a few years in the cellar. The 2006 Ornellaia is one of the highlights of this sensational Tuscan vintage.
Daniel Cuvée will thrill readers who enjoy big wines. Chocolate, mocha, cloves and new leather are all pushed forward in a fullthrottle, unapologetically rich wine.
2013 Lail Vineyards Georgia Sauvignon Blanc Rated 94 by The Wine Advocate
Lail’s 2013 Sauvignon Blanc Georgia shows its typical textural breadth and richness, but the flavors have an extra kick of brightness in this vintage that is quite welcome. White flowers, sage, mint and a host of varietal notes inform the expressive, intense finish. The 2013 is shaping up to be a real beauty.

2003 Clarendon Hills Astralis Vineyard Rated 99 by The Wine Advocate
Opaque ruby with a violet rim. Full-throttle, liqueur-like aromas of raspberry, black cherry, blueberry, mocha, coffee, violet, licorice pastille and exotic Asian spices. Dense and thick yet fresh, exuberant and high-toned in flavor, showing every imaginable berry note and an impressively deep, velvety texture. Finishes bright, pure, fresh and very long, with fully buffered tannins and exotic, sexy oak spices lingering.
2006 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rated 97 by Antonio Galloni
The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is striking, especially in the way it brings together elements of ripeness and freshness in a hypothetical blend of the 2002 and 2004. Smooth and creamy on the palate, the 2006 is all about texture. There is a real feeling of density and weight in the 2006, qualities I expect to see grow with time in the bottle. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 2006 has been nothing short of magnificent both times I have tasted it.

6. 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Mocali, 750ml Rated 94 by Wine Spectator
The quality and power of the vintage is immediately evident in Mocali’s 2010 Brunello di Montalcino. Black cherry, pressed roses, wet earth and cigar box are important components of the forthcoming and generous bouquet. The wine is compact and tight at first, but it fleshes out nicely on the palate to reveal very attractive textural richness.
7. 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Pietranera, 750ml Rated 93 by James Suckling
8. 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio Salvi, 750ml Rated 94 by Wine Enthusiast

11. 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta di Sesta, 750ml Rated 95 by James Suckling
The elegant 2010 Brunello di Montalcino shows an impressive degree of inner grace and harmony. This wine expresses itself articulately with the softest tones. No part of its message is too loud. In fact, it whispers seductively with small fruit aromas, forest bramble, root beer, dried herb and balsam notes. The effect is feminine and finessed. Polished tannins make way for fresh acidity and long persistency.
12. 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Varco Molino Sant Antimo, 750ml Rated 93 by James Suckling
The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Paolus is a tight and streamlined expression of Sangiovese with ethereal tones of spice, licorice, dried cherry, root beer, rosemary oil and crushed mineral.

One of the more flamboyant and sumptuous wines of the vintage, this inky/purple-colored St.-Julien reveals thrilling levels of opulence, richness and aromatic pleasures. A soaring bouquet of creme de cassis, charcoal, graphite and spring flowers is followed by a super-concentrated wine with silky tannins, stunning amounts of glycerin, a voluptuous, multilayered mouthfeel and nearly 14% natural alcohol. Displaying fabulous definition for such a big, plump, massive, concentrated effort, I suspect the tannin levels are high even though they are largely concealed by lavish amounts of fruit, glycerin and extract.

4. 2004 La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904, 1500ml Rated 96 by The Wine Advocate
“…from a superb vintage shows...a superb nose redolent of balsamic woods, spices, leather, well-hung meat, incense and truffles. 5. 2009 Chateau Giscours, Margaux, 750ml Rated 94 by Robert Parker
The finest Giscours in my professional career (I said the same thing from barrel), this dense purple wine has a stunning nose of burning embers, charcoal, creme de cassis, new saddle leather and damp, forest floor notes. It is full-bodied, with exceptionally sweet, well-integrated tannins and a multidimensional, almost skyscraper-like mid-palate and finish. With its low acidity and remarkable substance and depth, this gorgeous wine should age beautifully for 20-30 years.
6. 2009 Chateau Lascombes, Margaux, 750ml Rated 94 by Robert Parker
The wine has a beautiful blueberry-scented nose with hints of acacia flowers, licorice, graphite and some subtle charcoal and background oak. Clearly a modern style of Margaux, it is pure, seamless, full-bodied and opulent, and the high glycerin and silky texture of 2009 are brilliantly displayed in this wine.

With supple, firm tannins, this wine has the austerity of the vintage but the flavours are soft and round with no harshness/ rough edges. Moderate length, quite austere/restrained right now.
9. 2012 Chateau Cap de Mourlin, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, 750ml Rated 92 by The Wine Advocate
Intense hue with dark purple tints. Racy nose of plum and black berry fruits with refined spice and elegant toasted oak undertones. Beautiful suave, full and rich mouthfeel with aromas that are still fairly shy. Robust structure. Boasts potential. (19-Mar-2015) Gilbert & Gaillard.

2. 2000 W. & J. Graham’s Vintage Porto, 375ml Rated 98 by Wine Spectator
Smells like freshly picked orchids, with loads of ripe, clean fruit. Full-bodied, medium sweet and very powerful and racy. It lasts for minutes on your palate. Yet there’s a balance and class to this young Vintage Port. This is the greatest glass of Graham I have ever tasted...
3. 2005 Chateau Rieussec, Sauternes, 750ml Rated 96 by Robert Parker

4. 2009 Dolce Late Harvest Semillon - Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, 750ml Rated 92 by Cellar Tracker Aromas of apricot, poached pear and orange rind dominate the more subtle clove and mineral notes. The flavors mimic the aromas on the nose, melding with a mouthwatering texture and added notes of juicy orange and citrus blossom.

8. 2011 Chateau Rieussec, Sauternes, France, 375ml Rated 97 by James Suckling
Intense, with ginger, yellow apple chutney, dried pineapple and papaya flavors coursing through a finish that brims with singed almond and lemon chiffon flavors. This retains a touch of youthful rawness, featuring a bitter orange note that’s yet to be absorbed. No need to rush or worry here.
9. 2011 Kracher Trockenbeerenauslese Burgenland Grande Cuveé Nouvelle Vague No. 6, 375ml Rated 95 by Wine Spectator
Vibrant and lush...pure flavors of ripe pineapple, melon, apple pastry and dried apricot...a rich yet fresh finish of buttercream and white chocolate.
10. 2012 Mauritson Port Independence Rockpile, 375ml
Crushed berry fruit is abundant in the nose, complemented by intricate flavors of fresh-cut flowers, cotton candy and oak spice. Chocolate-covered cherries dominate the palate, with rich notes of coffee and vanilla on the periphery. The entry is lush and broad, without any sharp edges, but you can tell that structured tannins lay just below the surface. Notes of licorice and nutmeg add to the incredible complexity of this wine. The finish shows the balance of the vintage: beautiful acid intertwined with fine grained tannins. While this wine is more than enjoyable now, it will benefit from a year or two in the cellar and age gracefully for the next 10-20 years.
9. NV Anaba White Port Viognier, 375ml
This medium-to full-bodied port-style dessert wine begins with wonderful aromas of geranium, orange blossoms, white peach and lychee fruit. 3. 2006 Le Ragose Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, Veneto, 750ml Rated 92 by Antonio Galloni
The 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is slightly muddled at first, but give it a few minutes and this wine opens to pretty aromas of dark prune, wet earth, leather, dried fruit and black cherry. There’s a pretty note of sweet cherry on the close and this aged Amarone delivers an immediate and approachable drinking style.

8. 2010 Masi Costasera, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, 750ml 9. 2010 Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, 750ml Rated 93 by The Wine Advocate
The 2010 impresses for its harmony, staying power and elegance. Wines made from air-dried grapes like Amarone can sometime feel overdone and overtly jammy. But this wine, made from a balanced vintage, allows the quality of fruit to rise above all the rest. The bouquet opens to dard fruit, prune, resin, cola and tar. A pretty note of oregano or rosemary gives it an Italian or Mediterranean personality.

(12btls) 2013 Domaine Lafage Bastide Miraflores Vielles Vignes Cotes Catalanesss, 750ml Rated 93 by Robert Parker “...one of the greatest red wine values I have tasted in the last year or so. An inky/blue/purple-colored wine offering a big, sweet bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, acacia flowers, pepper and spice. This full-bodied, opulent, majestic dry red unleashes tremendous ripeness, richness and intensity. One would normally think such a superb, remarkable wine would cost over $50 a bottle...
