Champagne & Espumosos Champagne Bollinger

Special Cuvee Brut NV

93 | Wine Spectator Very elegant and refined in texture, with fresh, focused acidity finding fine integration with the layered notes of patisserie apple, black currant, smoky mineral and biscuit, complimented by hints of lemon zest and honey. Lingering finish. Drink now through 2020. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 92 | Wine & Spirits Richness is all in this latest release of Special Cuvée, a complex and supple blend based on red grapes (60 percent pinot noir and 15 percent meunier with the balance in chardonnay). Structured by reserve wines aged in magnum bottles, this wine’s texture unfolds with layers of flavor, from subtle Marcona almond to dark-toned apricot and brighter lemon. It’s creamy, saturated and delicious, balanced for current drinking and built to age. 91 | Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate The NV Brut Special Cuvee is fabulous. Hints of pears, pastry crust and hazelnut lead to an expansive core of fruit. There is plenty of the signature Bollinger oxidative style in this rich, enveloping Champagne. Once again the Special Cuvee is one of the best Champagnes in its price range. This is Lot L114501. Disgorged April 26, 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. 90 | Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Vivid yellow. Poached pear, singed orange and buttered toast on the fragrant nose. Broad and fleshy, with very good depth to its ripe orchard fruit and honey flavors. A zesty note of citrus pith adds lift and a refreshingly bitter edge to the long, gently toasty finish. This hefty Champagne would probably be better with rich foods than by itself, at least to my taste.

Champagne Bollinger

Rosé Brut NV

96 | Australian Wine Companion First released in 2008, it is in fact almost identical to the Special Cuvee with the addition of 5% deeply coloured pinot noir table wine made from grapes grown in Ay and Verzenay. This blend of ’06 and ’07 base wines was tiraged in ’07; it is still bright salmon-pink, and enters the mouth with almost juicy red berry fruit flavours before changing stride into spice and fruit paste, finishing with an almost toasty, savoury finish. Lovely wine. 93 | Wine Spectator There’s a briny, mineral-tinged waft of seashore adding complexity to flavors of black cherry, grilled plum, pastry, graphite and almond cream in this vibrant rose, which offers mouthwatering acidity and finely detailed texture. Drink now through 2020. 92 | Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Pale, bright pink. Expressive aromas of fresh red berries, tangerine and toasty lees, with a suave floral nuance. Deeply pitched but quite energetic, offering pure strawberry and cherry preserve flavors underscored by zesty citrus and mineral notes. Becomes richer and smokier with air and finishes with excellent clarity, thrust and persistence. For such a powerful wine this Champagne is impressively lithe and incisive. 92 | Wine & Spirits Red berry flavors lend this wine its mouthwatering fruit sweetness. While it may seem simple at first, spend some

-7-

Champagne & Espumosos time with it and the clean sparkle along with the brightness and tightness of the structure begin to make a stronger, savory impression. 91 | The Wine Advocate The NV Brut Rose is a gorgeous wine laced with berries, flowers and chalk, all of which are woven together in a fabric of unusual class. The NV naturally doesn’t have the weight and gravitas of the 2002 Rose La Grande Annee tasted alongside it, but it nevertheless shows striking purity and class in a more accessible, fresh style. It is another terrific effort from Bollinger. The NV Brut Rose is 62% Pinot Noir (of which 6% is still Pinot), 24% Chardonnay and 14% Pinot Meunier. This is Lot L819801. Disgorged May 30, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015

Celler Gramona Argent Blanc CAVA Reserva Brut Nature 2007 100% Chardonnay.Full ripeness in the nose, intense and dynamic. White, stone fruites and a flower bouquet with fresh herbs accents adorned with notes of baker’s custard, puff pastry and toasted flavors. Full bodied but very fluid. Finishes very elegantly, in the superbly elegant style that has placed Celler Gramona at the top of CAVA producers.

Celler Gramona III Lustros CAVA Gran Reserva Brut Nature 2004 94 | Neal Martin, Wine Advocate At Gramona, detail is everything, pruning according to lunar phases, manual picking, riddling by hand, aging bottles under cork rather than crown cap and using 100-year Solera wines aged in chestnut and oak barrels for dosage. So let us examine what is unquestionably the most impressive portfolio of Cavas money can buy. The 2004 Ill Lustros Gran Reserva Brut Nature (disgorged mid-2011) is vinified identically to the 2005 and has a more generous but perhaps less animated bouquet with hints of lanolin and dried honey underneath the patina of crisp citric fruit. The palate is very well-defined on the entry with lime zest, granite, a touch of orange rind and apricot. The long, very precise finish has more persistency than the 2005, with tantalizing orange sorbet lingering in the mouth. Superb. Drink now-2018+ J Vineyards J Brut Rose Russian River NV 90 | Wine Spectator Wonderful richness, complexity and depth, built around a core of spicy black cherry and Pinot Noir fruit. A pleasant earthy-hazelnut flavor adds intrigue and the texture is smooth and polished, ending with a creamy mouthfeel.

Vigna Dogarina Oro Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore NV The vineyards of Azienda Agricola Vigna Dogarina, are mainly the Prosecco DOC Treviso and Piave Doc and, partly, Prosecco Conegliano and Valdobbiadene DOCG. The farm has always placed utmost care in making the most of the autochthonous vines such as Prosecco, Carmenére, Raboso del Piave and also the less renown and historical Manzoni Bianco 6.0.13, originated in the province of Treviso from the cross between Riesling Renano and Pinot Bianco and devoted to Prof. Luigi Manzoni, head of the famed Scuola Enologica di Conegliano. Modern and dynamic, the farm of the Tonus family was born in the middle of the 70s and is now a jewel in the heart of the Veneto landscape, between Treviso and Venice by the river Piave. In the hundred hectares vineyards and more, the farm produces elegant wines with character, that are the result of the land that nurtures them: the so-called caranto, a hard and clayey soil, rich in calcium and magnesium, that conveys wines sapidity, elegance and structure.

Blancos Heitz Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2010

Winery Notes: Our 2010 Sauvignon Blanc is refeshingly zesty from its shimmering pale hue through its lingering finish. Brisk varietal aroma is followed by an exciting mix of citrus flavors, rounded on the palate with back notes of tropical fruit.

Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc California 2011

92 | California Grapevine Light yellow color; attractive, assertive, floral, complex, citrus, kiwi, and white peach aroma with light hints of lemongrass and juniper; medium to medium-full body; elegant, citrus and melon flavors with a silky mouthfeel, though tending to be a bit tight on the crisp, slightly tart finish; lingering aftertaste. Should continue to develop with another year or two of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. Sold primarily to their mailing list customers and select restaurants. 14.1% alcohol; 2,830 cases; 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Sauvignon Musque; partial barrel fermentation; 0% malolactic fermentation; released July 2012. (Oct 2012) 91 | Connoisseurs’ Guide There is no mistaking its intense smells of fresh grass and citrus for anything other than Sauvignon Blanc, and, if perhaps a little too much of a good thing for some, this fully expressed wine will win favor with fans of the style. It leans to limes and green tea in taste and shows a minerally edge after an early burst of sweet fruit, and, if a little too rich for service with oysters, it has the cleansing, acid-edged finish to work with a wide range of flavorful seafoods. (Aug 2012) Winery Notes A blend of Sauvignon Blanc (65%) and Sauvignon Musque (35%). 55% Napa Valley, 45% Sonoma Mountain. 2011 was a very mild growing season, where the fruit was able to attain great maturity under near ideal conditions. This wine has great length and texture that is backed up by a wonderful, succulent, fresh acidity. It has strong characteristics of white peach, key lime, grapefruit and melon with hints of grass, crème brûlée, and flint. Beautifully balanced and extremely enjoyable!

Far Niente Chardonnay Napa Valley 2010

Winery Notes: Far Niente Chardonnay has earned its reputation as one of the great white wines worthy of aging. The grapes are hand picked from the various estate vineyards and then hand sorted at the winery. Shortly after starting fermentation in stainless tanks, the must is racked into a high percentage of new French oak barrels. To assure proper development, the barrels are topped biweekly, allowing our wine to age gracefully on its yeast lees for eight months. The winemaker evaluates each barrel for quality and style before it may be included in the blend. This wine is a classic Far Niente Chard, with a full, firm structure, lush roundness, intense fruit and spicy oak. Enjoy it now or let it continue to age and develop in your cellar for 5 or more years.

El Molino Chardonnay Rutherford 2009

Winery Notes: Due in part to the wide picking window of the vintage, the aromatics are some of the most complex we have seen in some time. At first the nose is very mineral with wet wool and green apple. With are more tropical notes of honey, white peach and acacia flowers come forth supported by lime leaf and quinine The palate is dense but taut with bright acidity, medium weight viscosity and exceptional length.

Grgich Hills Estate Fumé Blanc Napa Valley 2010 93 | Wine & Spirits

-9-

Blancos Farmed under biodynamics at Grgich’s American Canyon and Carneros estate vineyards, this wine has the intensity of flavor that fruit can give at the peak of ripeness. The depth of that fruit flavor ranges from a tart pear skin to kumquat, both brisk and resonant. Its underlying earthinessparallels the structure of a classic Loire chenin: a sauvignon that’s refreshing with river fish and big enough for foie gras. 90 | International Wine Cellar Bright, pale yellow. Bracing, slightly raw aromas of lemon peel, grapefruit and pepper. Then surprisingly supple following the nose, with a dense, tactile lemony flavor intensified by sound acidity. Vibrant, very dry and delicate sauvignon blanc with excellent length.

Stags Leap Wine Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley 2009

Classical techniques make a style of Chardonnay that focuses the varietal apple, pear and citrus fruit aromas and flavors, allows full development of supportive tannis and adds layers of subtle-but-enhancing oak and nutty-lees characteristics. Winery Notes: Aromas of honeysuckle following through to flavors of green apple and orange peel on the palate are characteristic of Stags’ Leap Chardonnay. The mid-palate is round with a creamy mouthfeel from aging on the lees and the finish has length that is complex yet crisp and balanced.

Kosher Royal Wine Company Baron Herzog Pinot Grigio California 2010

Our new Pinot Grigio from Clarksburg is classic in style with a perfect balance of acidity and incredible aromas. It has wonderful perfume and minerals on the nose, followed by ripe pear, apple and tropical fruit notes. Light in body with a clean and elegant finish, this wine is perfect for summertime sipping, or as an accompaniment to cheese plates or light pasta dishes. Serve chilled.

Royal Wine Company Baron Herzog Chardonnay Central Coast 2008

This Chardonnay was barrel and stainless steel fermented and then aged in French and American Oak for 15 months. This cool, terroir-oriented wine shows elegant top notes of lime, chamomile and tropical fruit overlaid with a bouquet of toasty oak.

Royal Wine Company Baron Herzog Merlot Central Coast 2009

This soft and approachable Merlot is fruit-forward, with distinct strawberry jam and berry aromas. Well-integrated tannins and a medium body are smoothly offset by balancing acidity. These central coast Merlot grapes are carefully selected to produce a wine with aromas of red cherries, strawberry jam, and spice, with a rich mouth feel and finish.

Royal Wine Company Baron Herzog Cabernet Sauvignon Central Coast 2009

The grapes for this very approachable Cabernet Sauvignon come mainly from the highly regarded Paso Robles appellation. Aged for 18 months in stainless steel to highlight its berry and plum notes, it finishes with fruity blackberry and spice flavors. It is light in the mouth with food-friendly acidity and tannin.

Royal Wine Company Kedem Concord New York NV

Traditional Concord wine made by Kedem, a division of Royal Wine Company.

Tintos de Argentina Finca La Luz Serie Gran Reserva 2008

Finca La Luz Callejon del Crimen Malbec Gran Reserva Mendoza 2008

92 | Robert Parker The 2008 Callejon del Crimen Malbec Gran Reserva exhibits a similar personality with loads of black cherry fruit and a sense of elegance. It, too, will evolve for several years and drink well through 2023. The Finca La Luz wines, each 100% varietal, are outstanding.

Finca La Luz Callejon del Crimen Sangiovese Gran Reserva Mendoza 2008

90 | Robert Parker The 2008 Callejon del Crimen Sangiovese Gran Reserva, just by the nature of its varietal, is a more restrained offering. Smoky cherries and spice notes lead to a medium-bodied, savory Sangiovese with excellent depth and length. It should drink well for another 6-8 years. The Finca La Luz wines, each 100% varietal, are outstanding.

Finca La Luz Callejon del Crimen Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon Mendoza 2008

91 | Robert Parker The 2008 Callejon del Crimen Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva sports an enticing bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, violets, cassis, and black currant. In the glass it is medium-bodied with a Bordeaux-like personality, good depth of flavor, impeccable balance, and 3-4 years of aging potential. Drink this outstanding (and nicely priced) effort from 2014 to 2023. The Finca La Luz wines, each 100% varietal, are outstanding. Pulenta Estates Series Grandes Vinos 2008

Pulenta Estates Gran Corte Mendoza 2008

93 | Robert Parker The 2008 Gran Corte is composed of 43% Malbec, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Merlot and Petit Verdot fermented and raised in French oak. Notions of sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, espresso, black cherry and blackberry lead to an incipiently complex, plush, layered wine with outstanding grip and volume. It conceals enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and offers a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2023, perhaps longer.

Pulenta Estate Gran Malbec Mendoza 2008

91 | Wine Enthusiast Tight and deep, with leather, dried cheese and full berry aromas. The palate is jammy and lush in feel, with roasted, mile-deep berry and licorice flavors. A fine Malbec that’s easy to drink and black in style; the finish runs long and solid as berry fruit and toasty oak hold court.

Pulenta Estates Gran Cabernet Franc Mendoza 2008

Simon Field | Master of Wine 100% Cabernet Franc from the precipitous and wonderfully picturesque vineyards (perched at 980 metres above sea-level) of Alto Agrelo in the famous Mendoza region of Argentina. The wine is aged for 12 months in new French barrels after a lengthy maceration. Beyond and beneath an impressive purple colour and ripe hedgerow aromas, the wine fascinates on the palate, with a distant evocation of the Loire Valley (courtesy of this elegant varietal) but with a New World twist. Very fine tannins hold the structure together with great elegance.

- 11 -

Tintos de Francia Chateau La Lagune La Lagune 2007 90 | Robert Parker Another brilliant effort from the Frey family, the 2007 La Lagune reveals a beautiful layered mouthfeel with lots of plum, black cherry, and kirsch liqueur-like notes intermixed with a spicy character. Medium-bodied, broad, and savory with beautiful purity and overall equilibrium, this beauty should be drunk over the next 7-8 years.

Chateau Teyssier Château Teyssier St Emilion 2007 87 | Robert Parker Fresh, medium-bodied, earthy flavors redolent of notes of cherries, black currants, and loamy soil emerge from this elegant, charming, round 2007. Maturity: 2010 - 2017

Joseph Drouhin Pommard Borgogne 2009 Winery Notes: A great Burgundy, worthy of its reputation. An intense, bright, red color; a powerful nose, with notes of black cherry and spice, evolving towards aromas of young leather. On the palate, the tannins give a certain impression of firmness, somewhat softened by a nice, harmonious texture. Persistent flavors in the aftertaste. 91 | Wine & Spirits This harnesses the power of the 2009 vintage in grace rather than excessive ripeness. Right from the beautiful aroma, this has the mushroom-crossed-with-raspberry fla- v or that makes a young Burgundy so lovely. It’s a refined Pommard with the strength to lift foods far beyond it’s own weight—a wine for drinking.

Joseph Drouhin Volnay Borgogne 2009 Winery Notes: A wine of great elegance with a vivid and bright colour. When the wine is young, the aromas are reminiscent of violet and black currant. With age, the aromas take on notes of ripe or candied fruit, mushroom and mild spices. On the palate, a pleasant sensation of roundness and velvety texture. Long aftertaste, with touches of candied fruit and vanilla.

Paul Jaboulet Chateauneuf du Pape Les Cedres 2007 Winery Notes: Complex, intense notes of macerated red berries, blended with sweet spices and a final hint of garrigue. Powerful and warm attack, with a spicy, hot finish. The Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Les Cedres is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, SYrah and Mourvedre. Maceration and fermentation are completed at cool temperatures and typically last over three weeks. The wine is aged for 12 months in a combination of new and used oak barrels.

Paul Jaboulet Crozes Hermitage Thalabert 2006

91 | Stephen Tanzer Inky purple. Suave raspberry and blackberry aromas complicated by subtle cured meat and olive qualities. Brighter red fruits on the palate, especially raspberry, with silky tannins adding structure. Impressively elegant, fresh and incisive. This is really graceful.

- 12 -

Tintos de Italia Isole e Olena Chianti Classico 2008

91 | International Wine Cellar (a blend of 80% sangiovese, 15% canaiolo nero and 5% syrah; aged for one year in tonneaux and barriques, 15% new; 14.5% alcohol) Good medium red. Enticing aromas of red cherry, violet, red rose and cinnamon. Very fresh and light on its feet, with pure, perfumed flavors of red cherry, rose and tobacco. Finishes wonderfully long, smooth and minerally. This perfumed wine really reminded me of nebbiolo!

Speri Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Sant ‘Urbano 2007

91 | Wine Spectator With a smoky undercurrent and flavors of fig compote, grilled plum and black currant preserves, this red is balanced and expressive. Integrates fine-grained tannins and intriguing accents of bresaola, violet, ground anise and white pepper notes. Mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2022. 91 | International Wine Cellar Deep ruby. Aromas of black cherry, smoked beef and camphor are enlivened by a grapey note. Then smooth, suave and long, with dark fruit and herb flavors carrying through a multilayered, complex finish. The mounting tannins call for food, though, and leave an impression of austerity.

Tenuta Vitanza Rosso di Montalcino 2008

90 | Wine Enthusiast this is a plump, succulent and sophisticated Rosso di Montalcino that boasts many of the beautiful characteristics of its big brother, Brunello. The tannins are tight and firm and there’s a pleasant level of acidity that helps pair the wine to cheese-based pasta dishes.

Tenuta Vitanza Brunello di Montalcino 2006

93 | Wine Enthusiast Thick and dark, with generous fruit, spice, leather and tobacco. This is a wine that does not hold back from an aromatic point of view. Mouthfeel is tight, firm and ends with polished tannins. 93 | Wine Spectator Lively and delicate, offering cherry, raspberry, floral and spice flavors, with touches of chocolate and mineral. Offers fine balance and harmony, but also well-structured, with a sweet, spicy finish. Best from 2013 through 2025.

Denisse Ojeda

Tintos de España Melis Forment de Vinyes Priorat 2005

92 | Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Ruby red. Bright raspberry, kirsch- and mineral-dominated bouquet is jazzed up by incense, floral oil and Asian spices. Seductively sweet and pliant, with deep red and blue fruit liqueur flavors and supple tannins. Clings tenaciously on the strikingly long, silky finish, with the floral qualities echoing. 92 | Wine Enthusaist Melis is a project backed by industry folks from California (Silverado among them), but this blend of old-vines Grenache along with Carignan, Syrah and Caberenet Sauvignon is very European. It’s heady but well balanced, with smooth edges and not too much fiery attitude, roughness or scratchy tannins. It’s forward and big-boned, but there’s enough creamy richness to make it friendly. Needs plenty of air time now; should hold well for five-plus years. 91 | Wine & Sprits Balanced at the heights of superripeness, this wine tastes of figs and chestnuts, of the warmnth of alcohol and the wild stoniness of Priorat tannin. It’s massive and strong, set to match something equally powerful, sucah as wild boar roasted with dried fruit.

Espectacle del Montant Montsant 2007

98 | Robert Parker The 2007 Espectacle is 100% Garnacha sourced from 120-year-old vines located at La Figuera on the northern edge of the Montsant DO. The vineyard is managed by Rene Barbier, from the Clos Mogador team and is aged in one 4000-liter vat at Celler Laurona. The 2007 Espectacle reveals a sexy bouquet of mineral, Asian spices, incense, truffle, and black cherry compote. This leads to a full-bodied, plush, succulent, impeccably balanced wine which admirably combines elegance and power. It will evolve effortlessly for several more years and have a drinking window extending 2013 to 2022 if not longer. It is Montsant”s benchmark wine and a world-class expression of old-vine Garnacha.

Alvaro Palacios Finca Dofi Priorat 2008

93 | International Wine Cellar 60% garnacha, with a 40% blend of cabernet sauvignon, syrah and merlot) Deep ruby. Rich, complex aromas of raspberry, Asian spices, smoky minerals and violet. Focused and precise but also lush and sappy, with a texture of liquid silk and strong minerality adding to its intense red and dark berry flavors. Finishes impressively long, with resonating minerality and very suave tannins. 93 | Wine Advocate The 2008 Finca Dofi, sourced from a relatively youthful single vineyard, is composed of 60% Garnacha with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot aged in 100% new French oak. Aromas of sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, and black cherry lead to a forward, sexy offering with plenty of spice and floral notes. This lengthy effort is one of those rarities than can be approached now but will drink well for another 20 years. Alvaro Palacios established his namesake winery in 1989. The flagship L’Ermita made its debut in 1993. Finca Dofi and L’Ermita vineyards are farmed biodynamically. All of the wines are bottled without filtration.

Tintos de EspaĂąa Palacios Remondo La Montesa Crianza Rioja 2007

Winery Notes: Named after the hillside vineyard located on the northeastern slope of the Yerga mountains in eastern Rioja, La Montesa is a blend of the red grape varieties that grow organically on the Palacios Remondo estate. Ruby red in color with an amaranthine halo, renowned winemaker Alvaro Palacios describes this wine as containing complex aromas of syrup-covered cherries, fresh nectarines, quince paste and delicate notes of wood, white pepper and flint. On the palate the wine is unctuous and voluminous with soft tannins that are presented over a foundation of mixed berries, hints of white pepper, blood oranges and dark chocolate. Meant to enjoy now or age up to 10 years, this wine is very versatile and pairs well with almost any type of cuisine. 89 | International Wine Cellar Vivid red. Sexy red berries and cherry-vanilla on the nose, with a spicy quality that gains power with aeration. Sappy, sweet raspberry and cherry flavors are complemented by smoky oak spice and a touch of licorice. Openknit and smooth in texture, with good finishing clarity and slightly jammy persistence. This is drinking well now. Drink 2010 - 2018.

ÂĄPonlo en agenda!

Tintos de Estados Unidos California Belle Glos Pinot Noir Clark & Telephone Santa Maria Valley 2010 Winery Notes: Deep scarlet color. Out of the gate, aromas of cinnamon, cranberry and a hint of ginger tease for a taste. The palate turns into Christmas in the mouth... sweet baking spices and tart berries, even a hint of roasted meat. Throughout the experience a plush weight fills the mouth. The merging of flavors, viscosity and a lively acidity round out the long, sinuous finish. 93 | Wine Spectator Very dense and superconcentrated, this offers an impressive mix of dense blackberry, raspberry and huckleberry, holding its focus and maintaining its supple texture. Drink now through 2023.

Belle Glos Pinot Noir Las Alturas Central Coast 2010 Winery Notes: Dense, dark garnet color; Aromas of juicy dark fruit, moist soil, vanilla and coco burst out of the glass. The palette is so rich that it can almost be chewed on. Flavors of pie filling, plum, cured meats and root beer enliven the senses. This wine has structural integrity with great depth. The balanced acidity leads to a provocatively supple finish. 92 | Wine Spectator Deliciously pure, rich and layered, with complex currant, blueberry and wild berry fruit that’s supple, deep and persistent, ending with ripe tannins. Drink now through 2023.

Belle Glos Pinot Noir Taylor Lane Sonoma County 2010 Winery Notes: Very dark ruby color. Deep aromas of bright berries mixed with sweet toasty cedar notes. The flavors of cherries, berry pie and cola are abundant with great focus. The medium weight on the palette with balanced acidity lead the flavors through and beyond a supple, tannin laced finish. 92 | Wine Spectator “Smooth, rich and layered, with rich blackberry, wild berry, cherry and raspberry flavors, shaded by light toasty oak and ending with a long, full, saturating finish. Calera Selleck Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir 2009 95 | Robert Parker Another highlight among these new releases, the 2009 Pinot Noir Selleck Vineyard is made in a much more fruitdriven style than some of the other Pinots in this lineup. It boasts stunning depth and richness, but in the classic Calera style that never abandons a sense of structural finesse. Juicy dark berries, hard candy, flowers and herbs wrap around the rich, textured finish. This is yet another dazzling Pinot from Calera. Selleck is a site with a south/ southwestern exposure. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Calera Jensen Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir 2008 94 | Robert Parker The 2008 Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard bursts onto the palate with a rush of intensely perfumed fruit. It shows fabulous balance of fruit, structure and acidity as it covers the palate with dazzling purity and breathtaking sense

Tintos de Estados Unidos California of balance. A soft, caressing finish rounds things out in style. This is a super-refined showing from Josh Jensen. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted from Josh Jensen and Calera. Vintage 2008 was not an easy one, as a severe spring frost reduced yields to less than one ton per acre. Most of the Pinots are made with 100% whole clusters. I am not sure each of these sites is ideally suited to such a high percentage of stem inclusion, especially in this vintage, but time will tell. Calera has what are easily the most informative back labels I have ever seen, with much more information and detail on each wine than I can reproduce here. Kudos to Josh Jensen for providing his customers with the maximum level of detail one could ever ask for.

El Molino Pinot Noir Rutherford 2007 92 | Wine Spectator Firm, with a minerally, pebbly edge to the wild berry, raspberry and floral scents. Full-bodied, intense and concentrated, showing greater depth and dimension on the finish, where the flavors reveal their persistence. Drink now through 2018.

El Molino Pinot Noir Rutherford 2008 91 | Stephen Tanzer Good medium red. Strawberry, raspberry, earth and spices on the slightly exotic nose. Broad, luscious and spicy, in a crowd-pleasing, easy-drinking style. For all its early appeal, though, this pinot finishes with solid tannic spine and a distinctly savory chewiness that suggests strong extract. Built to age.

Frogs Leap Zinfandel Napa Valley 2009 Winery Notes: 77% Zinfandel, 22% Petite Sirah, 1% Carignan A second straight year of lower than average yields has provided for a wonderfully nuanced, deeply fragrant Zinfandel. A wine that expresses its intensity through complex layers instead of simple, brute power. It is almost impossible to describe the zesty “fruit bowl” of aromatics: Raspberry? Blackberry? Mulberry? Perhaps razzmatazz berry describes it best. The addition of Petite sirah underscores the ripe fruit flavors and adds a spicy touch of cardamom and cinnamon. Plush without ever being heavy or harsh, the 2009 Zinfandel is a delicious wine that sets the mind thinking of a myriad of potential food pairings. 91 | Wine Enthusiast A first rate Zinfandel. It shows the classic structure, dryness and tannins of a fine Napa Valley Cabernet, yet the pepper, baking spice and wild berry fruit and currant flavors are uniquely Zin. And look at that alcohol, under 14%. Drink this robust, complex wine with steaks, beef stew, tamales.

Frogs Leap Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 Winery Notes: The classic Rutherford characters of earth and dust are present in this 2008 Frogs’ Leap Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of cassis and currant combine with a mineral tone and a touch of warm spices. Across the palate rich black cherry flavors are enhanced with notes of pomegranate, spice, cedar and green olive. Elegant and soft, this wine’s plush texture is balanced by firm yet yielding tannins and a bright acidity.

Tinto California 92 | Wine & Spirits John Williams consistently grows one of the most compelling Cabernets on the Napa Valley floor--without ever irrigating his organically farmed vines. His 2008 is elegant and refined, a Cabernet that’s not afraid to show some varietal notes of tobacco and herb, along with black cherry and cranberry flavors. It’s complex and youthfully tannic, all woven into a seamless finish. 91 | Wine Enthusiast A very good Cabernet, dry balanced and complex. But it’s also very tannic, and is not a wine you want to drink anytime soon. With a solid core of blackberries, herbs and cocoa, it should come into its own after 2014 or so.

Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 Winery Notes: 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. The 2009 Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of boysenberry and blackberry pie, tobacco leaf, cassis and toasted oak. The entry is chewy, with black cherry fruit supported by warm, spiced oak. Thick and structured, the wine lingers on the palate with flavors of boysenberry, cherry and spice. The wine’s big, firm tannins are hallmarks of great aging potential. 92 | Wine Spectator Tight, complex and concentrated, this outstanding Cab harbors a pretty core of spicy currant, anise, tar, sage and cedar, turning supple and harmonious on the finish, where the flavors fan out and show remarkable depth and finesse. Will reward cellaring.

Grgich Hills Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2006 Winery Notes: We fermented the grapes using only yeasts that naturally occur on the grapes and allowed the wine to gain flavors and color from extended skin contact. Each lot is aged separately for several months, and then blended to create a wine that is more complex than the individual parts. After blending, the wine spent another year and half in barrel to completely harmonize before bottling. This is an elegant wine with aromas of black cherries and licorice and a long finish. Full bodied with smooth tannins, it’s the perfect partner with filet mignon, grilled steak or lamb chops. 89 | Connoisseurs’ Guide 6% Petit Verdot; 3% Merlot; 1% Cabernet Franc. If a little stiff and reluctant on first taste, this nervy, tightly wound youngster slowly unfolds and reveals suggestions of well-ripened cherries, raspberries and no small measure of sweet oak. It is a long way from being pretty and polished at the moment, and its evident tannin signals a marked need for patience, but given the winery’s track record of making ageworthy wines, it is one to lay away in complete confidence.

Heitz Cellars Bella Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 Winery Notes: The 2005 Bella Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon is a delicious Napa Valley Cabernet from the first sip to the long, engaging finish. A swirl of this wine in the glass alerts the senses to the beautiful garnet color followed by the fresh flavors of the varietal, with just a touch of spice on the palate.

Tintos de Estados Unidos California This is a charming Cabernet offering an elegant balance of rich fruit and smooth tannins --- simply impeccable. This wine is sure to impress now, and it will reward those who choose to cellar it for many years to come.

Lail Vineyards J Daniel Cuvee 2007 96+ | Robert Parker Lail’s flagship wine is the J. Daniel Cuvee. The 2007 is living up to all of its promise when tasted last year from barrel. There are 850 cases of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from four separate sites in Napa (in Calistoga, Howell Mountain, Coombsville, and Rutherford). A dense purple color is accompanied by notes of graphite, licorice, black cherry liqueur, black currants, crushed rocks, spice box, and cedar. With Pauillac-like aromatic and flavor profiles, this opulent, full-bodied, rich 2007 reveals superb purity as well as definition. It may even grow in stature over the next five years, and is capable of lasting 20-25+ years. 94 | Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Good deep ruby. Pauillac-like nose combines black cherry, licorice and flinty minerality. Broad and seamless on the palate, with terrific intensity to the flavors of black fruits, minerals and crushed stone. For all its considerable richness and depth, this has plenty of tannic support. Builds slowly and inexorably on the back end, with the element of flinty minerality returning. This should evolve slowly in bottle and last well.

Pine Ridge Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 Winery Notes: 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 6% Merlot, 4% Malbec. A sweet and spicy nose of dark, ripe plum, blackberry pie and red licorice balanced with leather and star anise bursts from the glass in this deep garnet wine. The palate echoes the richness of the bouquet and surges with fresh cassis, black cherry and brambly black fruit flavors, supported by a framework of lush tannins, roasted espresso and dark cocoa. This tremendously wellbalanced wine finishes delicately with a velvety kiss of mint chocolate and toast. 92 | Wine Spectator A big yet graceful style, this is dense with red and black fruits and notes of blackberry, spice, currant and mocha. Offers loamy earthlaced tannins, ending with an elegant, graceful presence. Drink now through 2025. 90 | Robert Parker The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is an attractive, radiant wine graced with expressive dark red fruit, flowers, licorice and spices. French oak adds volume and shape, but it is very nicely integrated. This is a beautiful, feminine Cabernet Sauvignon from Pine Ridge. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.

Stags Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Artemis 2009 90 | Robert Parker The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Artemis shows lovely depth and richness in its expressive dark fruit, flowers, tar and licorice. The influence of Antinori is already felt in this beautiful wine. A supple, generous finish rounds things out nicely. The difference between this 2009 and 2008 is night and day. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.

Tintos de Estados Unidos California Titus Vineyards Napa Zinfandel 2007 90 | Wine Enthusiast Delicious and succulent, a gigantic Zinfandel. Impresses for the powerful ripeness of the blackberry, plum and cherry fruit, accented with waves of smoky wood, cocoa and Asian spices. The tannins are rich and strong. Will age for a long time, gradually losing density and becoming softer and sweeter.

Titus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 88 | Wine Spectator Intense and a tad rustic, offering drying, chewy tannins that have a leathery edge. This delivers dried currant, black licorice and graphite on a full body, remaining dry and minerally on the finish. Decant for now. Drink now through 2018.

Oregon Archery Summit Pinot Noir Premier Cuvee 2008 90 | International Wine Cellar Vivid ruby. Intensely floral aromas of red berries, rose, violet and spicecake. Cinnamon and clove-accented strawberry and raspberry preserve flavors provide very good palate coverage and show no rough edges. The spiciness builds with air and carries through a long, sweet, energetic finish.

Beaux Freres Pinot Noir The Beaux Freres Vineyard 2009 Winery Notes: This wine as always is 100% from our original estate vineyard. It exhibits a medium plum/garnet color. The aromas are earthy – with underbrush and herbs playing off the dark fruit. Medium to full bodied, highlighting this vintages hallmarks – low acidity and sweet tannin; it is silky and spicy with an earthiness comparable to a premier cru from the Nuits-St.-Georges. Normally our wines are Oregon versions of burgundies from the northern Côtes de Nuits, but this offering has a distinct terroir earthiness that sets it apart from the other wines. 94 | Wine Spectator Light and spicy, with pretty red berry and cinnamon flavors that linger against refined tannins. The flavors expand with each sip, picking up extra mineral and earth nuances, as the finish sails on unabated. It’s the length that makes this special. Drink now through 2019.

Beaux Freres Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2009 93 | Wine Spectator Sleek and silky, with pretty cherry and mineral flavors that glide seamlessly through the long, vivid finish. This has depth, deft balance and welcome restraint. Drink now through 2017. 91 | Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Vivid red. Sexy, expressive aromas of black raspberry, rose, Asian spices and mocha, with a hint of anise. Sappy and expansive on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and notes of spicecake and candied flowers. Puts on weight with air and finishes with very good focus, length and subtle smokiness. This drinks very well right now.

Tintos de Estados Unidos Washington DeLille Cellars Doyenne Aix 2008 92 & Cellar Selection | Wine Enthusiast The blend is 61% Syrah, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Mourvèdre and 1% Cinsault. The stiffest, most tannic and compact of the Doyenne reds, the Aix hits a high point in 2008. The Syrah brings berry, citrus and a savory note; the Cabernet adds muscle and cassis. Tannins are hard, polished, almost shiny. There is a lot of depth and power here, and it needs decanting or additional cellaring to show all of its strengths. Cellar Selection.

DeLille Cellars Chaleur Estate Red 2005 91 | Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Bright ruby-red. Cassis, boysenberry, tar and brown spices on the nose. Sweet and sexy on entry, then powerful and a bit youthfully aggressive in the middle, with a bit of alcohol (actually 14.9%) currently muting the black fruit flavors. This solidly structured wine finishes with excellent tannic grip but is currently a bit clenched. I’d give it five years of cellaring, at which time I suspect it will merit a higher score. Silver Medal – DeLILLE CELLARS 2005 Chaleur Estate (red) - South Florida Fine Wine Competition Second Annual American Fine Wine Competition November, 2008 The judges are a mix of wine educators, wine buyers, chef ’s, a Master Sommelier, Sommeliers, and wine writers, and the judging is conducted blindly. DeLILLE CELLARS 2005 Chaleur Estate Red (page 518): “From its inception in 1992, the partnership behind DeLILLE CELLARS has desired nothing more than to produce exceptional wines – the powerful ones founder Chris Upchurch loves. When others focused on varietal wines, DeLILLE staked its claim on the synergy of blended grapes. Upchurch believes in blending not just varieties, but different vineyard sites. Although Chaleur Estate is essentially a warm-climate, Red Mountain wine, Upchurch finds balance by blending cooler-climate Merlot from Boushey Vineyard to soften the ripe, but tannic Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc adds aromatic complexity. Petit Verdot, Upchurch says, elevates all. This is a wine that coheres harmoniously. Chaleur Estate usually ages in 100 percent French Oak barrels for eighteen months, primarily for natural clarification and fresh spice notes. The wine is fined but never filtered. The 2005 vintage is regarded as the best in Washington State for at least ten years. Even young, the seamlessly structured, complex, and rich Chaleur exhibits glorious, high-toned fruits above a concentrated core of herbs, dark fruits, and minerality. Drink to 2017+. Tintos de Estados Unidos Washington 94 | Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast, Editor’s Choice Chaleur Estate is DeLille’s finest red wine; this vintage is more refined, elegant and precise that ever before. The 2005 is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1 % Petit Verdot; it’s especially ripe and expressive. Lovely details of ripe cherry, plum and cassis fruit are dappled with intriguing grace notes of sweet grass, fresh herb and cracker. The wine has grace and length, and the finish combines earth, herb, rock and light hints of toast-PG The Top 100 Northwest Wines, Wine #5 - Seattle Metropolitan (2005 Vintage) “Here’s a wine that gives Bordeaux’s best bottles a run for their money.” To create a list of the best Pacific Northwest wines currently in release, Seattle Metropolitan enlisted wine critic Condé Cox, a current candidate for the prestigious master of wine certification, who braved serious palate fatigue from tasting over 1,000 different bottles 93 | Wine Spectator Smooth, round and harmonious, offering an elegant mouthful of creamy, spice-accented black cherry currant and plum flavors, nicely fashioned to breeze through a veil of fine tannins on the beautifully focused finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2015. - H.S. 93 | Robert Parker The flagship 2005 Chaleur Estate is sourced largely from the Red Mountain AVA and is the same blend as the Harrison Hill. It is a more structured wine with 4-6 years of aging potential and gobs of black cherry and blackberry fruit. This nicely balanced, lengthy effort will be at its best from 2013 to 2025. DeLille Cellars and Doyenne are sister labels, the former for Bordeaux-style wines and the latter for Rhone-style wines.

DeLille Cellars Harrison Hill Red 2005 92 | Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Medium red. Complex nose offers strawberry, tobacco, lavender and subtle herbal nuances. Lush, sweet and spicy, combining noteworthy breadth and good juicy definition. Finishes with sweet tannins and solid backbone for aging. This has an old-viney quality from a cabernet component dating back to 1962. 91 | Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast The Harrison Hill vineyard has some of Washington’s oldest cabernet vines. Here the blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 9 % Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot offers a distinctive flavor profile, clean, sharp and herbal, with an interesting, earthy note. Flavors mingle, beautifully, and carry through from the tart, tight-knit red fruit into the polished and lightly slatey tannins and a chewy, lightly peppery finish. 92 | Robert Parker The 2005 Harrison Hill is sourced from a single Yakima Valley vineyard, the second oldest in the state. It is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Petit Verdot and was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak. This fragrant effort offers notes of pain grille, pencil lead, black currant jam and licorice. Seamless, ripe, and well-endowed, there is enough structure to support 2-3 years of further development in the bottle. This balanced, lengthy wine should be at its best from 2012 to 2020.
