Champagne Tsarine, Chanoine, Reims The history of “Chanoine Frères” goes back to 1730, the days of Louis XV, when two brothers Jacques-Louis and Jean-Baptiste Chanoine started a family business selling champagne wines. That same year the brothers asked the city authorities in the town of Epernay for a permit for construction or renovation of the first cellars for sparkling wines. It should be noted that “Champagne Chanoine Frères” is one of the oldest Champagne Houses – with only “Ruinart” being older. For over 270 years “Champagne Chanoine Frères” has seen its ups and downs, having lost its market position and by the end of the 20th century quietly turning into a so-called “sleeping brand”. But in 1994 “Champagne Chanoine Frères” became part of the newly established BCC (Boizel Chanoine Champagne) and since then the brand has been re-born. The production of “Tsarine” wines resumed in 2000. The first “Tsarine” cuvée was bottled at the beginning of the 19th century and was dedicated to the Russian imperial dynasty, ruling Russia at the time and which was the main market for sparkling wines since the preceding century.
The Rosé Swathed in ruby silk, a fine stream of delicate bubbles. By almost magic alchemy the aromas of wild strawberries, of wheat and of blackcurrant buds awaken our instictive senses. In the mouth, body and finesse combine languidly over notes of berry fruits and of cream. Gentleness and pleasure form a single whole. Precio Regular:
$63.00
Precio Especial: $39.99
The Premier Cru A fine mousse and a lively stream of delicate bubbles dance together on a yellow green background. A panel of aromas come together to form a broad bouquet: first grapefruit, then quince, mingle with fennel and aniseed, and evolve into richer, spicy notes of pepper, clove and cinnamon. On the palate, flavours of almond, toast and then notes of vanilla and butter, combine to soften the minerality of this fine blend. The final balance is bought into perfect equilibrium by the long and complex finish. Precio Regular:

Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs California 2008 Fruity aromas of fresh lime and Granny Smith apple are accentuated by nuances of juicy pineapple and lemon grass, and are completed by warm honey and delicate hazelnut from the two-plus years of aging en tirage. On the palate, the 2008 Blanc de Blancs enters crisp and tangy with flavors of lime, pineapple and exotic tropical fruits, followed by delicious, layered flavors of lemon custard and fresh-from-the-oven brioche. The palate finishes with a delicate sweetness and generous acidity that is long and quenching. 94 | Wine Enthusiast “Made from 100% Chardonnay grown mostly in Napa and Sonoma counties, this charming bubbly is one of the best blanc de blancs on the market. It’s rich and honeyed and feels so good in the mouth, carrying flavors of oranges, sweet limes, Meyer lemons, vanilla and toasty bread. Drink over the next six years. Editors’ Choice” 91 | Wine Spectator “Sleek and vibrant, with floral apple and lemon aromas and crisp, complex flavors of pear and yeasty cinnamon that linger toward the minerally finish. Drink now through 2015.”
Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs California 2007 92 | Connoisseurs Guide While some local Blanc de Noirs bottlings succeed on the strength of buoyant fruit, this one does so by way of refinement. Its yeasty, nicely layered aromas are graced with subtle suggestions of cherries, minerals and a scant touch of chalk, and its very deep, well-autolyzed flavors articulately express classic champenization. It is quite dry to the taste without becoming austere, and it is enlivened by a steady stream of very small bubbles. 89 | Robert Parker Composed of 74% Pinot Noir and 26% Chardonnay, the 2007 Blanc de Noirs exhibits more structure and body as well as a firmer, more muscular style. The Pinot Noir component takes away some of the charm and finesse of the Blancs de Blanc, but it adds more weight. This sparkler should drink well for several years. 89 | Wine Spectator Rich and full-bodied, displaying delicate raspberry aromas paired with spice and lemon, with supple flavors of baked apple, cherry and brown spices. Drink now through 2014. (11/ 2010)
Rotari Talento Brut Rosé Trento DOC NV
89 | Wine Enthusiast Produced with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes that are harvested by hand and grown in the hills of Trentino. Rotari Talento Brut Trento DOC NV
Best Buy | Wine Enthusiast “Elegant and tight, this pale pink sparkling wine boasts a wide array of small fruit and floral aromas. This virbant wine would pair well with fried calamari or shellfish thanks to its delicate nature and bright acidity.”
Marqués de Monistrol Reserva Selección Especial Rose Brut NV
Following the traditional method of Cava making, light maceration of grapes with their skins to obtain a rose base wine, which following a 15 month ageing process in our cellars, gives rise to this unique Cava. An enticing rosé Cava made from the local 70 % Monastrell grape and 30%Pinot Noir. It is crisp on the palate with ripe wild strawberry fruit flavours, a fine and creamy mousse and a delicate finish. Great for parties. Marqués de Monistrol is one of the leading Cava producers having established winemaking at the property in San Sadurni d’Anoia in 1882, in the heart of Penedès, 40km from Barcelona.
Pazo de Barrantes Albariño Rias Baixas 2009
In the heart of the Salnés Valley in the Rías Baixas D.O. of Galicia, Marqués de Murrieta, well-known for its premium wines from the family-owned legendary Rioja estate, produces Pazo Barrantes. The 30 acres of albariño vineyards that comprise the Pazo de Barrantes Estate make it the largest single estate in the valley. The wine’s true albariño character is a direct reflection of the Creixell family’s core values of quality and estateowned vineyards, paired with a modern winemaking approach and the latest technology. Pazo Barrantes has a full nose with developed apricot and peachy notes mixed with ripe apple. It has a wellbalanced palate; the acidity is crisp without being sharp. Fruits are soft and ripe with a dominant apricot character. The wine has excellent mouthfeel as well as noteworthy purity. It will evolve gracefully over the next years. Pazo Barrantes pairs well with any kind of seafood, white fish, soft cheeses and rice dishes.
Bogle Chardonnay California 2010
Aromas of fruit and spice mingle and tantalize the senses as you first encounter this Chardonnay. Green apples and juicy pears give way to elegant hints of Meyer lemons, but circle back to finish ripe and refreshing on the palate. Created by aging on the lees, the rich and velvety mouthfeel takes the fruit to another level, allowing the flavors to sink softly into spicy vanilla notes of American oak. The finish, graceful as a lemon meringue, perfectly balances the wine’s creaminess and acidity. Enjoy this wine with just about everything!
Joseph Drouhin Vaudon Chablis 2010
A dry and fruity wine, easy to drink. Its color is pale gold with greenish hues. Very fresh aromas reminiscent of citrus (lemon or grapefruit); small pleasant touches of fern or coriander are found as well. On the palate, dry and fruity, with mineral notes. Pleasant and long aftertaste. The 2010 Drouhin’s wines are pure. They show style and elegance. The good balance between mellowness and acidity provides a lot of freshness and enhances their fruitiness and character.
Trimbach Riesling Alsace 2009
Beautiful straw color with green edges. Fine mineral fragrance with ginger, caraway seed, underripe pineapple and flowers. Flavors of white peach, quince and lemon on the palate with a lingering, clean and dry finish. From Alsace’s top family estate! Served best with marinated, grilled, or sauced fish, and sushi. Melipal Malbec Rosé Mendoza 2010
87 | Wine Enthusiast Quite good and above the masses when compared to the bulk of rosé wines coming from Argentina. Made from Malbec, it’s bright and floral, with a touch of citrus to the nose. Healthy, vibrant, balanced and cleansing, with flavors of berries, nectarine and pink grapefruit.
Miguel Torres Santa Digna Rose Cabernet Sauvignon Chile 2011

Perfumed notes of plum and strawberry with hints of grapefruit. Full-bodied with fine acidity on the palate. Elegant and sensual with a prolonged aftertaste.
Chateau D’Esclans Whispering Angel Rose Cotes de Provence 2010 Fresh, fruity yet bone dry characteristics.
88 | Wine Spectator “On the lighter side, creamy and elegant, with fresh raspberry and glazed citrus flavors, followed by a lively and well-spiced finish.” 88 | International Wine Cellar “Pale pink. Redcurrant, dried flowers and spices on the nose, with a subtle herbal quality emerging with air. Dry and tightly focused, with good grip to its bitter red fruit flavors. The firm finish features good cut and lingering herbacity.”
Chateau D’Esclans Esclans Rose Cotes de Provence 2010
90 | Wine Spectator A delicious food rose, rich and rounded with a good structure and a bite of acidity. Red apple and pink grapefruit complement the sweeter berry fruits. The extra year of aging before release has brought some sophistication.
Paul Jaboulet Rose Parallele 45 Cotes du Rhone 2010
The 2010 Parallele 45 Rosé is a vibrant salmon/dark pink color; reflecting it’s high percentage of Grenache. Spring is finally in the air and Rosé season is in full swing! This is a true crowd pleaser and the perfect late-spring sipper.
Calera Pinot Noir Central Coast California 2008
91 | Wine Enthusiast “This fine Pinot Noir easily holds its own when tasted against far more expensive bottlings. It’s softly silky and
delicately structured and enormously rich, offering delicious waves of raspberries, cherries, oranges, cola, beef jerky and black pepper. A perfect Pinot Noir to drink now.” 90 | Robert Parker ‘An excellent bargain in Pinot Noir, the 2008 Pinot Noir Central Coast offers a delicious introduction to the Calera style. Fifty percent whole clusters were used, and the wine was aged 11 months in Francois Freres Burgundy barrels, of which 10% were new. Bottled unfiltered, it is a blend of fruit from four separate Central Coast counties, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, San Benito, and Santa Clara. Attractive notes of roasted herbs, sweet and sour cherries, strawberry jam, sassafras, and earth emerge from this medium to full-bodied, supple-textured, seductive red.”
Deumayen Trez Malbec Reserva Mendoza 2007
The TREZ vineyards are located in Alto Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo, 1,100 meters above sea level, in a privileged terroir, where there is a fresh and dry climate and the Malbec grapes reach maturity without phytosanitary treatments. Harvested in late march, the grapes were brought to the winery in 18kg boxes. After careful manual selection, the grapes were placed in 100 and 200 hecto-litre stainless steel tanks for a maceration of 21 days. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is moved to new (one-third) and one year used French (Taransaud) oak casks for 12 to 14 months aging. Intense deep red color, with a violet tint. Ripe and deeply fruited aromas with concentrated notes of black cherry, sour cherry, plums and licorice. The vanilla, caramel and toast from the oak emerge creating a mature and complex unity with outstanding violet floral notes. The aroma follows through to a full, powerful body full of ripe flavors and well structured body. Despite its concentrated, fruity character this is a soft wine with round tannins, and a complex and lingering after-taste. It will gain more complexity when aged and can be cellared for more than 10 years. 92 | Robert Parker “A glass-coating opaque purple color, it offers up an alluring nose of spice box, mineral, smoke, and black cherry. Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate, it is mouth-coating, savory, and concentrated. Give it 2-3 years to fully blossom and drink it from 2012 to 2022.”

The real deal in affordable Chilean higher-end CS; offers a little of everything, from spice to herbs to olive to fine fruit.” 90 | Wine Spectator “Very solid for the vintage, with crushed plum, fig and black current fruit woven with maduro tobacco and bittersweet cocoa. There’s a loam edge on the finish, but this stays solidly fleshy through the end. Drink now through 2013.”

Try pairing this wine with braised short ribs, chicken enchiladas, or dark chocolate.
Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel 2010 |
Every year, we bring in approximately 35 lots of Zinfandel averaging 25-30 years in age. Each of these lots
is produced under the careful eye of our winemaker, Ted Seghesio. The best of these lots are selected to make Sonoma Zinfandel. A small amount of Petite Sirah is blended in the wine for added complexity. The result is a tantalizing black raspberry and classic briary flavored wine with a balance of components for which Seghesio wines are known. 93 | Wine Enthusiast “You could use this as a teaching tool for classic Sonoma County Zinfandel. It’s full-bodied, dry and spicy, with briary flavors of wild berries, mocha, tobacco, leather and exotic spices. More importantly, it’s absolutely delicious. The grapes come from Seghesio’s best vineyards in the Alexander and Dry Creek valleys. At this price, it’s an astonishing value, especially considering that production was nearly 80,000 cases.” 93 | Wine Spectator “This racy wine is jammed with pepper and licorice, plus notes of black raspberry, roasted sage and smoke. Still youthful and unpolished, but promises much. Best from 2014 through 2017.”
