Benefits of Personal Training

Serious athletes have long used personal trainers to enhance their performance in competition. Movie stars are known to hire personal trainers to keep them fitting into their Oscar gowns. But the people who benefit most from personal training are ordinary men and women seeking to be stronger and function more effectively in their everyday lives. Working with a trainer, anyone can achieve their fitness goals—goals as modest as touching your toes again or as ambitious as preparing to run a marathon. Whether you want to lose weight, regain flexibility, develop speed or simply feel good again, personal training is an activity from which you will continue to reap benefits in years to come. Our personal trainers’ main objectives are to assist, guide, and educate those who wish to experience a greater ease and physical ability in their lives.

Junior Soccer Academy’s Champions is the intermediate step in the development for your young soccer player. The focus of the Champions classes is FUNdamentals that are crucial for every budding soccer player. Players focus on foot placement while shooting, following through on their shot, manipulating the ball in creative ways, defensive stance, and much more, all while participating in our fun games and adventure-themed activities. Players will be given small tasks to do at home that are designed to enhance their soccer experience. A $35 Nike soccer kit fee is required at the first class (for first time participants). The soccer kit includes a Nike uniform (shirt, shorts and socks) and a Nike soccer ball.

Premier level is the top level of classes for your young soccer star. Player’s develop a close familiarity with the ball and learn the importance of always having it under control. Being geared towards getting your child ready for future soccer experiences, the Premier level class tests players in a more challenging environment working on one-on-one and team exercises. By the end of class your child will learn landing on their shooting foot, precision shots vs. power shots, trapping the ball in the air and field awareness. Like the Champions level, the Premier level players will also be given tasks to do at home to help further their development. SPECIALTY FITNESS Beginner Pilates Nicole Betts

Yogercize Lynn Rosenfeld

The Pilates Method is a classic method of physical and mental conditioning created over 80 years ago by legendary physical trainer Joseph Pilates. Through exercises that focus on the application of six principles: control, centering, concentration, precis ion, breath and flow, we teach you about the mechanics of movement, allowing you to develop and maintain a healthy and graceful body. Nicole S. Betts has been studying Pilates since 1996 and was certified in New York City through Romana’s Pilates in 2004 . The mission of Romana’s Pilates is to keep the integrity of the original Pilates method as Joseph intended. Nicole has studied with master teachers Romana Kryzanowska (Joseph Pilate protege) Sari Mejia Santo, and Chicago’s own Juanita Lopez. Nicole received a BFA in dance from Barat College’s Conservatory of Dance and has gone on to perform with Cerqua Rivera Dance Theater, Chicago Opera Theater, apprenticed with River North Dance Company, and toured Europe with LaTour Productions. Currently, Nicole enjoys teaching at Hubbard Street Dance Center and the Winnetka Community House.

Creative Paws, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Ashlee Trotter, BS, CPDT-KA, and provides group classes and private lessons for dog obedience training and behavior problems. Ashlee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Michigan State University. Prior to pursuing her dog training interests she honed her skills of positive reinforcement training while working with zoo animals at facilities in the Midwest. She has been recognized for several years as a Canine Good Citizen evaluator by the American Kennel Club, as well as a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) by the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers, an affiliate organization of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the first organization to offer a national standard for trainer certification. Ashlee’s competition dog Spirit is the American Kennel Club’s (AKC) number one ranked German Wirehaired Pointer in agility for 2008–2012. He is the second of his breed to earn an AKC Master Agility Championship title, as well as the only German Wirehaired Pointer to reach the finals of an AKC National Agility event, a feat Ashlee has handled him to accomplish twice. Winnetka Community House is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in the safest manner possible, and holds the safety of the participants in the highest possible regard. Participants and parents registering their child in recreation programs must recognize, however, that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreation activities. Winnetka Community House continually strives to reduce such risks, and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions which have been designed to protect the participants’ safety. Please recognize that Winnetka Community House does not carry medical accident insurance for injuries sustained in its programs. The cost of such would make program fees prohibitive. Therefore, each person registering himself\herself or a family member for a recreation program/activity should review his/her own health insurance policy for coverage. It must be noted that the absence of health insurance coverage does not make Winnetka Community House automatically responsible for payment of medical expenses. Due to the difficulty and high cost of obtaining liability insurance, the agency providing liability coverage for Winnetka Community House requires the execution of the following Waiver and Release. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please read this form carefully, and be aware in participating in the program(s) listed on this page, you will be waiving and releasing all claims for injuries you might sustain arising out of the activities of this program. WA I V ER A N D RE L E A S E O F ALL CLAIMS As a participant in the program, I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury, and I agree to assume the full risk of any injuries, including death, damages or loss, regardless of severity, which I may sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with or associated with such program. I agree to waive and relinquish all claims I may have as a result of participating in the program against Winnetka Community House and its officers, agents, servants and employees. I do hereby fully release and discharge Winnetka Community House and its officers, agents, servants and employees from any and all claims from injuries, including death, damages or loss which I may have or which may accrue to me on account of my participation. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless and defend Winnetka Community House and its officers, agents, servants and employees from any and all claims from injuries, including death, damages or losses sustained by me or arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with the activities of the program. In the event of emergency, I authorize Winnetka Community House officials to secure from any licensed hospital, physician, and/or medical personnel any treatment deemed necessary for my immediate care, and agree that I will be responsible for payment of any and all medical services required. All participants agree that any photography taken while participating in a class, special event or use of a facility may be used for promotional purposes Winnetka Community House. Participants agree to receive emails from Winnetka Community House. R EF U ND A N D P RO RAT E I N FOR MAT ION Full refunds will be issued for courses that are cancelled by Winnetka Community House due to insufficient registration. A refund, less a 10% service charge (not to exceed $25), may be granted if the refund request is received five full working days prior to the start of the program. No refunds will be allowed after this time unless a medical condition develops and a written explanation from a physician on his/her letterhead is presented. Due to advanced reservation requirements, no refunds for trips, outings, or special events will be given. Classes may be prorated if you would like to enroll in a class after it has started, provided the instructor has space, and allows for late registration. The supervisor must approve the prorated amount.

Please list any specific medical allergies, medications, chronic illness or other conditions which staff should be aware of:

Winnetka Community House operates in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you believe you or your child need accommodations to facilitate participation in Winnetka Community House program(s) for which you are registering, please check box.
