spotlight 3 NOVA: Escape From Nazi Alcatraz
Wednesday, May 14, 9pm Colditz Castle, a notorious prisoner of war camp in Nazi Germany, was supposed to be escape-proof. But in World War II, a group of British officers dreamt up an escape plan: in a secret attic workshop, they constructed a two-man glider out of bed sheets and floorboards. Now a team rebuilds the glider in the same attic using the same materials.

Thursday, May 29, 9pm Cook and Belle welcome Jennie DeVoe; one of the Midwest’s most highly respected singer songwriters. Jennie’s song, “How I Feel,” was the first place winner of Billboard Magazine’s World Song Contest (Best Pop Song, 2004), just one of her many “Best Of” honors. She performed at the Lillith Fair, and opened for greats like Jack Johnson, Ray Charles, and many more.

Monday, May 25, 8pm Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise co-host the 25th anniversary broadcast of this night of remembrance honoring the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, their families at home and all those who have given their lives for our country. The NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT airs live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
Yellowstone: Land to Life
Friday, May 30, 10:30pm John Grabowska presents a interpretation of the geologic story of Yellowstone, the world’s first and most famous national park. Formation of glaciers to the gigantic caldera of a supervolcano provide the saga of this special place. Filmed over two years through all seasons, the film delves deeply into the significance behind the scenery and illuminates the intimate bonds between the landscape and biology.
