Twice a year, WIPB runs an auction that is broadcast on-air and online to raise money in a different way and to increase exposure for its sponsor companies. ANTIQUES ROADSHOW’s Mark Walberg to guest host The Price is Right Live! in Muncie The Price is Right Live has announced Mark L. Walberg is hosting the 2013 stage show in at Ball State University’s Emens Auditorium on Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. You likely know Walberg as the host of PBS’s highest rated primetime show, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW. The Price is Right Live! is the hit interactive stage show that gives contestants, pulled right from the audience, the chance to “Come on down” to win appliances, vacations and even new cars by playing classic games from

This Month’s Must-See Programs on 49.1 Peg + Cat Beginning October 7, weekdays at 9am What would it be like to wake up and find yourself in the middle of a math word problem? That’s what it’s like for Peg and Cat, the heroes of this new animated math-based adventure series for 3-5 year olds. In each 11 minute episode, Peg and Cat find themselves thrust into the middle of a wacky word problem. This problem isn’t just an academic exercise for them - it’s a messy, funny crisis they have to solve in order to save the day.
Masterpiece Classic “The Paradise” Sundays, October 6-November 17, 9pm A Victorian-era department store is the setting for love, intrigue, and a revolution in retailing, with Joanna Vanderham (What Maisie Knew) as a beautiful salesgirl and Emun Elliott (“Game of Thrones”) as the ruthless, enigmatic store owner. Wellness Matters “Affordable Care Act” v Tuesday, October 8, 6pm WELLNESS MATTERS looks at all aspects of being healthy and living a healthy lifestyle — body, mind and spirit. Tuesday, October 15, 8pm Join host and narrator Liev Schreiber to explore the dawn of the comic book genre and trace the evolution of the characters and their ongoing cultural impact worldwide. Chart the progression from the first comic books born during the Great Depression to today’s insatiable enthusiasm for superheroes embraced in all media and by all demographics. But the NFL is under assault as thousands of former players and a host of scientists claim the league has covered up how football inflicted long-term brain injuries on many players. In a special investigation, FRONTLINE joins prizewinning journalists Steve Fainaru and Mark Fainaru-Wada to reveal the hidden story of the NFL and brain injuries, drawn from their forthcoming book.
Great Performances “40th Anniversary Celebration” [PBS Arts Fall Festival 2013] Friday, October 18, 9pm A stellar roster of diverse alumni gather to share their personal stories of what GREAT PERFORMANCES has meant to them, with reminiscences and performances by Julie Andrews, Audra McDonald, Don Henley, David Hyde Pierce, Josh Groban, Itzhak Perlman, Patti Austin and Take 6, Met Opera star Elīna Garanča and Michael Bublé. The program launches this year’s PBS Arts Fall Festival, a multi-platform event anchored by seven films that highlight artists and performances from around the country, with related online content.
African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross Tuesdays, October 22-November 26, 8pm This six-hour series chronicles the full sweep of AfricanAmerican history, from the origins of slavery on the African continent up to the present. Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr. guides viewers on an engaging journey across two continents to shed new light on the experience of being African American. Among those interviewed are Kathleen Cleaver, Charlayne Hunter-Gault, Congressman John Lewis, civil rights activist Diane Nash and more.
American Experience “War of the Worlds” Tuesday, October 29, 9pm Relive the thrill of Orson Welles’ infamous radio dramatization of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds, 75 years after it set off one of the biggest mass hysteria events in U.S. history. The film examines the elements that made America ripe for the hoax: America’s longtime fascination with life on Mars; the emergence of radio as a powerful new medium; the shocking Hindenburg explosion of 1937; and Welles himself, the 23-year-old wunderkind director of the drama and mischief-maker supreme.
