The link between nature and its impact on wellbeing is nothing new. In 1982, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture started a national “forest bathing” program, called Shinrin (forest) Yoku (bathing). The phrase has since been adopted as a general term for immersing yourself in nature and letting your senses soak up the atmosphere. No surprise then that after undergoing the restrictions of the past year, the world is now opening up and celebrating the true value of the outdoors and its benefits to both our mental and physical health. May saw the RHS’s annual celebration of National Gardening Week and Mental Health Awareness week, which this year focused on nature.
Extensive research shows the health benefits that being outside can bring. Including, a reduction in stress, an improvement in mood and fatigue reduction. It also proved that "Every project is underpinned by outstanding craftsmanship from conception to completion"
interacting with nature can calm the mind and that phytoncide exposure, particularly in dense forest, from trees can actually increase immunity.
Letting nature in to your living space can make a huge difference to wellbeing and mindfulness. Stephen Graver has been working with a number of clients over the past year on bringing garden rooms and outdoor living spaces to life, either for entertaining spaces, outdoor eating spaces, gyms, seating areas, bedrooms and offices. This is also the beauty of these spaces, they can be so multi-functional and often change their use with the hours of the day, such as a quiet space to meditate in the morning to a vibrant space to welcome guests for a barbecue in the evening. They really can be designed to suit individual needs and tastes.
Based in the very pretty village of Steeple Ashton, Stephen Graver has seen a change in how receptive clients are at using the space available to them in more innovative and exciting ways once they start to work with his team of expert craftsmen in their award -winning studio and showroom.
