INTERWIRE 2023

Much has happened since Interwire was last held in 2019, but the wire and cable industry is by and large thrilled to look past the Covid-stumbling block and pick up from it had left off.

Interwire 2023 will provide the industry a muchneeded kick start, with energy-inspiring presentations by industry notables, including a sky-high perspective from a former woman astronaut.

The collective technology and services to be displayed in the show floor will spark the interest of attendees, as will thoughtful conference session designed by the industry for the industry, the Opening Reception, and multiple opportunities for networking, all with the backdrop of Atlanta, a welcoming city.

It’s reunion time.

The 2023 Interwire schedule has multiple stellar attractions, but it’s still appropriate to start by noting that the event kicks off on Monday, May 8, with the WAI’s day-long iconic Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing course, taught by industry veterans. AI and Industry 4.0 may rightfully be a hotter topic for companies, but helping employees understand the basics remains a good investment. It’s not too late to sign up a promising staffer.

The full Interwire program commences the morning of Tuesday, May 9, with WAI President Kurt Breischaft welcoming attendees and introducing Prysmian Chief Innovation Officer and R&D Officer Srinivas Siripurapu, the day’s keynote speaker. He will be followed by the WAI Awards Ceremony and Annual Meeting. The industry will honor Mordica Memorial Award winner Bruce Kiefer and Donnellan Memorial Winner W.T. Bigbee, as well as two other men: Southwire Company President & CEO Rich Stinson, the inaugural winner of the Champion Award, and Robert Wild, the winner of the President’s Award. That night, the WAI will stage its Opening Reception at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a first-class setting.

The exhibits—featuring the best in tech and services from some 300 exhibiting companies, including more than 30 new ones—will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 am to 5 pm, and 10 am to 3 pm on Thursday. There also will be a show floor Beer Festival Wednesday afternoon.

The energy continues on Wednesday, when Stinson will present his keynote, “The Future is Electrified.” He will be followed by former astronaut Dr. Mary Ellen Weber, whose speech, “To boldly go: the Experience of Spaceflight,” promises to be uplifting. She will speak later that day at the WAI Theater, again located on the show floor. It will host the Mordica Lecture on Tuesday and a series of presentations on Tuesday and Wednesday, including an extrusion track and Production Solutions. Wednesday will see conference sessions held on Industry 4.0 and the Workforce. The exhibits continue Thursday, which will also see a repeat of Production Solutions.

The event experience will have been well worth the wait.
