Atlanta: new design & potential Interwire and the Global Continuous Casting Forum will soon return to the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, where attendees will find that the collective events have been recreated to optimize the scope and value. A key attraction of the event—the largest such wire and cable trade show in the Americas—will always be the show floor. As of press time some 400 suppliers were committed, including dozens of new exhibitors and returning exhibitors that have been absent the last few shows. Their collective technology and services of exhibitors will be laid throughout Hall A1 and A2, but there will also be a new show floor feature, one with a “marquee” flair. A decision was made to re-create the non-trade show elements, a challenge undertaken by the WAI Educa-

tion Committee, whose volunteers believe in “practical” stuff. Their discussions led to the creation of the Technical Program and the Interwire Conference. The former embodies the traditional technical presentations, but it also includes a guest speaker. One goal was to make it easier for attendees to take part in the Technical Program. That, in turn, led to the creation of the Sonoco Theater, which will be impossible to miss on the show floor. Meanwhile, the Interwire Conference was created to focus on more business-oriented and operational topics. Besides hosting the Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing course on Monday, May 13, it has a lineup of savvy industry speakers and panelists—ferrous, electrical and general—that attendees will want to hear.
The below elements require attendees to select “Conference Registration” when registering.See p. 68 for more details on the speakers and topics. Individual speakers. The Mordica Lecture by Walther Van Raemdonck • 14 technical papers • Closing Session by Guest Speaker Ross Bernstein: The Champion’s Code
The return of the GCCF, and more
In addition to the above elements, the third staging of the Global Continuous Casting Forum looks to be the largest one yet. More than 40 scheduled presentations will delve into copper and aluminum technology. There will also be a fastener presence at Atlanta, as joining Interwire will be the International Fastener Manufacturing Exposition (IFME). The April issue will present a separate preview of this event. The WAI will return to the College Football Hall of Fame for its Welcome Reception, while behind the scenes, WAI committee volunteers will be in various planning meetings to determine the future direction of the Association. And, as ever, the city of Atlanta is there to be enjoyed, while a slew of industry opportunities will be waiting for you to discover them.
