particular way due to growing up with parents who are not western who hold strong Islamic values. When I turned 18 I was able to make my own choices as well as decisions about my own style. I therefore created a YouTube channel to reach out at young Muslim girls who may be experiencing what I once did growing up. I now have 400,000 loyal subscribers of different backgrounds religions and ethnicities.

I have my own clothing line which is suitable for Muslims it is both stylish yet appropriate due to following the guidelines in place. I have multiple videos on confidence and beauty as well as health. I predominately focus on beauty and this is what most of my viewers expect of me. I believe that beauty is both inner and outer one must have inner confidence through accepting and loving themselves this will result in them being beautiful both on the inside and outside. When growing up I was insecure due to not being allowed to wear makeup whilst my friends were, I therefore found myself in to be isolated and alone. I was constantly in the background hiding in social situations which I now regret. The purpose of my YouTube channel is to make young girls understand that you are beautiful and that makeup won’t make you more beautiful, it only enhances what you have already been blessed with!

“Growing up I suffered from acne, and I was bullied for this.” I suffered from acne which was severe, this resulted in my depression and anxiety which I still suffer from as a result of this ordeal , I was constantly made fun of in school and isolated as a result of suffering from bad acne. I discuss my own personal experiences in my emotional videos spreading the importance of respect and understanding. It is vital to understand that everyone will not look dress or be the same, I did not understand this when growing up I craved clear skin. I suffer from acne to this day however I am able to conceal my acne with foundation and concealer, as well as treatments.

My Experience Growing Up In London uring my childhood I was raised in Surrey and then moved to London, where I completed my education. During secondary school I was the only girl who wore a headscarf witin my school I therefore found myself segregated from the other students due to being afraid of being judged, after a year at my first secondary school my parents decided to move me to another school due to being depressed as as a result of having no friends, or social interactions. When at my new school I was no longer the only Muslim girl who wore a headscarf, however I still experienced forms of abuse, such as mental abuse. Due to living in a area which had a small number of Muslims I experienced forms of racism as a result of being of Pakistani heritage, I was the different girl who was misunderstood as well as judged by others. Some students were unable to understand why I wore a headscarf and others made fun of me for wearing headscarf, this ordeal lead me to be socially isolated for the second year. However I made one friend named Nitra who is know my best friend, she constantly supported me and explained that the children were uneducated as well as inexperienced, and that they did not understand the harm of their actions. This knowledge and advice from my friend allowed me to get through secondary school and succeed; surprisingly I passed all my GCSEs and moved to Hammersmith & Fulham. This area is rich in culture and diversity, I moved in with my aunt who lives within the area, since living here I have not experienced any form of abuse, this area is simply beautiful.

After a year I left to attend university, whilst at university yet again I faced constant remarks for following a religion, some would say to me: ‘I don’t believe in religion, why do you?’ however this was offensive, I could never understand why people were unable to accept that I follow a religion and believe in God, as I myself respect other peoples beliefs. I found myself constantly defending my choice of believing in God. I believe in God this does not make me less rational of a human being, I do not reject other religions

After completing a degree in English, I returned back home to Hammersmith and Fulham where I bought my first home, currently I am a teacher in a local primary school, which is full of culture diversity and tradition. When at work I am, overwhelmed by the culture, every morning I fall in love with my job the children are all friends regardless of who is wearing a headscarf, skin colour or religion which is truly beautiful.

Why is cultrural diversity important within schools: Research found by the University of Kingston found that cultural diversity enhances a childs school experience due to enriching their knowledge of different cultures and working side by side with them. These students will develop a rich understanding and perspectives of different children with different backgrounds allowing them to function and work in multicultural, multiethnic environments in the future regardless of the environment. Students learn a variety of skills such as the skill of patriotism this is vital as it enables the children to learn about different cultures, their habits as well as other things which are unique to that particular culture, this allows children to overcome cultural issues within a classroom and then overcoming them. Students will also have minimum adjustment issues due to having the experience of being around individuals with different cultures. This promotes education as well as the skill of being able to communicate and work with a variety of people.
