If you have oily skin it is best to use concealers to cover the imperfections and use powder foundation after to set the concealer and cover other parts of the skin. Also, it is important to get the right color foundation and tone which matches your skin.

Step 3: Eyeliner

Eyeliner is used to create an edge or shadow around the lid of your eye. It can come in the form of a pencil, crème, liquid or powder. Each type of eyeliner has different properties: Liquid liner creates a hard, crisp line, while powder liner gives a soft smoky look. Pencil and crème liners can be smudged for a softer line. The magic of filling in your brow is that you can create thin or full brows and different shapes using dark or light shades. For a basic look it is best to fill your brows in with a color close to your natural hair color. Tips For Beginners. . . Character

Wigs/Makeup Be careful when choosing a wig, When it comes to wigs you get what you pay for. Depending on your character, some costume/halloween wigs will do when cosplaying. If your character’s hair is down, most straight and curly haired wigs will do. If you are styling a wig to fit a certain character (such as sailor moon), do not buy those mass-produced lady godiva wigs. The moment you try to style them, they start to tangle and shed. And combing them only makes it worse. Plus trying to put them in pigtails only shows the cheap netting underneath. There are many shops online that sell styled Sailor Moon and anime wigs. If you want to attempt to style your own wig, look for “Realistic Skin Top”. These wont show the netting underneath, and tend to be better quality. Makeup can help you create that special look. Some characters require a lot of painting detail. Do you have the patience and ability to create that look? If so, remember to choose your makeup wisely. A lot of long lasting makeup brands contain oil, and if you are prone to breaking out, watch out. Check the ingredients to make sure. If you are doing a masquerade, remember that makeup can help. From far away, anyone on stage looks like a ghost without makeup. The stage light will wash you out. More makeup than usual will be needed if you expect the audience to be able to see your facial features.

Conventions and Halloween events are among the most popular and obvious choices for cosplaying. Cosplaying would also be acceptable at any costume event. There are many ways to avoid spending money by finding other alternatives e.g. You do not have to buy a wig if you can make your hair resemble the character you are cosplaying as. You can recycle your cosplay or parts of your cosplay into different outfits.

Look at the list. Think about your sewing/constructing skills. Which costume would be easy/hard for you to make? Take that into consideration when choosing your character. How accurate do you wanna be? Does your budget allow for all the items you will need to construct your costume? Will you need a wig, makeup, large prop, or even special contact lenses? Do you resemble your character in anyway? This usually isn’t really important, but if you feel it is, try to work with it. For example, if you are a short female, and you really like Sailor Moon, try going as Sailor Saturn or Sailor Chibi moon. But remember, what’s most important is how you feel portraying that certain character.

Extra Tips Being able to pose for pictures is important. Knowing who you are cosplaying as and being able to imitate or take on their personality helps when posing for group pictures or taking pictures in a photo shoot.

Depending on your budget and ability, you have many choices on where to get fabrics. If you have some sewing experience, creating your own costume can be very rewarding. Search local fabric shops for deals on fabric. Checking the remnant bin can save you a lot of money. When buying items online you need to consider quality and accuracy. Ask questions like: Does it look like the outfit my character wears? What kind of textile does the manufacturer use, polyester or cottons? These two key aspects of the costume will determine if your cosplay is good or bad. If you don’t really know how to sew, but have plenty of money to spend on a costume, you can find a seamstress in town who can create what you are looking for. Usually a few photos of what you want will do and they can create just by looking at the picture. If you are on a budget and do no have sewing abilities, then searching clothing/vintage/thrift stores can be of great help. You can make a “Found Item” costume just by searching for the right items. Also, if you have clothing or items that resembles your character you can alter and use it for your cosplay. This will save you money and time.

ANIME:

TV SHOWS Ouran High School Host Club Haruhi is a lower- middle class girl at a school for the ultra-wealthy, able to attend because of a scholarship, and unable to even afford a uniform. One day, she stumbles across the decidedly peculiar but very popular Ouran Host Club. She tries to leave, but accidentally breaks a vase, and unable to pay for it, she’s told that she’ll have to stay and do odd jobs. That is, until they decide she would be more valuable as a club member. Not realizing she’s female due to her appearance, they fix her up and give her a male uniform. She’s an instant hit, so they decide to have her keep up the charade even after they find out the truth. Haruhi, being average almost to a fault, doesn’t know what to make of the unconventional activities of the Host Club, but having little choice, she plays along. Before long, real bonds are formed, friends made, and Haruhi finds herself accepted in a way she could never have been otherwise in this affluent school.

Fruits Basket When high school student Tohru Honda’s mother dies in a car crash on her way to work, she decides to live with her grandfather. Renovations on the house cause her to move out of her grandfather’s house temporarily, and since she has nowhere else to go, Tohru begins living in a tent and supporting herself. That is, until she finds a home in the least likely of places, inhabited by her popular classmate Yuki Sohma and his cousins Shigure and Kyo. The Sohmas however, live with a curse. Twelve members of the family are possessed by spirits of the Chinese zodiac and turn into their zodiac animal when they are weak, under stress, or when hugged by someone of the opposite gender. When Tohru discovers the Sohmas’ secret, she promises not to tell and is allowed to keep living with them. Although the Sohmas’ curse is deeper and darker than Tohru realized, her presence and her acceptance of them soon becomes a large, positive influence on those possessed by the zodiac. She sets out to break the curse, and on the way, meets and discovers each of the Sohma’s vengeful zodiac spirits. Each has a different personality, just like the animals in the Chinese zodiac. Tohru’s existence changes the Sohma clan’s lives forever.
