As a lioness leader and human design 6/2 Manifestor, I am always bringing ideas to life and once I have an idea it is just a matter of time before I manifest it into reality

One of those ideas turned into our fabulous London trip for our most recent book launch, media day and retreat with our authors It was phenomenal to meet the women we have been working with since January to help them co-author our Women Thrive Vol 3 book

We met with the legendary Diane Gilman, also known as Queen of Jeans, podcaster and ageism influencer, who has recently become quite a star with her show Too Young to Be Old She candidly shared with us her incredible story which will be featured on Women Thrive TV this August

In this issue, we also feature the fierce and totally badass Sapha Pardo Heckman who is sharing her idea behind Healing Beyond Love & Light As well as Tina K Kailea, who is our new Senior Content Editor for the Women Thrive Magazine. I hope you love this issue as much as we do.

Healing Beyond Love & Light

When I was young, I had a fascination with fairy tales. Not the curated versions Disney became so well-known for, though I devoured those too No, mine was a fascination with the elements of the original fairy tales that made grown-ups argue these dark narratives were not meant for children It wasn’t that I was obsessed with evil, but rather, I understood, even at an early age, that there’s a magnificent power in the realm of the shadow that we can use to heal, to become expansive, and to ultimately create lives that feel supple, fulfilling, and well-lived

Yet how often do we sit with the heartbreak and pain of our lives? How devoted are we to courting the aspects of self we fear and judge most harshly? How willing are we to get to know the true darkness within and honor it as part of the self?

In my experience, we’ve become a people that would sooner hide behind tired old platitudes like “everything happens for a reason” than taking the time to put all the spiritual bypassing aside and take a deep dive into the realm of shadow from which we can gain such a tremendous amount of clarity, healing, empowerment, self-agency, and unwavering fulfillment.

This space we so often run away from is where true alchemy takes place.

This space we so often run away from is where true alchemy takes place. It’s where we can uncover the deep-seated patterns that for too long have kept us entrenched in toxic relationships, jobs, and states of existence, and it’s where we can create mindfully sovereign lives that feel like a dream come true Not because everything is perfect and “happy-everafter,” but because we’ve become adept at being present with and becoming the ultimate authority in our lives precisely as they are, without fearing the sharper edges we will always be presented with

For decades, we've been taught to fear the darkness, to look upon it as evil and demonic.

As the years have gone by, my understanding of this darkness has expanded and become a beautiful symphony of unwavering devotion, tender self-awareness, and radical ownership I've come to recognize this as being deeply ingrained in the realm of the Dark Feminine When I speak of the Dark Feminine, I'm not referring to the false representation we've been subjected to, in the media and old belief systems, where she's portrayed as nothing but a temptress, or a cold and callous disconnected ‘femme fatale’. This is far removed from Her true essence.

For decades, we've been taught to fear the darkness, to look upon it as evil and demonic. Yet, we've never chosen to ask this shadow aspect of life and self the kinds of questions it’s been longing for us to ask. These are the questions that can help us heal so deeply that we're finally able to move beyond old patterns and take up space in this world from a place of mindful sovereignty and expansive empowerment beyond our wildest dreams.

As spiritual beings drawn to the light and wishing to leave a positive imprint on this earth, we’ve become too enamored with the language of spiritual bypassing, which keeps us from our most potent legacy yet: a legacy of deep integration and wild self-reclamation A legacy of long-lasting self-love and embodied living A legacy we can be proud of, not because of our achievements or how picture-perfect our lives were, but because of how impactful, deeply lived, and honestly experienced our lives were

Can you imagine how much more ample your life would be if you stopped trying to force yourself to forgive someone because, deep down, you didn’t want to feel the anger, the hurt, or the pain they caused you? What if instead, you learned to honor the truth of your experience and spent time caring for yourself so deeply that one day, holding onto the resentment no longer felt suitable for your highest good, self, or potential?

This is the language of the Dark Feminine in earnest. A tale that speaks of the kind of love that can change the world

What if you stopped believing that to create the life of your dreams or become the aligned match to the love of your life, you had to be in a ‘positive’ or ‘high vibe’ state of existence no matter what? Instead, you could get to know yourself so deeply that you couldn’t help but be madly in love with yourself, thereby making yourself available for, aware of, and properly attuned to welcoming all you’ve ever desired in your life. This is the language of the Dark Feminine in earnest. A tale that speaks of the kind of love that can change the world, and the kind of being that leaves an undeniable mark upon this world, not because everything you touch turns to perfection, but because even when things are uncomfortable, painful, or terrifying, you choose to get up every morning and decide who you get to be as you move through the darkness.

Spirituality is a gift, and opening ourselves up to the possibility of more through the understanding of frequency, vibration, and energy is beautiful, but so too is the process of dating the shadows. When you understand the difference between a shadow and a true demon, and when you recognize that the things that remain hidden ask only that we shine a light upon them so that they too may be transformed, then too, will your life be transformed

By reclaiming your darkness and moving beyond simplistic spiritual narratives, you open yourself to profound healing and growth This journey isn't always easy or comfortable, but it offers the potential for greater wholeness, authenticity, and self-awareness Remember, without a witch, there is no spell, and without a spell, there is no happy ending What's more, without a heart-breaking journey, there is no triumph, no victory, no glory, no adventure, and no chance for true love to grow

You open yourself to profound healing and growth.

Sapha Pardo Heckman

As you integrate all aspects of self light and shadow you cultivate a more genuine and empowering spirituality that honors the full spectrum of human experience In doing so, you write your own fairy tale, complete with all the darkness and light that makes life truly magical. You step into the power of the Dark Feminine, asking the questions that lead to deep healing and transformation, and create lives of impact and power, none of which demands perfection, selfdismissal, or high-vibes only.

Sapha is a Women’s Embodiment and Empowerment Mentor She blends feminine embodiment, emotional mastery, and introspective practices to guide women in reclaiming personal sovereignty and transforming their lives With over a decade of experience, she helps clients excavate subconscious wounds and limiting beliefs, fostering self-compassion and inner power Through her compassionate guidance, she facilitates a journey for women to reconnect with their purpose, embody authenticity, and step into fulfillment, creating a safe space for growth and self-love

“I decided to embrace even more of myself more vibrant, authentic, and wild.”

Embracing Your Authentic Self: A Radical Act

Daring to be unapologetically yourself, outspoken, and grounded in who you truly are is a radical act especially as we get older and societal expectations seem to encourage us to fade quietly into the background. But let’s challenge that notion and take a walk on the wild side instead and let's take up space, be a little too loud, and a little too outspoken and embrace every part of ourselves without apology. I recently celebrated my 50th birthday. I didn't opt for Botox, a red convertible, or skydiving Instead, I reflected deeply on my journey and allowed this milestone to reignite a spark within me I declared, “I’m just getting started and I’m going to light that wild spark in as many women as possible along the way!”

“I had to surrender and dive deep to see what was left of me after the job title, power suit, and corporate armour were stripped away.”

The Unapologetic Chapter

This new chapter of my life is called: Unapologetic I decided to embrace even more of myself more vibrant, authentic, and wild I refuse to temper my opinions or fit any mould I’m becoming the pied piper of my own wild movement, tilting the world of leadership, and embracing every colourful, quirky, and outlandish part of myself I dare you to do the same and reimagine everything wild and audacious

Rising from the Ashes

Just a decade earlier, I embarked on a deeply personal and professional revolution after chasing a path that nearly broke me Burnout, anxiety, depression, and the heartbreaking losses of multiple pregnancies left me in pieces Everything I had sacrificed so much for came crashing down

As a senior executive, I had spent years in a corporate hamster wheel of my own making, losing myself along the way My professional identity was perfectly polished but painfully restricted I wore a mask, accepted the relentless grind, hardened up, and carried on When I exited that life to focus on my health, I was a mess I had to surrender and dive deep to see what was left of me after the job title, power suit, and corporate armour were stripped away Who was this woman in the mirror? I had no idea I was lost

Rediscovering Joy and Purpose

In the slow process of healing, I began to remember the little things that brought me joy My creativity returned, I noticed the beauty in nature again, learned to be still, and dreamt under the night sky about how life could be different This wasn’t just a career pivot; it was a soulful uprising against the sanitized sameness of my old executive life I returned to karate, became a beekeeper, took up yoga, danced in somatic temples, journaled, and started speaking. I created safe spaces for women to talk openly about the emotions surrounding pregnancy loss. I felt alive and fulfilled, realizing my superpower was holding space. I became a certified life coach, a reiki practitioner, and began holding women’s circles every full and new moon. >>

Here are 5 Key Elements to help Reclaim Yourself:

1 / Reconnect with the Cycles and Seasons

For years, I struggled with the rigid, linear approach to business Aligning my activities with the moon’s cycles, the changing seasons, and my natural rhythms brought freedom and flow Planning launches, projects, and downtime in harmony with these cycles allowed me to tap into a powerful, intuitive way of working

2 / Embrace Astrology and Human Design

Understanding my astrological chart and Human Design blueprint provided deep insights into my strengths, challenges, and unique ways of operating This self-awareness was pivotal in making aligned decisions, setting boundaries, and leveraging my innate talents It enhanced my productivity and overall well-being

3 / Embody Your Business, Brand, and Personality

Fully embodying my business, brand, and personality means showing up authentically and embracing my quirks. It transformed how I connect with clients and my audience. When people see me living my truth, it inspires others to do the same, creating powerful resonance and trust in my mentorship.

4 / Leaning into Growth and Fear

“Growth is where the Fear is,” is one of my favourite quotes and my mantra I now live by. Each step into the unknown has fortified my resolve and expanded my capabilities. I’m dedicated to helping women break free from limiting beliefs, reclaim their voices, and embrace their power

5 / The Impact of Sharing My Journey

Sharing my transformation has connected me with others on a profound level, offering hope and a path forward My story and my book Corporate Rewilding has become a catalyst for change within my network and business community Being transparent about my journey has been rewarding, freeing me from fear and fulfilling my purpose

Living Wild and Authentic

Embracing these elements allowed me to find my wild, woowoo, and wonderful self again, igniting a powerful transformation. Aligning my life and work with natural rhythms, my cycles, and my intuition set me on a purposeful path. This has reshaped how I live, work, and show up as a fully embodied woman, leading consciously as a mentor and possibility agent.

“Being yourself attracts people who appreciate your authenticity. Leaders who embrace their uniqueness give others permission to do the same.”

Ignore Self Discovery At Your Peril!

Okay, so I might be being a tad over-dramatic, but I honestly believe that prior to focusing on why I’m the way I am, why I do the things I do and take the actions I take, my life and career did not fill my heart and soul as they are beginning to do today Notice I say beginning, because self discovery is ongoing – a journey with an infinite destination

I have been a traditionally published women’s fiction author since 2007 and I was proud of having at least one book a year published My stories always carry the theme of female empowerment whether they be set today, in the 1800s or during WWII Putting women front and center in my books and have them face adversity, pain and triumph means I can explore issues that affect me and millions of other women every day

When I look back on my writing career now, I realize how cathartic it has been and how I have used my characters and plotlines to bash out feelings, fears and foes that bothered me But what if your career is in corporate rather than in the arts? How can you work through who you are, what you want and why you want it when you are in board (or Zoom) meetings, dealing with facts and figures, profits and losses? What about your self-discovery journey then?

Focuson Self-Discovery toChangeYourLife

Self-Discovery for Everyone

Throughout my career, I have received rejection after rejection from publishers, but that has not deterred me from submitting another book proposal and another and another What is it inside of me that keeps me brushing myself off and trying again? When I started on my journey of self-discovery in February 2023, I started reading books on building confidence and self-esteem, this led to pinpointing events and trauma in my past that shaped who I am today –this then led to what has been my ultimate saving grace – spirituality Finding what makes you happy in your life, job or career means committing to the internal work as much as the external So much so, that if we truly study what is happening inside of us by way of our responses and reactions, how much we take to heart and how much we ignore, everything externally begins to change. Better still, it begins to work in your favour.

Begin Your Journey of Self-Discovery Today!

So what was the catalyst for me making myself an important part of my daily ‘to do’ list along with the million other things I had to do as an author, wife, mother and daughter Selfpreservation! There have been times in my home life and professional life when I’ve felt like the walls were closing in, that I was losing my mind and failing in every area. In January 2023, I was sinking lower and lower emotionally and financially. I was relying on my husband’s belief in me and his monetary support to continue doing what meant the world to me – write!

“Self-discovery is about journaling, dreaming and looking inside.”

If, like me, you are finding it harder and harder to keep up the façade that you are okay around family and friends, you are retreating socially or your self-esteem and self-worth is beginning to deteriorate, commit to taking some time for yourself EVERY day Self-discovery is about journaling, dreaming, looking inside, saying no to what you don’t want and yes to what brings you joy Also, eighteen months into my journey, I have now found strength in crystals and the reality of manifestation When I began to study manifestation and accepted every thought, feeling and action I put out in the world was being reflected back to me, I felt an incredible weight lift

Why?

Because it meant my life and career was in my own hands – I had the power to change myself and my world. And I am. Day by day, step by step.I am now an active and eternally grateful part of a wonderful law of attraction/ manifestation/spirituality membership group founded and run by the beautiful soul and teacher, Emma Mumford (https://emmamumford co uk/) I am not only healing events in my past that I had no idea were affecting my present and future willingness to put myself forward, do things I didn’t think I could, and trust things happen as and when they do for a reason, I am now writing a brand new novel series for my dream publisher!

Do I think my renewed success is a coincidence? Absolutely not If you are feeling lost, stuck or hopeless in your life or career, I urge you to consider stepping into the world of self-discovery and see what happens

Rachel Brimble

I am the author of 30 traditionally published women's fiction novels - most of which are set in the historical city of Bath I also run an author service to help other writers on their journey to publication through my professional manuscript critique and proofreading

Redefining Spirituality

Connecting to Your Infinite Empowerment

ften, when we think of spirituality, images of mystical rituals or strict religious doctrines come to mind But what if spirituality is something more intrinsic and universally accessible than these traditional portrayals? What if your spirituality was your true connection to self, where self-love, self-respect, and your true empowerment lie?

Is it possible for you to explore a transformative perspective on spirituality, where it is not about external practices but about connecting with your own profound internal power? By redefining spirituality, you can uncover your ability to align with your true potential, recognizing yourself as a pure source energy creator of your human experience.

“By redefining spirituality, you can uncover your ability to align with your true potential.”

Bridging Science & Spirituality; Moving Beyond Woo-Woo and Religion

Centuries ago, there was a division of church and state. There was also a decision that further divided our spirituality and our body. These were man-made decisions, and since then we have paid the ultimate price of losing our inner innate connection to source power and true community connections.

Interconnected and Interrelated Systems

Our bodies are marvels of biochemistry and electromagnetism, functioning not as separate systems but as a cohesive whole Every cell in our body operates like a small battery, powered by an electromagnetic charge that interacts with other cells and the external environment There is a science behind our biochemical reactions and our physical health but also our emotional and spiritual well-being

Recognizing the dual nature of our existence, from both a scientific and spiritual basis opens new pathways for personal empowerment. Every heartbeat, nerve impulse, and cellular movement is governed by electromagnetic fields and forces that resonate throughout our bodies and into the space around us.

“At its core, spirituality is an intimate journey towards understanding and harnessing our internal power.”

Research from institutions such as the HeartMath Institute has demonstrated how the heart's electromagnetic field can be detected feet away from the body and how these fields can be synchronized with others, illustrating our literal and metaphorical connections with each other through our electromagnetic nature

True spirituality transcends boundaries

At its core, spirituality is an intimate journey towards understanding and harnessing our internal power a journey that aligns us with the universe's vast energies and our true potential This internal power is not a force external to us; it is inherent within us, woven into the very fabric of our being Engaging with this power involves more than just acknowledgment it requires active participation and alignment.

7 Practical Steps to Align Spiritually

1 / Meditation and Mindfulness:

Incorporate daily practices of meditation and mindfulness to calm the mind and increase awareness of your internal state Even the act of stillness and silence allows your inner innate voice to be accessed and heard Think of it as tuning into your personal radio station, where the static of daily life fades away, and you can hear your true self

2 / Physical Activity:

Engage in activities like yoga to enhance your energy flow and align your chakras. This is a healing practice that reduces stress and inflammation, which gets in the way of your personal connection and alignment. Imagine your body as a finely-tuned instrument; regular practice keeps it in harmony.

3 / Diet and Nutrition:

Consume foods that enhance your energy levels and support your body’s delicate balance. Natural ingredients reduce inflammation and stress in your body.

4 / Connect with Nature:

Spend time in nature to ground yourself and reconnect with the earth’s electromagnetic field Walking barefoot on grass or sand can be a simple yet profound way to recharge your body's natural energy

5 /Somatic Healing:

Engage in somatic healing practices to release stored trauma and enhance your body’s natural energy flow Think of it as clearing out the cobwebs from your mind and body, allowing for a more vibrant and connected existence

6 / Work with a Coach:

Find a coach who specializes in whole-body wellness to guide you on your journey of personal empowerment A coach can provide personalized strategies and support, much like a personal trainer for your spiritual and emotional well-being

7 / Practice Gratitude:

Regularly practice gratitude to shift your energy and enhance your spiritual connection. Keeping a gratitude journal can be a daily reminder of the abundance in your life, shifting your focus from what’s lacking to what’s thriving. >>

Start today by choosing one or two steps from this list that resonate with you the most. Remember, spiritual alignment is a personal journey that unfolds at your own pace. Embrace each step with openness and curiosity, and allow yourself to discover the immense power within you. In redefining spirituality, we have embarked on a journey to understand and embrace our true nature as electromagnetic beings, interconnected with the universe in profound ways It is important to challenge traditional views of spirituality, review different perspectives, and find where you authentically align By moving beyond the confines of what we have been taught to think and believe, we move towards a more inclusive, scientific, and empowering perspective Embrace this knowledge and these practices with an open heart and mind Explore your spirituality and discover the immense power and peace that comes from being truly aligned with your own inner innate power

“Embrace each step with openness and curiosity, and allow yourself to discover the immense power within you.”

What exactly is Mindfulness

Mindfulness is defined as “a mental state achieved by concentrating on the present moment, while calmly accepting the feelings and thoughts that come to you, used as a technique to help you relax” For instance, going for a walk, dog and device free, with the intention of noticing everything that surrounds you, drinking in the sounds, the colours, the feel of the elements on your skin, can certainly bring you into present awareness. Today, we'l explore how mindfulness can improve your productivity and heighten spiritual awareness.

The Importance of a Mindfulness Practice

Most of us know what we should be doing in order to live a healthy fulfilling life, or at least we think we do We can often get caught up in the busyness of life though and the first thing that can fall by the wayside is our healthy habits Carving out some space for our mindfulness practices is the last thing on our minds when we're trying to meet a deadline, dealing with sick children or elderly parents or simply working our way through that ever expanding to do list. But I'm here to tell you that if you find yourself running on adrenaline to get through the day, if you're right now reaching for that second coffee, then I'm most definitely talking to you, the most important thing you can

do for yourself, and your productivity, is activate your parasympathetic nervous system. This is the one thing we don't want to let fall by the wayside in our day, as it is the key to actually showing up as the best version of ourselves When we do this we are able to think clearly, tap into our creativity and gain some clarity on what's truly important to focus on And with our energy no longer scattered out in a million different directions, when we come back to the task at hand, we are able to get through it a lot more efficiently and effectively

Daily Mindfulness Practices

I am not a believer in the ‘one size fits all’ cookie cutter approach You need to find one that works for you and that you actually enjoy doing it, especially in the early days, in order to be able to stick to it consistently enough to reap the benefits And it's about consistency, not perfection If you miss a day, a week or even a month it really doesn't matter There is absolutely no need to mentally beat yourself up about it, that totally defeats the purpose, simply take a breath and start again You may even be curious to try something new, who knows you may even end up loving it –especially once you start experiencing all the positive benefits for yourself! Here are my favourite practices to bring you into present awareness and elevate your spiritual awareness:

Breath work

The thing I love about breath work is that it gets people there quickly When I say ‘there’, what I mean by that is completely out of the head and into the body. Some of the more dynamic practices take some people into states of pure consciousness in one session, that was previously thought to take years of advanced devotional spiritual practice to achieve. On the other end of the breath work spectrum practices to calm the nervous system are invaluable tools to alleviate the feeling of stress, anxiety and overwhelm we can often experience as entrepreneurs and business owners.

Yoga Nidra

In my humble opinion, yoga nidra is the ultimate life hack, with a 30-minute session being the equivalent to 2-4 hours sleep, depending on how deep you go The restorative breathing pattern you go into in the this state is also immensely beneficial, helping the body regulate itself and bounce back from stressful period effectively

Journalling

Following the Artists Way has been a game changer for myself and I've witnessed this in many others By journalling three pages a day, preferably when you first wake up, this really helps to unlock the creative spirt that is within each and everyone of us. I credit this practice for helping to unlock the part of me that is now constantly wanting to write, design and curate beautiful spaces and experiences And when we are creative we're in the present moment, some describe it as a flow state, completely focused on the project we're working on Most people in this state will tell you that it connects them to source, to spirit, and this is where they draw their inspiration from.

Meditation

This is the key to getting to know ourselves. Sitting in stillness, even for ten minutes a day, can give us great understanding of what concerns us, what we desire, what truly matters to us For those who say they don't have time to meditate, consider how you want to view your life in 5 or 10 years will you wish you'd done things differently? Meditation will put you in the driver’s seat of life and you will be able to navigate it from a much clearer space Whether it's guided or in silence it really doesn't matter; find out what works for you and give it an honest chance to transform your life

We recently hosted a week-long authors retreat and media day in London featuring Diane Gilman, Kim Blythe and Emily Saunders, bestselling authors, thought leaders, influencers, and inspirational women. Getting to meet these women in person and hear their stories for our Women Thrive Author Interview series has been magical experience There is nothing like having a meet and greet in person to celebrate the successful book launch and magazine features. You will soon be able to watch live stream of these interviews on Women Thrive TV Show,

Media Day in London with The Women Thrive Authors

Diane was born in 1945 to a Polish mother and Ukrainian father, who had different expectations and ideas regarding their daughter. At an early age, Diane knew she wanted to become a fashion designer; instead of playing with dolls, she would dress them Diane’s drive to succeed and her visionary ideas divided Diane with her parents and so she left home at the age of 17 to pursue her dream of fashion. Her next few decades set Diane up for success, in her career dressing people like Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Jim Morrison and Jimmy Hendrix in the mid-’60s. She chose to never get old and never marry, instead, Diane made her career and passion for fashion her life-long commitment. A Unison Transforming Emotional Liberation into Business Success for Women

s women, we are the source of creation and life We are leaders, sisters, mothers, midwives, and more Yet, with the rise of patriarchy, we lost and forgot a significant part of our wisdom However, with the age of Aquarius, we are gradually emerging from this obligatory, masculine system and starting to regain our feminine power by reconnecting with our self-worth.

In today's competitive world, women in business face unique challenges, that often stem from deep-seated emotional patterns regarding masculinity, more than we are supposed to. Our nature is not inherently competitive; we know how to rise together. By unlearning this competitive attitude and re-engaging with the essence of our femininity, we can overcome these challenges and learn how to rise and thrive without hustling again.

Today, I will share with you a unique and transformative technique called Unison, which offers a powerful approach to overcoming these obstacles By combining the power of channeled art with the release of emotional tensions, Unison helps women in business achieve greater visibility, confidence, and success

“Combining the power of channeled art with the release of emotional tensions.”

What is Unison?

Unison is a profound technique that uses channeled art (oil painting) to help individuals release emotional tensions and transmute the patterns Unison says regardless of psychic abilities, everyone channels information from parallel timelines. These channeled insights influence the emotional patterns that shape our current lives. By releasing these emotions, Unison allows women to transmute deep-seated wounds and connect with their most authentic selves.

The Power of Channeled Art

Channeled art serves as a conduit for expressing and releasing trapped emotions. This meditative and intuitive process lets participants bypass the nervous system's interference, facilitating smoother emotional release and deeper selfconnection. This inward journey does not require diving into specific memories, making the healing process more accessible and less daunting.

Addressing Core Wounds of Femininity

One of the most profound benefits of Unison is its ability to heal the ‘witch wound’, the ‘bitch wound’ and the ‘whore wound’ These wounds represent societal and historical stigmas associated with femininity:

•The Witch Wound: Tied to the fear of women's power and intuition, leading to self-doubt and suppression of abilities

•The Bitch Wound: Linked to negative perceptions of assertive women, causing many to shy away from expressing true thoughts and desires

•The Whore Wound: Stemming from societal judgment of women's sexuality, leading to feelings of shame and guilt.

Healing these wounds empowers women to reclaim their authenticity and strength, enabling them to express their talents without selfsabotage. >>

“Channeled art serves as a conduit for expressing and releasing trapped emotions.”

Unison in Business

The emotional liberation achieved through Unison extends far beyond personal healing Women who engage in this practice often find that their newfound sense of self-worth and authenticity translates into greater visibility and effectiveness in their professional lives They become more confident in sharing their talents and ideas, enhancing business opportunities and success.

Managing Emotions for Self-Actualization

Emotional management is crucial for achieving self-actualization. Research shows that emotions significantly shape our thoughts, behaviors, and interactions. By effectively managing and releasing emotions, individuals can overcome internal barriers, fostering a sense of inner peace and fulfillment.

Incorporating techniques like Unison into one's spiritual practice provides the necessary tools to navigate the complexities of emotional landscapes, leading to a more balanced and harmonious life. For more information about how Unison can help your business, visit The Unison.

Adversity A Stepping Stone to Success

Embracing Resilience

Imagine standing with your back pressed against a bathroom door, with a narcissistic abuser standing on the other side waiting for you to exit so he can pounce This was my reality on a warm summer night in 2004. I was filled with pain and despair for five long years before I finally broke free. After going through counselling, finding solace in personal development, and surrendering to my faith, a transformation occurred. I realised that my challenges could either break me or become stepping stones toward fulfilling my purpose. My journey led me to write my first book, Overcome & Rise Above – How to Turn the Downsides of Your Challenges into the Upside of Renewing Your Life. I discovered that resilience is not about the challenges themselves but the perspective we apply to them, this is what will determine the end results.

Overcoming adversity is an inevitable part of life, and it can sometimes feel overwhelming. However, developing resilience is not only crucial for overcoming setbacks, but it also empowers us to thrive in the face of challenges It’s a skill that can be cultivated and strengthened over time, enabling you to face challenges with courage and determination

Why Resilience Matters

I believe that as women we often face unique challenges and societal pressures that test our resilience Balancing multiple roles and responsibilities, breaking through gender stereotypes and biases, navigating personal and professional challenges requires emotional and mental fortitude. Developing resilience is essential for you to effectively overcome your obstacles, maintain your sense of empowerment, and ensure overall well-being.

Here are 5 resilience building strategies I have learnt on my journey:

Cultivate a Growth Mindset: 1.

Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and learning Adopting a positive attitude towards setbacks can shift your perspective and build resilience.

Build a Support Network: 1.

Surround yourself with uplifting friends, family, mentors, and colleagues who support you during tough times. Seeking guidance and emotional support provides valuable perspective.

Practice Self-Compassion: 1.

Be kind to yourself and practice self-care during difficult times. Treat yourself with the same compassion and understanding you offer to others facing adversity.

Develop Problem-Solving Skills: 1.

Enhance your ability to tackle problems by breaking them down into manageable steps and seeking creative solutions. Building problem-solving skills boosts confidence in overcoming challenges

Prioritise Emotional Well-being: 1.

Take care of your mental and emotional health through mindfulness, meditation, or engaging in activities that bring joy and relaxation Effective stress and emotion management are crucial for building resilience

The Impact of Resilience

In conclusion, resilience is a valuable quality every woman can cultivate to overcome adversity and thrive in the face of challenges. By building resilience, you can tap into your inner strength, embrace your full potential, and lead fulfilling and purposeful lives. Remember, “You might not be able to erase the pages of your past but, you have the power to determine what will be written in the next chapter of your book called life.” ~ Michelle Watson

Have you ever found yourself at rock bottom, consumed by despair, crying out for answers that never seem to come? I have Trapped in a job I despised, stuck in a cycle of abusive relationships, and numbing my pain with alcohol, I was in a dark night of the soul that seemed to last forever days, months, and years

Then, a friend introduced me to the extraordinary Art and Music Festival: Burning Man. Amidst the vibrant energy, accepting community engulfed in art and creativity, I discovered energy work, crystals, shamans, and other healing modalities. These experiences revived my inner artist, but the healing felt temporary, especially when I returned home to face my life and family.

Everything unhealed intensified when I became pregnant. As my body changed, old traumas resurfaced, demanding deeper attention. Despite my devotion to energy work, chakra clearing, sound baths, and healing retreats, I still felt an insatiable void. I knew I had to do something different. Confronting my relationship with a higher power was the turning point for true, lasting transformation

I was so angry at whatever this ‘higher power’ was If there was a higher power, why did it allow me to go through the hell I experienced as a child? Why did it allow the sexual abuse, emotional neglect, and trauma? That felt so cruel and made me feel utterly worthless and forgotten

As I faced becoming a single mom, leaving the job I hated, and starting my life over, I realized that any healing work I had done before barely scratched the surface In my darkest moments, I decided to confront my resentment and anger towards this ‘higher power ’ I needed to go down a new path that I hadn’t tried before I needed to face what I had been avoiding

Setting the intention to connect and taking baby steps toward a ‘higher power’ initially felt awkward. I didn’t know what I was doing I didn’t know how to pray or meditate ‘right’ or understand the Bible. However, the more steps I took, the more I felt a reciprocal movement towards me. I was led to the Foundation of Spiritual Development in San Rafael and the teachings of Ron Roth's Celebrating Life Ministries. Eventually, I was also guided to a local Christian church and a mentor named Joan, who guided me through Bible study, making the once-alien words resonate deeply.

Turning to popular, more mainstream spiritual practices like angel cards, reiki, and Tarot in my twenties did not bring the deep healing and transformation I needed as I faced being a single mom and transforming my childhood trauma in my thirties The profound experiences and tools I learned at the Foundation of Spiritual Development revealed a deeper connection to a Higher Power, making it impossible to return to my old ways. Once you’ve been expanded, you cannot go back into ignorance.

The more I used the tools to connect with Creator (what I came to know this ‘higher power’ as), the more my life transformed I was guided to modalities and people who truly helped me create lasting change and heal my childhood wounds I began to move out of survival mode and felt more peace, calm, and joy daily My business became steady, and I could consistently support my daughter and myself I now receive direct feedback when I stray from my aligned path Signs become more painful until I realign with my spiritual center My connection to Creator is truly my lifeline It enhances my intuition, creates synchronicity, and brings miracles and a sense of magic to my life. When I’m disconnected, chaos ensues, reminding me to re-center and reconnect. I can’t imagine not having this connection or relationship in my life it’s become so pivotal. Signs of connection manifest in various ways: words in songs, messages on signs, goosebumps of resonance, animals showing up out of nowhere, or seeing heart shapes in unexpected places. I feel safe, protected, and connected to everyone and everything. Disconnection brings heaviness, fear, and uncertainty. >>

If you’re new to connecting with a higher power, meditation is a powerful tool to establish that connection I find solace in contemporary Christian music and instrumentals Nature also provides a sacred space for connection, allowing the stillness to envelop you Meditation styles vary some people prefer breath-focused silence, while others need visualizations or repetitive motions like biking, swimming, walking, or painting. Finding the style that works for you and allows you to tap into the ‘non-thinking’ zone is key. And then, do this daily.

“ Embrace your unique spiritual path and let it guide you to profound healing and connection. ”

If you have not done so, the idea of praying can feel very strange. Think of prayer as more than just a wish list; it’s about tuning into the energy and frequency of Creator. Imagine it as tuning into a radio station. Another way to connect is by finding a spiritually resonant book, meditating on a sentence or phrase, and remaining open to receiving messages Freely journaling your stream-of-consciousness thoughts can also be a way to tune into the divine You can ask questions and then start writing without overthinking whatever comes through Music playing in the background that aligns with your version of a ‘higher power’ can support this process

The key here is that you are unique, and your relationship with your spirit and a higher power is sacred and just as unique as You There is no one way to tune in and connect You have to find your own path Set your intention to connect and take baby steps toward this mystery As you take those steps, you will sense a shift happening. Trust yourself and enjoy the journey. It’s like reconnecting and coming home to your long-lost best friend you didn’t realize you had and didn’t realize was missing. It’s a sacred and beautiful reunion, a journey from darkness (ignorance) to light (knowing).

Embrace your unique spiritual path and let it guide you to profound healing and connection. In my Pain into Power Process, I love helping clients establish and restore this relationship and connection. This is always a byproduct rather than a main focus of the work I do with clients, and it’s always a beautiful witnessing and unfolding to be a part of.

Envy Is Being Human Enough of an Excuse?

We’ve all been there witnessing a friend’s excitement over some great news that’s life-changing They’re over-the-moon excited and openly reacting with an abundance of animation For all the wonderful feelings they’re going through, you’re cringing with envy People usually say this reaction is just human nature, but is being human enough of an excuse for such negativity?

Despite our efforts, many of us have a negative gut reaction to others’ success, and as much as we try to suppress the negativity, envy still rears its ugly head. But maybe our envy has very little to do with our friend’s accomplishment and far more to do with our self-worth.

“Even as a sole proprietor, mixing personal and business funds can lead to potential . ”

As explored in the article Examining the Jealousy of Success through Psychological Concepts by Mo Kaiser, our jealousy is explained by Festinger’s Social Comparison Theory This theory states that we measure our self-worth with the accomplishments of others Social Comparison Theory is just one of many explanations for our unwarranted reaction to others’ achievements, but it probably rings a bell with many.

Therefore, do we settle for the excuse that our responses are natural since science seems to give us that ‘out’? Or do we believe that as human beings we can do better and that we shouldn’t get down on ourselves when others seem to be achieving more? The answer to the problem lies in the mentality you choose.

If you tend to feel negative about your self-worth when others succeed, here are three questions to ask yourself. Your answers might hold the key to flipping that negative to the positive.

1. Why am I giving my feelings of envy and inadequacy any power?

You have 100% control over you. Giving your negative feelings more power than they deserve will set you up for a crippling dose of the blues. To shake this funk, think of at least three positives you’ve accomplished recently. Highlighting your achievements is the best way to combat inadequacy spurred by envy.

2. How does the success of others threaten me?

You’re not expected to do everything other people accomplish They have their own goals and agenda Understand that you’re on a different path, not a lesser one

3. What are you doing that’s really important to you?

As long as you have a passion or a goal you’re working toward, you should feel proud of your commitment If this question is difficult to answer, take a minute to get back on track Maybe you’ve been slacking off a bit when it comes to goals That’s okay Then this experience has been a wake-up call Use it to improve instead of feel down about yourself

An occasional pang of envy is not the end of the world. Just understand that your feelings should not progress and cause a severe case of low self-worth or a rift in a good friendship. Here are two strategies to use ‘in the moment’ to ward off the green-eyed monster

2

Think of how wonderful that feeling of excitement is when you experience it for yourself, and absorb the positive energy rather than repel it

1 Remind yourself that your friend’s achievements belong to them just as you own yours Theirs have no reflection on you

To answer the question posed in the title, I conclude that there’s never any room for excuses Being human affords us some awesome abilities, one of which is to adopt a healthy mindset that fosters positivity Understanding that our friends’ accomplishments have no reflection on our self-worth is a giant step toward quelling envy. By adopting this understanding large scale, we can possibly begin to change the dynamic of what ‘being human’ really means.

Finding My Real Self and Enriched Soul

How do you know you have a mind? You are aware of it, right? How do you know you have a body? Again because you’re aware of it So what is that thing that is aware of your mind and body?

What is happening to me?

As I sat in the bath, the water getting colder, I started to shiver How am I going to get out of the bath, I thought I couldn't move? Roughly 60 minutes earlier it felt like my head would explode as I lay in the warm bubbles. Then in a split second my body went limp. I couldn't move my right arm or leg much and my breathing started to become shallow

“I had experienced my real Self in those moments.”

As I looked up at the air vent on the wall above the bath I was sure I could see a bright light or was I just confused? Sitting there in the cold water, the feeling of being scared dissipated. I felt this sense of calm wash over me, and I had a feeling that all would be okay Although I didn't know how as I couldn't move and I couldn’t breathe too well either

However, I allowed myself to calm down and relax and the energy in the room changed, The only way I can describe this is that it was as if I was cocooned in a silent spacious sphere I heard nothing, the pain had vanished and I was in total silence and everything became completely still I didn't understand what was happening to me

Freedom is the willingness to experience all of life and to do so without suffering.

I now know that yes I have a mind but I am not my mind I also know I have a body but I’m not my body

Conscious Awareness is that which is aware of my mind and body and it's still, silent and spacious Now I believe I had experienced my real Self in those moments in the bath that day

A similar unexplained experience happened one morning many years previous, when I woke to a light shining in my eyes I looked over at the wall in my bedroom and there was this bright illuminated cross that flashed for a few seconds then disappeared. I jumped out of bed and looked into the cot and could see my baby was finding it difficult to breath. I knew in that moment that the cross was a sign and my son was being protected by a higher power just like the day I suffered a stroke in the bath.

Growing up I had always felt different to my siblings and friends I was often told I was too sensitive As a child I spent a lot of time on my own in my bedroom I was a bit of a lone wolf and I don't think others understood me, so I was more comfortable on my own In my late teens and upwards I was interested in crystals, chakras, meditation, angel cards and other worldly spiritual teachings

Being in alignment with your soul self is pivotal to your growth.

When I started to incorporate a mind - bodysoul approach to my health that's where the magic started to happen and I could see that I was not “broken”.

There is so much more to this physical form we all have, the body is the vehicle not the driver. So I went on a mission to educate myself and find out more about spirituality and ways to embrace my real Self and to be soul rich. I believe we are all here for a purpose and it was written in my soul contract, that I would have a stroke in order for me to share my experience with others, to help them to awaken and learn how to embody the best version of their real selves

“Make a daily conscious choice to return to who you are and watch the dance of life continue.”

What purpose can you unveil from your suffering?

Every experience is a learning experience Know that what has happened in your life hasn't happened to you, it's happened for you We all have incredible resilience and the capacity to overcome whatever darkness has adorned our doors

Make a daily conscious choice to return to who you are and watch the dance of life continue. It has been said by many spiritual teachers that you are what you seek. If you are Peace, Happiness, Joy, Freedom etc and you are not experiencing it yet - then why not?

The reason is that so many people spend time searching over there thinking that they are someone who they simply are not. Searching outside themselves where they believe that there is this metaphorical rainbow and in the hope that by doing x, y and z they will find what they have been seeking. You won't find these beautiful states of being outside your Self, they are woven into the fabric of your being. They have been there since the day you were born. All you need to do is look within and the answers are there to be found

You have all you need and more within you

In the fast-paced world of business, it can be easy to get caught up in the daily grind of meetings, deadlines, and bottom lines

However, amidst the hustle and bustle, there is a valuable opportunity for us, as women leaders, to give back to our communities and make a lasting impact, by mentoring the next generation of women business leaders

Mentorship is a powerful tool that can shape the future of aspiring women professionals, who often face unique challenges in the business world By sharing our knowledge, experience, and insights, women business leaders can empower the next generation to reach their full potential and break through barriers.

“Empowering the next generation of women in business isn't just about giving back; it's about ensuring a legacy of progress and success that transcends generations.” - Sonia Veluchamy, CEO of Celegence.

Many young women entering the workforce may lack access to the resources and networks needed to succeed By serving as a mentor, women in business can help bridge this gap, offering valuable advice and connections that can open doors and create new opportunities

“Mentorship is incredibly rewarding, it provides a sense of fulfillment and purpose as to witness the growth and success of my mentees ” - Sonia Veluchamy, CEO of Celegence

Mentorship also plays a crucial role in building a more inclusive and diverse business community By actively engaging in mentorship programs, women business leaders can help create a more level playing field for all women and other underrepresented groups, ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed.

“Mentorship is a powerful tool that women business leaders can use to give back to their communities and make a positive impact on the next generation.”
How can women leaders get involved in mentorship? Here are three practical steps to get started.

Step 1: Identify Your Strengths and Expertise

Reflect on your own career journey and the lessons you've learned along the way What skills and experiences do you have that could benefit others? Whether it's leadership, negotiation, or strategic planning, there's likely an area where you excel that could be valuable to a mentee

Step 2: Find Opportunities to Mentor

Once you've identified your strengths, the next step is to find opportunities to mentor. Look for formal mentorship programs offered by professional organizations or business schools. Two organizations I am involved in are Launch U, a transformative college and career prep mentoring program and the Young Presidents Organization/Chicago Chapter.

Step 3: Commit to Making a Difference

Mentorship is a commitment that requires time, effort, and dedication. It's important to approach mentorship with an open mind. Be patient and supportive, and remember that mentorship is a two-way street. While you have valuable insights to offer, you can also learn from your mentee's fresh perspectives and ideas. By committing to making a difference in someone else's life, you can create a more inclusive and diverse business community for the future

My path to Women Empowerment

When people ask me why I am striving to empower women and girls so they can achieve their highest potential in the field of STEM, my answer always brings me to my childhood, when I was dreaming about getting my education in the United States

This dream led me to start my career as a librarian in our biggest local library. In our community, as well as other communities, the role of the librarian is underestimated, however, I do believe librarians play a crucial role in the field of education. Librarianship allowed me to open up my leadership and public speaking skills, while I was working on events to bring to the community about certain issues we are facing Not so long after my deep dive into the world of the library, my dreams started coming true - the U.S. Embassy decided to open up an American Corner in our library

I was the first person called by the library director to ask if I was interested in holding the position of American Corner Coordinator, and my answer was ‘yes’. That day I realized that when you believe and dream, as well as put your efforts into it, your ambitions, goals, and dreams start to come true

My life changed a lot, starting something new, something that our community had no idea about, was challenging and at the same time fascinating.

“When you believe and dream, as well as put your efforts into it, your ambitions, goals, and dreams start to come true.”

In 2009 my career path also took a new direction, giving me more possibilities to develop and improve In a community where the gender gap is a pressing issue, I was able to register a Public Organization called “Jahoni mo” - (Our world) and lead it. This was a huge success, and at the same time came with vast responsibilit

During my career as Am coordinator and PO Found in moving the AC to a larg but twice Moving to a lar that more programs will b more people’s lives will be was true: American Corne rebranded in 2018 to Ame (hereinafter AS), started o innovative programs such youth empowerment in th inclusion and STEM.

In 2021 when I was selected to participate in the Hubert H Humphrey program, which is a prestigious U S Department of State program, I realized that I was coming closer to my goalsempowering women and youth through STEM and professional development Ten amazing months at Penn State University enabled me to empower myself through graduate studies, professional development, leadership, and nonprofit management skills.

“I truly believe that through perseverance and dedication, one can achieve enormous success.”

Coming back to my home country with ambitious goals made me reevaluate my life and my professional goals for the next 5 years. This was the moment I decided to make crucial changes in my professional life - I made a hard decision to resign from the AS coordinator position and solely focus on public organization leveling up The 16 years I have spent shaping American Space Khujand elevated me both personally and professionally I am grateful for the opportunity I had as coordinator of this amazing program, as through this extensive period I made significant changes in the lives of thousands of people, which made me a content and confident leader in my field of expertise

Today thinking about how public organizations can be of more help to the community, I have developed a project and applied for funding for the Office of the Rover Ambassador of Finland for Central Asia, and been approved One more milestone has been achieved - more women and girls now have an opportunity to enhance their IT skills and well-being through this project.

I am also proud of the project that we run today for youth - robotics skills development. Through this project I am pioneering Tajikistan’s participation in the global stage. I am also excited to share that this year we encouraged more girls to be a part of this event, filling the gender gap in the field of STEM. My long-term goal as a nonprofit lead is to establish an ecosystem between private companies and local nonprofits to drive positive changes in the lives of our community members and beyond. I know there will be challenges and thorns along the way, however, I truly believe that through perseverance and dedication, one can achieve enormous success.

I love bringing up Dr Martin Luther King's quote: “Not everybody can be famous but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service ” My message for those out there who are not sure whether it is worth going for your dreams - you have a true potential to elevate yourself through your vision and dreams Every one of us has something unique that other people do not have We were born unique and our mission is to find this uniqueness and nurture it, so you can turn your wildest dreams into realistic goals that can be achieved Trust yourself and let it be!

Perfectionism Is A Serial Killer

How To Start Before You’re Ready

Ihad been planning to start a business for years and then one day I’d had enough I was sitting in my living room listening to a podcast on the topic of ‘fear and failure’ I was designing my website for the 100th time, most likely overthinking the colors and fonts for the 12th month in a row, when I heard this sentence “Perfectionism is a serial killer [ ] I don’t want to go to my grave with 50 unfinished pages in the drawer There’s enough of that in the world ” That, my friend, was the voice of reason and the author of Eat, Pray Love, and Big Magic, Elizabeth Gilbert.

Her words spoke to me and this was the day I realized perfectionism was killing me It was killing my creativity and my ability to take real action on what truly matters.

“Start taking action today.”

I decided this would be the year I stopped thinking and planning and only took action I had spent months if not years planning, planning and then planning some more on how to start a business I’d completely overthink, and overanalyze what sort of business I would start More often than not, I’d count for every single bump in the road and how it could go wrong then successfully talk myself out of it (Wo) Man! Was I good at that! Like many women, I was less encouraged by success and more discouraged by failure

I also believed that to start a business there were all these obstacles, and milestones I needed to achieve first. Instead of addressing what I truly wanted to do, I’d convince myself that I wasn’t quite good enough just yet and that I first needed to achieve x,y, and z

Unfortunately, this is not how the world works Because if it was ‘Wooo’ would I be here to tell you how I made my first million! In reality, I’m here to tell you the 5 things that helped me overcome perfectionism and start before I was ready

5 Things That Help You Start Before You’re Ready

1. Forgive Yourself For Where You Are Now

Of course, you don’t have all the answers when you first start. Nothing you create the first time around will be close to perfect Allow yourself to be in that place and know that everyone starting new creative projects feels the exact same way Learn to embrace imperfection

2. Give It 100% Of Your Available Capacity

No one can consistently operate on 100%, not even pro athletes So if today you’re at 25% then put 100% of that effort into your work. Doing a little bit of the right tasks every day will move your creative projects forward “Rome wasn't built in a day, but they were laying bricks every hour” - John Heywood, Playwright

3. Prioritize Your Rocks

Trying to fit rocks, pebbles, and sand into an empty jar is a frequently used metaphor for prioritization Your rocks are a metaphor for your most important tasks, and if you don’t start with them your less important tasks, your sand and pebbles, take up all the room So, if you have spent 2 months designing your logo and only 2 days building your audience, it’s time to re-prioritize and stop procrastinating due to perfectionism

4. Clarity Comes From Action

You can be like me one year ago and think and think and think some more, in the hope of achieving clarity Or you can start taking action today and gain clarity from what you learn and the actions you take

5. Stop Creating Hurdles

“Research shows that authentic self-expressiononline is linked to a greater sense of wellbeing.”

You don’t need to create a to-do list of the thousand other things you “have to do” (according to no one else but your imagination) BEFORE you can launch your creative project. You will never be an expert, because even if you have 10 years of experience, there’s going to be another person with 20 years that you’ll never catch up to

In the words of Marie Forleo, “Everything is Figuroutable” my friend So you might as well join me on this challenge of making the next 12 months your year of action The year you start before you’re ready (and don’t you dare wait until January)!
