Ihave learnt from my journey that life is filled with unpredictable twists and turns, but one thing remains constant - personal growth In the darkest nights and the fiercest storms, it serves as a guiding light, grounding us and propelling us towards our vision It took dedication to self-improvement to witness the transformative power of personal development in my own life
One common oversight among entrepreneurs is prioritising business pursuits over personal growth While striving to bring dreams to fruition, the essential aspect of investing in personal evolution is often neglected
One great quote I have kept hold of on my journey is, “Your talent may open doors, but it's your character that ensures you remain there.”
This speaks to me loudly and reminds me that yes, I have stepped into a position of influence and authority but now I have to not only maintain it but also continue on the path of growth.
Understanding the importance of personal development lays a foundation for empowerment. It involves refining skills, broadening horizons, and nurturing a resilient mindset. By embracing personal development, we unleash our untapped potential, ready to conquer any obstacle.
Personal growth is not a fleeting event or a distant destination but an ever-evolving, lifelong expedition of self-enrichment and self-realisation. Embracing this continuous process of self-improvement unearths hidden talents, ignites passions, and moulds a mentality that leads to success It paves the way for unparalleled greatness allowing you as a female entrepreneur to not only soar but also be able to have an uplift when you fall
“Personal growth is not a fleeting event or a distant destination but an everevolving, lifelong expedition of self-enrichment and selfrealisation.”
So, that being said, let's take a moment to embark on a reflective journey through the phases that paved the way for my personal growth - an enlightening voyage that shaped me into the woman I am today as I share with you 7 tips that have helped me along the way
Step 1: Self-Reflection and Awareness
Begin with self-reflection and self-awareness Understand your strengths, weaknesses, values, and aspirations Reflect on past experiences for insights into your personal growth journey. Self-awareness is the foundation for continuous improvement.
Step 2: Set Clear and SMART
Goals
Set clear, specific, and achievable goals Use the SMART criteria – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Well-defined goals provide direction and motivation
Step 3: Embrace a Growth
Mindset
Cultivate a growth mindset. View challenges as opportunities for learning, failures as stepping stones to success, and believe in your ability to develop new skills
A growth mindset fosters resilience, innovation, and willingness to step out of your comfort zone.
Step 4: Invest in Learning and
Development
Commit to lifelong learning Take courses, attend workshops, read books, and seek mentorship. Continuous learning enhances your expertise and keeps you adaptable in the ever-evolving business landscape
Step 5: Practice Self-Care
and Wellness
Prioritise self-care and well-being. Nurture your physical, mental, and emotional health through mindful practices Create a self-care routine that rejuvenates and replenishes your energy
Step 6: Seek Feedback and Reflection
Seek feedback from mentors, colleagues, and trusted individuals Reflect on feedback, assess progress, and iterate on strategies for continuous improvement
Step 7: Celebrate Progress and Milestones
Celebrate achievements, big and small Acknowledge progress, milestones, and accomplishments to boost confidence, motivation, and a sense of accomplishment.
In conclusion, personal growth and continuous improvement empowers entrepreneurial women to reach their fullest potential. By following these steps, you will have the ability to cultivate a mindset of growth, resilience, and excellence. I urge you to delve into your potential, welcome personal development with open arms, and witness the blossoming of your character as you strive for greatness.
As entrepreneurial women, we should always be seeking ways to evolve personally and professionally. The journey of personal development enables us to expand our horizons, break through barriers, and unlock our full potential

My son was three weeks old when my mom decided to land on us with a month-long visit I had not seen her for two years, and at first, welcomed the help We had recently moved into an old fixer-upper with very little charm The living room was still under renovation and partially covered with a tarp She marched across the dusty floor in her kitten heels, recoiled at the termite-riddled floor and demanded to know why there were no flowerpots in the windows From that point on, things got worse.
Today, I know boundaries are key to relationships. Having clear boundaries enables me to communicate my needs and get them met.
She was in our home only two hours when she grabbed the cleaning supplies and went head-tohead with the yellow stained bathtub, scrubbing years of grime away. My baby had barely finished nursing at my breast before she grabbed him, put him over her shoulder and burped him. She bitched incessantly about my husband to me behind his back, driving a wedge between him and I She was a force you couldn’t negotiate with, an avalanche of superiority
My love for my mom, for my husband and for my new baby boy was in conflict I was thrown back to the little girl who just wanted to please her mom Self-doubt swallowed me To win her approval, I worked tirelessly to placate and smooth over arguments However, in private, I swam in a pool of anger and resentment Why did she criticize everything I did as a wife and new mother? It took me three decades to find the answer
At the time, I had no weapons to fight her The word ‘no’ was not in my vocabulary Pushing back made me feel guilty I lost my voice in my desire to be the perfect new mom and get my mom’s approval I had zero boundaries How could I put boundaries in place with my mom when she had never shown me how? It was two horses that showed me a different way. Before meeting the two horses we would be working with, the coach prepared me for the encounter. She explained that horses are herd animals that must hone and maintain clear boundaries in order to survive. Horses learn to respect each other’s space from their mother. It’s called imprinting and starts right after birth.
I had always loved horses and was eager to become an equine assisted coach. As part of the training, I had to explore my own emotional wellbeing. The coach encouraged me to pay close attention to the sensations in my body as I interacted with the horses. She told me to ditch all expectations and be open to hatever emotions the horses stirred in me. She ned me you can’t lie to a horse.
I heard the loud neighing before I saw them My dy tensed with apprehension I didn’t know what to ect To calm myself, I tried focusing on the cool eze blowing through the magnolia trees and the thy smell of hay around me But all I could feel re the knots in my stomach, at the prospect of being exposed by a horse
As soon as the two horses, Simon and Petey, entered the round pen, where I waited, my anxiety disappeared, and curiosity took over By instinct I held out my arm to say hello Simon, tall and grey, wandered over and sniffed my hand We stood close together for several minutes My hands were on his neck, and I gently stroked his head His warm muzzle was like soft velvet The coach asked me how I felt in that moment I felt connected, accepted, and appreciated I lost myself in the moment and was thankful that the horse stayed with me
I didn’t notice the other horse, Petey, dark brown with a full black mane, striding tow us He pushed in between us, knocking me sideways with his large head A little shaken, I regained my footing and dusted myself down The coach, ever watchful, repeated her question, asking how I felt I told her Petey was rude It felt invasive
The coach had an interesting observation She noticed that while I connected in bliss with Simon, I failed to see the other horse coming towards us. Horses are keenly attuned to our energy, and they respond differently to passive, timid behavior compared to assertive, confident behavior. Petey didn’t pick up on my boundaries because I didn’t communicate any. So, he just kept coming.
The coach said that reflected my poor boundaries. It was a real ‘aha’ moment for me. It became clear to me that if I didn’t set boundaries, I would get knocked over. Lesson learned. Thanks to a ‘rude’ horse and a great coach. These two horses taught me everything about boundaries in one afternoon.
Today, I know boundaries are key to relationships Having clear boundaries enables me to communicate my needs and get them met Clear boundaries means I know what behavior I will and won’t accept I can’t wait for others to set my boundaries; I must set them to keep me safe My boundaries are my responsibility If I’d had better boundaries, I would have sent my mother packing after three nights instead of thirty

EEvaluatingYourPath: valuatingYourPath: Finding Clarity and Courage to Finding Clarity and Courage to Transform Your Life Transform Your Life
by Emily Cleghorn
Sometimes, it’s essential to take a step back and evaluate the situation before making any big decisions When it comes to transforming your life, especially as a mama healing from a traumatic past, it’s crucial to understand both where you are and where you want to be This reflection helps in finding the clarity and commitment needed to create meaningful change, rather than rushing into something without a clear goal in mind
Let’s take some time to explore what your life could look like if nothing changes and contrast it with the potential beauty of transformation
“If you continue down this path without making changes, you may find that your life remains stagnant.“
Staying the Same: A Life Unchanged
If you’ve grown up in a household filled with trauma or dysfunction, you’ve likely developed ways to protect yourself, like keeping others at arm’s length or avoiding vulnerability While these survival tactics might have served you in the past, they can also lead to a life that feels isolated and unfulfilling Perhaps, like many trauma survivors, you’ve convinced yourself that you’re fine as you are, and it’s everyone else who has the issues But deep down, you might sense that fear fear of being hurt or of failing is holding you back from truly moving forward
If you continue down this path without making changes, you may find that your life remains stagnant The anxiety, depression, and self-doubt could persist, and the dreams of a better future for yourself and your children might feel increasingly out of reach You may feel unseen, unheard, and stuck, living with the constant fear of becoming ‘one of the statistics’ you’ve worked so hard to avoid.
Embracing Change: A Vision for Transformation
Now, imagine what your life could look like if you fully commit to healing and transformation. What if you could truly believe in yourself and your worth? Picture waking up each day knowing that you have the power to accomplish whatever you set your mind to, without being held back by past traumas or others’ expectations
This transformation isn’t just emotional; it’s also physical When you address your emotional needs, you’re allowing your body to heal as well Chronic stress from living in a traumatic environment can lead to physical ailments, like hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, and mood disorders By processing your past and working through your triggers, you can start to alleviate these physical symptoms, creating a healthier and more balanced life
Visualize a life where you have reclaimed your voice and can set boundaries with confidence. You’re no longer afraid to ask for what you want or to speak your truth. You feel connected to others in a meaningful way, free from the fears that once kept you isolated. You’ve built a strong support system that cheers you on, allowing you to explore your passions and pursue your dreams without the heavy burden of past hurts
Taking the First Step
The decision to change isn’t easy, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly But the potential rewards a life of joy, connection, and selfempowerment are well worth the effort So, take a moment to reflect: What kind of future do you want for yourself and your children? Are you ready to let go of the past and step into a brighter, more fulfilling life?
This journey is about more than just surviving; it’s about thriving It’s about giving yourself permission to be happy, to be heard, and to be whole And most importantly, it’s about doing this for YOU, because you deserve it
Are you ready to embrace this transformation? The power to change your life is within you. Now, let’s take that first step together.

TransformingLives: How Women in Business Can Create a Global Impact
by Kirsty Carden
In today’s interconnected world, the role of women in business has evolved beyond traditional boundaries As women, we have the unique ability to influence change not just within our businesses, but on a global scale What if our impact could extend beyond our immediate circles to touch the lives of those who need it most? This is what I have done since 2020 when I became a sponsor and it is the vision behind Transform Live, an event I’m hosting on October 11th in London, where personal and business growth collide to create global impact
The Transformative Power of Education
The power of education to transform lives cannot be overstated. Yet, 129 million girls worldwide do not have access to education. This statistic represents millions of individual stories where lack of education leads to cycles of poverty, child marriage, sex work and so much lost potential. The impact of this extends beyond the girls themselves, affecting their families, communities, and future generations.
I know from personal experience how lifechanging access to education can be. At 16, I was sponsored to attend college, a pivotal moment that transformed my beliefs and future opportunities. Before then, I struggled in school and often felt inadequate, believing I wasn't capable of much. However, being in a supportive environment, surrounded by positive influences and mentors, changed everything I discovered I was dyslexic, which explained my struggles, yet I thrived achieving A grades and going on to further my education at university
This experience was a turning point in my life, shifting how I saw myself and my potential It empowered me to pursue my passions and build a successful coaching and training company, where I now focus on creating environments that help other women in business thrive
“As women in business, we are in a powerful position to drive change—not just for ourselves, but for those who lack the opportunities we have.”
The Role of Women in Business
As women in business, we are in a powerful position to drive change not just for ourselves, but for those who lack the opportunities we have. Our businesses can be forces for good, shaping not only our success but also creating lasting change in the world.
One of the most impactful ways we can make a difference is by supporting education for girls in underprivileged areas. Education is not just about learning it’s about empowerment, freedom, and the ability to break free from cycles of poverty and oppression. When we invest in girls’ education, we’re investing in a better future for all.
Creating Global Impact Through Business
In today’s digital age, businesses have unprecedented opportunities to create global impact. Social media platforms allow us to raise awareness, share resources, and support causes that matter As business owners, we can use these tools to amplify our voices and reach audiences far beyond our immediate circles
Imagine the collective impact if every woman in business used her platform to support the education of girls (for example) The ripple effect would be profound not just in the lives of the girls themselves, but in the communities they influence and the generations that follow
This belief is at the heart of Transform Live
On October 11th, I’ll be gathering like-minded women in London to transform their lives through personal and business growth to create a global impact All profits from Transform Live will support the education of disadvantaged girls in Mozambique, and next April, I will personally visit to witness the impact we’re making
Transform Yourself, Transform the World
The journey of personal and business growth is deeply intertwined with the impact we can have on the world around us. By investing in our development, we equip ourselves with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to lead with purpose and create real change.
But this transformation doesn’t end with us. As we grow, we have a responsibility to extend that growth to others whether through mentoring, the investments we make, or using our platforms to raise awareness. We have the power to create a global impact, and it starts with the choices we make in our daily lives and businesses.
The Power of Collective Transformation
Imagine the collective impact we can make when we come together not just for our own benefit, but for the benefit of those who need it most Transform Live is more than an event; it’s a call to action Together, we can truly transform our lives, our businesses, and the world
So, join me on October 11th in London for Transform Live Let’s make 2024 the year we not only reach our personal and business goals but also create a ripple effect of positive change that spans the globe Your journey of transformation begins here

TheDeeperMeaning ofSelf-Care: A Journey of Self-Love and Respect
by Ana Salido
Redefining Self-Care Beyond Pampering
In today’s fast-paced world, the concept of selfcare has become synonymous with pampering think bubble baths, face masks, and spa days
While these moments of indulgence are certainly enjoyable and can be a part of self-care, my journey has taught me that true self-care goes much deeper.
For me, self-care is an expression of self-love and respect, and it became a vital part of my life after I experienced a deep personal betrayal.
A Turning Point: The Betrayal That Changed Everything
A few years ago, I found myself at a crossroads.
My then boyfriend, someone I deeply cared for and trusted, he was my first serious relationship and we were together for 8 years, cheated on me.
The shock and pain of that betrayal left me feeling completely disempowered, as though the foundation I had built my life on had crumbled beneath me
I was left questioning everything my worth, my choices, and even my identity
I did not know who I was without him We met when I was only 16 years old and started my adult life with him
In the days and weeks that followed, I realised that something needed to change
But I also knew that this change couldn’t come from outside of me
It had to start from within
I had to rebuild myself from the ground up, and that’s when I truly began my journey into self-care
Self-Care as an Act of Self-Preservation
What I discovered along the way was that self-care wasn’t just about treating myself to occasional luxuries.
It was about nurturing a relationship with myself a relationship built on love, respect, and trust.
I started to see self-care as an act of selfpreservation, a way to honour my needs and validate my feelings.
One of the first things I did was to set boundaries something I had always struggled with in the past.
I realised that if I didn’t respect my own boundaries, I couldn’t expect others to I began to prioritise my well-being, saying no to things that drained my energy and yes to things that nourished my soul
This wasn’t easy at first; there were moments when I felt guilty or selfish
But over time, I began to understand that taking care of myself wasn’t just a luxury it was a necessity
The Connection Between Self-Care and SelfRespect
As I continued on this journey, I learned that selfcare is deeply intertwined with self-respect
It’s about recognising your worth and refusing to settle for anything less than you deserve
It’s about treating yourself with the same kindness and compassion that you would offer to a dear friend.
It’s about showing up for yourself, even on the days when you feel unworthy or unlovable.
Embracing Self-Love Through Self-Care
Self-care also became an act of self-love.
I started to embrace my imperfections and let go of the unrealistic standards I had held myself to for so long.
I began to celebrate my achievements, no matter how small, and to forgive myself for my mistakes. Through this process, I discovered a newfound sense of empowerment and self-worth.
A Transformative Journey
Looking back, I can see that the betrayal I experienced was a turning point in my life. It forced me to confront my deepest fears and insecurities, but it also gave me the opportunity to rebuild myself stronger and more resilient than before.
My journey into self-care has been transformative, and it’s a journey that I continue to walk every day.
The Power of Self-Care: A Message for Others
For anyone who is struggling with feelings of disempowerment or self-doubt, I want you to know that self-care is not just a superficial act it’s a profound statement of self-love and respect
It’s about taking the time to listen to your own needs, to honour your emotions, and to nurture the relationship you have with yourself
It’s about recognising that you are worthy of love, care, and respect no matter what you’ve been through
Conclusion: Embracing Self-Care as a Reflection of Self-Love
In a world that often tells us to put others first, I’ve learned that taking care of myself is the most important thing I can do
Because when I am strong, healthy, and grounded in self-love, I am better equipped to show up for others and to face life’s challenges with grace and resilience.
Self-care is not just something I do—it’s a reflection of who I am and the love I have for myself. And that, to me, is the most powerful form of self-care there is.

DitchtheDoubts: Strategies to Conquer Limiting Beliefs
by Alexandra Hill
In the journey of life, limiting beliefs can be the silent saboteurs that hold back even the most accomplished women. As an author, speaker, and life coach, I’ve seen firsthand how these beliefs can keep us stuck, while appearing to be keeping us safe and comfortable Much like a life preserver feels safe and maybe even necessary in turbulent watersover the long run, it often feels constricting and prevents us from truly swimming forward
Understanding Limiting Beliefs
The Impact of Limiting Beliefs on Growth and Success
Limiting beliefs are deeply ingrained thoughts that tell us “what we can't do, who we aren't, or what we don't deserve” They often stem from past experiences, societal expectations, or the fear of failure
In my Life Preserver Keynote talk, I use the metaphor of a life preserver to illustrate this point We cling to these beliefs as if they are factual, (and keeping is safe and afloat), but in reality, they can hinder us from exploring new horizons and achieving our fullest potential
Common Limiting Beliefs Among Entrepreneurial Women
For women who are authors, speakers, or business owners, limiting beliefs often manifest in ways that directly impact their professional growth. Some common ones include:
- “I'm not experienced enough to be seen as an expert.”
- “If I put myself out there, I'll face criticism or failure.”
- “I can't charge that much for my services; who would pay me?”
These thoughts can create self-imposed barriers that limit visibility, income, and opportunities. In my book, The Girlfriend's Guide to Empty Nesting, I discuss how these beliefs can affect women as they enter new phases of life, especially when they are trying to carve out new paths for themselves, much like in entrepreneurship
Limiting beliefs are not just abstract concepts; they have real consequences. A study by the National Association of Women Business Owners found that women entrepreneurs often undervalue their skills and set lower prices for their services compared to their male counterparts This disparity stems from deeply rooted beliefs about worth and capability When we allow these beliefs to dictate our actions, we miss out on opportunities for growth, visibility, and impact
Strategies for Overcoming Limiting Beliefs
Overcoming these beliefs requires conscious effort and consistent practice Here are four strategies that have helped me and many of my clients:
1. Identify and Challenge the Belief:
Start by writing down your limiting beliefs and ask yourself, “Is this really true?” or “Where did this belief come from?” Often, these beliefs are not based on facts but on assumptions and fears When I overcame my fear of water a metaphorical life preserver that held me back for years I realized that the fear was more about the stories I told myself than the actual experience of swimming. Challenge these beliefs by finding evidence that contradicts them.
2. Reframe Negative Self-Talk:
Negative self-talk is a major enforcer of limiting beliefs. Reframe statements like “I'm not experienced enough” to “I have valuable experiences that others can learn from”. This shift from a negative to a positive mindset allows you to see possibilities rather than limitations. For example, a client of mine shifted from thinking she couldn’t charge premium rates to understanding that her unique approach and personal touch were worth every penny
3.Take Small, Courageous Steps:
Growth doesn’t require grand gestures; it often begins with small, consistent steps that challenge your limiting beliefs If you fear public speaking, start with smaller, less intimidating opportunities, like local meetups or virtual workshops When I first began speaking, I started with smaller groups, which helped me build confidence over time Each small step helped me let go of the “life preserver” that was my fear of being judged
4. Build a Support Network:
Surround yourself with like-minded, supportive individuals who challenge and inspire you to push beyond your comfort zone. This community could be a mastermind group, a network of fellow authors and speakers, or an online community like the one I’ve cultivated on Instagram. A strong support network helps you stay accountable and motivated, reminding you that you are not alone in your journey.
Moving Forward with Confidence
Limiting beliefs will always exist, but they don't have to control your journey. Embrace the process of continuously challenging and evolving past these beliefs. Every time you step out of your comfort zone, you prove to yourself that you are capable of more than you ever thought possible As entrepreneurs, authors, and speakers, letting go of that metaphorical life preserver allows us to move toward new opportunities, growth, and fulfillment Recognizing and overcoming limiting beliefs is essential to unlocking new levels of success Start by journaling about your beliefs, seek out coaching, or engage with supportive communities Remember, the only thing standing between you and your next great leap is a belief that no longer serves you Trust in your ability to swim beyond it
“Growth doesn’t require grand gestures; it often begins with small, consistent steps that challenge your limiting beliefs.”

The Road to Nowhere: The Journey
Our childhood shapes our identity, teaching us how to connect with our caregivers and how to feel loved, heard, and seen For some, winning was the only way to gain attention, while others learned to prioritize others’ needs over their own
by Monica Pitek-Fugedi
At the time, I worked as a high school counselor in a school of about 2000 students The change in my appearance was going to be obvious My new descriptor would become “the lady with the headscarf” I could no longer hide behind my blonde hair
In my life, connection often meant invisibility As the youngest of three, with an alcoholic father and a codependent mother, I learned early on to be the perfect child one who required no extra attention. My achievements went unnoticed, and my struggles were kept silent.
I wasn’t taught confidence or resilience. My life became a tapestry of uncertainty, where I learned to shrink myself to fit into the narrow boxes set for me. Being invisible became my way of feeling connected, and I became very good at it.
Eventually, I shrank myself nearly into nonexistence. I didn’t highlight my achievements, and I kept my struggles to myself.
Identity Crisis: Because Who Doesn’t Want a Midlife Makeover?
Life doesn’t always afford us the luxury of blending into the wallpaper I found this out abruptly in 2017 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer Interestingly, it wasn’t the cancer that shook my world it was the chemotherapy and the realization that I would lose my hair
My hair was my armor Those golden locks were the curtain I hid behind to protect myself from the world and my place in it
I had spent so much of my life intentionally avoiding attention Being bald was not going to work for me I was going to stand out like a pink elephant in a room of white walls
My bald head was going to ‘out’ me Suddenly, people would realize I was just a big dumb-dumb who had nothing to offer I didn’t know how to exist in a world where people noticed me
I felt exposed and vulnerable.
I was bombarded with questions from so many people. I found myself constantly talking about my cancer. Not because I wanted to, but because it felt rude to ignore people who were simply trying to care.
I shared my anger, vulnerability, and exposure. What I found was that people started hearing their own stories in mine. Through these conversations, I realized how deeply connected we all are.
Throughout that year of cancer treatment, I began to live out loud and with intention. I started paying attention to what truly mattered to me. I prioritized my values and my time, ensuring that my energy wasn’t wasted on things that didn’t breathe life into me
Embracing Authenticity: Because Hiding My Feelings Was Getting Old
The most important lesson I learned is that I am valuable just as I am. I don’t need to shrink to make others feel tall. I don’t have to be silent for others to have a voice. There is room for all of us.
Above all, I learned that the most important connection I can have is the one with myself.
Cancer wasn’t the reason for my personal growth. I grew because I leaned into vulnerability and focused on living in alignment with my values.
When I finally embraced my authentic self, my entire trajectory shifted. Being a high school counselor no longer aligned with my values, so I quit my job and took a leap of faith, trusting that the net would appear.
And it did.
I’ve now owned my therapy practice for four years I’ve facilitated workshops, spoken at various events, and created workbooks and resources to help people manage their challenges and live authentic lives
My work feels like a passion project instead of a daily grind because what I do is in line with who I am
Personal growth doesn’t just happen when life forces us to stand up and take notice It happens when we intentionally take notice and choose to stand up
Growth can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time, with anything, if we are mindful and intentional
Personal growth is a powerful journey of embracing change, challenging your limits, and continually evolving into the best version of yourself
To explore ways in which to embrace your true self, I recommend reading the article Embracing Your Authentic Self by Emma Lewis

3 John 1:2: Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually]. My hope is that women live in this world, experiencing life from the inside out with goodness overflowing, inner healing, new beginnings, and reclaiming abundance.
Knowing who we are internally is a key component of abundant living. Let’s focus on four essential areas to women abundantly living inside out: Emotions, Communication, Thoughts, and Social Well-being
Emotions (Limbic System)
The limbic system, a complex network of interconnected brain structures, plays a pivotal role in regulating various aspects of human behavior and emotion while contributing to the processing of memory and motivation
These functions include but are not limited to emotional processing, memory formation, motivation, and the regulation of essential physiological functions such as stress responses, feeding, reproduction, and the fight or flight response
This system is a complex set of brain structures involved in emotion, motivation, memory, and behavior regulation Key components include the amygdala, hippocampus, thalamus, hypothalamus, basal ganglia, and cingulate gyrus.
Knowing what each component does in the context of this article is less important than being aware that the functions are vast
Although men and women's psychological functions are similar, they process thoughts, emotions, and behaviors differently
According to recent statistics, the global human gender ratio is about 1:1, with men slightly more than women. For every 100 women, there are 101.8 men, meaning that men account for 50.4% of the global population.
Women tend to feel their thoughts, while men are more concrete thinkers in black and white. When the two exchange communications, men generally process the facts/solutions, while women process the related emotions and their impacts.
Communication styles are distinctive patterns and techniques of individuals when conversing and conveying their messages. These styles go beyond the words chosen; they consist of our tone, body language, and overall approach to communication. By recognizing and understanding different communication styles, we gain valuable insights into our tendencies and those around us These styles can be categorized into various types, each with unique characteristics and impact on our relationships and interactions
Assertive communication is the most effective and balanced style Those with this style express themselves clearly, directly, and respectfully
Assertive communicators are skilled at setting boundaries, actively listening, and collaborating with others to find mutually beneficial solutions to conflicts
Aggressive communication focuses on personal needs and opinions at the expense of others
Aggressive communicators often use intimidation, anger, or hostility in sharing their viewpoints, sometimes resorting to shouting or personal attacks when confronted with differing opinions.
Passive communication is characterized by avoiding conflicts and prioritizing others’ needs and emotions over one's own. While this style is rooted in consideration and empathy, passive communicators often struggle to assert their desires or express themselves clearly.
Passive-aggressive communication blends elements of both passive and aggressive styles. Rather than directly addressing concerns, passiveaggressive communicators express their dissatisfaction indirectly, sometimes with sarcasm, backhanded compliments, or subtle sabotage. This may possibly create confusion and tension in interpersonal relationships, and a lack of transparency and accountability often marks it
Identifying and improving a communication style can be a game changer in having abundance.
Information and the Central Nervous System (CNS).
Your central nervous system consists of your brain and spinal cord It connects to your sensory and peripheral nervous systems and regulates everything your body does
The three primary functions of your central nervous system are to receive sensory information, process the information it receives (integration), and respond with motor output
After the brain receives and processes the data collected by sensory neurons (nerve cells), it sends an electrical signal through the spinal cord to the muscles and glands to create a motor output
When your brain sends signals to the inner parts of the body through your spinal cord, the body reacts to the signals, and you feel warm and gooey inside or cheer for your favorite sports team
“Your
beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.”
- John Locke
People who experience paralysis within parts of the CNS with disrupted functioning of various portions may require rehabilitation to regain functions. I love studying neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to restore or rewire itself when recognizing the need for adaptation The rewiring can continue developing and changing throughout life
When we think differently, we speak differently, and we behave differently
Neuroplasticity is the brain's plasticity [the quality of being easily shaped or molded), it allows for learning new skills, gathering, using the latest information, and recovering from brain injury.
John Locke (b. 1632, d. 1704) was a British philosopher, Oxford academic, and medical researcher who stated, “Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny ”
“When we think differently, we speak differently, and we behave differently.”

As a female entrepreneur, we wear so many different hats We have businesses to run, we take care of our families and clients, and then there’s our hormone cycles
And when you consider we have 6000 plus thoughts a day (1), is it any wonder that we can start to feel stressed, overwhelmed and disconnected?
If your nerves are starting to feel jangled by just reading this, I invite you to simply take a deep breath and come back to sensing into your body.
However, somatics is much more than this, as it looks at the four levels of our being – our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self - our ‘soma’ or living body (rather than our body from the head down).
Being a prolific ‘overthinker’, I know only too well how this can create huge stress and anxiety as thoughts can easily race into overdrive, and it can literally be a handicap!
But by dropping out of our heads and connecting back into those other parts of ourselves, we can start to process our thoughts, integrate and transform them
When we drop into our physical body, we ground our thoughts, and start to feel a sense of calm We begin our journey of embodiment
Take a moment to appreciate this hardworking body of yours that has carried you from A to B and got you to where you are now. Feel into the solidity of your body, the weighted bones of your skeleton, your blood pumping through your arteries, the air entering your lungs.
When you bring attention into your body, you are immediately connecting into your somatic being.
Ultimate Somatic Self-Care. Somatics has become a bit of a buzzword in recent wellness circles, and in a basic nutshell it is about understanding the science of our mind and body connection (3)
Our nervous system is a main communicator between our body and brain, so somatics may often talk about regulating our nervous system, and healing our trauma
And I will always advocate vitamin D for Dance as it is a powerful way to experience this, as it has been my personal medicine in life, giving me continual support, inspiration and joy
Dance is both a container and an outlet for our emotions, where we can give ourselves permission to freely express and channel our frustrations, anxiety, fears or nervous tension After all, we may not be able to change a situation, but we can always change how it affects us
And by coming into our bodies and moving, we gain a new perspective
“Somatics is not just about listening into our bodies. It is in essence about bringing a deeper awareness to ourselves, and also of acceptance.”
"We are individual and unique beings, but somatics also reminds us that we are connected as a whole, not just to our womanhood, but to our humanity."
We also connect into our spiritual body that reminds us that there is something more in the world, the bigger picture. We drop out of our busy Beta brainwaves into Alpha – Delta, the brainwave state of meditators, where we gain fresh perspectives, to expand and broaden our vision. (2)
In fact when we move and dance, we bring new oxygen to the brain and it expands our neural pathways - our brains literally grow in neurogenesis. This paves the way for more creative and ‘divergent’ thinking We become more resilient, able to navigate challenges and setbacks with more ease
And by the way, this has nothing to do with looking like Jennifer Beals in Flashdance, or the dancers in Strictly Come Dancing
This is about coming home to yourself
How often do you truly listen to the messages from your body? Listening to our gut is very important and real, and children are much more attuned to their intuition and sixth sense
It is almost as though we get numbed by our responsibilities as we enter into the serious world of adulthood, where we are honed by academic systems that still favour our logical left-brain thinking
Often, we don’t listen to our bodies until they start to complain when we haven’t taken care of ourselves
However, somatics is not just about listening into our bodies. It is in essence about bringing a deeper awareness to ourselves, and also of acceptance.
Helene Su
Accepting all the idiosyncrasies and nuances that make us who we uniquely are, including all the parts that we might feel are unloveable.
We are individual and unique beings, but somatics also reminds us that we are connected as a whole, not just to our womanhood, but to our humanity
I have condensed a lot of information into this article, so if it feels too much, then just take a deep breath in and feel that breath coming into your body Release that breath into the earth
Welcome to a gentle coming home

Have you ever found yourself hesitating to take a step forward in life, even when deep down you know you are fully capable? You tell yourself, “I’m not ready,” or “I’m just not good enough.” These quiet, persistent voices can feel like they’re just part of who we are, but what if I told you they’re not?
Let’s say you have a limiting belief that says, “I’m not smart enough to start my own business ” I want you to pause and ask yourself, *“Says who?”*
Limiting beliefs are those deeply ingrained thoughts and patterns that act as invisible chains, keeping us from stepping into our full potential. The good news? You are not your limiting beliefs, and breaking free from them is not only possible it’s essential to living a life of purpose, power, and possibility.
In my work as a transformational life and empowerment coach, I’ve witnessed countless women discover just how much potential was waiting inside them, buried beneath layers of doubt, fear, and old stories that no longer serve them The journey from self-limitation to selfempowerment is a path we can all take and today, I want to walk you through the process
Recognize the Root of Your Beliefs
The first step in breaking free from limiting beliefs is understanding where they come from Most limiting beliefs are not born within us they are adopted, often unknowingly, through external influences These influences can come from childhood experiences, societal expectations, or even casual comments made by others that get lodged in our subconscious
Ask yourself:
*What do I believe about myself?*
*Where did these beliefs come from?*
When we dig beneath these thoughts, we often find they’re not based on fact or logic but are instead tied to fear fear of failure, fear of rejection, or fear of stepping out of the comfort zone The truth is, you don’t need to have everything figured out to take the first step What you do need is the courage to challenge your old narrative.
One of my favorite tools for this is reframing. When you catch a limiting belief creeping in, try flipping it around. Instead of thinking, *“I’m not smart enough,”* try *“I’m smart enough to figure this out, one step at a time.”* When you change your thoughts, you change your reality.
Visualize Your Limitless Self
If you could step into a version of yourself free from limitations, what would she look like? How would she speak, act, and show up in the world? Take a few moments to close your eyes and visualize that woman fully confident, empowered, and living her life with intention.
Visualization is a powerful tool in overcoming limiting beliefs because it helps rewire your brain to see yourself as capable of more When you picture yourself succeeding, your mind begins to build new neural pathways that align with this empowered version of you Suddenly, what once seemed impossible feels a little more attainable
*Are they even true?*
So often, we cling to these beliefs as though they are part of our identity, but they are nothing more than old stories that need to be rewritten. For example, you might believe you’re “not good with money” because of something you were told growing up. Or perhaps you’ve convinced yourself you’re not leadership material because of a few past failures.
But let me be clear: Your past does not define your future. The beliefs you hold about yourself today can change. And they must change if you want to unlock your full potential.
Challenge the Narrative
Once you’ve identified your limiting beliefs, the next step is to challenge them head-on Every time you find yourself thinking, *“I can’t,”* ask yourself, *“Is this really true?”*
Make visualization a daily practice Spend just five minutes each day imagining yourself achieving your goals and breaking free from the fears that have held you back The more you can feel and see this future version of yourself, the more natural it will become to take actions that align with her
Surround Yourself with Empowerment
You’ve heard the saying, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” If you want to break free from limiting beliefs, it’s crucial to surround yourself with people who support your growth and vision. People who lift you up, challenge your excuses, and remind you of your brilliance when you forget.
Take a close look at your circle are the people in your life encouraging your dreams or reinforcing your doubts? It might be time to set some boundaries with those who perpetuate your limiting beliefs, even if they mean well
Likewise, find mentors, coaches, or communities of like-minded women who are on the same path of empowerment When you surround yourself with those who are breaking through their own limits, it inspires you to do the same
Take Imperfect Action
Here’s the truth: You don’t need to have everything figured out before you take action
So many women hold themselves back because they feel like they need to be 100% ready before they make a move But guess what? Perfection is a myth, and waiting for the perfect moment will only keep you stuck
The key to breaking through limiting beliefs is to start taking action *now* even if it feels messy, even if you’re scared, even if you’re not sure what the outcome will be. The simple act of taking a step forward, no matter how small, begins to dismantle the limiting beliefs holding you back.
I often say, “Action breeds clarity.” The more you take action, the more you’ll learn about yourself, what you’re capable of, and what you truly want. And with each step, you’ll find those old beliefs start to lose their grip.
“Your past does not define your future. The beliefs you hold about yourself today can change. And they must change if you want to unlock your full potential.”
Celebrate Your Wins
Finally, don’t forget to celebrate your progress Every time you break through a limiting belief no matter how big or small it’s a victory worth acknowledging Too often, we rush on to the next goal without taking time to appreciate how far we’ve come
Take time to celebrate each step forward, and let that momentum fuel your journey to greater empowerment The more you celebrate your wins, the more your confidence grows, and the more unstoppable you become
Embrace Your Full Potential
The process of breaking free from limiting beliefs isn’t always easy, but it’s worth every ounce of effort When you choose to rewrite the narrative of your life, you open yourself up to a world of possibility You unleash the power that has always been within you, just waiting to be set free
Remember, you are not defined by your doubts or fears. You are powerful, capable, and deserving of a life filled with purpose, passion, and success. It’s time to break free from the chains of limitation and step into the fullness of who you are.
Your potential is limitless. Go live YOUR incredible!

Soulful Success Habits: The Top 3 Habits Every Woman in Business Must Master for Soulful Success
by Christine Williams
Ladies, let’s get real We all know the grind the long hours, the ceaseless to-do lists, and the constant balancing act of being both a trailblazer and a nurturer But here’s a truth that can’t be overlooked: The path to success isn’t paved with just strategic plans and hard work It’s also about the soulful growth that happens within As your soulful business coach, I’m here to guide you through the top three habits that will not only elevate your business but also empower you to achieve unstoppable success Ready to dive in? Let’s go!
1. Cultivate Unshakable Self-Confidence
Picture this: You walk into a room, be it a networking event, or a live on social media, and you radiate an aura of confidence. That’s the power of unshakable self-confidence. It’s not merely about believing in your business; it’s about believing in yourself.
Why It Matters:
“The path to success isn’t paved with just strategic plans and hard work.”
Self-confidence fuels your ability to take bold risks, make tough decisions, and influence others. It’s the spark that ignites your potential and inspires others to believe in you. But here's the kicker: Confidence doesn’t come from a single achievement or accolade. It’s built through consistent self-belief and self-acceptance. We often think that we have to have the confidence FIRST. But it’s actually the other way around We grow confidence by taking action consistently and from within but choosing who we are be-ing
How to Cultivate It:
Daily Alignment Practice: Me and my clients tart each day with choosing the energy we want to be in and supporting that with 3-5 beliefs that reinforce your strengths and successes This sets you up for an abundant mindset and solidifies your belief in yourself and what’s possible You can grab a copy of what we use HERE
Celebrate Small Wins: Recognize and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small Each victory is a step toward building greater confidence and success Create a WIN streak by writing down 3 wins each day By focusing on your wins, you put yourself in the energy of abundance, instead of lack
Surround Yourself with Positivity: Connect with people who uplift and inspire you Their energy helps reinforce your own self-belief and boosts your confidence. It really matters. So choose the rooms and people you spend time with wisely.
Confidence is a continuous journey. It’s about acknowledging your worth and trusting your instincts. When you exude confidence, you attract others and open doors for your business to thrive.
2. Master the Art of Work-Life Integration
Why It Matters:
Let’s face it achieving a perfect work-life balance is often a myth and leaves us feeling like we’ve fallen short. Instead, aim for work-life integration, blending your personal and professional lives in a way that feels harmonious and fulfilling. When you focus on work-life integration, you enhance both your productivity and well-being A balanced approach reduces stress, prevents burnout, and allows you to show up as your best self in both your business and personal life
How to Achieve It:
Create Your Freedom Calendar: Clearly define work hours and personal time Use tools like digital calendars to block off time for both work and personal activities Block out your family priorities first, and then schedule your business tasks around them That puts your life and relationships first so they don’t get lost in the shuffle You can watch how we do this inside the Whitespace Workshop here
Prioritize Self-Care: Make self-care a nonnegotiable part of your routine Whether it’s a morning meditation, an evening walk, or a beloved hobby, ensure you allocate time for activities that recharge you. And get them on your calendar. If it's not scheduled, it won’t happen.
"A growth mindset transforms obstacles into learning experiences and failures into stepping stones."
Delegate and Outsource: Don’t hesitate to delegate tasks, outsource work or ask for help I know you want to be superwoman, but we are not meant to do this all on our own It’s a strategic move that frees up your time and energy for more meaningful work so you can stay in your zone of genius and spend more time on personal pursuits
Work-life integration is about creating a lifestyle where personal and professional aspects coexist in a way that brings joy and satisfaction Finding your unique balance is key to long-term success and happiness
3. Develop a Growth Mindset
This is probably one of the most important things you can do. 85% of your success comes from your mindset and the beliefs you put on repeat. When you adopt the philosophy that challenges and setbacks are opportunities for success, you stay focused on solutions instead of the problems. A growth mindset is essential for navigating the ups and downs of entrepreneurship and continually evolving both personally and professionally. It allows you to have the emotional resilience that is essential in the roller coaster ride of building a business.
Why It Matters:
A growth mindset transforms obstacles into learning experiences and failures into stepping stones. It fosters resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to self-improvement qualities vital for long lasting success
How to Cultivate It:
1
Embrace Challenges: See challenges as opportunities to learn and grow When facing difficulties, ask, “What is the gift in this?” instead of “Why is this happening to me?” Then ask “How can I leverage this as an opportunity ” You’ll find better solutions this way.
2. Invest in Learning: Continuously seek knowledge and skills that enhance your personal and professional development. Attend workshops,
Seek Mentorship: We can’t read the label when we are inside the bottle. Surround yourself with mentors and peers who can offer valuable insights and support to help you move forward and reduce the time that it takes for your success.
3. read books, and take courses aligned with your goals. Your personal development cascades into your clients and helps the people who you are here to serve.
Developing a growth mindset is about shifting your perspective and embracing the journey of continuous improvement. It enables you to face setbacks with resilience and pursue your goals with positivity and innovation You can download my free handout “Empowered Leadership Manifesto” here
Final Thoughts
For women growing a business, the journey is not just about strategy and execution; it’s a soulful adventure of personal growth By focusing on the inner game of having a growth mindset, cultivating unshakable selfconfidence, mastering work-life integration, you set yourself up for not only success but extraordinary fulfillment and joy in both your business and life
Your potential is limitless, and the path to success comes first and foremost by the inner work you do Surround yourself with a supportive network, seek out mentorship, and never underestimate the power of believing in yourself

A 7 figure woman owned company dedicated to empowering women coaches + wellness professionals to create soul-led and heart-centered 6-figure businesses, without the hustle and sales tactics that feel so out of alignment for many women
When embarking on the journey of personal development, I immersed myself in a world of courses, seminars, and insightful readings, guided by an array of esteemed doctors, coaches and mentors. Knowledge, I thought, was the key to unlocking personal growth and therefore my ultimate happiness. The truth unveiled itself when I had a complete emotional, mental and physical breakdown: knowledge alone is not transformative.
Transformation occurs when knowledge deeply connects with our core being and integrates into our daily lives.
This integration of learning demands courage, especially when we find ourselves encased in the familiar patterns of an unfulfilling life. The very act of confronting and reshaping these entrenched realities can be daunting Despite what appears to be a picture-perfect life externally, there lies an unmistakable truth: dissatisfaction, dullness, and a profound feeling of being lost can take root, even during moments when, by all outside measures, we "should" be happiest
For many women, the pursuit of personal development becomes a solo endeavor, where knowledge is amassed but not translated into meaningful change This disconnect often results in a life that, while appearing successful, feels empty and unfulfilled
Countless women find themselves grappling with not only emotional and mental exhaustion but also chronic physical diseases, autoimmune disorders and overwhelming fatigue borne from stress and burnout This pervasive discontentment often becomes a breeding ground for a host of ailments a situation that has become epidemic.
Despite the allure of self-help books and seminars, without truly integrating insights into the depths of one's own essence, transformation remains an elusive dream
Instead of igniting change, these resources can leave a trail of unmet expectations and disenchantment, revealing a journey not fully traveled, not to mention wasted resources of time, money and energy
When seeking transformation, many embark on the journey guided by coaches and mentors, only to find that the majority of offerings are cookie-cutter solutions, not tailored to individual needs. Even renowned industry leaders can fall short, leaving one pondering:
Who do you trust?
Finding a coach who resonates with personal values and truly understands your individual challenges is crucial.
Simply choosing a program based on popular acclaim or flashy promotions may not yield the desired impact. It requires someone who sees beyond the surface, ensuring that their guidance aligns with your authentic self and your unique life context. Choosing a trusted coach and mentor paves the road for sustainable, meaningful growth
Within the sphere of self-directed learning, we hold incredible power to know ourselves intimately and harness that knowledge toward self-empowerment By utilizing self-knowledge, individuals can reconnect with their inherent wisdom, leveraging their inner strengths to forge a path uniquely their own
Equally important in this process is the role of community
A community offers encouragement, holding members accountable, sparking motivation during lows, and amplifying joys during victories This collective energy helps prevent reverting to old habits and instills a sense of belonging an essential catalyst for lasting change.
Together, a trustworthy coach, self-driven empowerment, and a supportive community provide the scaffolding for transformation offering a pathway that isn't just a dream but a lived experience marked by genuine connection and purpose.
Building on the foundation of selfknowledge and empowerment, working with a life strategist can further amplify the effectiveness of your journey. A life strategist curates a network of top experts and provides tailored recommendations, ensuring that every bit of your time, money, and energy is maximized.
With a bird's-eye view of your life’s overarching narrative, a strategist identifies patterns and gaps you might not see, providing clarity and direction when uncertainties cloud your vision By referring you to coaches who truly align with your needs, your self-growth unfolds seamlessly, supported by the best guidance and wisdom available
In the pursuit of personal development, the power resides not just in seeking knowledge but in the profound integration of learning into our daily existence It's about resonating with our inner essence, fueled by courage and determination to break free from those entrenched patterns holding us back It’s about DECIDING your life is worth investing in

“Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. It requires a balanced blend of grit and passion.”
Starting a business takes grit Establishing and thriving in a business demands determination, passion, and a genuine calling When you first embark on this path, you’ll encounter two types of responses: enthusiastic congratulators, also known as the cheerleaders, and, of course, the skeptics Both are crucial The support fuels your motivation, while the doubters push you to prove them wrong and to reevaluate and refine any weak points in your business strategy.
In my experience, the key to thriving isn’t just in starting a business it’s in saying “yes!” to personal growth, opportunities, and open doors, all while understanding your bandwidth and boundaries. This delicate balance is the essence of entrepreneurial success.
After college, I took the leap and started freelance work. As my client base grew, I was able to open my digital marketing agency in Houston. Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to lead a team of seven talented consultants, working with over 350 clients from small startups to Fortune 500 companies. It all began with me saying yes to client opportunities while steadily building my portfolio and skill set.
The Power of Saying
“Yes!”
Saying yes has been the cornerstone of my entrepreneurial journey Yes to new ideas, yes to challenging projects, and yes to opportunities that stretched my abilities Each “yes!” led to personal and professional growth, sometimes in very unexpected ways
For instance, one of my early clients was a small bakery struggling to get its name out there I didn’t have all the answers at first, but I said yes and dove into the project Through trial and error, I learned valuable lessons about social media marketing, SEO, and customer engagement That experience was not only a successful service to my client, but also the foundation for the success I’ve built today
Finding Your Grit and Passion
Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. It requires a balanced blend of grit and passion. Grit is what keeps you going when the going gets tough, and trust me, it will. Passion is what fuels your drive and keeps you excited about your work.
When I launched Elevate x Marketing, I faced numerous challenges There were days when I questioned my decisions, felt overwhelmed by the workload, and faced rejections from potential clients But it was my grit that kept me pushing forward and my passion for digital marketing that made the journey worthwhile
The Importance of Boundaries
While saying “yes!” has been vital to my success, knowing when to say “no” has been equally important. As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to fall into the trap of overcommitting and stretching yourself too thin. This can lead to burnout and negatively impact your business.
I learned this lesson the hard way. In the early days of my business, I said “yes” to every client and project that came my way. It wasn’t long before I found myself working around the clock, neglecting my personal life, and feeling utterly exhausted and defeated. I realized that to maintain my business and my sanity, I needed to set clear boundaries. Some boundaries are in the form of strict hours of operations, while others include being consciously mindful of your bandwidth
Now, I prioritize projects that align with my goals and values I’ve learned to delegate tasks to my team and to say “no” to opportunities that don’t serve my long-term vision This balance allows me to give my best to my clients and maintain a healthy work-life balance
If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.”
-Richard Branson
Embracing Personal Growth
Entrepreneurship is a continuous journey of personal growth Every challenge and setback is an opportunity to learn and grow It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing new experiences
One of the most significant moments of personal growth for me was when I decided to start a Women in Business organization in college It was a daunting task, filled with logistical challenges and uncertainties But the experience taught me valuable leadership skills, the importance of networking, and the power of community
Today, I carry those lessons with me as I lead my team at Elevate x Marketing I strive to create an environment where my consultants can grow and thrive, as have a community of women who “get it”
The Journey Ahead
As I look back on my journey, I’m grateful for every “yes” that led me here. Each step, no matter how small, was a building block toward my success.
For aspiring entrepreneurs, my advice is simple: Embrace the “yes!” Say yes to opportunities that scare you, to projects that challenge you, and to experiences that grow you. But also remember to set boundaries and prioritize your well-being. Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint, and finding that balance is key to long-term success.
In the end, it’s about finding your passion, embracing the journey, and never losing sight of your goals The road to success is rarely straightforward, but with grit, determination, and a willingness to say “yes!” you can achieve great things So, here’s to the journey, to the yes!, and to the endless possibilities ahead

My Love/Hate Relationship with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aka Pink October
by Liz Benditt
Which
is a tricky month for breast cancer patients and survivors alike Local fountains will spew pink water, landmarks will be draped in pink banners, and sports teams will swap out standard jerseys with hot pink t-shirts. The message is loud and clear: October = BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH.
Certainly if all this pink stuff helps women remember to schedule their annual mammograms and pink décor and t-shirts save lives, I’m ALL IN. But – at least for me, as a breast cancer survivor –Pink October is a rough month. I don’t actively LIKE being reminded of the misery of my treatments, and in some weird way, all the pinkness throws a lot of pressure on us breast cancer survivors to show up and be spunky. We’re expected to grin and brag about how cancer can’t keep us down, we’re FIGHTERS. And while that is absolutely true – we ARE warriors – the expectation to perform the role of PINK SURVIVOR can be a lot
It’s one of the reasons I’m not a fan of ‘kicking cancer’ tote bags and coffee mugs They might be good for folks once they are DONE with their treatments and on the road to recovery but they can be hugely problematic for patients in the middle of treatment, hurting, exhausted, and mentally drained
“We’re expected to grin and brag about how cancer can’t keep us down, we’re FIGHTERS. And while that is absolutely true – we ARE warriors – the expectation to perform the role of PINK SURVIVOR can be a lot.”
Those t-shirts and tote bags are not always inspirational. In fact, they can be the opposite –like pressure-filled pointer fingers, making patients feel the need to appear sunny and cheerful when they feel anything but. They imply a sort of expectation for patients to be a picture perfect rockstar spouting motivational quotes and dancing to TikTok videos. Sure, there will certainly be a small portion of patients who love that stuff and genuinely find it meaningful – but be careful –most of us do not How do I know? We ASKED patients about this exact dynamic in our 2020 market research and the results were loud and clear – the vast majority of cancer patients do NOT want or like cancer-themed motivational gear
If you are a breast cancer patient or survivor this Pink October – hang tight – it’s 31 days long But the good news is that you’re rewarded with miniature Hershey bars and candy corn on the last day of the month!
And if you are an adjacent member of the club (friends and family members of breast cancer patients) – maybe think twice before outfitting yourself head to toe in pink this month There are far better ways to support cancer patients – of course our favorite is to buy them a Balm Box! But, cards, messages, meals, cleaning the kitchen, running a load of laundry, and making grocery runs are going to be far more meaningful and appreciated than pink t-shirts and tote bags.
Happy Pink October everyone – we can do this!

Building a Business That Works for You:
by Gigi Diaz GiGiDiaz’sJourneyfromMedia StartoEmpoweringCoach
My journey from a child star in Cuba to a successful Media and Business Coach in the United States has been nothing short of transformative Growing up in Cuba, I was immersed in the world of media from an early age, performing on children’s shows with a passion for dance and singing When my family moved to the U S when I was aged 10, I found myself thrust into a new culture and language, but also into exciting new opportunities.
Upon arriving in the U.S., I was fortunate to receive a scholarship with Univision’s *Sabado Gigante* This opportunity allowed me to continue my training in dance, acting, and public speaking, which I carried through my teen years. Performing on various shows and appearing in commercials for brands like Frosted Flakes gave me invaluable experience and a solid foundation in media
After graduating high school, I opened my first business, GiGi's Dance Academy. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in September 2023 was a milestone that reflected both the challenges and triumphs of running a business During my time managing the academy while pursuing my college education, I continued my broadcasting work, balancing multiple roles as a producer, behind the scenes, and on-air with companies like Radio Disney, iHeartRadio, AmericaTeVe and many others But the intense pressure and workload eventually led to a severe burnout during my master’s degree studies. I ended up in the hospital. This was a wake-up call for me. The moment that would change everything I believed about work, success and making dreams come true
That period of my life was a turning point It made me realize that working hard alone wasn’t necessarily the path to success. Instead, it’s about working smart, setting clear goals, and taking intentional steps towards achieving them I knew I needed to make changes, so I embarked on a journey of unlearning old habits and healing I hired a coach to help me restructure my life, and the impact was profound. This experience ignited a passion within me to help other women navigate similar challenges
I earned my Coaching Certification at the University of Miami and soon after founded Seizing Happy®. Over the past 7 years, I’ve dedicated myself to helping hundreds of women entrepreneurs break free from burnout, achieve substantial success, and find balance in their lives My approach combines my extensive media background with over two decades of entrepreneurial experience and additional coaching certifications I combine business coaching with life coaching so we support the business and the woman behind the business equally. My goal in Seizing Happy® is to always make sure that the women I coach never need to sacrifice their family or well-being to achieve their greatest dreams
What I find most fulfilling is witnessing the transformation of my clients. Seeing someone go from feeling stressed and overwhelmed to becoming confident, calm, and highly profitable is incredibly rewarding The ripple effect of these changes often extends into their personal lives, positively impacting their roles as mothers, daughters, and friends. One of my most memorable moments was when a client sent me a screenshot of a 60% increase in sales just three months into our work together Later that same week, she reached out to tell me how our focus on setting boundaries had made her a better mother to her son. These moments highlight the profound impact that thoughtful, strategic coaching can have on both professional and personal lives
“Success is not solely about working harder but about working with intention and aligning your efforts with your true desires.”
“Transformation is always possible, and with the right guidance and mindset, you can achieve extraordinary success while maintaining balance and well-being.”
One piece of actionable advice I would give to women entrepreneurs who are struggling to balance business growth with personal well-being is to start by gaining clarity on the life you want to live Often, we focus on building our business first and end up with structures that don’t support the lifestyle we desire. Instead, I encourage you to reverse engineer your dream life into your business model By building your business structure around the life you want to live, you ensure that your business works for you, not the other way around. This approach allows you to create a business that aligns with your personal goals and helps you achieve a fulfilling and balanced life
My own journey has taught me that success is not solely about working harder but about working with intention and aligning your efforts with your true desires The challenges I faced and overcame have shaped my approach to coaching, and I’m passionate about helping others navigate their own paths with greater ease and joy.
As I reflect on my journey, I’m grateful for the experiences that have led me to where I am today From my early days in media in Cuba to the highs and lows of running a business and finally finding my calling as a coach, every step has contributed to my growth and my ability to support others. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that transformation is always possible, and with the right guidance and mindset, you can achieve extraordinary success while maintaining balance and well-being.
So, to all the aspiring entrepreneurs out there: take the time to define what success means to you personally, and build your business to support that vision Remember, your business should enhance your life, not dictate it. Embrace the journey with intention and courage, and you’ll find that achieving your dreams is not only possible but profoundly rewarding

Transformational Business Retreats with a Spiritual Twist
In today’s fast-paced world, the idea of taking time away from our daily grind to focus on ourselves especially for women in business often feels like a distant dream I, too, was once someone who held on to the belief that I couldn’t possibly take two weeks off because, surely, everything would fall apart, right?
I’m not alone in that belief Society has long conditioned women to prioritize everything else before themselves, leading to feelings of guilt when considering self-investment and making the clichéd ‘me-time’ sound like an indulgence. However, there’s a growing recognition of the profound impact that dedicated time away in a nurturing environment can have on both personal and professional growth. Doing less can sometimes be the missing piece.
This is where retreats, blending business and wellness with a spiritual element, come into play, offering women an opportunity not just to recharge but to deeply transform. And yet, these retreats are so much more than just retreats they can often be life-changing experiences that transcend the professional sphere, touching every aspect of a woman’s being
The Hesitation: Overcoming the Guilt of Self-Investment
Many women find it difficult to justify investing time, money, and energy into something that doesn't directly benefit their families, clients, or businesses The guilt associated with taking time for oneself often leads to hesitation when considering wellness or spiritual retreats. This hesitation is not unfounded; it’s often rooted in old conditioning or the belief that we don’t deserve or are not worthy of such an investment and it’s not just about the money.
The paradox is that by continually putting others first, women risk depleting their own energy and creativity, leading to burnout and a sense of disconnection from their true purpose We get stuck in the do-do-do and the hustle, too busy to even think about what’s missing.
This is where a transformational retreat comes in, offering a space where women can finally put busyness on ice, hit pause and after a few days, start enjoying it without guilt. By investing in your own well-being, you become a better leader, partner, parent, boss, and business owner.
But beyond that, you reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been neglected, lost, or forgotten, rediscovering the passions, dreams, and desires that fuel not just your business, but your life. I remember stepping out of my first week-long retreat and feeling like I’d spent two months in a space capsule It blew my mind how invigorated I felt
The Retreat Cocoon: Arriving as Strangers, Leaving as Friends
When you find the right retreat with a spiritual element that blends professional development with deep personal growth, you’re in for a transformative journey Women often arrive at these retreats with preconceived notions of what they might experience perhaps expecting a typical business seminar or a weekend of quiet reflection What they find, however, is something far more enriching, something that touches their souls in ways they might not have anticipated and often they become very emotional. From the moment they step into the retreat space, there’s a palpable energy of possibility. Women, who initially may feel like strangers, quickly find common ground in shared experiences, challenges, and aspirations. You suddenly feel like you can drop your guard, and your whole nervous system takes a giant exhale. A great retreat fosters a sense of sisterhood, where the usual barriers of competition and comparison dissolve, replaced by mutual support and encouragement. The connections that form are not merely professional; they are often deep, soulful connections that tap into the very essence of what it means to be a woman in today’s world a woman striving for balance, fulfillment, and purpose in every aspect of her life. You can make friends for life.
Workshops and sessions are designed to nurture both the business and the soul, allowing participants to explore new ideas, strategies, and tools that invigorate their work. At the same time, the spiritual aspects of the retreat whether through meditation, guided journaling, dance, art, or group discussions encourage introspection, helping women reconnect with their inner selves and remember what they truly desire. A retreat becomes a sanctuary, a sacred space where women can shed the roles they play in their daily lives and simply be themselves, free from judgment and expectation. Some retreats incorporate breathwork, hypnotherapy, and somatic practices that tap into the subconscious, inviting participants to break long-forgotten limiting beliefs and experience lasting breakthroughs.
Receive a Holistic Transformation
While the professional benefits of these retreats are significant, the true magic lies in the holistic transformation that occurs if you allow yourself to surrender. A retreat is not just a break for your business it’s a retreat for your entire being It’s a journey that reaches into the deepest corners of your soul, awakening parts of you that have been dormant, healing wounds you may not have known existed, and empowering you to live more authentically and fully.
I was deeply touched by my first retreat, and it opened up things I hadn’t thought about in years I had been too busy to address them and had pushed them away. When I emerged, it impacted my relationships, my self-perception, and profoundly enhanced my overall well-being I returned home with renewed life-force, bubbling with new ideas and clarity.
A retreat becomes a catalyst for profound personal growth, leading to changes in how women approach their lives, work, and relationships They leave the retreat with a sense of empowerment, knowing that they are capable of achieving not just professional success, but a life that is rich, meaningful, and aligned with their deepest values
Clarity Is the Ultimate Takeaway
Many women enter a retreat feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or disconnected from their true goals as well as their bodies Through the combination of business strategy and spiritual exploration, they leave with newfound clarity that guides their actions moving forward. This clarity is not just about understanding what they want to achieve in their business, but also about understanding why they want to achieve it By aligning their business goals with their deeper values and purpose, women are able to create more meaningful and impactful work, leading to greater fulfillment, as their business becomes a true reflection of who they are and what they stand for
Many women continue to commit time and resources to their growth after attending a retreat most make a retreat a fixed part of their annual calendar and budget

Why It’s Worth the Investment
The investment in a retreat like this is not just a payment for a vacation or a long weekend away; it’s an investment in your future both professionally and personally Investing in yourself is not just an act of self-care; it’s an act of empowerment. It’s about recognizing your value, your growth, and the power of your unlimited potential The deep transformation that occurs cannot be overstated By giving yourself permission to invest in your own growth, you are not just serving yourself; you are benefiting everyone around you.
Have you given yourself permission to fill your cup, recharge, and revitalize yet?
I promise you you’ll be changed for the better if you do.
Let's talk about something that’s uncomfortable but necessary domestic violence. It’s a topic close to our heart as women often share their stories in our community, on our stage or they write about it. It's often the kind of topic that gets pushed under the rug, but It Ends With Us is forcing us to face it head-on. And honestly? It’s about time.
If you haven’t heard about it yet, get ready this is going to be one of those films that sticks with you long after the credits roll. One that will touch you deeply
Domestic violence is an issue that affects millions of women worldwide, often hidden behind closed doors and shrouded in silence It transcends borders, cultures, and socioeconomic status, leaving a trail of trauma and broken lives in its wake Despite the strides made in women's rights and gender equality, domestic violence remains a significant challenge
It's a topic that demands continuous dialogue, awareness, and actionable steps to prevent it With the release of It Ends With Us, this silence is being challenged, offering a necessary and compassionate lens through which we can begin to address and prevent this pervasive issue The film provides a timely and powerful medium to spark this crucial conversation
“It’s not just a story — it’s a mirror reflecting a truth that’s too often ignored.”
The Film as a Catalyst for Change
It Ends With Us, directed by Justin Baldoni and based on Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, delves into the complexities of domestic violence. The film is not just a story; it's a reflection of the realities many women face. Blake Lively’s portrayal of the protagonist brings to life the emotional and psychological struggles of a woman caught in the cycle of abuse. The film's raw depiction of these issues serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing domestic violence head-on
The film doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff either It forces you to confront the harsh realities of domestic violence the manipulation, the fear, the way it chips away at a person’s self-worth Watching it, you can’t help but think about the women in your own life, the ones who might be silently suffering
And that’s where the real power of this movie lies It’s not just a story it’s a mirror reflecting a truth that’s too often ignored It is a topic close to our heart and it’s why we continue to serve as a platform to share women’s voices To make them feel heard and seen when they muster up the courage to speak up and to tell their story on stage, online and in print
Why This Conversation Matters
As a society we don’t talk about domestic violence nearly enough Sure, we see the headlines, and we might share a post or two on social media, but then what? The conversation fades, and the issue stays in the shadows Films like It Ends With Us drag these conversations into the light where they belong It makes us feel the pain and makes us shudder to think that this is the reality for so many
Domestic violence isn’t just something that happens “over there” or “to someone else” It’s happening in our neighborhoods, to our friends, our colleagues, even our family members The statistics are terrifying, and yet there’s still so much silence around the issue
That’s why we need more movies like this movies that aren’t afraid to show the reality of what so many women go through It is why we believe it is so vital to have a platform for women to speak their truth openly and safely with support and compassion.
It Ends With Us comes at a pivotal time, reminding us of the ongoing battle against domestic violence, but beyond the screen, the conversation must continue. We are here for that!
By raising awareness, supporting victims, and promoting healthy relationships, we can work towards a future where domestic violence is no longer a hidden epidemic but a problem we have collectively overcome.
What are you doing to help break the cycle and the silence?
"Domestic violence isn’t just something that happens 'over there' or 'to someone else.' It’s happening in our neighborhoods, to our friends, our colleagues, even our family members."
Your Power is in Personal development
by Hannah Murray
Before you can develop into the person you want to become, you must first start by finding out who you are; What do you like? What are your flaws? What skills do you have?
Personal discovery is the process of gaining a deeper understanding of your own self; your character, needs, values, and purpose in life The exploration of your inner self is hard You will want to scream, cry and run away at times But believe me, hard work pays off!
The key components in personal development are reflection and awareness This leads to selfknowledge which enables you to guide yourself through situations and experiences where you naturally begin to thrive.
Personal development or ‘self-growth’ is all about learning to understand your feelings, process emotions, navigate who we are as individuals, accept the past, move forward from survive into thrive and building resilience. Through an honest & hard self-development process you can;
• Find Happiness
• Improve relationships with yourself & others
• Learn new things
• Live a purposeful life
• Achieve your goals
• Adapt better to change
• Cope better in stressful moments or decision making
This process is about consciously improving yourself in various aspects of life It is a choice The choice to become a better version of you, for you
“Once we understand ourselves fully, we are able to define a clear vision of who we truly are & want to be; mapping out the route to get there.”
“Authentic self- discovery takes courage. It takes tenacity. On my own journey, I had to approach myself from the inside out.”
To nail down a strategy of self-improvement, you have to uncover your essence; the values, interests, and passions that define you- that's both in life & the world Once we understand ourselves fully, we are able to define a clear vision of who we truly are & want to be; mapping out the route to get there
Becoming the best version of me was my greatest achievement It meant getting back to my quintessential self As straightforward as that sounds, it wasn’t!
Authentic self-discovery takes courage It takes tenacity On my own journey, I had to approach myself from the inside out I had to turn away from any distracting false and limiting beliefs that had clouded my self-perception; How do others see me? What do I contribute and offer to others? Am I content & happy in myself? What can I improve?
The majority of us build this perception as part of our identity, based on expectations from others; that is wrong. The process of internalising others’ values is unconscious and bringing it to consciousness is the essence of learning how to become the best version of you. You need to recognise & let go of any negative beliefs that are keeping you from pushing forward; finding the person you truly want to be.
A huge part of the personal development process is having the power to shed your old identity. If you are determined to find your ideal self, you’ll be raising the bar. Resist the urge to cling on to the familiar –the normal; which is the identity that’s been holding you back and embrace your “can do” attitude
Everyone will judge us no matter what! By owning and accepting our uniqueness you show true POWER and courage
