Last Month’s Question –
In individual stroke play, there is never a penalty if two players agree to play out of turn. True or False?
Answer –
False. There is no penalty if a player plays out of turn, except that if two or more players agree to play out of turn to give one of them an advantage and one of them then plays out of turn, each player who made the agreement gets the general penalty (two penalty strokes).
This Month’s Question –
In stroke play, a player’s ball lies in a bunker. Before playing the ball, they make two practice swings, each time touching sand in the bunker. A player in their group tells them they have incurred a penalty. The player then breaks an attached branch with their hand, improving the area of their backswing. What is the ruling?
