Tokay Invitational 2024

The Tokay Invitational Committee received a very positive response in entries this year. There were well more than 100 applications submitted. Using a set order of priority, the committee has confirmed the 90-team field for the event on June 20, 21 & 22 (increased from 84 teams). As there are a number of withdraws each year, teams currently on the waiting list will have a reasonable opportunity to get in. It will be another great event in 2024, showcasing Woodbridge to all participants, members and guests.

Point Race Update

After three tournaments, to the left are the top 25 point-earners in the Men’s Annual Point Race. Remaining events in 2024 with points assigned are five tournaments, plus Men’s Twilight League. The player finishing in first place at the end is crowned “Player of the Year.” Many positions on in final point standings are awarded Credit Book winnings.

Upcoming Fitting Days

• Sat, June 1: TaylorMade

• Sat, June 14: Sun Mountain (bags, pushcarts, etc.)

• Fri, July 12: Maui Jim Sunglasses

Last Month’s Question –

In stroke play, a player plays a wrong ball from deep rough onto the putting green. When the player reaches the putting green, the mistake is discovered. The player returns to the rough and plays another ball that they believe to be theirs. Then, the player discovers that they have played a second wrong ball. What’s the ruling?

Answer –

The stroke made with the wrong ball, and any more strokes before the mistake is corrected, do not count. The player incurs a 2-stroke penalty, and must correct the mistake before making a stroke to begin another hole or, for the final hole of the round, before returning their scorecard.

This Month’s Question –

In match play, a player’s ball lies in a bunker, while their opponent’s ball lies on the putting green, but farther from the hole; the player plays out of turn and the ball comes to rest on the putting green. The player then rakes the bunker. After the player has raked the bunker, the opponent cancels the stroke and requires the player to replay. What is the ruling?

Bunker Rake Position

After playing out of bunkers at Woodbridge, rake the sand smooth and leave the rake half-in & half-out of the bunker.
