club NEWS Dear Woodcrest Members, As we enter the heart of the season, as you can see, the club has been bustling with activity in every area. I am happy to report that our membership continues to be very healthy with great year over year growth. As a reminder, don’t forget to take advantage of the membership referral program. The golf course is in full maintenance and upkeep mode and will be until the fall at which time we will restart our capital improvement program. The work that was completed over the winter and spring months has received rave reviews. During the upcoming off season, you can look forward to seeing continued upgrades to the golf course. The tennis courts were resurfaced in May and are rolled and brushed five times a week. I am happy to report that we are seeing an increase in the number of tennis players utilizing the facility. Please check out an update from our Tennis Committee in this newsletter for more information. The pool season is in full swing. The water is heated, the pool is crystal clear and the new expanded seating areas has allowed us to increase capacity. Please refer to the pool rules on the website and please limit towel usage to one towel per person. Our first Dive In Movie Night featuring Moana was a success. The weather was great and very well attended. We will have two additional Dive In Movie nights; TBD due to rain cancellation, but will feature Beauty and the Beast and August 18th, showing Trolls. Our Friday Night Woodcrest Signature Happy Hours continue to be a big hit and very well received by members and guests. The musical entertainment will continue throughout the year with fantastic happy hour drink and menu specials. Please refer to the entertainment calendar inside this issue. We have recently implemented Wednesday Night Theme Dinners at Bar 1929. George Jordan and Chefs Iggy and Abe have done an amazing job in creating delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts representing national and international cuisines. Be sure to stop by for our next themed dinner on July 19th for The Woodcrest Diner Night! George Jordan and his sales and management team are eager to assist you in the planning of your special event from beginning to end. Whether it’s a wedding, bat or bar mitzvah, shower, corporate or charity event, please be sure to reach out to George and his team to help make your event an extraordinary and memorable one. On behalf of the entire Woodcrest CC team, I thank you for being a part of the growing Woodcrest family. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to let me know.

The Woodcrest team is 2 weeks in to the 4th season of our Juniors Camp and everyone is having a great time! The camp is a great way for your kids to enjoy the outdoors during the summe. Being active, playing golf, tennis, swimming and pool activities establish healthy exercise habits far beyond indoor video games or television. Golf is an active game and less injury prone then contact sports. Conditioning for golf improves strength of core muscles and support the spine, improves flexibility, and allows the kids the opportunity to be active and fit. They get to learn about golf in a safe environment all while creating lifelong friendships, developing social skills, and learn to appreciate diversity as golf is a game that can be played for a lifetime, by anyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, size, or skill level. One of golf’s best life skills, I think is the focus on etiquette. The game teaches you how to behave towards others and also provides opportunites to test values such as truthfulness and strength during adversity. Gathering with friends to play golf gives the young golfers the opportunity to spend enjoyable times in friendly individual and/or team competition. We still have a few spots left in in this coming weeks’ camp from July 17 - July 21, or Week 5: July 31st - August 14th. Please contact the Pro Shop today for more information or to register. If a week long camp does not fit your schedule, the golf staff also offers weekly junior golf lessons or private lessons. Best, Jay Curry, PGA

Socially Speaking... From the Desk of George Jordan Director of Food & Beverage Summer is under way at Woodcrest Country Club! Friday nights on the Bar 1929 deck have been well attended and the entertainment has been top notch. Please remember to make reservations for dinner so we are better prepared to serve you. The Independence Day cookout with games and a DJ dance party was fantastic! The pool was a frenzy of activity. We had well over one hundred members and their families attend. The weather was beautiful and a great time was had by all. Before you know it, we’ll be back by the pool celebrating the unofficial end of summer at our Labor Day BBQ, September 4th. Seafood Night held on Thursday, June 29th was a big hit! Crab cakes, soft shell crabs, lobster tail skewers, scallops and shrimp were a few of the hot items. It was so nice to see so many new faces enjoying the evening. Hold the date for our premier event of the summer “Lobster Night” on Thursday, August 24th. We can’t get enough of those lobsters! Don’t miss out! Starting with hors d’oeuvres and a seafood bar at 7:00 pm in the upstairs club bar. Followed by our members feasting on all you can eat Maine Lobsters! This event sells out fast, so call to make your reservations as soon as possible. Remember the events are always more fun when you are there! Looking forward to seeing everyone around the club! You might not have room in your schedule to play more golf or tennis, but I bet you and your family sure can eat and party! Come to Woodcrest for lunch midweek and for dinner to attend our special theme dinners on Wednesdays continuing through August. Our Friday night music series will continue into the early fall. Most importantly have your parties at Woodcrest. Talk about a win–win situation.
