club NEWS Dear Members, On behalf of Woodcrest Country Club, I would like to welcome all of our members to the 2017 Golf and Social Events Season. There are a lot of new and exciting things happening just in time for the golf season. The golf course projects have been going well. We are in the final stage of completing many of them. As many of you have noticed, we have paved several of the cart path areas around the course, most notably around the 11th green and 12th tee, 15th tee and the cart path from the 6th green to the 7th tee. We have also expanded our parking area at the driving range tee by removing several shrubs and enlarging the parking lot. We have also extended the gravel cart path on the right side of the 9th hole by removing several trees and roots, making for a smoother drive in a very difficult location. Over the winter we added drainage to the 11th and 14th fairways, which will allow these areas to dry out much quicker and result in better turf quality during the heat of the summer. The new Ladies tee on the 14th hole was recently sodded, and will be open for play by May 1st. The new fairway bunkers on the 11th hole were sodded in early April and will be open for play by May 1st . In addition, we will be adding another fairway bunker to the left side of the 11th hole, roughly 250 yards from the tee. The new bunker should be completed and ready for play by the middle to end of May. Our most recent project currently under construction, is the renovation of the 20th practice hole. We are in the process of re-grading the green and surrounds, which will be sodded by the end of April. Following this, will be the aerification and conversion of the 20th fairway to Bentgrass, which will take place during the month of May. We will also be adding some irrigation to the 20th hole as well. We are also considering adding a fairway bunker with sand which would add an additional area for practicing longer sand shots. Over the next few weeks we will be mulching the ornamental beds, both around the clubhouse as well as the general golf course. We will also be enhancing our beautification program around the clubhouse and Bar 1929 by adding several floral focal points. Lastly, the greens were aerified on April 10th and 11th and are filling in very quickly due to the warm weather. By the last weekend of April I anticipate them to be fully healed and in golf season playing condition. The tennis courts are scheduled to be resurfaced the first week of May. We will be hiring an additional staff member to help maintain the tennis courts on a regular basis, which will include watering, brushing and rolling. We are expanding our seating areas within the pool facility by removing the large mulch bed along the fence, as well as a portion of the grassed area. We will be installing several shade canopies on the south facing side of the pool area. These upgrades will go a long way in enhancing the pool facility.

club NEWS

The upgrades to the clubhouse continue with much of the exterior walls and trim freshly repainted. We are also in the process of having the wood deck sanded and refinished to look like new. In addition, we have added two new mobile fire pits to the outside patio of the Fountain and Club Bar area for your enjoyment. Lastly, in an effort to add light to our parking lot area, we are in the process of installing new LED lighting, which will better illuminate the area at night. I am happy to report that both Easter and the two nights of Passover were very successful and well attended by our members and their guests. We had 300 and 250 respectively. The club continues to grow and flourish with an increase in membership and participation and we continue to look forward to an even stronger year in 2017. Our Open House held on April 5th was very successful yielding several new members. Please remember our new member referral incentive program which offers a 10% food and beverage credit for new member referrals. Our Friday Night Signature Happy Hour Series continues to be a fun time for all with great attendance. We will be expanding our Happy Hours with live music to include Thursdays throughout the summer months. We have entertainment booked through June so please make sure to mark your calendars. I and the entire Woodcrest Country Club Team, thank you for being a part of the growing family. If there is every anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Kind regards,

Patrick Lucas Director of Operations

Socially Speaking... From the Desk of George Jordan Director of Food & Beverage

We are off to a great 2017! Before you know it, we will be feeling the warmth of the beautiful summer sun! The month of April has been a crowd favorite! We started the month with Two Nights of Passover celebrated on Monday, April 10th and Tuesday, April 11th. We had a total attendance of 225 between both nights. Food and service received high marks. The favorites were the chicken, matzo ball soup and brisket. Easter Brunch held on Sunday, April 16th was sold out with over 300 in attendance. Gary the Balloon man, the Easter Bunny and the egg hunt were the crowd favorites. We hid over a thousand eggs filled with candy and not one egg was left on the grass. A delicious brunch was enjoyed by all and the club received rave reviews on décor and food. It was great to see so many young families with little ones. We have many more family events planned throughout the season and remember the events are always more fun when you are there! Bar 1929 has been a bevy of activity with the Happy hours and lunch after golfing. We have enhanced our already delicious menu with some great new items. The new menu has been well received! We will be introducing a new wine list with a complimentary tasting to be held in sometime in May with more information to follow. Please be sure to visit Bar 1929 and enjoy delicious food and drink on the beautiful patio overlooking Hole 18. Our spring and summer music series will also continue on the patio throughout the season. It’s a great way to spend time with family and friends. Cinco de Mayo festivities will be held in Bar 1929 on Friday May 5th. If the weather is not ideal the event will move upstairs into the Club Bar and Fountain Dining Room. Chef Iggy and his culinary team will have an amazing array of Mexican food stations available for your enjoyment. We also will have a complimentary tequila tasting and frozen margaritas for purchase. It should be an amazing night and we would love to see you there. Sunday, May 14th is Mother’s Day and we know it’s the biggest day of the year and a club favorite. Please make your reservations as this day fills up fast. Mother’s Day is open only to Members and guest of members. If you can’t join us for Brunch, Bar 1929 will be open for reservations starting at 12:00 pm. Memorial Day is Monday, May 29th. Woodcrest will kick off the summer with an outstanding BBQ buffet. Entertainment for the entire family, including a DJ interactive dance party, games and races, glitter tattoos, popcorn, cotton candy and water ice. This event fills up fast, please be sure to make reservations as soon as possible. Party will be held indoors if the weather does not cooperate.
