club NEWS Dear Woodcrest Members, With the recent hot weather experienced in this region, it’s hard to believe that fall is here. This is always a beautiful time of year at Woodcrest, especially when the leaves that line our picturesque golf course start to change colors. Not to fret, there is plenty of good golf left to be played this season. This has been an all-around great year for the club. Our membership continues to grow and flourish, which serves as the life blood of Woodcrest. Our 2018 membership rates will be out later in the month, along with prepay and referral incentives. Woodcrest, along with its golf course, pool and other amenities continues to be a fantastic value in today’s marketplace, and we look forward to an even better and stronger 2018. Golf Course Update All around, this was a very strong year for the golf course. I am happy to report that the off-season capital projects we finished in May, including tree work, drainage, new bunkers, cart paths and irrigation expansion, has and will continue to pay dividends by improving course conditions and playability. Over the winter we will be continuing our investment into the golf course, which will include more bunker projects, drainage, tree pruning, cart paths and irrigation upgrades. If the weather cooperates, we will be aerifying greens on October 11th and 12th with medium tines and tighter spacing which should heal up nicely, yet meeting our objective of decreasing compaction and improving soil structure. Greens aerification will go a long way in helping to prepare and ensure we have a healthy and fantastic 2018 golf season. Lastly, over the next month, we will gradually be re-implementing the intermediate cut around the fairways. By late spring of next year, the intermediate cut should be back and in play as it was before. Member Events & Live Music It’s been really nice seeing lots of our members and guests enjoying our Friday Night Woodcrest Signature Happy Hours with live music. As many of you know, over the last several months we have had several small concerts as well. George Jordan, our Director of Food and Beverage and I are working together creating ways how we can provide better service to you and your guests during the live music and concerts. We have lots of live music booked through October and as the weather gets colder we will begin moving our Friday night live music into the Fountain Room and Club Bar. Some of the recent member event highlights include two very successful nights of Rosh Hashanah, as well as our two day Men’s Member Guest Tournament. Be sure to look at our website and be on the lookout for our upcoming fall and winter member events, such as Oktoberfest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, along with our live music schedule. As always, George Jordan, our Director of Food & Beverage and his team are eager in helping you plan and execute your special event. Our holiday party calendar is rapidly booking up, so please make sure you reach out to George and the Woodcrest Sales Team to reserve your party. Greens Aerification: The Golf Course will be closed on Wednesday, October 11th and Thursday, October 12th, and will reopen on Friday, October 13th at 8am. Please contact the Pro Shop for other golf options. Monday, October 2nd, the golf course will open at noon. Monday, October 9th, the golf course will open at 5:30 pm. Monday, October 16th, the golf course will open at 6:00pm. Monday, October 23rd, the golf course will open at 6:00 pm. Monday, October 30th, the golf course will open at noon. Socially Speaking... From the Desk of George Jordan Director of Food & Beverage
I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing summer with family and friends. As we head into the beginning of fall, plans are underway for the many fall and winter activities and events. To our Woodcrest Swim Club members : The fun doesn’t end when the pool closes, you and your family can still enjoy all of the dining and social events until December 31st! In September, Woodcrest Men’s Golf Association hosted our Two Day Men’s Member Guest. The weather was dry and cool. It looks like holding the member guest in September was a great idea! All in attendance raved about the food and great golfing! The sandwich bar, sushi station and seafood bar were the big hits of the day! Lisa drove around with the beverage cart making Bloody Marys, Transfusions, John Dalys and more great drinks. The guys loved it! Thanks to Men’s Member Guest Chair, Matt Enriquez and the entire Woodcrest staff for another successful event. Congratulations to Jordan Rosenblatt and his guest, in winning the tournament! Friday Night Music continues through the month of October. As we move into the fall season, the culinary team is directing their focus on enhancing the Bar 1929 menu. We will bring in some new hearty items as the weather gets cooler, while maintaining the favorites that our members love. Again, this year as the weather gets colder, dining and Friday Happy Hours will move upstairs to the Club Bar and Fountain Room. Please join us around the fireplace and continue the fun throughout the Fall and Winter.

Save The Date! Halloween . . . . . . . . . In the month of October bring your little ghosts and goblins for the Family Halloween Party on Sunday, October 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. The evening will feature pumpkin decorating, an interactive DJ Dance Party, Family Friendly Food Stations, Costume Parade and treat bags, fun and games!
Fall Happy Hours
Thanksgiving . . . . . . . . . Thursday, November 23rd. Thanksgiving Dinner Seatings from 3:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m. The day will feature a deluxe soup and salad bar, turkey, prime rib & baked ham, seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes, and our extravagant dessert station! Let Woodcrest do the cooking for you! We also have takeout available. Catering . . . . . . . . . When family or friends are looking for a venue to host a party, please inform them of Woodcrest and our fine catering department, where the food and service is always outstanding! Pick the date and we’ll take care of the rest! Our pricing is very reasonable. If you are interested in hosting a Holiday Party for your business, there are still dates available.
