Wood Floor Repairs

Wood Floor Repairs Every once in awhile your wooden floor need to have repairing, either to remove scuff marks or stains or even to correct a floor which was badly laid in the beginning. Scratches can be sanded away using fine to medium sand paper however it is recommended that any stained floorboards be changed because, depending how intensely the stain has entered the wood, you might have to sand quite hard to get the spot out and this can mean that section of flooring would not look the same as the rest. In case you are fortunate enough to inherit an authentic wood floor or would like to restore a floor you covered years back with carpet, you may really need to carry out some fixes. This may involve replacement sections of the old wood floor with brand new wood. Should you have to do this, it is advisable to source wood that, as closely as can be, matches the original wood, in color and type. Once the fixes have been carried out, the floor needs to be machine sanded to a fine finish and also any gaps filled. With this done it is possible to set about staining the floor to your selected colour. Sometimes, stains in your flooring will simply become apparent after the floor is machine sanded or even after putting on the new chosen finish. Whenever this happens, you may prefer to replace that section or leave it because it adds appeal to your floor. Original parquet floors were glued and pinned using copper headed pins. Over time, these eroded leaving stains around each fixing. Unfortunately all these stains cannot be removed, however it must be said, they form a part of the floors character. When installing new parquet flooring, stainless steel headless pins are widely used to prevent this problem from happening in the future.
