DARE TO BEE INTENTIONAL by Janet Sealey Chairman

An intentional life embraces only the things that will add to the mission of significance.” – John C. Maxwell We give God thanks for the start of a new year for the Women of Purpose (WOP) ministry, we celebrate our successes and progress over the year. The ministry gained some new friends and we said farewell to some very special colleagues as well. This is an excellent opportunity for each of us to evaluate our growth, spiritually, mentally and socially to determine how we are doing. My new year message challenged us to “Dare to bee You”. Since we are mid-year in the calendar year, let us dare ourselves to tweak our objectives and be intentional to accomplish our personal goals before the end of December 2022. We do not know what the future holds but we know the God of the future and with the guidance of His Holy Spirit we can, yes we can achieve whatever we set our minds to do. The COVID pandemic was a convenient excuse over the past two years but we cannot allow that to retard our advancement. We do not have to be overly ambitious, identify one thing that you know you can and should do – break down the journey in manageable steps, apply practical dates and share your plan with an accountability partner. Someone who will hold you to your promise, pushing you when required and being your inspiration along the way. You are a woman of purpose, you are smart, special, fearfully and wonderfully made. Arrest procrastination and self-doubt, incarcerate them and throw away the key, affirm your destination and make the first step towards your aspiration. There are some little sistas who are watching, they need the motivation to succeed and we are the trendsetters, the efforts we make today will be the foundation for the future of WOP and other valuable ministries. Let us be focused and firm, determined to destroy failure and birth success and sustainability. With deliberate and intentional efforts, we can fulfill our purpose.

DARE TO BELIEVE GOD CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE by Jenifer J. Johnson Founder

There is nothing too hard for God. We can believe that we can achieve anything if we allow God to take first place in all areas of our lives. Women of Purpose Ministry has proven over the past 12 years that our God can help us achieve what may appear to be impossible. Romans 8:28 (AMP) And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. Our faith in God has allowed us to see that all do things work together, we have proven that God will supply our needs according to His riches in glory. Indeed, we have experienced His healing, deliverance and provision. We have seen God turn situations and lives around where many were considered hopeless. As we celebrate our 12th Anniversary. I can truly say He has brought us this far by faith. We can give God Praise and glory for the wonderful women and men who have embraced our vision and mission and have stayed the course with us. To those who have given financial donations, clothing, household items, assisted with our “Back to School” and “Gifts with Purpose” Projects we say thank you. We thank you for walking with us and holding our hands. We look forward to your continued support as we continue our journey to achieve our vision.

12 PEARLS OF WISDOM adapted from www.crosswalk.com

Twelve (12) is known as The Number of Authority. It is said to represent authority, appointment and completeness. 12 Things to Know about 12 in the Bible: 1. Jesus spoke in the temple at 12. Jesus first spoke in the temple with religious leaders at the age of 12 when he and his family had traveled to Jerusalem for Passover (Luke 2:41-52). The religious leaders marveled at his wisdom. 2. 12 cakes were placed in the Tabernacle. In the Old Testament Tabernacle—a mobile temple of sorts—the priests were to place 12 unleavened cakes (Leviticus 24:5). The unleavened nature of these cakes may have symbolized the same bread used in Passover, when the Israelites left Egypt. Some other elements of 12 in the Tabernacle included 12 silver plates, bowls, bulls, rams, and male lambs (Numbers 7). 3. Not only Jacob had 12 princes. Jacob isn’t the only descendant of Abraham to have 12 princes (tribes) come from him. Ishmael, Abraham’s son he bore through his servant Hagar, also had 12 princes come from his line (Genesis 17:20). This website lists these 12 tribes of Ishmael, who later played a role in the history of Israel. Individual tribe histories also found in the article. 4. 12 spies scouted the Promised Land. When the Israelites wandered in the desert after they fled Egypt, they had 12 spies go and scout the Promised Land (Numbers 13). Only two out of the 12 were not intimidated by the people in the land of Canaan. Interestingly enough, only two out of 12 tribes remain in the tribe of Judah when the kingdom splits (1 Kings 12:16). 5. Nebuchadnezzar's dream was fulfilled after 12 months. When Nebuchadnezzar has a dream that is interpreted that he will act like a wild beast for a while, the dream ends up fulfilled 12 months later (Daniel 4). 6. 12 tribes came to battle. Twelve thousand men come to battle the Midianites in Numbers 31, a thousand from each tribe. This could be a case in which the people were actually more than 12,000 (or it the number wasn’t 12,000 exactly), but the writers wanted to indicate that a vast number of people came. 7. 12 baskets remained full. When Jesus performs the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000, the disciples gather 12 baskets full of leftovers (Matthew 14). 8. 12,000 people died in Ai. Ai is destroyed in Joshua 8, with 12,000 people falling that day, “all the people of Ai.” Ai might’ve had more than 12,000 people, but the deaths of them showed a complete and perfect destruction of the place. 9. Solomon appointed 12 governors. Solomon appointed 12 district governors over Israel, showing how 12 has symbolic importance in government as well (1 Kings 4:26). 10. Elisha worked with 12 oxen. Elisha, a prophet, while plowing 12 oxen is called into his prophetic ministry by Elijah (1 Kings 19:19). 11. 12 priests were chosen. When Israel returns after their captivity, Ezra sets apart 12 priests (Ezra 8). 12. The Tree of Life in Revelation will bear 12 fruits. A tree of life will also be in the new world God brings at the end of time (Revelation 22) with 12 fruits, one for each month of the year.

Congratulations PRESIDENT TRACEY

IMAGINE ROTARY MAKE ROTARY MAGIC Ms. Tracey Knight-Lloyd President of The Rotary Club of Barbados 2022/2023

On July 9, 2022 - Ms. Tracey Knight-Lloyd was installed as the President of The Rotary Club of Barbados for the year 2022/2023. We, the board, the members and friends of Women of Purpose Ministry, extend Congratulations to Tracey. Tracey has been a long standing member and friend of the ministry, and the Marketing Executive who created sponsorship opportunities to facilitate the start of the Women of Purpose radio broadcast. Tracey has been with us on our twelve(12) year journey and we are committed to giving her our support throughout her tenure as president. The theme for this year is "Imagine Rotary - Make Rotary Magic". Over the year the team will be focusing on several projects, however, one of the highlights of the year will be her project "Save, Spend and Thrive". This is a financial wellness programme to equip vulnerable women to protect their livelihoods and by extension their families, as many women head households. This project will be rolled out in 3 phases, the rehabilitation of the computer labs at Marina House, a financial wellness coaching seminar, and finally a national social media campaign highlighting basic financial literacy tips in an easy-to-understand format. We support this cause as it is in line with our mantra to Empower women and we wish Tracey and her team the best for the coming year as she embarks upon this and her other projects.

WOP HIGHLIGHTS DARE TO BEE HEALTHY

On May 21, 2022 - The ladies met in the National Botanical Gardens for our health session. We began with a session of exercise, led by Sista Priscilla Carvalho-Lovell. This was followed by a brisk walk through the gardens. After warming down, the ladies enjoyed their fruit packages, while listening to the words of our in house nutritionist, Sista Sonia Agard. Sista Agard, encouraged and challenged us at the same time. She encouraged us to take greater care of our bodies by eating the right foods and ensuring our meals are balanced. She then challenged us to add healthier foods into our diet, which will ensure that we are receiving all of the necessary vitamins and nutrients, required to function effectively. She also challenged us to select and source our foods from reliable vendors who are storing their foods correctly, which will guarantee that we are receiving high quality foods. Sista Agard also gave some guidance into foods which can aid in controlling or cause the progression of several ailments, and advised us to be careful what we allow to enter our mouths. This session was very informative and interactive, and we look forward to more sessions like these.

WHY ARE WIDOWS LONELY? On June 23, 2022 - International Widows Day we held a session which was hosted to bring the widows who are members and friends of this ministry together. Recently several of our ladies became widows and we sought to bring them into the same space, to connect with other widows and to offer support while encouraging them on this uncharted journey. Our Sista Judaline Alder and Sista Marion Corbin whose husbands both passed within the last year, shared their individual experiences.Though their experiences are fresh, their strength in God was evident, as they shared how He has helped them thus far on this journey. Sista Juanita Grant prayed for the widows and she was followed by Sista Zenda Phillips, who was our speaker and a widow of several years. Sista Zenda gave a thought provoking word as she spoke to those who were widowed by death, separation or emotional death. She left the ladies encouraged that being a widow does not have to be lonely because loneliness is a choice. Though there will be moments of loneliness, this is an opportunity to tap into God and let Him show you what He would have you do during this season and beyond. Surely this is the start of something new for the widows in our midst.
