Local Schools

Where our children spend most of their week and how they are being educated is a decision which should take some serious consideration. We have put together this list of suggestions to make your life a little bit easier. Many local schools and nurseries offer free tours so please go and visit your choice options before making that final important decision.

Colville Primary School Our staff and governors work together to ensure our pupils make outstanding progress and attain high standards. We have strong partnerships between our parents and community. This enables us to create a special and unique educational experience as soon as your child starts with us. Your child will find an organised community, in a safe setting, that fosters scope for intellectual, emotional, physical, social and moral development. In our caring and intellectually stimulating environment, we always offer praise and encouragement. We have high expectations of achievement and behaviour, so that all may thrive and enjoy their days in our school. Lonsdale Rd, London W11 2DF. 020 7229 6540 www.colville.rbkc.sch.uk/

Thomas Jones Primary School In the context of Notting Hill, Thomas Jones is unique, in that it is the only community school with one form of entry. An advantage of this is that it frequently feels like a ‘big family’. There exists a powerful nurturing frisson, with younger pupils knowing Year 6 well and vice versa. The Nursery and Reception are by far our most important cohorts, simply because this is where everything begins. Attending all assemblies, attired immaculately in the same garb as their older peers, they contribute much and are celebrated at every opportunity. Early Years practice is exceptional. St Marks Rd, London W11 1RQ. 020 7727 1423 www.thomasjonesschool.org/ St Clement & St James CE Primary School We are two schools working together to benefit families in North Kensington. St Thomas’ has joined forces with St Clement and St James CE Primary School to form a federation. We work closely with our colleagues in both schools. Our aim is to ensure our children benefit as much as possible from this new partnership and through sharing good practice and learning from the strengths of both schools we believe we will become stronger together. The schools have the advantage of functioning, day to day, like one form entry village schools, small is beautiful! We aim to make very safe and caring environments where everybody knows your name and understands you. The children will also have a sense of belonging to a bigger partnership of learning. Kensington Aldridge Academy I am delighted to welcome you to the Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA). KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in September 2014 with just Year 7, and since then have grown into a full school with over 1,200 students. KAA is a high performing academy with a strong local and national profile. In December 2017 Ofsted graded the school “outstanding” in all areas and described standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 KAA was named the TES Secondary School of the Year. Students and parents who are considering KAA, or teachers who are interested in working with us, can read our Ofsted report here and see our recent results 1 Silchester Rd, London W10 6EX. 020 7313 5800 www.kaa.org.uk/

Notting Hill Preparatory School We strongly believe that children thrive when they feel safe and happy. At NHP (affectionately renamed by the children as No Happier Place) we work hard to create a nurturing environment where our pupils’ views are respected and encouraged. Kindness and courtesy are key themes, and we focus on the children’s ability to co-operate, to think collaboratively and to show consideration for the needs of others. We are proud of our reputation as a Thinking School and through our Learning Habits and Values, we ensure that NHP pupils develop key life skills alongside academic ones. The children leave us with a problem-solving attitude and a toolkit on which to draw. They are confident, articulate, resourceful, resilient, independent, and more than ready to face the next stage of their education. 95 Lancaster Rd, London W11 1QQ. 020 7221 0727 www.nottinghillprep.com/

Tabernacle School We are a school where Christ is placed at the centre of learning and there is a holistic understanding of the needs of our children. Our holistic provision is underpinned by a principle we are passionate about - no significant learning can take place without significant relationships; it is this relationship which inspires and motivates maximum learning and promotes respect for each other in the school community and beyond. Our unique approach and emphasis on pastoral care has allowed students from diverse cultures and backgrounds to join our school community, something I am very proud of. 32 St Anns Villas, London W11 4RS. 020 7602 6232 www.tabernacleschool.com/ Chepstow House School As with other schools in the Alpha Plus Group, Chepstow House operates to a ‘Gold Standard’, delivering at the highest level in all aspects of school life, and offering superb facilities. The school is founded on the values of excellence, tradition, and quality. As a co-educational establishment, the school provides parents with enhanced choice for the education of their children, while maintaining the existing traditions and standards of all schools within the Alpha Plus Group. In a happy and purposeful family environment, where every member of the school community is important and all are valued as individuals, Chepstow House aims to discover the best in every child and challenge them to go beyond their expectations. We look forward to meeting prospective parents and pupils. 108A Lancaster Rd, London W11 1QS. 020 7243 0243 www.chepstowhouseschool.co.uk/
