The race typically attracts 2300 entrants across all run/walk/cycle distances. Food, refreshments and entertainment will be provided throughout the day for participants and supporters. This is a real fun healthy day out for the whole family. There is a 15km run, a 55km, 35km, 15km and 8km cycle and for the less energetic, a 5km FUN Run/Walk. All races start and finish at Lilyfontein School. The first 2300 people to register will receive a packet of tomatoes and a race shirt. This is a #runclean event so all refreshments will be served in washable plastic cups to protect our local environment. Meet Yvonne in the Lavender Blue parking lot every Saturday morning at 6am for a lovely walk and enjoy breakfast afterwards. You will be taken on a 10km circular walk past farms and along farm roads. Take the usual goodies with and some money for a hearty breakfast afterwards. Oxford Striders Running Club: Scheduled training sessions are held from the club premises in Beach Road, Nahoon each weekday evening at 5.30pm Tuesday: Time trial – 5km & 8km Thursday: Speed or hill sessions Friday: Gentle run down to Nahoon Beach and back to the club, from 5pm. The Permanent Collection will be on view in January. A little history: The house was built in 1905 for Arthur Savage, and was bought two years later by a local businessman, Edmund Bryant. He died in 1928 and in 1946 his widow, Ann, left the house, then called “The Gables” in trust to the city on condition that it be used as an art gallery. She also left the city her collection of about 60 works, which formed the core of the collection. Since then the collection has grown substantially and it is a huge treat to visit the gallery and view the art on display. Chicken Burritos INGREDIENTS 1. 30ml olive oil 2. 4 spring onions, finely chopped 3. 1 red pepper, finely diced 4. 1 red chilli, finely diced (seeded) 5. 2 cloves garlic, crushed 6. 1 stick celery, finely diced 7. 5ml Robertsons Cumin 8. 15ml Robertsons Paprika 9. 200g long grained rice according to instructions on the packet, cooked and left cold for 2 hours or more. 10. zest and juice of 2 lemons 11. chicken and picked, Roasted and shredded 12. 1 x Chicken Stock Pot 13. 10ml bbq sauce 14. 4 large tortillas 15. 45ml coriander, chopped 16. 60g cheddar cheese, grated METHOD 1. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan. Add the spring onions, peppers, chillies, garlic and celery. Cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables start to soften but do not brown. 2. Add the Cumin and Paprika, mix well on medium heat. 3. Add the cooked rice, the lemon zest and lemon juice. Shake the pan well so that the rice and vegetables mix together really well. 4. In a separate bowl, mix the shredded chicken with the Chicken Stock Pot and BBQ sauce. 5. Heat the tortillas in a large dry frying pan on medium heat for 1-2 minutes until they soften up. 6. HEALTHIER FOR YOU TIPS: For added fibre switch the tortillas to wholewheat tortillas and use brown rice for the filling.

Cabbage Patch. The Classic Country Challenge Awaits ... fun for the whole family!!
T
his year marks the 30th Cabbage Patch run. The Komga Road Runners decided to organise a unique run in the country to reciprocate for the runs they attended around the Border area and in 1988 the first Cabbage Patch took place with 17 runners attending. Over the years it has grown to a family day with, on average, more than 1100 runners, cyclists and walkers taking participating in this great country event. Braai fires, camping, free showers, food & craft market, bar and live music contribute to a great atmosphere. The event is unique in that it is started by shooting a cabbage with a shotgun suspended over the start line, exploding into hundreds of pieces. For more info please refer to our advert on page 16.
