4 ways to survive returning to work after your holiday 1. Make The Most Of Your Vacation Before you even return, make sure you make the most of your vacation time while you have it. Try to completely switch off from work and make sure you do something enjoyable and rejuvenating, whether that is at home or away.

Travel Gear

2. Ease Your Way In Try to arrange for the first day back to be a catch up day, where you get a chance to find your feet again. 3. Plan Your Next Break Having something exciting to look forward to can be motivating and help things seem more manageable. If you are feeling blue at being back at work, you could at least get the next weekend away dates set up! 4. Reassess Holiday time is a great opportunity to reassess your life. When we haven’t got the usual demands on our time and energy we can take a step back and see things more clearly. Maybe you realised that you need to take better care of your health or say no at work more? Make sure you do something with these realisations after the holiday. Write down your goals and intentions in the areas you want to work on and set about making them happen.

JANUARY AT THE ART GALLERIES ANN BRYANT GALLERY: 043 722 4044 The Permanent Collection will be on view in January. A little history: The house was built in 1905 for Arthur Savage, and was bought two years later by a local businessman, Edmund Bryant, who added more land to the stand so that the gallery now stands in a park that stretches to Oxford Street, East London’s main road. He died in 1928 and in 1946 his widow, Ann, left the house, then called “The Gables” in trust to the city on condition that it be used as an art gallery. She also left the city her collection of about 60 works, which formed the core of the collection. The collection has been enlarged by pictures donated and pictures purchased. The policy of the Advisory Board has been to concentrate on the South African Artists and build up a representative collection of their works. So it is that the South African pictures cover a period of a hundred years or more, 20

from Thomas Bowler to such contemporary artists as Maud Sumner, Laurence Scully, George Pemba, and Willie Bester. FLORADALE FINE ART GALLERY: 043 740 2031 After a successful run of the Exhibition “October”, we can now offer exciting, new work in our Art/Craft section featuring superb Ceramic Art with strong African influence. While bringing forward, once again, some of the best work from past exhibitions. Sunday opening times: by appointment. What is

Life Coaching? Life Coaching helps to provide guidance, personal development and improvements to aspects of your life. Coaching accelerates the learning process. Coaches use various models and strategies with their clients to identify, set and achieve goals. They also assist clients to understand themselves, identifying unproductive behavioural patterns. By teaching clients strategies, the client can remove their limiting beliefs and install new habits and behaviours. “I have read the books Excitedly filled my notebook On the ideas that can change my future Day after day things do not get any easier Non-productive habits and inhibiting thought patterns Stops me from realising my life long ambitions. Motivational quotes provide a moment of inspiration… Diluted and then forgotten, I spiral back into desperation I create but one too many false starts Is that enough to keep things from falling apart?” - Deepak Mahabir

THE QUALITIES OF PEOPLE THAT SEEK LIFE COACHING They are people who are tired of been stuck in life and want to make significant changes. They have the zest for living. They want personal growth. They are critical thinkers. They may have: Low Self-Esteem, a Poor Self Image, Anxiety Attacks, Stress, Goal Setting and Time Management issues.

DOES LIFE COACHING WORK? NO! J It does not work with people that do not want to change. Coaches are not magicians. No one can force you to change your attitudes, habits, behaviours etc. You are the expert of you life. It is only you that can truly understand yourself. CAN I CHANGE? YES! JJJ Everyone has the potential to change. It is very possible to reprogram negative behaviour & thought patterns into more productive, desirable and fulfilling ones. Coaches have skills, a certain mindset and create the environment that facilitates your development. DESIGN: Success is not an accident. It requires you to design a series of purpose centred activities to achieve your goals. DEVELOP: Through specific strategies and models, you are taught skills you can use to develop yourself. You as a person will continue to develop even after coaching. YOU: You are beautiful. You are unique. You need to connect with yourself. You deserve a good life. Deepak Mahabir:
