The World Halal Forum is the premier halal industry event globally. Established in 2006, it has become an integral part in the development of a viable global Halal industry and in promoting the concept of Halal for the benefit of the global market. The fifth instalment that was held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in 2010 was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak. The sixth World Halal Forum which was held in April 2011 heeded the Prime Minister’s call for an integrated Halal economy with its theme “Towards a Halal Economy: the Power of Values in Global Markets” and featured some of the world’s thought leaders in Islamic Finance and Halal products industry. This bigger approach to Halal has ignited a whole new direction in the global Halal and Islamic Finance sectors, with the recent unveiling of the world’s first Halal Food Index which positions Halal as an asset class.
