This will help you plan your day. It will also help you to be certain of your year 13 choices and generate some more thought about career aspirations. This is important as there will be further discussions next year with your Personal Tutor about your options after finishing year 13.

At this tutorial you will complete your Progression Form, confirming your courses for year 13. Attendance is compulsory. If you want to pick up a new course in year 13 you must visit the STEM 1 Learning Zone and speak to a Curriculum Team Manager at 2.15pm.

PROGRAMME OF TALKS ON 7 MARCH 2019 Each talk will last for a maximum of 45 minutes. If you are unable to go to all the talks you want to, ask a friend to take notes for you. Each of the ‘Why Go To University?’ talks will include a brief introduction to that particular university and will then cover similar information so choose which talk you attend carefully.

The advantages of going to university. There is no need to attend more than one ‘Why go to university?’ talk – they will be similar. An opportunity at the University of Sussex for students to study a range of courses for a year and learn the skills required for university. These courses have lower entry requirements and allow you to progress to a full degree. Degree apprenticeships provide students with a split of university-based modules and in-business work experience. You'll be employed full-time by the business whilst attending university on a day-release basis. On successful completion of the programme you'll be awarded an Honours degree. You will be paid a salary and there are no tuition fees.

The global Music Industry is right now in a period of systemic growth, and the range of exciting jobs for people from Worthing, who live or studied here, is exciting and inspiring. Come and hear about your opportunities in Music and related Creative Industries. This talk will focus on creative art-based foundation courses and would be suited to students interested in fine art, photography, graphics, textiles and media. It is not a higher education course. It is a one year course that helps you decide which area of the creative arts you may wish to focus on in the future. It is often an entry requirement to university. Any Year 13 student who is considering applying for a third year of level 3 study should attend this talk.


WHAT CAN I DO IN A GAP YEAR? These talks will cover opportunities open to those considering time out from formal education and employment. TRIPS TO UNIVERSITY OPEN DAYS The College is organising trips to Royal Holloway University of London, and Portsmouth University on 19 June and 26 June respectively. This is an opportunity to visit on the Open Day to tour the campus, facilities and halls of residence, chat to current students and get information about where to live, how to fund your studies and which clubs and societies to join. There is nocost for this trip but students will need to bring a lunch/drink or money to purchase from vendors on campus. HIGHER EDUCATION EVENING

Tuesday 19 March, 6–7.50pm Worthing College Exhibition Hall All parents/carers of year 12 level 3 students are warmly invited to attend this free event which provides an introduction to the UK higher education system. The talks will be delivered by visiting speakers from local Universities. The workshops will be led by our own guidance staff. Students are welcome to attend.
