General information We have a very busy month celebrating all the festivals and dates above. March is a lovely time in the nursery where we also look at new life and growth. We are hoping for some lovely Spring weather soon. Whilst we have this very severe cold weather please can we ensure the children are dressed appropriately with lots of layers and warm coats, hats, gloves and scarves all named. Thank you in advance. We have some lovely new bags. They are priced at £3.99 if you would like to purchase one, there is one displayed in the entrance hall. Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the nursery survey. We will be analysing the results within the next month. Did you know there is lots of information that parents can help themselves to in the parents area as you walk into the nursery. There is information on potty training, sleep, biting and behaviour. If you can’t find it then please ask and someone will find it for you.

Training Amy and Becky—Supporting boys Donna, Sarah C, Chelsea and Kim have also visited children in their other settings this month. Tel: 01903 275750 Email: nursery@worthing.ac.uk Sanditon Way, Worthing, West Sussex, BN14 9FD www.worthing.ac.uk

Little Eggs This month We are hoping to enjoy lots of spring walks in the sunshine this month. We will be making beautiful Mothers Day gifts for our lovely mummies and getting messy exploring jelly play. We celebrated World Book Day, St David's Day and Holi by exploring with paint! So be prepared to get messy.

Acknowledgements Thank you to Isobel’s mum and auntie for coming in to read with our little eggs.

Other bits and bobs Please let us know about any changes to your child’s routines including bottles and sleep times so we can update our records.

Ideas for home Enjoy some walks together as a family, pointing out different animals, leaves, trees as you walk along.

Caterpillars This month We will be talking about pets and animals. We will be having a special visit from Rea’s Guinea pigs, going to see Jasper the college dog and making our own under the sea fish tank with lots of crafts. Please speak to a member of staff in caterpillars if you would prefer your child not to have contact with the animals. We will enjoy some trips to the local pet shop. We will also be making Mothers day presents and cards, experimenting with colour for the festival of Holi and making rainbows for St Patricks day. We are making Daffodils for St David’s day.

Acknowledgements Thank you to Kirsty for all the Forest School sessions.

Other bits and bobs Our family board is looking very empty. Please email or bring in some photos as it encourages the children to talk about home and family. Please can all clothing be labelled

Ideas for home If you have a pet, encourage independence and learning from others by allowing the children to carry out simple tasks such as brushing them or feeding them dinner. If you don’t have a pet then another option is to visit a pet shop or role play using soft animal toys.

Blossom This month We are looking forward to Mother Day tea and Easter which is not too far away. We have thoroughly enjoyed our pirate week and I hope you enjoyed looking at all the photos. We will be doing lots of lovely Easter activities including watching the daffodils grow and maybe making some of our own! We celebrated World Book Day, St David’s Day and will be celebrating St Patricks Day. We will be exploring colour to celebrate the Holi festival.

Acknowledgements Both Sarah and Sarah have passed their unit 1,2 and 3 of their level 4 coursework

Other bits and bobs Could children only bring in comforters and not toys as they get lost or broken and cause disagreements with other children.

Ideas for home Talk about new life and the story of Easter. Plant some flowers in pots and watch them grow bigger.

Butterflies This month Our dinosaur theme will be coming to an end at Easter. The creations they have made have been amazing. This month we will be focusing on making up stories about dinosaurs following on from World Book day. We will also be playing number games involving dinosaurs including bingo. We will make up our own dinosaur egg nests in the lead up to Easter. March is such a busy month with St David’s day and World Book day on the same day! We will celebrate Holi by using lots of powder paint to create wonderful pictures. We will also make special things for our mummies . We will look at St Patricks day and the story of Easter.

Acknowledgements Thank you to Florence’s mum, Adams mum and Lalita’s dad for coming in and reading stories to celebrate World Book Day.

Other bits and bobs Please make sure that your child has plenty of layers of clothing including warm coats (all labelled) , hats, gloves , scarf as the weather has become extremely cold.

Ideas for home Go on a spring walk (yes it must be around the corner) looking at the different things that grow including flowers and what happens to the trees.

Forest School We will be doing some lovely activities including sawing, nailing and weaving as well as cooking snacks on the fire. The children are wrapped up warm in the winter with splash suits, coats, welly boots, hats, scarves and gloves. We also go out for shorter periods of time. The children will enjoy seeing the Daffodils

Other bits and bobs We would love any unwanted plastic trowels, or metal kitchen equipment for our mud

Ideas for home Visiting the local garden centre. Wyevale in Findon also has a soft play. Look at the spring flowers and talk about new life and growth.
