Editor’s Note Hello again, Thank you for taking the time out again to read the latest issue of Worthy. The response that we are still getting about the digital issues of the magazine and the changes that we have made to the Web site have been wonderful. It really means a lot to me and the people who contribute to the magazine to hear that you support what we are trying to do and that you actually like the site as well as each issue of the magazine. My favorite aspect of this issue has to be our coverage on our readers’ style and our spotlight on the South Florida’s Stylish Kids. It really was a photo shoot that showed us personality is reflected in our clothing at an early age. I loved it. I hope you will love it too. This issue is truly a love letter to our readers. We featured a lot of submitted pictures showcasing YOUR style. After all, you are a worthy subject. Business mogul and musical artist, Raven Symone, quickly silenced a critical audience as whispers of the young starlet’s sexuality began to emerge. The rumor mill paired her with American’s Next Top Model contestant ________. The pair are said to be living together, Raven took to the machine gun killer of all rumors,Twitter, to address the speculations and whispers and responded with a statement that seemed to confirm rather than kill the speculation. “My sexual preference is just that. Mine.”
The President shocked and awed his critical audience when he came out and supported the estimated remaining 4 million Americans who identify themselves as homosexual. His support for same sex marriage placed him light years ahead of the republican and democratic party and his fated presidential opponent Mitt Romney. Whether or not this ingenious move will actually win the President his second term is still a mystery. One thing remains to be seen. His promise of change still glimmers in his political make-up.
News Opinion Romney and Handouts Students and recent college grads seem to have one question for presidential candidate, Mitt Romney. At several town halls, students have asked him how he will help them contend with debt and student loan payments. Romney never hesitates to say that he will do, absolutely nothing to help students. In a shameless appeal to his more mature voters, Romney boasts that he's not going to promise students more "government money". Somehow, Mr. Romney missed the point entirely. While Romney's indifference is appalling, it is the implications of his statement that should concern future generations, most. Romney never fails to justify his callus disposition by stating that students should have only gone to a college that they could afford. While his statement may seem reasonable to some, it is instead, nothing less then a full assault on the concept of Upward Mobility and the mechanisms by which the poor have become middle class and the middle class have become rich.
Zombies
The recent reports of flesh and heart eating incidents, really have people on edge. My opinion? Stay calm people have been doing crazy things for years. However, with the influx of casual drug use, I think we are just seeing an influx of crazy incidents. Not a chemical induced zombie epidemic
The process by which children become more successful then their parents, requires that students have access to more education then their parents. It requires that they have access to more education then their parents can likely, afford. Student loans and grants have been crucial to this process of upward mobility. The son or daughter of a roofer, or waitress; of a chef or janitor, cannot truly afford any college of note. Had Mr. Romney taken a moment to listen, he would have realized that these students were not begging for a handout. They were asking for a reprieve. They never asked him to pay their loans off for them. They just wanted flexibility in their loan terms. They were asking for help not handouts. But to Romney-The Rich- it's all the same.

How to Change Your Look By: Worthy Style Department Changing your look can appear to be a daunting task. However, be encouraged because sometimes change is not as far off on the horizon as it may seem. The style department doesn’t think that you have to take drastic measures to create a new look. Sometimes simple is best. We have compiled a short list of tips for you to follow to drastically change your look with out taking drastic measures.
-Recognize your pattern: The first step in really changing your look begins with recognizing your patterns at the very least. Do you always wear dark colors? Do you always wear bright colors. Do you always wear your straight or parted on a specific side? Once you recognize a pattern begin making a conscious effort to do the opposite. -Opposites attract Never underestimate what you already have.
Try combining pieces that you already have that are complete opposites. Pair your rugged jacket with your soft floral summer dress and have a little fun. Reuse, restyle and recycle. -Color combinations This approach is an oldie but a goodie. Mix match!! The rules are in and you they say explicitly that there are no rules. If you gravitate to dark colors go bright and vice-versa. Don’t go too dark. If anything, create a new look for yourself by combining the your light colors and dark colors.

You Should Know: Danni Cassette Who knew that music could be a form of transportation? One listen to any song from Danni Cassette and that statement becomes pure fact. Her voice literally transports you to another land where the inhabitants speak music and think melody. Sitting down with this musical gem was truly an honor for Worthy. Danni Cassette is definitely an artist you should know. We hope you enjoy the exchange and make sure you check out Danni’s music. I love your name is that your real name? No it isn't my name! My government name is Alyse Calhoun. (Ahleese) I have been called Alice. The spelling throws people I guess!
What is the story behind your stage name? My stage name is a mix of my middle name and how I learned music. My middle name is Danielle, so Danni. “Cassette” came from me using them to learn. My grandmother purchased the classic Fisher Price tape player/ recorder for me for Christmas when I was three.
After that even my grandfather would use his tape deck to teach me harmonies or how different notes sound on his baby grand piano. My mother would record choir rehearsals and I'd steal her tapes to record my own material on. So when she played them back she'd hear me instead.
When did you first get into music?
What was the first song that you ever sang? This question makes me cheese really hard! Ha ha. My first song I remember singing is "The B.I.B.L.E". It’s a simple song that the kids around church would sing, but even early on I added my own touch to it. My mom occasionally mocks me about it. In our times of thinking back, she will throw her head back and sing it like I used to.
I honestly have the upmost respect for true artists, the ones who have an ear for music; People who know where music can go and understand where they can take it. Ella Fitzgerald and Judy Garland are two powerhouses that I grew up on. I always had a love for their vibratos, stage presence, and even their sadness. In some way I always felt like I related to the both of them in their stories. I wanted their brilliance in music to attach to me as well, so my style developed in that direction. I listen well to the instruments, especially the bass and keys. I hate to be left out of their awesome riffs or beautiful progression, so I put my two cents in as well. And I personally think that makes for great music, especially in this time when I think realness is needed.
Who inspires and who would you say you shape your style of music around?
Talk about your current LP. What is the story behind it? What would you say is the message of your album?
I didn't really just get into music. It's very much an innate thing for me; very naturally felt and always present. My family is extremely musical and growing up in church definitely helped me perfect the craft that I know I was born with. I've just always known music was my path…always.
My root is soul and my movement is jazz, but I don't let that confine me to certain genres. I'd just explain "my audio" to be WAY experimental. I love punk, new wave, electronica, and afro punk as well so I fuse that all together. I try to be open and playful when creating. I think of melody in colors. I'm aware of my yellows, violets, and blacks. So I clear my mind so I can have a blank place to create ideas and sounds. I care about how it's created because I also care about how the world will hear and receive it.
My EP... It's a complete story of me as a person. The first song "The Land Of Tapehistry" opens up with me stating my birth and destiny, then unwinds into how tapes are essentially the root of my wisdom, and how I feel that can help our world. Then we change rhythm with "Calibrate" and that describes the process of how you set up a tape machine before you record it and how that can apply to life. Song number three is "Beautiful Endurer", which seems to be a fan favorite! That describes people who have gone through my lowest times of life with me and still find me now to be beautiful.
Just recognizes a great consistency that I need! "Dead Dreamers" follows and it is acapella! It's as strong vocally as it is lyrically. Telling listeners to put hope in their dreams and not to let it be sold to them. They must find that passion and do it. Last but not least I rock way out with "Professor Tapeologist", a very important song to me. It describes intelligence in another light. Mine simply stemmed from tapes and I have carried that until now and will carry it until I die. I am sure of that. It just talks about an expertise I feel goes unnoticed because I didn't learn the normal way. I don't have much academic background and I have learned differently, but I affirm strongly that my brilliance is still very much intact. So with all that being said I just wanted to be sure that I left an amazing idea in the listener’s head. I wanted to be understood as an artist, and for them to have a good look inside themselves. I wanted them to have REEL vocals, and know that life is about growing and progression. I only want people to challenge themselves and work through circumstance and use what you were born with to do it. That's my message.
What obstacles would you say you have overcome already as an artist? My biggest obstacle as an artist has been transitioning into making this a career. Ensuring that people pay me and respect the fact that this is what I do for a living. In the beginning you do free gigs and get your name out there, but it's important to realize your own growth and value as an artist as time passes. Though it's difficult, I still fight through it.
Musically, what are your goals for the future? To evolve of course and get into some songwriting for other artists. I'm currently working on submission for some artists now and I really want to get my production company going. Eventually touring and also putting out an album. What advice would you give to someone who is trying to break into music? I would advise that if you want to get into music you must be strong and consistent. Have a very deep sense of self because you have to be in tune with yourself to do this successfully. Also create freely and don't be afraid to challenge yourself and take risks. Lastly, let no one detour you from the path you are supposed to walk down.
Where do you draw inspiration from? What would you say you sing about the most? A lot of my inspiration comes from listening to instrumentals. It gives me complete freedom to create and write and apply my own vocals. Scenery also warms my soul! The park, being in the city, at the beach, or even at an open mic. I love to take in what's around me. Being in the studio is another thing that helps in my being inspired; watching others create, and engineers mixing and applying effects to make the song great. All of that is just a great mix to aid me in creating my audio. The most? Right now I'd say just understanding yourself in life and passion. Two things I feel are extremely imperative.
