“I

P

raise the Lord and may God bless each of you. As I sat in front of my computer, I tried to write an overview of some of my experiences as the leader of this great organization. It was not an easy task. I am unable to put in words and explain the successes (and sometimes, failures) my achievements have been. However, it is because of the blessing of the good Lord, the prayers and support of God’s people, and the encouragement of the saints that I made it through these thirty years as your Presider. This is now my opportunity to express my heart-felt appreciation for all that each of you have done for me and my family which enabled me to push forward in achieving my goals. You have been a blessing to me. I have given my best and in many cases I felt I did not do enough. I have had the privilege of working with six Vice Presiding Bishops over the last thirty years: Bishop James Hicks, Bishop Jacob A. Green, Bishop John Williams, Bishop James C. Jackson, Bishop Earley Dillard, and Bishop Alphonzo D. Brooks. I’ve also worked with members of the Executive and General Board of Bishops and Pastors and can say that I have not had any personal issues with these great men of God. My priority has always been my responsibilities to the ministry and to the work of God. I cannot and will not retire from the work of God. I am not looking to sit in a rocking chair; I am still very busy as ever. One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 62:1: “For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.” Under my leadership, many many churches have joined us, including missions in Nigeria and India. It is my desire and prayer that The Way of the Cross Church of Chirst, International continue to be a blessing to the people of God. As I come to the close of this era in my life, I plan to become more enthusiastic and have more zeal for the work of Christ. May I say it has been an incredible and extraordinarily bountiful blessing to have the opportunity to be placed as the Presider of this great Body of Believers. I solicit your prayers for my future endeavors. For I purpose to do greater things in the future. My future is greater than my past. Remember dear hearts, we can (and will) do all things through Christ that strengthens us. If I can aid or help you in any way, you have my word that I will. Your Humble Servant, I remain,

Bishop Leroy H. Cannady, Sr. Bishop Leroy H. Cannady, Sr. Presiding Bishop
