February 22, 2014
Dear National Youth for Christ, Greetings and praise the Lord! I want to welcome each of you to the 2014 Winter Jubilee and 60th Diamond Anniversary Celebration of the National Youth for Christ. I want to thank our host, Bishop Johnny Alston and Greater Ransom WOTCC for their gracious hospitality in hosting this historic event. Our theme for today, “Embracing our Legacy” Psalms 44:1.
As many of you know, in February 1954 Mother Isabell Brooks Ford lead a revitalization of the youth department at the Mother Church and named it Youth for Christ. Later that year, at the first convention, in July 1954, the Youth for Christ became the national youth department for the entire Way of the Cross Church body. I ask that you make a special sacrifice to support the remaining national meetings this year as we commemorate the 60th diamond anniversary celebration of the National Youth for Christ. Our theme for this year, “Embracing our Legacy, Pursuing our Destiny” Haggai 2:9. Today, we will begin our year-long 60th anniversary celebration by honoring, and paying tribute to, our former NYFC Presidents: the late Elder Willie Hunter, Deacon John Kearney, the late Bishop John E. Williams, Sr., 1st Vice Bishop Alphonzo D. Brooks, 2nd Vice Bishop Earley Dillard, Bishop Keith D. Nesmith, and District Elder Melvin Easley Jr. (Our founder and first president, Mother Isabell Brooks Ford will be honored separately in October.) We have a great program planned for you today and we hope that you stay until the very end. As you are aware, this year our National Youth for Christ Convocation will be held separately from the general convention, Thursday, June 26 - Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Richmond - Midlothian, (formerly the Holiday Inn), 1021 Koger Center Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia, 23235. The rate for this hotel is $99 plus tax, per night. During the convocation, we will have several commemorative events scheduled along with a host of dynamic services, speakers, and psalmists. In particular, we plan to honor all former executive officers (president, 1st vice, 2nd vice, 3rd vice, executive secretary, and treasurer) at our diamond anniversary gala. We encourage all past and present members of the National Youth for Christ to clear your calendars and book your rooms to attend this great celebration and convocation. Lastly, we will close out our year-long 60th anniversary celebration in Baltimore, Maryland, for our 2014 Fall Jubilee, Friday, October 24 - Saturday, October 25, 2014. During this Jubilee will honor, and pay tribute, to the founder and first president of the National Youth for Christ, Mother Isabell B. Ford (born Oct. 12, 1920). We encourage everyone who has been blessed by her life and legacy to join us in October as we remember this visionary, trailblazer, and woman of God. As we reflect on 60 years, we are grateful for all the leaders, labors, and contributors that have built this great youth department. We pause to praise God for all of His favor, blessings, and miracles that He has given us over the last 6 decades. Indeed 2014 is the year that we will “embrace our legacy” and commission the next generation of youth to “pursue our destiny.” By His grace, I am yours,
District Elder Travell Travis, Esq. National Youth for Christ President

Lady Charity R. Davis Refuge Temple COOLJC Burlington, NC
Lady Charity R. Davis is a native of North Carolina. Educated in North Carolina and Florida, Lady Davis was saved and nurtured through the ministries of her parents, Bishop Johnny Alston and the late Mother Geneva Alston of the Greater Ransom Way of the Cross Temple of Henderson, NC. Lady Davis credits much of her ministry skills to the loving teaching and example of her mother—a godly matriarch who found and developed a multitude of gifts in all of her twelve children. Lady Davis began singing almost before she learned to talk. Her gift became very obvious as a teenager in high school when she was called upon to sing at a multitude of musical church, school and civic events. She was a featured artist annually, in the City of Henderson’s ColorFest. As a young woman, she met and married, Reginald J. Davis. Their respective ministries complemented each other and she soon began traveling and ministering with her husband. Charity’s music ministry continued to flourish as God opened doors for her to share her gift, locally, across the country and around the world. Her credits include: •1997 winner of Vance County NAACP Image Award in Music & Arts

In lieu of celebrating Halloween, the youth department sponsored Hallelujah Night. Our youth participated in various fun activities to name a few - gospel musical chairs, hula-hoop contest, and Bible Jeopardy. In Bible Jeopardy, youth were teamed with adults, so Hallelujah Night was not just for the youth. The YFC department has implemented a mentor program where each youth was paired with a mentor of their choosing. The purpose of the mentor program is for the youth to have the opportunity to get to know the adults in the church. Also this is for the adults to know who our youth are and what they’re all about - bridging the generational gap. The mentor program is designed to promote the desire to be saved and filled with the Holy Ghost with the anticipation of one day becoming a missionary, a deacon, a minister, a pastor, or even a church administrator. We also started a Junior Deacon program for our young men to learn how to assist with offering, treat the sisters with respect, as well as attending to the needs to the older mothers in the church. They also are assisting the pastor as Armor Bearers. All our youth starting from 2nd grade and up are enthusiastically taking notes during sermons. This is to ensure that our youth are tentatively listening and paying attention to the Word of God as well as promoting salvation. The church as a whole has become a partner with a local community, Eutawville, SC, with the South Carolina Heritage and Humanities Festival. The purpose of this festival is to bring unity and harmony among all ethnic and interfaith backgrounds. Our youth also participated in the King’s Day at the Dome March that was held in Columbia, SC.

We were blessed by our Pastor with a limousine tour of New York City and other areas while visiting there. On November 3, the Spiritual Seven of Wirtz, VA, blessed the Martinsville and surrounding areas with a jubilant concert at Shiloh WOTCC. The Shiloh TMC’s opened the program. This was free to the public, sponsored by the Shiloh WOTCC. Our Veterans Day Service was held on November 10. Around twenty Veterans participated in this program. Each Veteran was given a gift from Bishop Dillard. On December 1, our General Secretary, Bishop Ronald
Frazier was guest speaker in the morning service and Bishop Darrell Hairston, pastor of Shiloh Temple WOTC, Charlotte, NC, was guest speaker in the afternoon service. What a glorious time we had in both of these services. On December 22 in the morning service, all choirs rendered a Christmas selection each, followed by the sacred word from Bishop Dillard. Our Christmas Social and Service was held in the lower fellowship hall of the church. An abundance of delicious food was prepared by our membership and the youth Christian Education Department presented a program of singing, recitations, poems, and skits. Bishop Dillard presented everyone in attendance with a Shiloh WOTCC 2014 calendar. Boxes of canned goods donated by the congregation were given to the Salvation Army for Christmas and a local Food Bank each quarter during the year. On December 27, Sis. Lincia Brooke Cannady was the guest speaker at a Lil’ Ladies Tea at Shiloh, and what a great speaker she was. The year concluded with a glorious New Year’s Eve Watch-night service with praise and worship on into the New Year. At the beginning of 2014, Bishop Dillard blessed each family with a bottle of anointed oil. God has truly been good to the Shiloh WOTCC family…so many blessings! “May you have a wonderfully blessed year in Jesus Name!”
The Messenger and encouraged them to continue to live as God would have them live. The theme for this Tea Party was “All Dolled Up”. The young ladies and ladies all arrived in their beautiful dresses, and each young lady was asked to bring their favorite doll. The fellowship hall was beautifully decorated with tea sets and dolls donated by members of Shiloh. At the Low Tea, the guest were favored with a comical skit on the proper way to eat and sip tea. They were also favored with a musical selection by 9-year old Cierra Hagwood, Petite Miss Martinsville and Henry County. Afterwards, everyone was welcome to visit the Candy Store and Gingerbread Land where you were free to eat as much candy or decorate as many cookies as your tummy desired! However, the highlight of the evening was our speaker, Sis. Lincia Brooke Cannady, National Junior Youth for Christ President from Atlanta Metro WOTCC, Stone Mountain, GA. What a remarkable job she did encouraging the ladies, young and old, through words and song. She placed a completely new meaning to the phrase “All Dolled Up” by encouraging the ladies to do their best and put on their best for Jesus. “Don’t be afraid to be different, for we all are princesses for our King” she stated. She also admonished everyone to get salvation and heed to the teachings of their parents and pastors. It was such an inspirational speech and our hearts rejoiced over the wonderful message coming from a lovely 12-year-old daughter of Christ. Each young lady was given a porcelain tea set to commemorate the evening and hopefully…memories that will last a life time. Happy Birthday Bishop Dillard “January 29” May God bless your year with reminders from beginning to end of the blessing you are as He takes great delight in you.We love you. For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God; -1 Thessalonians 3:9

Beautiful soul An original poem by
Kayla A. Young Refuge WOTCC
S
ometimes we hurt, sometimes we feel pain. Sometimes we face hard times, sometimes we face the rain. Sometimes we blame ourselves; sometimes all we want to do is cry. We ask why the shame? Why me Lord, why? We all want to be free of sin and hurt. We all want to be well knowledged and alert. We are like baby birds learning how to fly; eager to test their wings, eager to soar through the sky. But at many points we lack confidence and struggle with insecurities we face. But we need to stop and realize we only made it this far by God’s grace. He chose me above all. He catches me when I’m about to fall. So next time you come in contact with the struggles of life; love, no fear; love, no strife. So the very next time you feel no control just say, ‘Oh yes I do because God gave me a beautiful soul’.

On the first Sunday in January, our church held its annual Family First Sunday Service. This was a tremendous blessing to the families in our congregation. On this Sunday, the church officially welcomed the Butler family and welcomed back the Ridley family. We praise God for adding to our church family on the first Sunday in 2014. During the month of February, our Men’s Ministry sponsored Super Sunday. The morning worship was entitled, “Jeans and Jersey.” The church was given the opportunity to dress casually and wear a jersey or tee shirt of their favorite college or sports team. Later that day, the Men’s Ministry sponsored our first, “Super Bowl Fellowship.” The church was treated to great food and fellowship along with movies, board games, and a live stream of the Super Bowl. Indeed, it was great day for the City of Refuge Church family. In closing, we ask that you continue to keep us in prayer as we endeavor to build a city of refuge for God’s people in Richmond, VA.

empowerment and healthy relationship symposium in Calvert County, held on January 25, 2014. The seminar focused on cyber bullying, dating violence, domestic violence, recognition, and prevention. Bethel Young Adult Ministry (Y.A.M) is on the move, inspiring our young adults to stay fired up for the Lord. As we continue to go higher in the Lord with more Word, Holy Ghost explosions, and fellowships, the Lord shows Himself strong in our midst. In October, one of your young adults, Sis. Melissa Harris, participated in the cancer survivor 5k walk. Y.A.M. supported the Teen Ministry in a coat drive for the winter. In December, the Y.A.M. married couples fellowshipped with the Marriage Enrichment Ministry in an event called “Up on the Roof” the story of David and Bathsheba. What a great time they had!
The Teen ministry at Bethel has planned several events over the last few months. Let’s take an inside peek as to what they have been up to: The teen ministry has begun what is called “Teen Spotlight.” Every month they take the time to recognize one teen. The chosen teen has to write a bio on themselves, including their favorite scripture, subject in school, a little about them, as well as giving them a chance to encourage their peers. Each participating teen receives a Teen Spotlight t-shirt, certificate, and a live interview that is viewed by the church. The teen’s in the spotlight: December - Sis. Brieana Echols; January - Bro. Joshua Heigh; and February - Sis. Shayna Easton. We have started off this new year with our YFC Ministry meeting. We shared some goals for this year and we encouraged the teens to get pumped and stay pumped for JESUS! The YFC Ministry motto for this year is “Let’s Go Get It!” We want the teens to not be ashamed of being a light in a dark world, and to seek after what God has in store for them by Faith! We did a winter coat, hat, scarf, and glove drive to help those who are homeless and families who are less fortunate. We have a Teen Facebook page! On this page we reach out to encourage our teens. We send daily encouraging words to them. We also use it to keep them informed of upcoming services and events. Some of our teens attended the Teen Symposium: 2014, a youth

Redeemed, a group formed out of Bethel, rocked the house on Friday evening kicking off our Homecoming Celebration. On Saturday the youth enjoyed a fun-filled night at Dave and Busters in Arundel Mills, MD. God was truly in the house, blessing every soul that received Him! What a time...what a time we had. Visitors from far and near came to worship and celebrate with us. The youth ministry put on a Christmas play in December 2013 called “A Christmas Never to Forget.” It was a Christian spin on

Although we have no current baptisms to report, we would like to recognize our very own T’Andria Makell for rededicating her life to Christ. We rejoice in Jesus for bringing His daughter back home. Continue to lift her in prayer as she continues her walk with Christ. Upcoming Events: Our Youth Ministry will be incorporating youth bible class. Our mission is to equip and educate youth in the word of God. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 The Y.A.M. is planning a service entitled “It’s Time To Live” from 2 Samuel 13. More information is forthcoming. On February 16, 2014, the Teen Ministry will have a fellowship between services. They will take the time to focus on Black History Month.

musical performances, invited to wear clothing themed from the 70’s era and the message that Christmas is not about the material things we attain, but is the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was delivered to everyone that attended! All proceeds from the production went to our Memorial Scholarship Ministry. This year we are blessed to have five graduating seniors, of whom, four are young men who will each receive scholarships toward their college education. Happy Birthday Bishop Gamble! Bishop Gamble celebrated his 47th birthday on January 24. Atlanta Metro Way of the Cross Church of Christ Stone Mountain, GA | Bishop Eric L. Cannady, Pastor
G
od is great and greatly to be praised! We bring you greetings from Atlanta Metro WOTCC where we are impacting the future by pointing to the cross. Our youth have several noteworthy accomplishments that we, as a congregation, are proud of. We had thirteen members added to our Youth for Christ department. We are pleased to announce that in addition to this, we had three births, including the birth of the third child for Bishop and First Lady Cannady. They had a son, Ashton Dillard Cannady. We had three christenings and seven to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Three of our young people received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. We thank God for His showers of blessings. This year we had two brothers from the YFC, Daniel Millner and Everett Hagans, get ordained as Deacons. They were ordained at the Southern Region meeting hosted in Charlotte, NC. Atlanta Metro encourages our youth to excel academically. We had several students make the honor roll, two to graduate from high school and two to graduate from college. One of our youth received advancement in their professional career and one received their certification in the field of education. We are so proud of the academic success of our youth. We have a few students that we would like to spotlight. Darrius, an elementary student, made significant progress in school. Darrius has gone from having difficulties in school to becoming an A/B honor roll student and has successfully turned his conduct grade from unsatisfactory to satisfactory, all while maintaining a perfect attendance record. Another one of our youth, Aujanee, is a senior in High School. She is a member of the basketball team, soccer team, band, SADD (students Against Destructive Decisions) and maintains a 3.1 GPA. Our Pastor champions education and practices what he preaches to our congregation. His son Christian has maintained straight A’s throughout the school year and Lincia earned all A’s and one B while being enrolled in Advanced Placement classes. Due to Lincia’s excellent performance on a recent state grade-level standardized test, she qualified to participate in the highly selective
Duke University Talent Identification Program. The Duke TIP is committed to serving students with advanced academic abilities by providing services and programs to meet their individual needs. Participation in TIP can offer opportunities for above level curriculum, testing, educational programming, and later evaluation by Duke University. We are more than proud of the youth at Atlanta Metro for their academic success. We have had some very successful programs this past year designed to keep our youth enjoying this life in Christ. This fall, the youth had an evening of fun and fellowship during this year’s hallelujah night festivities. While the world celebrated ghost and goblins, we were in the house of God celebrating for a different reason. The children enjoyed fun and games including musical chairs, a pie eating contest, costume contest, food, candy, and more. We had a powerful “Untainted Conference 2013” with the importance of confession as the focus. It was a time to confess your sins to God and cast your cares upon Him. So many of the young people expressed how they really took advantage of the program and released things they had been holding on to. To God be the Glory! We also implemented the youth round table where we allowed our young people to talk about the issues they face on a day to day basis. They were able to talk freely and receive great spiritual advice from Bishop Cannady and also their youth leaders. With the help of the Lord, we will continue to coordinate programs that will strengthen the youth’s spiritual life. God spoke to the heart of our Bishop concerning the growth of the ministry. God has a plan for Atlanta Metro Way of the Cross and we are working diligently to be prepared for what God has for his people. Under the leadership of Bishop Eric L Cannady, Atlanta Metro we’ll reach higher heights. Continue to pray much for us as we are enjoying the overflow and moving closer to God. Interviews from
Former NYFC Presidents Who served with you during your term(s) as NYFC President?
• Deacon John Kearney: Elder Hunter in 1961. I came in 1963 and Bishop H.C. Brooks told me I had to take over. I had just got saved in 1958, but Bishop told me that I could do it! Sis. Mae Williams worked with me at the time. • Bishop Alphonzo Brooks: I had many different people to serve with me throughout all of my terms: David Neil, Scott Miller, Chauncey Lancaster, and Earley Dillard, just to name a few. • Bishop Earley Dillard: Elder Richard Simon (1st VP), Bishop Keith Nesmith (2nd VP), Sister Delphine Easley (3rd VP), Deacon Earl Dodson (Treasurer), & Sister Roberta Knight (Secretary). • District Elder Melvin Easley: I had many to serve along side me, such as, Elder Eric Jackson, D/E Travell Travis, Minister Ezra Easley, Sister Roberta Knight, Sister Laura Thomas, Elder Celister Richardson, Elder O’Brien Echols, Sister LaMonica Williams; and other key people such as, Elder Jeff Hairston, Sister Aneisa Simon, Sister LaVonya Echols, & Sister Sherrie Miller.
What would you consider to be your greatest achievement while in office as National YFC President?
• Deacon Kearney: Having Bishop John Williams follow me after my term. • Bishop Brooks: I changed the terms from 5 years to 2 years, and also changed the voting procedure from stand up voting to the current ballot voting during the election. My administration & I also enlarged the YFC functions out of churches into hotels encouraging the YFC to travel to places that do not have WOTC churches. • Bishop Dillard: Bringing together the North & South; everyone became united. Also, bringing in a host of Apostolic preachers from different organizations. In my tenure I saw the spirituality rise, as well as the attendance. • District Elder Easley: Spiritual growth in the youth; unifying the body; forming Daughters of Destiny; helping to start a church in Greensboro, NC; the first National Scholarship--Mother Isabell Brooks Ford Memorial Scholarship Fund; Vision planning; and revamping registration by allowing small churches to be recognized for their achievements.
Who was Presiding Prelate during your time in office?
• Deacon Kearney: Bishop H.C. Brooks. • Bishop Brooks: I was NYFC President under 3 Presiding Prelates: Bishop J.L. Brooks, Bishop H.C. Eggleston, & Bishop Leroy H. Cannady, Sr. • Bishop Dillard: Bishop Leroy H. Cannady, Sr. • District Elder Easley: My grandfather, Bishop Leroy H. Cannady, Sr. It was the first time in history where the Presiding Bishop (grandfather) of the NYFC President (grandson) were in office at the same time.
What was the most memorable city visited during your time in office?
• Deacon Kearney: Baltimore, MD because I could visit my mother who went to Refuge WOTCC. • Bishop Brooks: Baton Rouge, LA in 1980. • Bishop Dillard: Orlando, FL • District Elder Easley: Greensboro, NC because despite opposition and advice not to go, I felt the need to go after hearing the vision & prayers of our Presiding Bishop Cannady. As a result, souls were saved, the glory fell, and people were delivered.
How many terms did you serve as National YFC President, and did you serve as a officer in other administrations, if so, whose?
• Bishop Brooks: I served as NYFC President for many terms and years. I started off as a Parliamentarian in 1966 and later was 1st Vice President for 5 years under John Williams’ administration. • Bishop Dillard: I served 21/2 terms as NYFC President. I first served as Treasurer under Bishop Brooks’ administration. • District Elder Easley: I served 21/2 successful terms. I also served under Bishop Keith Nesmith as the National Chaplain.
What were some of the “Hot Topics” surrounding youth in general during your time in office?
• Deacon Kearney: “Put Christ first and foremost in your life” • Bishop Brooks: Youth having friends out of church, youth intermingling with other organizations, youth playing sports, youth playing in the band, and youth having boyfriends or girlfriends outside of their local church was frowned upon. We had to date someone at our own church. • Bishop Dillard: Unification of the whole body, and for the youth to have their place amongst the general body. • District Elder Easley: Topics such as, “Where do I fit in?”; the gap between generations; changes in communication (i.e. cell phones, computers, etc); and youth not focusing on the truth but being hindered by other forms, styles, and doctrines.
What were your initial goals for running for office, and do you feel your administration accomplished these goals during your tenure as National YFC president?
• Deacon Kearney: To add more souls to the church. Yes. • Bishop Brooks: To reach out to other organizations and fellowship; get outside speakers; and venture out to other cities without churches. • Bishop Dillard: Unify of the whole body, young & old. I also wanted to set the age limit to run for NYFC President to age 35; however, I did not accomplish that goal. I also helped encourage a female to run and enter the office of Vice President. • District Elder Easley: My goals were to unify the body by getting people more involved; Enhance the young people both spiritually and academically; and to equip the young people to evangelize within their local churches. I’m very happy with my administration and wouldn’t trade the 5 years I served as NYFC President for anything.

Former NYFC Presidents continued on the next page...
Interviews from
Former NYFC Presidents How has the National Youth for Christ changed since being out of office, and do any of these changes tie back to decisions you made as National YFC President?
• Deacon John Kearney: The current YFC president, District Elder Travis, is doing a great job… The change is that it is growing because he travels to different places. I learned that from Bishop Alphonzo Brooks. I feel that Elder Travis is doing a great job. The NYFC has “spread out” which is great. Mark 16:15 says, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” • Bishop Alphonzo Brooks: It really hasn’t changed, just progressed. We have an intelligent group of people in office mostly being pastors that are the leaders, and with that being the case they can’t help but be successful. • Bishop Earley Dillard: The youth targets nothing but the youth. The educational levels are being pushed harder, which is good, but it is being pushed too far to the point where spirituality is being left out. Sometimes it feels like a competition. • District Elder Melvin Easley: The National Youth for Christ just continued to grow, however the current challenge of the NYFC was on getting young people more involved. On top of having the age groups still separated (intermediate and junior youth) the implementation of adding the young adults gave those who weren’t junior youth or intermediate a voice and opportunity to do more in the ministry. Also setting up the various age groups to mimic the current set up of the National Youth for Christ by having a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, 3rd Vice President, Secretary and Treasure in each entity. Technology is even more vast now, a lot of different social media sites being implemented, making it easier to get messages out in masses and fast.
What one person had the most influence on you in terms of the style and approach you used to lead the National Youth for Christ?
• Deacon Kearney: Bishop Alphonzo Brooks because he went from City to City. And that is what I’m doing now with the National Deacon Board. • Bishop Brooks: John Williams, “My Mentor”. • Bishop Dillard: Bishop Brooks. • District Elder Easley: My Grandfather, Bishop Leroy Cannady Sr. I learned a lot from him, his teachings, and his wisdom. Also, my mom, Sister Delphine Easley, has been a great inspiration and role model my entire life. She was the first female to hold the office of 3rd Vice President of the National Youth for Christ. But everyone in their own special way influenced me, from the greatest to the least.
What was the most memorable meeting, service or speaker and why??
• Deacon Kearney: In Baltimore, MD, LR Harris from the Mother Church came to preach, and God has blessed us through the years. • Bishop Brooks: The most memorable meeting was in Baton Rouge, LA. We had baptismal services at the hotel pool 2 separate days baptizing many that were not even in the organization, they were just in the area or hotel and wanted to give their life to the Lord. Out of that meeting birthed a church in the city in 1980. We also came back and did a crusade at Southern University and close to 1000 souls came for altar call. The most memorable speaker I can think of for the NYFC is Pastor Marvin Sapp which was in the summer of 2000 also in Baton Rouge, LA. • Bishop Dillard: When I would preach on Friday nights to close the convention. The congregation and I would always leave feeling good and uplifted, and blessed. I regret not getting TD Jakes to preach when I had the opportunity. • District Elder Easley: A memorable meeting was the convention held in Alexandria, VA at the Hilton hotel. In one of the night services, we had raised over $10,000. Right before the service, someone had pulled the fire alarm. The enemy will show up in various ways, but the glory always over powers the enemy’s attacks.
What are some words of wisdom and encouragement that you’d like to leave with today’s National Youth for Christ? • Deacon John Kearney: Three scriptures --- “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14); “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:6); & “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” (2 Timothy 2:3-5). • Bishop Alphonzo Brooks: My words of wisdom for today’s NYFC are to “stay focused on Christ…be Youth for Christ”. • Bishop Earley Dillard: I would like to see the NYFC bring back the involvement of the youth and the elderly to make up an even stronger Youth for Christ. • District Elder Melvin Easley: I want to thank the national body for allowing me to serve for five years, they were the best years of my life. I will never forget the love displayed to me by the young and the old. The young people are my heart. We shouldn’t wait for them to grow up to begin working in the church; their ministry starts when they are young. They are not the church of tomorrow, they are the church of right now! I want to encourage the current administration that they are off to a great start. Keep the love and unity a major factor while serving in office. To the young people, I leave you these words: Do not be fooled. In Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all of these things shall be added unto you.” Never loose sight of what’s important in life. Making God the most important priority of your life. God will never let you down. Everything else will fade away-money, health, relationships, etc. But God will always remain constant and faithful. Never forget that!
