2012 Yearbook

Page 1

Dear Seniors: Congratulations on your graduation from WPSD. This is a huge milestone and your parents, WPSD staff and friends are very proud of you. You are living in exciting times. When you entered kindergarten, email and the Internet were new and exciting developments. TTY’s and relay services were important means of communication. Through the years, technology has improved by leaps and bounds to the point where many younger Deaf and Hard of Hearing folks have never used a TTY! Instead, we have pagers, iPads, video relay services, Skype and many other ways to communicate with others or to use as learning tools. Who knows what new inventions are waiting for us!! WPSD has tried hard to prepare you for the ever changing world. I believe we have done a good job and wish you much success in your future endeavors. Please remember us fondly and come back to visit us often. Warmest Regards,

Donald Rhoten

The Wild West Trip

We went to the “Wild West for our 11th grade trip. First we flew to Phoniex, Arizona. It was 115 degrees! We visited different kinds of places. We got on a boat and went to see Catalina Island. Then, we went to lunch and later did some shopping. Another place that we visited was Bryce Canyon. Bryce Canyon was really big, red and beautiful. The guide told us a story about why the Canyon was red. Then we went to the Grand Canyon. We walked on a long path that goes down into the Grand Canyon and looked around. It was so beautiful! The last place we went to see was the Hoover Dam. The guide led us around and told us a story about the dam. Then we flew back to Pennsylvania! We had so much fun doing so many different things and visiting beautiful places. We will never forget our Wild West trip!

Alex Dutrow

Eighteen years ago I was blessed with a beautiful son. Through the years I've always been proud of how smart you are and proud to be your mom. Even when you go through tough times you're able to turn things around for yourself. As you enter the next phase of life, your knowledge and your skills from past experiences will serve you well. Know that I will always be here for you and I will always be proud of you! Love, Mom

Alex, Let me start by saying how proud of you I am! I’ve known you for the better part of 3 years and when I first met you, you were shy and withdrawn. Now you are super social and outgoing. You have done an outstanding job academically and physically and I hope you are as proud of your accomplishments as I am of them. Let me finish by saying you are now on the verge of starting your life and enjoy your time and appreciate the experiences and friends you have and will gain. I know you will go on to do tremendous things and know that I am now and will no doubt be proud to call you my friend! Congratulations! Keith

Megan - We are so proud of you. You are a beautiful young lady inside and out. We love you.

To our son Richard,

Richard Mikula-Nichols

Even though you have only been our son for 9 years, we can’t be more proud of you even if we had you from birth. The 9 years you have been in our life has made our family complete. We are so proud of your accomplishments. We are amazed how you achieve your goals in life with the many obstacles that challenge you.

106 Seniors

Our home was changed by your witty and silly personality, the many times you tried to scare us, and the off the wall antics you have shown. When you started your life with us you had found a life of unconditonal love and support, not only with us but our extended family. Words can’t express how much you mean to us and how much we love you. Love Always, Your Dads, Dave and Bill

We are very lucky to have you added to our family. You are a gift to us. You have been such a wonderful and beautiful girl. We want so much for you to have a good strong future. We know you can achieve all you want to do. From your babyhood to adulthood, sweetness has always been in you. We are excited to see what you will be when you leave school and go to your next step. There are so many choices and dreams in life out there. We are always proud of you. I know for sure that your dad is always very proud of you. Love, Grace and Jeff

Shirley Shirk
