Leap to the Finish Line Our sports related theme compares students to athletes. We are in the game of school. We compete long and hard to make the grade, to achieve success. For twelve or more years we meet in the classroom, on the practice fields, on the track. We are challenged, we strive, we reach--finally, we leap to the finish line!

Dear Class of 2007: In the next few days you’ll be graduating from WPSD and starting a new chapter of your life. Congratulations in attaining this major milestone of your life. Your parents, WPSD staff and friends are proud of you and share with you this wonderful accomplishment. Whatever your plans after you leave WPSD, I hope you will work hard, try your best and find a career in an area that gives you a sense of satisfaction. I recently read something that I liked and want you to consider..... “Your life should not be measured by the number of breaths you take, but, by, the moments that take your breath away!” I hope you will experience many of those moments and make the most of them that you possibly can. Good luck and best wishes to you! Warmest regards,

OUR NEW YORK CITY TRIP by Phillip Kaminski
At 5:30 am, we got on the bus and were on our way to New York. Bud was our tour guide. We watched the movie The National Treasures. At 12 or 1 pm, we finally arrived in New York City by way of the Holland Tunnel. First thing, we went to the World Trade Center site where we saw people working. More things are being recovered. After that we went shopping in Time Squares. It was so much fun! Then we went to Planet Hollywood for dinner. Finally we ended our day at the Country Inn Hotel. To waste time we went to the pool and the hot tub for about 2 hours. Then next morning at 7 am, we went downstairs for breakfast. Then we started our day at the Museum of Art where we saw many nice things. We were supposed to go to FAO Schwarz after the museum, but no time due to the traffic! We ate lunch at museum. We left the museum in a bad rainstorm. Next we went to a show-- Beauty and the Beast! Several other deaf schools were also there. The performance was so wonderful! After that, we went to a fancy Italian restaurant called The Casinas. Mange!! Last, we went to the Empire State Building. We had to take 3 elevators to get to the top of the building. It was beautiful and very cold. Then we went to the pool again as soon as we returned to the hotel. Before the next day, we decided to pack our suitcases. We got our stuff ready, ate breakfast, then checked out from the hotel. We were supposed to go into the tunnel, same as on Tuesday. Unfortunately, a garbage truck turned over, so we couldn’t get through! The bus driver found another way to get to the ferry which took us to Ellis Island. Some kids from our class found their grandparents’ names on the wall. Then we took a ferry to the Statue of Liberty. Its really huge! We ate lunch there, saw a impersonater who pretended to be Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, who designed the Statue of Liberty many years ago. Then we got back on the bus and began the long return trip to WPSD. We ate at Burger King and watched The Breakup movie. It’s good. We really wanted to stay in New York longer because we have good memories there! The next day, all of us who went to the Big Apple were VERY TIRED.
