Introduction Welcome to our book about donuts! Each week we tasted a new donut from different donut stores around Vancouver, and then we reviewed and rated each one. We all made up our own rating systems, and talked about what we liked and didn’t like about each donut. We hope you try some of these donuts yourself, and that you enjoy our book!

Reviewer: ABBY DONUT RATING SYSTEM:

It doesn’t taste good. It doesn’t look good. It doesn’t have any topping. It doesn’t have enough sugar. It does have lots of sugar.

DONUT #1:  duffin’s donuts

This donut is from Duffin’s Donuts. I would give it five out of five because it has a lot of sugar. It was a good size and I liked everything about it. But I would make it bigger. I would buy this donut again.

DONUT #2: LEE’S DONUTS

The Lee’s donut was from Granville Island. It looked like it was delicious and it tasted good. But I would rate it two out of five because it tasted like plastic.

My favourite donut of the week was the Duffin’s donut.

1

Reviewer: B.D. DONUT RATING SYSTEM: There was hair in the donut. It was mouldy. It was soggy. It was expensive and mouldy. I want my money back. It was MEH. It was good. Mouldy, but I liked it. It was the best. I think about it all the time.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

This was a Duffin’s sprinkled donut. I rate it five out of five. I would buy it again. I would eat it again. It was blue and good. I didn’t like that it was dry. I would change the donut to have more icing. DONUT #2:  Cartems Donuts

This was a vanilla bean donut. It was brown and it had vanilla topping. I rate it five out of five because it was good and tasty. I would add more icing. DONUT #3:  Lee’s Donuts

This was a honey-dipped donut. Based on the first bite, it was ten out of ten. It was from Lee’s Donuts on Granville Island. For my shoe rating system, it would be five out of five. It was so good. I liked the honey. It could probably have used a little more honey. The packaging was okay. It tasted a bit cheap.

Out of all the donuts I tried, my favourite was the Duffin’s donut because it had sprinkles. My advice to donut makers in Vancouver is to use more sprinkles.

GLUTEN FREE

!

Reviewer: EMIL

DONUTS DONUT RATING SYSTEM: Too dull. Very hard. Too sweet. Hard. Sorta hard, but sweet. Too squishy by a bit, but tastes good. Just right (not too sweet, not too dull) and squishy messy.

DONUT #1:  Kinnikinnick Donuts

These donuts were from Kinnikinnick. The cinnamon one I give three tacos and the chocolate one five tacos. The cinnamon gets three because it was not as squishy as the chocolate. I would recommend them both. They tasted good. I recommend them to everyone. For the cinnamon one, I would make it more squishy. The chocolate was perfect. DONUT #2: The Gluten Free Epicurean

I preferred the ones from Kinnikinnick because they weren’t as sweet and hard. These donuts were from the Gluten Free Epicurean. I rate the apple cruller three out of five because it wasn’t sweet and it was a bit hard. I didn’t like the apple bits. I rate the vanilla chai donut two out of five because it was hard and too sweet. DONUT #3:  Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery

These donuts were from Lemonade. I rate the apple rhubarb a two because it was too sweet and hard. I rate the cinnamon danish a three because it was kind of sweet and kind of hard.

My favourite donut was the chocolate one from Kinnikinnick because it was soft and squishy and sweet.

3

Reviewer: EVA DONUT RATING SYSTEM: It has no sprinkles on it. It should be bigger. Get more sprinkles! It’s too sweet for me but other people might like it. It has fewer sprinkles. It has a lot of sprinkles, is less sweet and with less sugar, and it has sprinkles inside.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

This rainbow sprinkles donut was from Duffin’s. I give it a smile face because it looks good but the bottom should be more sweet and have more sprinkles. There was no sugar on the bottom. I liked it because it had sprinkles and it had chocolate, and because of how it looked. I did not like that it had no sugar on the bottom. Dip it in more sprinkles and put sugar on the bottom. DONUT #2:  Cartems Donuts

I forget what kind of donut it was. It was pink and sweet. I rate this donut a yuck face because it had too sweet a taste, it tasted cheap and the icing was breaking off. It smelled like squishy and it felt bad in my stomach. I would not eat this donut. It should have sprinkles and be not that sweet. I like the Duffin’s donut more. I would not recommend it to anyone. DONUT #3:  Lee’s Donuts

This donut was from Lee’s. It was jelly with sugar. It looked like it had a lot of sugar. I rate it a happy face. It was really good, and I would buy it again. It smelled sweet. It had jelly. It had too much sugar, and I would put more jelly in it. I would recommend it to kids and adults.

My favourite donut was Lee’s.

4

Reviewer: GORGEOUS DONUT RATING SYSTEM: It was minty. It was plain. It had sprinkles and icing. It had gummies. It had Skittles, sprinkles, ice cream and icing.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

I rate Duffin’s 0.5 out of five. It tasted not really good. It looked boring (plain old boring). I liked the sugar. I didn’t like how it looked. I would add icing, sprinkles, gummies, ice cream, candy, muffins, chocolate and sugar (more of everything). DONUT #2:  Cartems Donuts

I rate the Cartems chocolate donut three out of five because it tasted good. Yes, I would eat it again. I liked the chocolate. I liked this donut better than the Duffin’s donut. But I would add more sprinkles and chocolate. DONUT #3:  Lee’s Donuts

This donut was from Lee’s Donuts. This donut was called chocolate crunch. This donut was covered in chocolate sprinkles. Ten out of ten is what I would rate this donut.

My favourite donut was the one from Lee’s Donuts.

5

Reviewer: JACK DONUT RATING SYSTEM: The donut was bland. The donut had hair on it. The donut had a piece of mould on it. It was bland. It was soggy and wet. It was crunchy. It was MEH. It was big. It was not the best, but it was just good. It was the best donut. The sprinkles were on point and on fleek.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

This was a Duffin’s honey dip. I give it five out of five shoes. This was the best donut ever. It tasted amazing, looked amazing and smelled delicious. It was perfect. There were no bad factors. Perfect. I wouldn’t change it. Wait, maybe it could be bigger. I wouldn’t add anything. Buy this. DONUT #2:  Cartems Donuts

This was from Cartems. It was vanilla bean. It was my precious. It was giant. I rate it four shoes out of five. It was pretty good—not the best but good. The taste was “meh.” Duffin’s was better. I would not buy it again, but I would like to recommend it to people who like to buffer.

I would buy the Duffin’s donut again.

6

Reviewer: JOCELYN DONUT RATING SYSTEM: This was the worst donut: no decoration, no flavour. It is a little bit better, with a little decoration and flavour. It was OK: it had decoration and flavour and something sweet inside. It was great: more sweet flavour, jelly inside, sprinkles. It was delicious: a lot of decoration, flavour, jelly, a lot of sprinkles.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

This was a rainbow sprinkle donut. I give it five cats because it had colour, it was delicious, and it looked amazing. I like the colour and rainbow sprinkles. I don’t like that it was plain on the bottom. I’d change the bottom from plain to sugar. I’d buy it again because it looked nice. I’d recommend it to everyone. DONUT #2:  Cartems Donuts

The flavour of this donut was vanilla bean. It was round and had white icing, and it was delicious. I’d rate it a four. It tasted good, smelled like the PNE and was vanilla. I liked the flavour and the roundness but I didn’t like that it had no SPRINKLES! I mostly would change it so there were sprinkles on it. I liked this one better than Duffin’s. DONUT #3:  Lee’s Donuts

This was the jelly filled with sugar. It looked like a square, and I rate it a four because it isn’t a proper circle-shaped donut. It tasted like the PNE mini donuts. I liked it because it had jelly inside and it was coated with sugar. I didn’t like that it had no frosting . . . and no sprinkles. I would recommend it to kids and adults.

My favourite donut was the Cartems donut.

7

Reviewer: KAIA DONUT RATING SYSTEM: It will be not so good because it will have bad, bad taste. An adult might not like it because it’s not good. It is a little bit bad, but maybe good. It starts to get a little good and a little bad. It is getting way more good and I am liking it way more. It is really, really good because it is sweet and I will love it.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

This rainbow sprinkles donut was from Duffin’s Donuts. I give this donut five out of five because it was really good and it had sprinkles on it and because of how the icing was sweet. What I liked about the donut was it that it had so much sugar, so it was so good. There was nothing I did not like about it. I would give the icing rainbow colours. I would eat this again. DONUT #2:  Cartems Donuts

This donut was from Cartems. It was a chocolate glazed donut. My donut was messy with the chocolate. I give this donut four out of five. I’ve rated this donut like this because it was messy. What I like about the donut is that it had lots of chocolate. I didn’t like that it was messy. I would make it look nicer. I liked the Duffin’s donut better than this one, and I would bring the Duffin’s donut to a party. DONUT #3:  Lee’s Donuts

This donut was from Lee’s Donuts. The donut was called honey dip. I give this donut five out of five. I rated this donut a five because it is really good. There is nothing I do not like about it. What I would do if I had to change the donut is add sprinkles.

The Lee’s donut is my favourite.

8

Reviewer: KEONA DONUT RATING SYSTEM: If I give the donut “one donut” that means I don’t like it. If I give the donut I just ate a “two donuts” it means I don’t hate it but it’s just a little bit better. If I give the donut I just ate “three donuts” it means I don’t mind it but it’s too small. If I give the donut I just ate “four donuts” it means I like it because it has sprinkles. If I give the donut I just ate “five donuts” it means I LOVE it because it has everything I like. It’s the best donut.

Reviewer: MATIAS DONUT RATING SYSTEM:

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

This honey dip donut was from Duffin’s. I give it five out of five. I liked the shape and taste. I liked the yellow colour of my donut. The sprinkles tasted more sweet. It was good because it smelled like donuts. I would buy it again. I would not change anything. DONUT #2:  lucky’s donuts

My strawberry buttermilk donut is from Lucky’s. The other donuts were much better. I like the icing on Duffin’s better. The toppings on this one tasted too sweet and too sour. DONUT #3:  Lee’s Donuts

I would give Lee’s five stars. I liked Lee’s because of the jelly donut. I like the donut because I liked the powder sugar topping. The donut was jelly. In one donut it was strawberry jelly. I would not change anything about this donut.

My favorite donut was the Lee’s donut.

10

Reviewer: MAX DONUT RATING SYSTEM: It is coffee flavoured. It is plain. It is spicy. It has jelly. It has chocolate sprinkles, and it’s like a birthday cake with icing.

DONUT #1:  duffin’s donuts

This was a rainbow sprinkles donut Duffin’s. I give it a 4.5 out of five rating. It had a lot of sprinkles. It had no smell. I liked that it tasted like a lot of icing. It was pink with sprinkles. I didn’t like that it had no chocolate. I would add chocolate. I would get it again and again and again and again. DONUT #2: CARTEMS DONUTS

This was a vanilla bean donut from Cartems. I give it a four out of five rating. This donut smelled unique. It tasted yummy. It looked too plain, and it would look better with sprinkles. I would change it to have different icing, like rainbow icing. DONUT #3:  LEE’S DONUTS

This donut was from Lee’s Donuts. This donut was called a powered donut. I would rate this donut four out of five because it did not have jelly in it.

I loved the Duffin’s Donut because it was yummy.

11

Reviewer: STACEY DONUT RATING SYSTEM: It had jelly or coconut. It was brown. It had green icing or white icing. It had yellow icing or sprinkles. It was a honey-dipped éclair.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

This was a rainbow sprinkles donut from Duffin’s Donuts. I give it a four out of five rating. It was super yummy. I would change nothing. DONUT #2:  Cartems Donuts

This was a Cartems vanilla bean donut. It was an all white donut. I give it a three out of four rating because it was OK but so yummy. I liked the icing. There was nothing I didn’t like. If I would change the donut I would put sour Skittles on it. DONUT #3:  Lee’s Donuts

This donut was from Lee’s Donuts. This donut was honey dipped. This donut looked big, greasy and all covered in honey. I would rate this donut five of five because it was honey dipped and it was so sweet. I liked the donut but it needed sprinkles.

My favorite donut was the Lee’s donut.

12

Reviewer: TRISTYN DONUT RATING SYSTEM: The donut is sometimes too small and icky. The donut is sometimes too messy. The sprinkles are good. It’s tasty and sweet. It is a little soggy and a little too sweet. The colours are OK. I think five hockey pucks means it is super soggy, super sweet, and I like the colours.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

The donut was from Duffin’s. It was a chocolate one. I rate this donut a four. It was too soggy but the sprinkles were not. It was all covered in icing. I would recommend this to others because it is so good. There was not a lot of icing—that’s what I did not like. DONUT #2:  Cartems Donuts

This was a dark chocolate donut. The donut was from Cartems, but I love Duffin’s better. I rate this donut a one out of five because it is a non-sprinkles donut and I don’t like dark chocolate. I would not eat this again. DONUT #3:  Lee’s Donuts

This donut was from Lee’s. It was a honey dip donut. It was super sticky and it did not crumble. I rate this donut a five because I love honey and nuts and because it was so honey-nut-donut cool.

My favourite donut out of all the donuts was the honey nut donut. You can find it on Granville Island.

13

Reviewer: WAHPEMAKWA DONUT RATING SYSTEM: It is a plain donut with no taste. It has a tiny bit of sprinkles and tastes OK. It is cream filled with sprinkles and tastes average. It is chocolate cherry with blue glaze. It has a tiny bit of glaze and the filling is creamy chocolate with cherry on top. It has amazing taste.

DONUT #1:  duffin’s donuts

This was a rainbow sprinkles donut, and Duffin’s is where it was from. I rate this donut three soccer balls and two soccer balls. I give it three soccer balls because it had a little icing, and sprinkles. I rate it two because it was too dry and it needed a little bit more icing. The sprinkles were OK. DONUT #2: CARTEMS DONUTS

The Cartems donut was weird. I preferred the Duffin’s donut because it had sprinkled glaze. This donut only had a thick layer of chocolate and it was way too moist. I rate it one soccer ball because it made me feel bad after I ate it. It was too moist and way too crumbly. But I kinda like dark chocolate. DONUT #3:  LEE’S DONUTS

This donut was from Lee’s. I rate this donut a five. It was honey dipped and it was sweet. The glaze was soft and just really good. You can find it at the Granville Island market.

Lee’s was my favourite donut.

14

Reviewer: WALEEJAH DONUT RATING SYSTEM: It was nothing special. It didn’t taste good. I don’t think the adults would like it or anybody would like it. The recipe isn’t good. It looks very good but it doesn’t taste good. It has too much sugar. It looks good and it’s OK, but it doesn’t have any sprinkles. It looks good but probably other people don’t like it. It’s OK but something is just missing. It looks good, it tastes good, I love the flavoUr and it has icing. No one doesn’t like icing. It’s the best.

DONUT #1:  Duffin’s Donuts

This donut is from Duffin’s. I gave it three out of five because it was too sweet and hard and it had very sweet sprinkles. It would have been better if it wasn’t so sweet. The smell smelled sugary. What I liked about this donut was that it looked nice. But I wouldn’t eat this donut again. DONUT #2:  LEE’S DONUTS

This donut was from Lee’s Donuts on Granville Island. The one I ate was a honey dip. It looks like a donut. I rate this donut four out of five. I rated it that because it was a bit slanted, but otherwise I liked it. It smelled really good and it tasted very good.

My favourite donut was from Lee’s Donuts on Granville Island.
