The Writers’ Exchange gets inner-city kids excited about reading, writing and their own potential through mentoring and creative projects like this chapbook. Adventure By Casper
Once upon a time there were two best friends named Casper and Draggie. They went on an adventure, where they found a lucky charm under a big heavy rock. Both Casper and Draggie got magical powers. Casper and Draggie made the woods disappear, then they flew back home. When they got back the two friends made the woods come back with their magical powers. Then they put the lucky charms in the basket for next time.

The Magical Things By Jada
One day Rapunzel was reading a book. She was sad because she wanted a prince. Then she asked her pet magic bee to grant her a wish. The wish was for a prince. Then a prince came and found Rapunzel in her hidden tower. And they went on an adventure in the forest, and they found lots of animals. Then they got married and they lived happily ever after with their pet bee.

The Mermaid’s Wish By London
Once upon a time there was a mermaid named Princess. She heard that there was a magical cave, and inside the cave was a magical crown. But in front of the cave was a bear. Princess went home and asked her friends to help her. They went back to the cave and fought the bear, and he turned into meat and they brought him home. Then they went back to the cave and found the crown. Then Princess went home, and when her dad saw the crown, they fought for it. Princess got the crown and made her wish. She said, “I wish to live forever.”

The Magical Pencil By Jacob
One day Maurice was hanging out at McDonald’s. At McDonald’s, Maurice found a magic pencil! Out of nowhere, a cute little bear popped up. But in a few seconds, the cute little bear became an evil bear. After the bear became evil, Maurice decided to give herself powers. With her powers, Maurice was able to beat all the dangerous animals. After beating the dangerous animals, she decided to become the next Supergirl. And she saved the world. After she saved our planet, she went to help other planets!

The Unicorn and Cookie Story By Sara
Sara found a magic star in a cookie jar. The star made Mr. Cookie disappear! The star had really long hair and Mr. Cookie held onto the hair and flew away. Then Mr. Cookie came back! And Sara ate the cookie star! It was good!

The Princess and the Flying Dress By Rosa
Once upon a time there was a princess and her name was Allisan. One day she found a dress in her closet and it was a pretty dress. She wore the dress and suddenly she started flying in her room! She figured out it had magic powers that made her fly. When she touched her star, she could stop flying. She decided to go to her favourite place . . . Candy Land! Her next stop was high up in the clouds. It started to rain, so she went back to the palace after her tiring day of flying around and seeing her favourite places. She got back in her pyjamas and went to sleep. After that day, she shared the dress with her friends.

One day, a girl named London was driving and she saw a magic house. It was a gingerbread house! When she went in the house she turned into a gingerbread girl! Then when she left the house she turned into a human again. She ate up all the house so nobody would turn into a gingerbread boy or girl. She went home with a stomachache and went to sleep.

Mario and Luigi By Sam
One day, Mario and Luigi went to Mario’s place to have a race. They were twins, but they were not friends. At five o’clock, they found a yellow mystery box. A red and white mushroom popped out of the box by itself! Mario and Luigi suddenly became very big. They became the size of a hand. Then they found another mystery box with a rainbow star that made them run really fast! They decided to have their race. Mario won the race by 100 million seconds! After the race, Mario and Luigi became friends.

Rops and the Wings By Aser
Rops found a special cave, and inside it he found a magical diamond. Rops touched the magical diamond and wings grew on his back. After the wings grew, the diamond stuck to his belly. Then Rops went to his classroom and got a surprise when his friends touched him. His classmates grew wings, too! Rops went back to the cave and put the diamond back. Everyone’s wings fell off. Then Rops went back home.

Sara found a LOL doll but then it disappeared. A mermaid came and played with Sara. But then the LOL doll came back, and when Sara touched it, she disappeared! She travelled to a swimming pool, but when she touched the water, it went away! Then she went to the garbage can and touched it, and it was gone, too! Everything she touched disappeared, so Sara went to find the LOL doll. It was under the sink. She touched it, and it stayed! Then she opened the doll’s box and played with it. She was fixed!

Once upon a time, there was a unicorn named Vicky. The unicorn had magic powers. She could do anything she wanted. She put on some magic socks, and then she could fly! She flew all the way home to her big rainbow castle. She could make it rain dogs, or bring snowflakes! She could make it rain sun! Rain black stuff! Rain trees!

Super Puppy By Abby
Mr. Bad Dinosaur was in town and he scared away everybody who lived in town. Then Evil Girl came around and stole the crown. It made her queen. Super Puppy came and battled all the bad guys. Then Spider came and Spider stole the king’s crown. Evil Girl came again and started being mean to people. Then Super Dog saved the day and everyone was safe again.

Once upon a time Bentley went camping. He saw a Jason mask. Bentley tried on the mask and he became tiny! No one could see him! He did backflips when he was tiny. Bentley took off the mask and kept it so he could be tiny whenever he wanted.

The Magic Adventure By Lily
Once upon a time there was a unicorn who worked hard every day. Her name was Uni. Uni had magical tears, but one day she ran out! And the adventure began. Then she got really tired and wanted to take a rest, but she knew she needed to get her tears back. Teddy was there, and saw that Uni was going to fall into a pit. So Teddy made himself into a bridge. Then they both got to the magical waterfall and Uni got her tears back. They became best friends, and Teddy said, “Hey, do you want to bring all your unicorn friends to my land? I feel lonely around here and need some company.” Uni said, “Okay.” Then they had a big party.
