Timeless holiday programs Thanks to all who have already sent kind comments about this year’s mix of timeless seasonal favorites played by some of the world’s finest classical musicians. There are many holiday-related WRR programs still to come that you’ll want to mark on your calendar. Here are some of the highlights: • The Chanukah Story – Dec. 4, 7 p.m. Hanukkah begins at sunset on Dec. 1 this year. Celebrate with this appealing program for both adults and children. • 2010 Christmas Carol Countdown, presented by NorthPark Center with support from Markham Fine Jewelers, Centennial Fine Wines and Metroplex Cadillac Dealers runs from Dec. 9-24, every weekday at 3:30 p.m.

• Exploring Music with Bill McLaughlin will present the music and background of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio – Evenings at 7 p.m. Dec. 20-24. • St. Olaf Christmas Festival, Dec. 21, 8 p.m. – WRR is delighted to bring one of the nation’s most cherished holiday celebrations back to the airwaves. • Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols live from King’s Chapel at King’s College in Cambridge Dec. 24, 9-11 a.m. Hosted by Michael Barone. • Christmas Carol Countdown Review Dec. 24, 6 p.m. All 12 of your favorite carols in a row. • Dallas Symphony Orchestra Christmas Pops and Celebration – Christmas Day at 4 p.m. Features highlights from this year’s Christmas Celebration Concerts featuring the Dallas Symphony Chorus and soloists, plus selections from Christmas Pops with Marvin Hamlisch. • Handel’s Messiah – Christmas Day at 6 p.m. Handel’s complete masterpiece performed

The Adolphus holiday parade steps into the season

Dallas Symphony Chorus The Dallas Symphony Chorus is the official vocal ensemble of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. This all-volunteer organization consists of members who devote their time, effort and talent to weekly rehearsals and regular performances with the orchestra, as well as other appearances in the community. The Dallas Symphony Chorus has toured internationally in South America, Israel and throughout Europe. The Chorus has also enjoyed performing in Carnegie Hall numerous times, appearing four times with the Opera Orchestra of New York under the baton of Eve Queler, with the New York Pops with Skitch Henderson and with the DSO under the Direction of DSO Music Director Emeritus Andrew Litton. The Chorus will return to New York with the orchestra in May 2011 to perform the New York debut of Steven Stucky’s August 4, 1964 with Jaap van Zweden at the podium.

Then Amy Bishop returns to the magnificent lobby of the historic Adolphus hotel for WRR’s most popular holiday tradition, Caroling at The Adolphus presented by your Metroplex Cadillac Dealers Dec. 13-17 from noon to 1 p.m. Caroling is a live radio program of seasonal choral music. Sponsoring WRR’s Caroling at the Adolphus presented by The Metroplex Cadillac Dealers are Armen Oriental Rug Cleaning, Professional Caretakers, NorthPark Center and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Turtle Creek Chorale The stars brightly shine this holiday season as the Turtle Creek Chorale present O Holy Night. Traditional melodies, lush harmonies and laughter provide warmth this wintry time of year. Come hear your favorite songs including Deck The Halls, Do You Hear What I Hear, Silver Bells, Silent Night and much, much more. Join the Turtle Creek Chorale and special guests, The Texas Guitar Quartet for this holiday spectacular Dec. 15, 20 and 22 only at the Meyerson Symphony Center. Also, mark your calendars now so you won’t miss Jennifer Holliday and the Men’s Chorus from First Church of Hamilton Park Baptist as together we present One Night Only March 23, 2011.
