"By accident, I stumbled upon Noe Perez and his work. Although, accident may be a misnomer, as it was more like walking into a door jamb- you know it’s there but you did not see it. Not only had Noe grown up in South Texas, he had participated in the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Charity Weekend auctions and had exhibits in a Gallery in my home town of Kingsville. Yet, I never encountered his work there until I happened to see it elsewhere. From the moment I saw Noe’s first work I was struck by how he captured the landscapes of my childhood home of south Texas. To me, it was like coming home. Much of the art Judy and I have in our home ties back to an experience in our lives or places we have been. The common denominator is an emotional tie to the artist or the subject. Initially, that was all it took for me to add Noe’s work to our assemblage of art; “collection” would be too refined a term! I decided that in Noe’s case the attraction was so much more than the subject as there are elements of his style that are reminiscent of other artists whose works I have come to admire. Once the art was in my home or office, it allowed me the opportunity to
study it more and notice those subtle similarities. I am now convinced the subject caught my eye but it was Noe’s style that sold me. We have been lucky to acquire the works of some wonderful artists- Robert Wood, Porfirio Salinas, Dawson Watson, Robert Harrison, and Rolla Taylor. I see elements of style from each of these artists. Recently, I noticed Noe uses hints of lilac, similar to Rolla Taylor, throughout his work. Yet it is so subtle initially that one misses it, but that adds to my appreciation of his work. The wonderful aspect of Noe’s work is that I can afford much large pieces. Ironically, I am offering one for sale in tonight’s exhibit soley because my 'assemblage' of art now exceeds my wall space! However, it is a great piece and a wonderful example of Noe’s talent." - Jamey Clement

Noe Perez was born and raised in Falfurrias, Texas. Interested in art from a young age, Perez’s artistic education began in his early teens as he studied with various local artists. Despite his love of art, he chose to major in engineering. Perez earned his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering at Texas A&I University and he continues to work in that field today. Unwilling to put aside his intense interest in art, Perez has continued to advance his artistic abilities, attending plein air painting workshops with Plein-Air Painters of America artists Ron Rencher, George Strickland, and Michael Workman. Much of his work is done in the studio from photographs and plein air studies. Perez believes that plein air painting is an essential exercise for any land- scape painter and he paints outdoors whenever possible. He paints the South Texas landscape—dusty terrain dotted with low brush and cactus in bright sunlight—using beautifully realistic colors that are equally muted and vibrant. Noe Perez is a master at capturing the beauty and essence of South Texas from San Antonio to the Rio Grande.
